(AQAP), further expanding the group’s tactical capabilities.

"This growing collaboration in weapons, technology, and training poses a serious concern for the security of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait," the report stated. Analysts also warned that the alliance complicates surveillance along a vulnerable 1,800-mile stretch of coastline spanning the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and western Indian Ocean.

A former U.S. State Department official cautioned that continued American disengagement from Somalia could create opportunities for al-Shabaab to expand its operations into neighboring Kenya and Æthiopia, while further solidifying its ties with the Houthis.

"This isn’t just a regional threat—it could eventually impact global trade and maritime security if left unchecked," the official said.
According to a report cited by The Washington Post, the Houthis have dispatched bomb-making experts to Jilib, a stronghold of Al-Shabaab in Somalia’s Middle Juba region, signaling a new and dangerous phase in regional militancy.

The report suggests that the two groups have strengthened their ties, coordinating the movement of weapons and fighters via the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean—routes increasingly monitored by U.S. naval forces deployed to counter Houthi expansionism.

“This kind of cooperation opens the door to the exchange of highly lethal technologies,” a former senior U.S. State Department official told The Washington Post, adding that Washington’s reduced presence in Somalia may have created a security vacuum that the militants are now exploiting.

There are growing fears that Al-Shabaab, emboldened by this new support, could stage attacks beyond Somalia’s borders, particularly in Kenya and Ethiopia, using weapons and explosives supplied by the Houthis.

Intelligence sources have warned that a potential withdrawal of U.S. troops from Somalia could seriously undermine years of progress in stabilizing the country and combating Al-Shabaab, which has waged an insurgency for more than 16 years.

Barcelona ends ‘friendship agreement’ with Tel Aviv over Gaza war
[IsraelTimes] Barcelona’s city council voted yesterday to cut institutional ties with the Israeli government and suspend its friendship agreement with the city of Tel Aviv, citing alleged violations of international law and the rights of Palestinians.

The motion, supported by the governing Socialist party along with far-left and leftist pro-independence groups, calls for an end to all official relations with Israel “until respect for international law” and the “basic rights of the Palestinian people” are restored.

Barcelona will also suspend a 1998 friendship agreement with Tel Aviv-Jaffa, and it urged the trade fair organizer Fira de Barcelona not to host Israeli government pavilions or companies involved in the arms trade or profiting from the conflict in Gaza.

A similar recommendation was made to the Port of Barcelona.

“The suffering and death in Gaza over the past year and a half, and recent attacks by the Israeli government, make any relationship unviable,” Barcelona’s Mayor Jaume Collboni said during the council session.

It is not the first time Barcelona has moved to suspend ties with Israel. In 2023, then-mayor Ada Colau took similar steps, which were later reversed when Collboni won local elections.

While the move has little practical impact, the decision by Spain’s second-largest city — a top tourist destination and home to one of the world’s best-known football clubs — adds to a growing list of critics of Israel amid the devastating war in Gaza.

Macron: ‘We’ll kill our credibility if we abandon Gaza,’ grant Israel ‘a free pass’; Katz: Recognition of Paleo State will be met with Israeli settlements on the ground
So much for his pious proclamations about protecting France’s Jews, or Israel’s. No doubt he is more afraid of France’s Moslem colonists.
[IsraelTimes] French President Emmanuel Macron further hits out at Israel over the war with Hamas in Gaza, amid an escalating war of words between Jerusalem and Paris.

“If we abandon Gaza, if we consider there is a free pass for Israel, even if we do condemn the terrorist attacks, we will kill our credibility,” Macron tells a top defense forum in Singapore, adding: “And this is why we do reject double standard.

Israel accuses France’s Macron of ‘crusade against the Jewish state’
[IsraelTimes] After France’s president says European countries should adopt a tougher stance against Israel if it doesn’t change its humanitarian aid policies in Gaza, Israel accuses Emmanuel Macron of embarking on a “crusade against the Jewish state.”

The reference to a crusade is a loaded charge. French knights and religious leaders played a leading role in the medieval religious wars launched by European Christians — widely referred to as the Franks — primarily to free the Holy Land from Muslim rule. Jews in France, German-speaking territories and the Land of Israel were targeted by Crusaders in bouts of extreme violence.

