[NYPOST] Afghanistan said Sunday it killed 58 Pak soldiers in overnight border operations, in response to what it called repeated violations of its territory and airspace. The Mighty Pak Army gave far lower casualty figures, saying 23 troops were killed.
Earlier in the week, Afghan authorities accused Pakistain of bombing the capital, Kabul, and a market in the country's east. Pakistain did not claim responsibility for the assault.

Pakistain has previously struck locations inside Afghanistan, targeting what it alleges are murderous Moslem hideouts, but these have been in remote and mountainous areas. The two sides have also skirmished along the border in the past. Saturday night's heavy festivities underscore the deepening tensions.
The Taliban government's Defense Ministry said early Sunday morning its forces had conducted ''retaliatory and successful operations'' along the border.

The "demonstration escalated into unrest, causing significant property damage," Bern police said in a statement.

Police responded "with force," using water cannons, tear gas, rubber bullets and police batons, it added.
It sounds like a whiff of grapeshot would have been salutary….
In all, 16 male and two female officers were maimed, including four who had to be hospitalized, police said, adding that it was aware of two other people who required medical attention following the festivities.
The property damage was "extensive," the statement said, describing smashed shop windows and ATM screens, tagged and defaced facades, and nine police vehicles "heavily damaged or tagged."
More than 50 properties in Bern were damaged, with windows smashed and graffiti sprayed on buildings, police said.
The total amount of damage was expected to be "in the millions" of Swiss francs (1 franc = $1.25 USD), police said.
A total of 536 people were detained and had their identities checked before being removed from the area.
One of those checked was already the subject of an arrest warrant, the statement said, adding that others risked charges for offenses including rioting, property damage, home invasion, bodily harm, intentional arson, and violence or threats against authorities.

[NYPOST] A call to shine laser lights into the sky in an effort to disrupt federal helicopters flying over South Portland has prompted serious safety concerns and forced a key trauma hospital to reroute air ambulances.
The online flyer, posted on the homepage of Rose City Counter-Info, a self-described ''anarchist counter-info platform in so-called Portland, Oregon,'' encourages participants to take part in a ''laser tag'' event aimed at federal aircraft.
The post urges individuals to mask up, coordinate with others, and take steps to avoid identification — including cleaning laser pointers with alcohol, wearing gloves, and removing potential DNA traces before disposal.
As a result of the planned activity, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) reported that multiple air ambulance providers declined to land at the hospital's rooftop helipad on Saturday night, according to KGW.
Instead, they redirected their helicopters to nearby airports, requiring patients to be transferred to OHSU by ground ambulance — a process estimated to add 45 to 60 minutes to travel time.
''For most patients, that will be an acceptable delay. However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well... for some sensitive situations, such as unstable trauma patients, STEMIs and strokes, the delay could have real impacts,'' OHSU said in an email to KGW.
The hospital also advised staff to ''incorporate additional transit time into their decision-making,'' and strongly urged the public not to participate in the laser event, calling it ''extremely dangerous.''

Strip announced on Sunday the opening of a period for "repentance and general amnesty" for members of gangs "not involved in bloodshed," to regularize their security and legal status.
The ministry clarified in a statement that the decision follows the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement with the Israeli occupation, and aims to restore security, stability, and strengthen national cohesion.
