[DM] This is the astonishing moment an illegal migrant took to the skies to paraglide into Europe, landing in a Spanish enclave over a heavily fortified border fence.
Stunned police raced to the area after witnessing the daring aerial crossing on security cameras.
But all they found from a search of the spot where the mystery man landed was the abandoned multi-coloured paragliding gear in the undergrowth.
The successful border breach was the first of its kind ever attempted or accomplished in this particular area between Morocco and Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta, opposite Gibraltar.
Similar paragliding attempts have been made before in other parts of the border region.
Footage of the historic action showed the migrant flying over the Jebel Musa mountain in Morocco before he landed on European soil in Ceuta's Sidi Ibrahim area, which is popular with weekend hikers and mountain bikers.
An investigation was ongoing today to try to discover the paraglider's identity. It was not clear this morning if he was a Moroccan or sub-Saharan African.
Local reports today pointed to him being in his early twenties amid speculation he had timed his crossing to coincide with the regular transfer of migrants from Ceuta to the Spanish mainland to decongest its crowded CETI reception centre.
A well-placed police source said overnight: 'We don't think many more will try it. It's expensive and risky and something you need to be experienced in.'
Ceuta, one of Spain's two North African enclaves, is more used to dealing with migrants climbing over the heavily-fortified fences that separate it from Morocco.
Others have jumped into the sea to swim to Ceuta.
The risky entry method is far less used, but a Somalian who managed to swim to Ceuta from the Moroccan town of Beliones, just over four miles away, is currently awaiting a transfer to the Spanish mainland.
The Civil Guard are said to have been alerted to the possibility of an aerial crossing this summer after groups of sub-Saharan Africans who had managed to make it to Morocco recorded videos they posted on TikTok showing paragliding gear.
One local paper claimed overnight they had even published a guide on how to do it and marked out recommended routes where the border fencing was 'more vulnerable.'
In May, a police officer was injured after trying to prevent migrants from climbing into Ceuta from Morocco over the two parallel fences, each approximately 32ft high and topped with inverted razor wire.
Electronic sensors and high-intensity lights also integrate a system designed to be impassable.
In August Spain's Ministry of Interior revealed 1,452 undocumented migrants had managed to get into Ceuta by land between January 1 and July 31, a 7.2 per cent increase on the figure for the previous year.
As well as climbing over the border fencing, some are smuggled into the North African enclave in cars.
In November 2019, police arrested a Moroccan kamikaze driver who smashed through a border checkpoint at high speed with 52 African migrants, including a five-month-old baby in the back of his van.
Four people needed hospital treatment after the incident. The 34 men, 16 women and two children in the back of the van were all sub-Saharan Africans.
They were picked up by police after fleeing the vehicle once it had reached Spain, with many running towards Almadraba Beach before taking shelter from the rain on the roof-covered terrace of a coffee shop near the seafront.

Kumar made the revelation on Wednesday while speaking at an award ceremony in Lagos, where he highlighted the CJTF's ongoing efforts to prevent the infiltration of Boko Haram murderous Moslems and bandidos fleeing the North into Lagos.
At the event held at the Airport Hotel, Lagos, Kumar received the Best Security Group in Lagos award from the Nigerian Human Rights Community.
According to the CJTF Commander, arrests are regularly made at trailer parks, quarries, markets, and other locations where people from the North are known to gather upon arriving in Lagos.
He affirmed the CJTF's commitment to upholding the mandate of the Lagos State government to ensure the state does not become a haven for murderous Moslems escaping military operations in the North.
''If I should mention the number of Boko Haram members we have arrested in Lagos State, people will not believe it. But we have arrested thousands,'' Kumar said.
''The CJTF monitors trailer parks, and quarries, and checks truck pushers because we understand the channels through which they enter Lagos. Our people must remain vigilant. Not all Abokis are bad, but not all are good either. We are committed to keeping Lagos free from Boko Haram and banditry.''
He added, ''Boko Haram has no domain in Lagos State. The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor is constantly in touch with us to ensure the people sleep with their eyes closed.''
Sanda also cautioned against assuming that all bandidosmurderous Moslems operating in the North are Nigerians. While not absolving Nigerians entirely, he claimed that many murderous Moslems and bandidos are non-Nigerians who infiltrate the country's borders and pose as citizens.
''Whenever you see a man from Borno State, you might feel scared because of Boko Haram,'' he said. ''But many of those you see are not truly Nigerians. That's not to say there are no Nigerians among them.
''It's a fact that Boko Haram originated in Borno State, and we monitor individuals from Borno across Lagos. We know when new arrivals come in because we track the truck routes. A person from Borno can identify others from his state; the same goes for indigenes of Kano and other states.''

During an assessment visit on Friday, Zulum had narrated the role of Cameroonian soldiers in making people return to the communities years after they were displaced.