Jews still read agonizing poems from the period on Tisha B’Av, their national day of mourning.

“The facts do not interest Macron,” says the Foreign Ministry in a post on X. “There is no humanitarian blockade. That is a blatant lie. Israel is currently facilitating the entry of aid to Gaza through two parallel efforts.”

The Foreign Ministry points to the entry of almost 900 aid trucks into Gaza this week, and the debut of the Gaza Humanitarian Fund distribution sites, which have delivered over two million meals in four days, according to its own account. Aid deliveries to Gaza resumed last week after Israel barred goods from entering the enclave on March 2.

“Instead of applying pressure on the jihadist terrorists, Macron wants to reward them with a Palestinian state,” says the Foreign Ministry. “No doubt its national day will be October 7.”

Macron said earlier today that recognition of a Palestinian state, with conditions, is “not only a moral duty, but a political necessity.”

France is considering recognizing a Palestinian state ahead of a United Nations conference, which France and Saudi Arabia are co-hosting between June 17-20, to lay out the parameters for a roadmap to a Palestinian state, while ensuring Israel’s security.

“It is against Israel — under attack on multiple fronts in an attempt to destroy it — that Macron seeks to impose sanctions,” continues the Foreign Ministry.

“Hamas, for its part, has already praised Macron’s statements. Hamas knows why.”

At old-new settlement, Katz lashes out at Macron: Recognition of Palestinian state ‘on paper’ will be met with settlements ‘on the ground’
[IsraelTimes] On a visit to the site of the Sa-Nur settlement, Defense Minister Israel Katz hits out at French President Emmanuel Macron, who said earlier today that the recognition of a Palestinian state, with conditions, is a “moral duty.”

Katz’s visit to the West Bank comes after the Israeli government approved the construction of 22 new settlements, including the reestablishment of Sa-Nur, which was evacuated in 2005 alongside Israel’s disengagement from the Gaza Strip.

Lauding the government’s decision as a “historic moment” for the settler movement, Katz says it also serves as a “clear message to Macron and his friends.”

“They will recognize a Palestinian state on paper — and we will build the Jewish-Israeli state on the ground. The paper will be thrown in the trash can of history and the State of Israel will flourish and prosper,” Katz declares.

“Do not threaten us with sanctions because you will not bring us to our knees. The State of Israel will not bow its head in the face of threats,” the defense minister says. “We are a people with a long and glorious history. We will stand tall and continue to lead the State of Israel on a safe and strong path, until victory.”

Katz is accompanied on his visit by Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, IDF Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, Civil Administration chief Brig. Gen. Hisham Ibrahim, and Defense Ministry military secretary Brig. Gen. Guy Markizeno.

He says that his connection to Sa-Nur is a personal one, as he served there as a paratrooper during his military service and later “fought against uprooting the settlement as part of the disengagement plan.”

“I promised then that we would return and today we have returned here, with the decision to re-establish the settlement, along with the establishment of 21 additional new settlements in Judea and Samaria,” says Katz, referring to the West Bank by its Biblical name.

“This is a historic moment for settlement in Judea and Samaria, which will bolster it as Israel’s protective wall, and will also strengthen security in this region,” he says of the new settlements.

And, he says, it is a “crushing response” to the terror organizations that are trying to harm and weaken our hold on this region of the country.”

Lawsuit: Hamas captors showed hostage report about Columbia protesters, called them ‘our own people’
[IsraelTimes] Hamas captors holding Israeli hostage Shlomi Ziv showed him news about protesters at Columbia University, according to a new legal filing.

While playing the news report for Ziv, his captors said, “You see, we have our own people everywhere,” the lawsuit says.

“They then told him that Hamas has an ‘army’ operating out of Gaza that focuses specifically on media and sending Hamas propaganda and messaging throughout America and all around the world,” the lawsuit says.

The legal filing is an amended complaint filed yesterday in the federal Southern District court of New York.

The new details about Ziv’s captivity add to his testimony in a separate lawsuit. In that case, Ziv said his captors told him they were collaborating with campus protesters.

The lawsuit identified Ziv’s captor as Abdallah Aljamal, a writer for the Palestine Chronicle, a news outlet run by the People Media Project, a US-based, tax-exempt nonprofit.

