[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Florida Democrat has resigned from Congress after allegedly stealing millions in COVID relief funds, some of which she is accused of spending on a glitzy ring.
Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, 46, was awaiting punishment after being accused of using millions that her family's health care company received during the pandemic to fuel her political campaign.
Last month, the bipartisan House Ethics Committee found that she had committed numerous violations of House rules and ethics standards, including the alleged theft of more than $5 million in taxpayer funds - part of which she is accused of spending on a flashy diamond ring.
The committee investigated 27 counts of 'violations' connected to the millions she's accused of funneling into her campaign and found 'substantial evidence' to support 'extensive misconduct.'
She was separately indicted by a federal grand jury in Miami in November and is awaiting trial. The ex-congresswoman denies the charges against her and pleaded not guilty.
Cherfilus-McCormick's resignation came as her own colleagues were plotting to expel her from Congress over the messy fiscal affair - in an extremely rare move.
The former congresswoman, along with a handful of co-conspirators, is accused of steering money that came into a family health-care company she ran with her brother, Edwin Cherfilus, into her campaign coffers through 'straw donations.'
The November indictment in Cherfilus–McCormick's case accuses her of purchasing a 3.14–carat 'Fancy Vivid Yellow Diamond' ring from a New York jeweler for $109,000, per CBS12.
Her official house portrait appears to show a similar piece of jewelry adorning her finger.

In my 47 years of living solely in the south and as a white man with a shaved head, I have only been approached once by a white supremacist group, they are full of shit by how many "white supremacist " groups there are. Anyone else remember when they broke the militias up in south Ga and northern Florida. Key word militia, I believe they used the excuse of Waco to do so.

...In 1998, I applied for a technical job with the SC State Law Enforcement Division, and while being shown around, the subject turned to a white supremacist incident elsewhere that had just happened. One of the other applicants asked if it might have been the KKK, and the agent said this:
"Not likely. If you took all the active Klansmen in the US and put 'em in a movie theatre, you'd have plenty of seats left over."
It looks like if you shut down the SPLC, you could fit the remainder on a short bus and their garb could be used as Halloween costumes for aspiring Dem politicians.

[FoxNews] Flores Ortiz, originally from El Salvador, has 135 days remaining after time served.
Israel Flores Ortiz, 18, an illegal alien, was sentenced to 360 days on Tuesday after being convicted for groping several female classmates in Fairfax High School hallways earlier this year.
With time served and the calculations for a misdemeanor, he has 135 days left in prison.

Flores Ortiz wore a green prison jumpsuit and listened to the proceedings through an interpreter.
He read a statement in Spanish, saying he apologized to the girls he had grabbed and their families.
"I hurt them," he said, also apologizing to his own mother and father.
Flores Ortiz was charged as an adult, but he was tried in juvenile court because most of the victims were minors. He was convicted in nine cases, acquitted in three and had one charge dismissed. He had originally been accused of assaulting 13 female classmates, according to the Fairfax Police Department.
The case had heightened concerns among parents about student safety after years of former President Joe Biden's open borders policy.
Flores Ortiz, originally from El Salvador, is in the country illegally, having reportedly arrived in 2024.
The defense asked the court to impose just nine days of incarceration, arguing Flores Ortiz’s age should weigh heavily in sentencing. Counsel said his "brain is physically not as developed" as that of a 25-year-old and argued his actions were not driven by sexual gratification.
Instead, the defense characterized the assaults as immature behavior, telling the court Flores Ortiz acted "for fun" and that "it was like a joke or prank."
"Only a teenager would think like that," counsel said.