''We resettled this town about 7 years ago, with the support of Cameroonian soldiers. Unfortunately, they (returnees) were displaced by the murderous Moslems. Yes, Cameroonian troops have withdrawn but that doesn't mean that the Nigerian Army should leave the area vacant,'' he had said.
''I duly notified the Nigerian military of the dangers of leaving this town without security. This is a border community. Wilgo, Kirawa, Baga, Damasak, Malamfatori, among others are border communities that have to be protected because of their strategic importance.

’THE BLOODSHED MUST STOP’
In the Netherlands, an estimated 250,000 people, most dressed in red, gathered in Amsterdam to press the government to take tougher action against Israel. Sunday’s protest and march through the Dutch capital comes less than four weeks before national elections. Two "Red Line" demonstrations in The Hague earlier this year also drew tens of thousands of people.

Since a similar rally in May, the Dutch government has slowly changed its stance against Israel, imposing travel bans on far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in July, accusing them of inciting violence against Paleostinians and calling for an "ethnic cleansing" of Gaza.

MARCHES IN BULGARIA AND MOROCCO DEMAND THE RELEASE OF FLOTILLA ACTIVISTS
In the Bulgarian capital Sofia, demonstrators marched with signs including "Gaza: Starvation Is a Weapon of War" and "Gaza Is the Biggest Graveyard of Children."
Organizers said they wanted to "pay tribute to the heroes of the Global Sumud Flotilla," including Bulgarian activist Vasil Dimitrov. Israel intercepted the flotilla last week, preventing some 40 vessels from reaching Gaza.
Gay Paree also saw an outpouring of support for the hostages held by Hamas. Hundreds of demonstrators, many waving or draped in Israeli flags, marched through the city’s streets shouting "Free the hostages."

A WEEKEND OF RALLIES ACROSS EUROPE
A day after mass demonstrations across Spain, thousands of people held smaller marches in several cities, calling for an "end to genocide" and trade relations with Israel. In Gijon, a group of women marched carrying white bundles symbolizing the bodies of children killed in Gaza.

[NY Post] President Trump on Sunday deployed 300 California National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon defying a federal order blocking the move — as Golden State Gov. Gavin Newsom vowed to sue in response.
"After a federal court blocked his attempt to federalize the Oregon National Guard, Donald Trump is deploying 300 California National Guard personnel into Oregon," Newson said in a post on X, later calling the order "un-American."
"They are on their way there now. We are taking this fight back to court. The public cannot stay silent in the face of such reckless and authoritarian conduct by the President of the United States."
Newsom’s fiery threat comes hours after a federal judge temporarily halted the Trump administration from sending 200 Oregon National Guard troops to the "war ravaged" city that has been under siege by anti-ICE agitators for more than 100 straight days.
Last week, the commander in chief ordered Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to unleash "all necessary troops" to Portland and use "full force" to protect immigration authorities from "domestic terrorists."
Oregon immediately sued to block the president from deploying the troops.
US District Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump nominee, ruled Saturday that deploying active-duty troops to Portland would not only violate the US Constitution but defy federal law barring military involvement in domestic law enforcement.
She also said that Trump’s order did not reflect the reality of the protests taking place at the immigration processing facility in south Portland.
"Overall, the protests were small and uneventful," she wrote in her ruling.
"The President’s determination was simply untethered to the facts."

[CrossRoadsToday] Police arrested and charged a man with possession of explosives Sunday outside a Washington, DC, church where an annual Mass to mark the start of the Supreme Court term was set to take place hours later.
The so-called Red Mass is held each year to "invoke God’s blessings on those responsible for the administration of justice," according to St. Matthew’s Cathedral. A spokesperson for the Supreme Court told CNN that no justices were in attendance on Sunday, though members of the high court have previously gone to the mass. The Supreme Court’s new term begins on Monday.
The DC Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that the suspect, Louis Geri, a 41-year-old from Vineland, New Jersey, faces preliminary charges of unlawful entry, threats to kidnap or injure a person and possession of a Molotov cocktail.
Officers assigned to protect the event approached Geri, who had set up a tent on the steps of the cathedral, just before 6 a.m. They arrested Geri after he refused to vacate, though he had been previously barred from the premises, per MPD.
MPD teams that investigate explosives and arson incidents searched Geri’s belongings and found vials of liquid and possible fireworks.
DC police are teaming up with federal partners, including the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the FBI’s Washington Field Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, on the investigation.
The FBI told CNN in a statement that there is no threat to the public and the investigation is ongoing. It is not yet clear whether the suspect has an attorney.
During the Mass, Cardinal Robert McElroy said he hopes members of the Supreme Court, as well as other legal practitioners, can help "bring hope" back to an era that he said has "witnessed a dramatic collapse of faith in institutions of all kinds."
He called for a tamp down on "confrontational" political rhetoric, which he warned led to more political violence.
"We have witnessed the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the assault on the Capitol. Both marked the progression from civil dialogue to uncivil dialogue, to force and fear," he said, referencing the recent murder of a prominent conservative activist and the January 6 Capitol riots.
The Sunday incident came days after the person who admitted to trying to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022 was sentenced to just over eight years in prison.

