[Federalist] We were told that the LGBT movement was about adults — giving everyone equal rights and getting the government out of the bedrooms of consenting adults. But this was a lie; LGBT activists were always coming for the children.
Just look at the recent kerfuffle over Netflix. Right-wing influencers and activists have drawn attention to the many Netflix shows promoting LGBT content for very young children (e.g., a cartoon with a little boy putting on a dress to dance for his two dads). Prominent figures such as Elon Musk and Utah Sen. Mike Lee have joined in the denunciations, and the backlash seems to have hurt the company’s stock price.
It remains to be seen whether this is a temporary dip or whether Netflix is about to take a permanent hit a la Bud Light. What is clear is that Netflix is deliberately grooming kids with LGBT messages.
Most attempts to deny this malintent are lies so obvious as to be insulting. The suggestion that Netflix shows are just reflecting or representing reality ("LGBT people exist, get over it") is laughable. If they were just trying to capture reality, there would be a lot more happy, churchgoing evangelical characters on TV. Likewise, if the goal is just to provide representation for misunderstood minorities, why aren’t there more positive portrayals of, say, Latin-mass-attending Catholic families with seven kids?
The truth is that Netflix and its peers carefully curate what they include in their offerings — rival Amazon Prime Video is going so far as to scrub guns from the promo pictures for James Bond films. Pretending that Netflix’s content choices are neutral is ridiculous. Thus, the most compelling argument from those defending Netflix is also the honest one: which is to ask why pro-LGBT content shouldn’t be included in kids’ shows — that is, why is it OK for the prince to kiss the princess, but not for the prince to kiss another prince?

The Houthis are clearly hinting that this is likely the result of a missile or drone strike, which they fired at the USS Harry S. Truman several times and claimed to have hit the carrier.
Yemeni armed forces, controlled by the Houthis, carried out three military operations, one of which targeted the US aircraft carrier, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Sari reported on Telegram.
The targets of two strikes were Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and a power plant south of Jerusalem, the statement added. This happened in a collision with a merchant ship at the entrance to the Suez canal in Feb. Captain got fired. It was in the news.

Absolutely legit. Had the long established systems worked as they ought the first fire would have been put out quickly and the second would never have sprung up.
[FoxNews] The Trump administration’s Department of Justice and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced they had determined the cause of the Pacific Palisades fire and arrested an alleged arsonist. Previously, local officials had said the cause was unknown but may have been caused by fireworks.
As a Palisades resident whose home was damaged but survived the fire, I hope whoever is guilty goes to jail for a long time. However, let there be no mistake, he was not the one responsible for the town of Pacific Palisades burning to the ground. The brunt of that responsibility lies with California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
Newsom has failed to properly manage the state’s forests, leaving them dangerously overgrown with the brush that fuels the fires. Rather than taking swift action to clear them, Newsom seems to relish in blaming climate change after each devastating fire. After the Palisades fire, he said, "The hots are getting a lot hotter. Dries are getting a lot drier. The wets are getting a lot wetter. That’s climate change."
Bass has shown her utter disregard of her duties as mayor. During her campaign, she said if elected, "I would not travel internationally. The only places I would go would be DC, Sacramento, San Francisco and New York in relation to LA." Yet, she left the country five times, including her now infamous trip to Ghana while LA was under a Fire Weather Watch from the National Weather Service (which quickly became a Red Flag Warning the next day) in order to attend the inauguration of the president of Ghana. She was at a cocktail party when she learned of the fire.
It is bad enough to violate a campaign pledge, but to do so at a dangerous time, and for something that has absolutely nothing to do with her job as mayor, is inexcusable. She is the mayor of the second-largest city in the U.S., but does not seem to appreciate the responsibility that comes with the job. (This was her second inauguration party outside the country; she also attended the Mexican president’s inauguration.)
Bass is also to blame because her DEI hiring practices put less qualified people into critical positions in charge of protecting the safety of city residents. These positions included the deputy mayor of public safety, the fire chief, and the head of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), all of whom let down the city. She proudly states on her website her commitment "to make sure our administration truly reflects the full diversity of the people of Los Angeles," rather than a commitment to hire the best and brightest.

