Stage makeup always looks overdone on the television screen or in person. Troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, 159 Battalion, Sector II Special Boat Force, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force have conducted an offensive operation against suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Security sources informed that the joint operation was carried out at about 9:00 a.m. on April 28 along the Mar–Subdu–Yaro Lawanti and Yaro Shuwari axis.
The sources said troops made contact with the terrorists at Malam Shiri village, engaging them in a fierce exchange of fire that resulted in the neutralisation of six insurgents, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
According to the sources, troops recovered significant quantities of weapons and ammunition from the scene, including five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, one grenade, five magazines, two motorcycles, a Baofeng communication radio, 463 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition, 110 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm special ammunition, three bandoliers, and N40,000 in cash.
They added that materials suspected to be used for improvised explosive device (IED) fabrication were also recovered at the scene.
They said troops have continued exploitation operations in the general area to deny the terrorists freedom of movement.

As a Midshipman, I spent 6 weeks on the USS Saratoga in the Med. Underway, I think I remember the At Sea Fire Party being called away at least once a day. I could be wrong. It was 1987.
Fires happen much less often on destroyers, but they do happen occasionally. There are fewer people on a destroyer and less equipment.
Many of the smaller electrical fires used to be termed something like “warming insulation” to circumvent the requirement to send out a notification to the chain of command up to Sec Nav. My guess is that the fire was significant enough to make some piece of equipment inoperable or degraded. That would have mandated notifications. The releasing of the info to the press could have had a number of sources, both legitimate or illicit.

A US-brokered ceasefire appeared to be falling apart as the terror group carried out several other drone and rocket attacks on Thursday. Israel, meanwhile, launched strikes on the terror group in southern Lebanon, saying it was acting against threats. Lebanon’s health ministry said Israeli strikes on south Lebanon killed nine people, including two children.
During the morning incident, Hezbollah launched two explosive-laden drones at troops stationed in the village of Qantara. According to the IDF, one of the drones was intercepted by troops, while the second struck near the forces.
