Florida mom accused of killing son in bid to ''exorcise demons''
[NYPOST] A Florida mother allegedly killed her 6-year-old son during a twisted attempt to ''exorcise demons'' from his body — with police discovering the boy's decaying remains 12 days later.

Police found little Ra'myl Pierre, dead in his bed Friday at the family's Fort Pierce home, after school officials reported the boy had been absent for more than two weeks, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office said.

Rhonda Paulynice was arrested the same day, authorities said.

The boy's official cause and time of death are pending an autopsy.

''What we did learn in speaking with the mother is she believes she was being told by God to basically exorcise demons out of the child's body,'' Sheriff Richard Del Toro said during a news conference.

''And when the child had stopped moving and basically passed away, at that point she felt that the child had been released from those demons, and was waiting for him to basically come back, at that time.''

The disturbed mother, 41, spent the nearly two weeks before her son's decomposing body was found flooding social media with cryptic and obsessive religious posts, her Facebook showed.

Del Toro said the trouble woman exhibited erratic mood swings, shifting between laughing and crying, as Sherlocks searched the eerie Bedford Drive home.

''Being a parent, being out on a scene like that, seeing a 6-year-old child that was killed for no other reasons other than just someone being purely evil, it's hard,'' he added.

Wealthy philanthropist who spent fortune supporting Namibian desert lions is killed by one after leaving his tent to use the loo
[MAIL] A wealthy philanthropist who spent large sums of money supporting the Namibian desert lions has been killed by one of the predators after leaving his tent to use the toilet.

Businessman Bernd Kebbel, 59, was asleep with his wife Conny, 57, on a wildlife expedition at a camp in the north of the country, blissfully unaware that a hungry lioness was stalking him.

As the father-of-two climbed down a ladder from the safety of his rooftop tent, mounted on the top of a 4 x 4, the man-eating beast was lying in wait in the dark and attacked him.

Deadly flooding hits Nigeria, thousands displaced
[NYPOST] The corpse count from devastating flooding in a market town in Nigeria's north-central state of Niger rose to at least 151 on Saturday, the local emergency service said, amid efforts to find more victims.

Torrents of predawn rainfall early Thursday unleashed the devastating flood on Mokwa, nearly 236 miles west of Abuja and a major trading and transportation hub where northern Nigerian farmers sell beans, onions and other food to traders from the south.

The spokesperson for the Niger State emergency service, Ibrahim Audu Husseini, confirmed the updated fatality count to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Saturday. In addition to the rising corpse count, 11 people were maimed and more than 3,000 people were displaced, the official added.

At least 500 households across three communities were affected by the sudden and intense flood that built rapidly in about five hours, leaving roofs barely visible and surviving residents waist-deep in water, trying to salvage what they could and rescue others.

Australia asks China to explain 'extraordinary' military build-up
[BBC] Australia's defence minister Richard Marles has called on China to explain why it needs to have "such an extraordinary military build-up".

He said Beijing needs to provide greater transparency and reassurance as it is the "fundamental issue" for the region.

Meanwhile, the Philippines defence minister Gilberto Teodoro Jr has called China "absolutely irresponsible and reckless" in its actions in the South China Sea.

The ministers had separately addressed reporters on the sidelines of an Asian defence summit held in Singapore.

China has yet to respond to either Marles or Teodoro.

Organised by the think tank International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Shangri-la Dialogue has traditionally been anchored by the US and China, which have been jostling for power in the region.

This year China has sent a lower-level delegation and scrapped its speech. In the absence of a strong Chinese presence, the dialogue has been dominated by criticism and questions of Beijing posed by the US and its allies.

On Sunday morning, Marles asserted that "what we have seen from China is the single biggest increase in military capability and build up in conventional sense, by any country since the end of the Second World War".

It is not just the size of the military build-up that concerns other countries, he told reporters.