'PARTICIPATION TROPHY'
Trump achieved something similarly dramatic in his first term, when he fashioned the historic Abraham Accords.
Then, four Moslem nations normalized relations with Israel, including trade and tourism, in a glorious ceremony on the White House lawn.
An instant headline — ''Kosher food in Dubai'' — captured the practical impact of historic barriers falling and ordinary people benefitting.
Unfortunately, the achievement of real peace does not seem to be the metric the Norwegian committee demands and rewards.
This, after all, is the group that gave the award to Barack Obama I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody... soon after he took office and before he had actually done anything of any significance, other than get elected.
No results, no problem, because the deciders swooned over the racial symbolism Obama represented and his international apology tours where he bemoaned America's use of power throughout history.
With this year's award, the Nobel committee has once again revealed its woke, misguided belief that urging peace and talking about it are the preeminent virtues.
In the process, the members have blessed the terrible idea that the right kind of talk is the most that people around the world can expect from their leaders.
Because results are not required, the committee has effectively degraded the sainted Nobel into a kind of participation trophy for those with good intentions.
The use of hard power has become something of a taboo, which strikes me as especially ironic given that Alfred Nobel invented dynamite!
Against that prejudice, Trump never had a prayer of winning.
He is an excellent talker in his own punch-in-the-nose manner, but his bluntness will never be confused with the dreamy, touchy-feely prattle of the supposedly sophisticated global elite.
His motto of America First must surely horrify the Nobel custodians even though much of the world is reaping the benefits of his use of American economic and military power.
A related problem is that he never pretends to be about anything other than hard results, as his life story, in and out of politics, abundantly illustrates.
He makes a sharp contrast to this year's winner, Maria Corina Machado, the opposition leader in Venezuela
...a country in Central America that sits on an enormous pool of oil. Formerly the most prospereous country in the region, it became infested with Commies sniffing almost unlimited wealth. It turned out the wealth wasn't unlimited, the economy collapsed under the clownish Hugo Chavez, the murder rate exceeded places like Honduras and El Salvador. A significant proportion of the populace refugeed to Colombia and points south... She was cited for ''promoting democratic rights'' and for ''her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.''
There is no dispute that her quest requires enormous personal courage and sacrifice, given the thuggish instincts of the Maduro regime.
But absent results, the Nobel becomes an award for trying to do the right thing instead of actually delivering the concrete and identifiable results the founder envisioned.
ECHOING REAGAN
In that sense, it's noteworthy that in accepting the award, Machado dedicated it ''to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!''
Her recognition of Trump reflects the real-world impact of his use of power to bring peace in Venezuela and elsewhere.
His approach is an inspiring embodiment of Ronald Reagan's pledge to deliver ''Peace through Strength.''
It's how Reagan helped to topple the Berlin Wall on the way to defeating the Soviet Union.

[IsraelNationalNews] Many years ago, David Shipler, the former foreign correspondent for The New York Times, astutely observed: "Watching foreign affairs is sometimes like watching a magician; the eye is drawn to the hand performing the dramatic flourishes, leaving the other hand - the one doing the important job - unnoticed".
With the official broadcast of an impending deal which would lead to the release of the remaining Israeli hostages being held for 734 days (that count registered on the day of said announcement, and growing quite painfully with each successive day of delay) - a ’political rescue’ of those alive and yet others known to be deceased - the favorable celebrations throughout the world, in general, and the euphoric expressions in Israel and the United States, in particular, leave too-many too-intoxicated to look at the bigger picture. Indeed, to look at the magician’s other hand.
The question that needed to be asked - if only rhetorically - is how a preponderance of Muslim states could share in a celebratory event that many have described as long overdue, while yet others "as one the great achievements in civilization." As in - the history of civilization. We ask the readers not to roll their eyes mockingly. Not yet.
Or, as when the presidential author of that previous quote added this as well: "perhaps the most significant peace treaty (sic) in two or three thousand years". Again, dear readers, please refrain from reminding us that Islam is only 1400 years old, and Hamas an even more recent invention. Thirty-eight years ago to be exact. But that rhetorical question begs to be answered. Qatar. And Turkey. Each representing a Muslim Brotherhood that still celebrates October 7. And those others - nations such as Egypt and Pakistan and that ilk - notable enemies of the Jewish State - among more than a dozen strong - have seemingly found reason the rejoice.
Just imagine. Muslim nations celebrating "an end to the war" after having, quite transparently, encouraged Hamas - for virtually two years - to do no such thing.
"What gives?" - a phrase loosely echoing the Hebrew expression "Ma pitom?"
Publicized, but relegated as a veritable footnote to the dominant hostage-for-too-many-terrorists-to-list story was this. Another announcement - one that will be celebrated with great euphoria by the nation that the Trump Administration has repeatedly and quite emphatically called "an honest broker," "our partner in negotiations," and "one of the best friends the United States could ever have."
Yes, Qatar. The nation that has quite generously financed both Hamas and most of the anti-Semitism on American campuses. The latter - to the tune of $7.1 billion. Yes, that Qatar - the sponsors of Al Jazeera and an even more virulent anti-Jewish campaign at every international forum - political, academic, cultural, and sport. To be fair - the Qatari-endorsed anti-Jewish vitriol has become sport itself, cloaked by a cleverly cunning propaganda that has successfully sold that oil-rich nation of savages as "moderate."
Therefore - the announcement on October 10 - by US Defense Secretary (is it too soon to refer to him by his new moniker - Secretary of War?!) Pete Hegseth of a finalized agreement that allows the Qatari Emiri Air Force to build an advanced (the preferred word instead of military) facility in Idaho. That’s in America, for those geographically-challenged.
Appearing with Qatari Minister of Defense Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahmam Al Thani (if ever anyone deserved the moniker Minister of War, it would be he), the joint announcement of a facility to be built at the Mountain Home Air Force Base just might give us a glimpse into the magician’s other hand.
Secretary Hegseth, a true friend to Israel as much as the US president that he serves, was quite forthright when he offered: "The location will host a contingent of Qatari F-15's and pilots to enhance our combined training, increase lethality, interoperability, it's just another example of our partnership. And I hope you know, your excellency, that you can count on us."
Yes, lost to the euphoria that still dominates the news cycle, is one very viable explanation why both Israeli and Qatari (read: Muslim Brotherhood) officials a) celebrate the return of the hostages; b) ignore the invariable and inevitable future catastrophe that will follow the release of uncivilized Arab terrorists; and c) speak about "peace treaties" that challenge the credulity of everyone’s intelligence.
Do they think we are that stupid; or are they?
We’ll answer this way: One would have to be really stupid not to take notice of the magician’s other hand. The only question that logically follows is this: Who indeed is the magician that orchestrated this trick? And, does the answer rhyme with Trump, or Qatar?
Either way. The audience will stand and applaud. And wonder as they always do: "How indeed did that happen?"
Right in front of their eyes.