The recent incident comes a day after security forces bumped off 14 bandidossnuffies linked to Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan during an operation in Balochistan's Khuzdar.
They added that the operation was carried out on the reported presence of bandidossnuffies belonging to the Indian proxy terrorists, resulting in the killing of at least 14 terrorists, while 20 holy warriors were also injured.

Abed El Hameed Qaradaya, 43, succumbed to shrapnel injuries sustained on Thursday, amid an attack that killed MSF colleague Omar Hayek and injured several others, the organization said.
MSF said the attack was carried out by Israeli forces. It said its staff were waiting for a bus to the charity’s field hospital at the time, and were all wearing MSF vests.
In response to a query by the Times of Israel, the IDF said the strike on October 2 targeted a Hamas ..always the voice of sweet reason... operative in central Gaza.
"Reports were received of a local Paleostinian employee of an international organization who was killed, along with several local employees who were maimed," the military said, adding that "the details of the incident are under investigation."
The IDF said that it took steps to mitigate civilian harm in the strike, while stressing that Hamas "embeds itself in the civilian population and exploits it as a human shield for terror purposes."
El Hameed is the 15th MSF staff member killed in the nearly two-year-long conflict, and the third in less than 20 days.
"His loss is immense and has a tragic impact on his loved ones, MSF and the health system in Gaza," the Geneva-based NGO said in a statement.
"For 18 years, Abed El Hameed was a cornerstone of MSF’s physiotherapy department in Gaza. He was a unique and invaluable specialist in both physiotherapy and occupational therapy."
MSF said he innovated and adapted tools, and was the driving force behind opening a 3D physiotherapy department.
"We are profoundly grieved and outraged by the loss of our colleagues — a stark reminder of the pattern of complete disregard for civilian lives and human dignity," it said.
In June 2024, after another MSF staffer, Fadi al-Wadiya, was killed in an IDF strike, the military said he was an Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... operative involved in developing the terror group’s missiles. MSF denied the accusation, then the IDF published a photograph of Wadiya in a PIJ uniform.
Also on Sunday, the IDF published footage showing weapons that it said were left behind by Hamas operatives in a kindergarten and a school in Gaza City.
"Last week, IDF troops identified Hamas bully boyz fleeing a kindergarten in al-Shati, Gaza City. The troops later found an bomb and an AK-47 rifle inside the kindergarten," the military said on its English-language X account.
In a separate post, the IDF’s international media front man, Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani, posted a picture of uniforms, military equipment, and a Hamas flag in a classroom, saying: "These weapons were discovered in a school in Gaza a few days ago, a place meant for learning, not terror."
Both educational facilities likely have not been active during the war.

The IDF has repeatedly accused Hamas of using civilian sites — including schools, mosques, and hospitals — for terror, and has published extensive footage showing how the terror group dug tunnels and set up weapon depots in such facilities.
The IDF has also made use of schools in Gaza as temporary encampments for troops during the war.
Planes and tanks pounded areas across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, despite the IDF having moved to purely defensive operations a day earlier.
The military was ordered to halt offensive operations in Gaza City on Saturday amid Trump’s push to bring about an end to the war in the enclave, and so shifted to defensive operations only, acting against those it deemed to pose a threat to troops.
In total, local health authorities said at least 19 people were killed across the Strip on Sunday.
Four of those killed were shot dead near an aid distribution site in the southern city of Rafah, according to Nasser Hospital. Israel’s military said it was not involved.
At least eight others were killed in multiple strikes in Gaza City, according to Shifa hospital, which received the casualties. A security official who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media said the strikes were against Hamas militants who were a threat to troops.
The toll could not be independently verified.
The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 67,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed over 22,000 combatants in battle as of August and another 1,600 terrorists inside Israel during the October 7 onslaught.
Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip stands at 471. The toll includes two police officers and three Defense Ministry civilian contractors.
Per the military’s assessments, some 900,000 of the estimated 1 million Palestinians who were residing in Gaza City ahead of the IDF’s major offensive have evacuated to the Strip’s south.
Civilians were instructed last month to evacuate all areas of Gaza City and head to an Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in southern Gaza.
The rate of Palestinians leaving the area has risen in the past weeks, as the IDF advanced deeper into Gaza City, according to Israeli figures.
However, the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported on October 2 that it was “estimated that hundreds of thousands of people remain in Gaza city and North Gaza governorate.”