Mark Carney''s daughter Cleo caught up in Trump-Harvard standoff
The poor darling. Why did she choose Harvard when she could have gone to Oxford?
[NYPOST] The daughter of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney could be barred from returning to Harvard University in the fall thanks to the ongoing standoff between the Trump administration and the Ivy League school, The Post has learned.

Cleo Carney, who grew up in London while her father was Governor of the Bank of England, just finished her freshman year at the embattled Cambridge-based institution.

She's one of the nearly-7,000 international students whose time at Harvard could end after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem moved to terminate the school's student visa program for the 2025-2026 school year.

Government Corruption
'Deepstate has ruined everything.' US court sawed off Trump's tariff baton
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Malek Dudakov

[REGNUM] Donald Trump's trade wars have put the United States on the brink of another split. It will soon be two months since America's so-called "Liberation Day," when the White House announced sweeping tariffs on all countries around the world.

Since then, financial markets have been shaking, and Trump's team has had to back down and sharply adjust its policies. Now, the front line against tariff wars has opened up within America itself.

The current American president's initiatives have once again encountered legal obstacles. American businesses, which suffered from the tariffs, have begun to actively sue the White House.

Trump's opponents consider the very practice of introducing tariffs unilaterally by presidential decrees to be illegal and in violation of the US Constitution. After all, historically, trade regulation is considered the prerogative of Congress, that is, the legislative branch of government.

However, in recent decades, the executive branch in America has taken over many powers from Congress.

For example, in the past, wars could not be started without the go-ahead from legislators. Since Richard Nixon, this has become possible. Now, US presidents can send troops anywhere for a limited period of time without seeking congressional approval. The same applies to the tariff situation.

The White House declared a special trade emergency immediately after Trump's inauguration. The reason for this was the colossal US trade deficit, which in 2024 reached a record $1 trillion.

Then, already within the framework of the emergency regime, Trump’s team began to use special powers to introduce tariffs of tens or sometimes hundreds of percent.

Now, the Court of International Trade in New York has ruled that it is unconstitutional. And the decision was unanimous — even though the court included appointees of Ronald Reagan, Barack Obama, and Trump himself.

This does not close the possibility of introducing higher tariffs permanently. There are other grounds - for example, one can accuse other countries of creating a threat to US national security.

But using other routes will be technically more difficult, it will take more time and reduce the room for maneuver. In addition, you will have to accept the fact that the maximum amount and duration of duties will already be seriously limited.

Right now, White House lawyers are hoping to prevail in an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. It formally has a Republican majority — six conservative justices against three liberals. But even in that scenario, it is far from certain that the Supreme Court will side with Trump.

The fact is that right-wing judges in the US, as a rule, adhere to the concept of so-called "originalism". Its essence lies in the literal interpretation of the American constitution. At the same time, liberal judges like to interpret the country's basic law based on current realities, adjusting it to their views.

In this regard, conservative judges may well strip the White House of its power to impose tariffs and return that privilege back to Congress, as the Founding Fathers originally intended.

This development would be a powerful blow to the Trump team's position, which is already seriously weakened by the current legal battles. After all, any US trading partner now understands that it only takes a little time for the tariffs to be lifted by themselves due to internal discord in America.

For example, in July there were threats to increase tariff pressure on the European Union by introducing duties of up to 50%. Now the implementation of these plans is in question. Similar questions arise regarding the "anti-Chinese" tariffs, which were reduced only for a period of up to 90 days.

And any country will now seek a more advantageous deal with the US, since the tariff baton is no longer hanging over it.

A separate issue is the future of the secondary tariffs on Russia being discussed in the Senate. Hawks are pressing Trump to impose these tariffs, hoping to undermine the negotiating process.

However, the White House retains control over the Republican agenda, which has a majority in both houses of Congress.

This is a far cry from Trump's first term, when John McCain was still alive and neocon hawks were the mainstream of Washington Republicans.

Since then, the party has undergone a major ideological transformation, with MAGA Republicans now in control, many of whom lean toward isolationism.

Hawks, on the other hand, have to adapt to the new realities. As Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a former ardent neocon and now a true foreign policy realist, is doing.

So without Trump's go-ahead, the sanctions bill is unlikely to be put to a vote in Congress. And even if it is passed, the bill does not oblige the White House to immediately introduce new sanctions and tariffs.

There is room for maneuver - it is only necessary to conduct an investigation into the possibility of achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine. And only then make a decision on the implementation of tariffs.

While the realists in Trump's team hope to reach an agreement with Russia, sanctions are not to be expected. The latest statements by hawks like Keith Kellogg, who ruled out the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, show that even they understand the need to conduct a dialogue with Russia on normal terms.

It would be desirable to extrapolate this experience to negotiations with other countries - not to wave a tariff baton at them, but to conduct a sensible dialogue. And then there is a chance to achieve something worthwhile.

At the same time, the prospects for America's reindustrialization are becoming even more obscure. Some production will indeed be able to be pulled to the US, but there is no point in expecting mass construction of enterprises and factories for the most banal reasons.

There are not enough skilled workers and engineers, the experience and necessary competencies have long been lost, and production in America is too difficult and expensive.

There is one silver lining for Trump in the current tariff wars, however: They could offset the impact of the toughest tariffs, making it less likely that the U.S. economy will slide into another crisis.

The introduction of protective tariffs is not particularly popular among Americans: in surveys, only about a third of the population supports Trump's protectionist policy. But attitudes toward the state of their economy have begun to improve - the pessimism of April and May is beginning to go away.

Trump can ultimately tell his base that he really did try to revolutionize trade. But the judicial deep state has once again thwarted it.

Some tariffs of 10-15% will, of course, remain in force. Import prices will rise slightly, and individual industries inside America will earn money from this.

But a radical break in the US economic development trends that could really lead to an acute crisis will not happen.

The inertia of development in today's America is such that even non-systemic politicians like Trump are unable to overcome it.

Tapper: Harvard, Other Schools Have Negative View of Entire West, ‘Theology of Oppressor and Oppressed'
[Breitbart] On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s "Real Time," CNN host Jake Tapper stated that one of the issues with Harvard and other schools is "an academic theology of oppressor and oppressed." And college campuses are home to a view that sees the entirety of Western Civilization with suspicion.

While discussing antisemitism at Harvard, Tapper stated, "One of the things, this is far beyond Harvard, it has to do with an academic theology of oppressor and oppressed. If you only look at the world as oppressor versus oppressed, you then have to choose in a conflict, this group is the oppressor, this group is the oppressed. It’s also why, for example, there have been conflicts on other college campuses where gay students have protested things that are going on in Muslim countries having to do with the LGBTQ community in those countries and the gay students are made to be the oppressor because a lot of them are white. And that’s also what’s going on when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Israelis are made to be the oppressor, the Palestinians the oppressed and on and on and on. And that’s part of what’s going on at Harvard, that theology, that way of looking at the world."

Later, host Bill Maher said that there is an idea on campuses that "all of Western Civilization is suspect." Tapper responded, "Exactly."

Jasmine Crockett Tries to Explain Democrat Playbook, Spews Out Kamala-Worthy Gibberish Instead
[Red State] If Jasmine Crockett is the new face of the Democrat party, Republicans can sleep easier at night. The incendiary Texas Democrat congresswoman has made numerous headlines in recent months for her increasingly unhinged rhetoric, as she mocked Lone Star Gov. Greg Abbott’s use of a wheelchair (he was partially paralyzed by a falling tree in his 20s), she threatened TX Sen. Ted Cruz, and so much more.

But does she have the goods? Can she be the next leader the flailing Democrats so badly need?

In a word, no. The problem is, she makes no sense. In an interview with FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth posted to YouTube Wednesday, reporter Steven Dial asked her about the Democrat playbook for the midterms and whether the party would focus on discussing "kitchen table issues."

Her answer was all over the place and made her fellow congresscritter, New York’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, seem like a Mensa hall-of-famer in comparison:

Supreme Court votes 8-0 to Narrow Scope of Environmental Reviews
[SCOTUSblog] The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously ruled to limit the scope of environmental review required under a seminal 1970s environmental protection law. The move brought a proposed 88-mile railroad line that would transport crude oil from oilfields in northern Utah to refineries on the Gulf Coast one step closer to production. Environmental groups and a neighboring Colorado county had told the justices that the federal agency that approved the project had failed to consider its broader environmental costs.

In ruling for the railroad, the justices sketched out a relatively narrow role for courts reviewing future decisions under the National Environmental Policy Act, the landmark environmental law at the center of the case. Emphasizing that the “goal of the law is to inform agency decisionmaking, not to paralyze it,” Justice Brett Kavanagh explained that courts should give “substantial deference” to the agency’s determination as to what should be included in the environmental impact statement prepared for a project. “In deciding cases involving the American economy,” Kavanaugh concluded, “courts should strive, where possible, for clarity and predictability.”

KP CM intervenes after student tortured to death in school
[GEO.TV] Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, on Saturday, took notice of the incident wherein a fifth-grade student allegedly died due to corporal punishment by a private school principal in Jamrud and asked for a detailed report on the matter.

The incident took place during the morning assembly over a minor issue. Police registered the case, and further investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had escaped from his bonds and overwhelmed his guard using the bludgeon the faithful Filomena had smuggled to him in the loaf of bread...
the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Private School Regulatory Authority has issued directions to all private schools to strictly enforce the ban on corporal punishment within schools.

The CM ordered the authority to conduct an impartial and transparent inquiry and submit a report, stating that if the allegations were proven to be true, the government would take strict action against the culprit.

While condemning the incident, Gandapur said violence against children in educational institutions was a serious crime under the law and those responsible for it deserved no leniency.

He also stressed that effective measures should be taken to prevent such incidents of violence against children in schools, assuring that justice would be provided to the victim's parents.

Through letters, the KP private schools regulatory authority reminded the heads of private schools that corporal punishment is prohibited in private schools, instructing them to ensure implementation of this ban.

Furthermore, it was also mentioned in the letter that those found guilty may face up to six months in jail or a fine of 50,000 rupees.

IDF scotches women's infantry training after candidates fail to meet fitness standards
[Ynet] Military chief orders revised pilot for next year as IDF halts current female infantry mobility training, following Ground Forces chief's advice; after 6 months, army finds soldiers unlikely to meet required physical and combat fitness benchmarks.

While the findings indicated that the female trainees demonstrated strong professional performance, comparable to that of their male counterparts, their physical and combat fitness levels fell short of the standards required to qualify for the role. The IDF also cited medical data showing potential health risks for the women still in training, particularly in light of the expected increase in physical intensity.

Given the projected ineffectiveness of continuing the current track, the IDF decided to bring the pilot to an early end.

The military emphasized that the program received "extensive command-level attention," with close oversight from medical and fitness personnel, as well as the training staff, to ensure the women had optimal conditions for success in a physically demanding environment. A new pilot will only be launched after lessons are drawn from the current trial experience.

Scientists reveal consequences of largest solar mass ejection this year
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Scientists have recorded the largest mass ejection on the Sun this year, which could lead to strong magnetic storms. This was reported on May 31 by Sergei Bogachev, head of the solar astronomy laboratory at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

“The power of the emission is inferior to similar events last year in May, which led to storms of level 5, but, tentatively, it could lead to the largest series of magnetic storms this year with peak values up to G4 (the class preceding the highest fifth point),” the specialist explained.

He added that calculations show an exceptionally high plasma speed. According to scientists' forecast, solar matter may approach the Earth late in the evening of June 1.

Bogachev specified that the emission occurred as a result of a strong solar flare of level M8.2, which was recorded at 03:05 Moscow time in active region No. 4100. The scientist explained that it is located in the center of the visible disk of the Sun, practically on the Sun-Earth line.

According to him, this situation excludes the possibility that the ejected material will pass by the Earth.