A federal judge has ruled in favor of the plaintiffs in that case earlier this month, saying there was reason to believe the nonprofit knew Aljamal was holding Israelis captive and affiliated with Hamas.

Ziv was rescued from Gaza in an IDF operation in June 2024.

COAS vows to thwart hostile attempts aimed at derailing Pakistan''s anti-terror efforts
[GEO.TV] Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday asserted that Pakistain would never be coerced and the inimical designs to distract the country's efforts against the war on terrorism will be comprehensively defeated.

The army chief made the remarks while addressing student officers and faculty of the Command and Staff College Quetta, read a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Addressing the event, the field marshal reiterated the resolve to defeat any aggression and the ability to deal with threats across the entire conflict spectrum.

Commenting on the global and regional environment, the COAS shed light on the character of the emerging conflict, with particular emphasis on India's increasingly dangerous propensity to use unprovoked military aggression against Pakistain.

West to push UN atomic agency to declare Iran in breach of non-proliferation obligations
[IsraelTimes] Western powers are preparing to push the UN nuclear watchdog’s board at its next quarterly meeting to declare Iran in breach of its non-proliferation obligations for the first time in almost 20 years, a move bound to enrage Tehran, diplomats say.

The step is likely to further complicate talks between the United States and Iran aimed at imposing fresh restrictions on Iran’s rapidly advancing nuclear program.

Washington and its European allies Britain, France and Germany, known as the E3, proposed past resolutions adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency’s 35-nation Board of Governors calling on Iran to quickly take steps such as explain uranium traces the IAEA found at undeclared sites.

The IAEA is preparing to send member states its quarterly reports on Iran before the next board meeting, which begins on June 9. One of those will be a longer, “comprehensive” account of issues including Iran’s cooperation, as demanded by a board resolution in November, and diplomats expect it to be damning.

“We expect the comprehensive report to be tough, but there were already no doubts over Iran not keeping its non-proliferation commitments,” one European official says.

Once that report is issued, the United States will draft a proposed resolution text declaring Iran in breach of its so-called safeguards obligations, three diplomats say. A fourth says the Western powers are preparing a draft resolution without going into specifics.

The text will be discussed with countries on the board in the coming days before being formally submitted to the board by the four Western powers during the quarterly meeting, as has happened with previous resolutions, diplomats say.

[IsraelTimes] Detainees kept in Salameh police station; all given restraining order from Likud HQ, 14 required to post NIS 1,800 bond

All 61 detainees who were arrested Wednesday night during an anti-government demonstration at the Likud party headquarters in Tel Aviv were released Thursday from detention under various conditions.

The Protest Detainee Legal Support Front, which provides anti-government protesters with legal aid, pointed out that some of the detainees spent nearly a day in detention and accused police of prolonging the release process to punish them.

The protests marked the 600 days in which the hostages being held by Hamas

During the protests, dozens broke into the Likud party’s Metzudat Ze’ev headquarters building in Tel Aviv, and some chained themselves to the stair railings outside of Netanyahu’s office.

At the same time, dozens demonstrated outside the building and blocked the street, leading police to forcibly remove many protesters over several hours.

Police accused the protesters of trespassing, disturbing public order, causing property damage, setting fires and fighting with officers.

The protesters insisted, however, that the demonstration had been non-violent mostly peaceful and accused police of using violence when removing them from the site, in particular with the use of mounted officers to corral demonstrators.

Footage of the demonstrations showed mounted coppers using their horses to charge at protesters.

Police said two officers were maimed during the protests, claiming that one of whom broke his arm as a result of protester violence.

Of the 61 detainees, 45 were released by the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court with a restraining order of 15 days from the Likud headquarters building.

Another 13 detainees were released on condition of posting a NIS 1,800 ($520) personal bond and a restraining order from the building for 50 meters for 15 days, while another detainee had the same physical restrictions but did not need to post bond.

The police had requested significantly stiffer conditions but the court rejected those terms.

A final detainee who is suspected of arson was placed under house arrest until June 1, and was barred by the court from contacting the others involved in the incident for 30 days. The detainee was also required to post a third-party NIS 5,000 ($1,430) bond and a personal bond of NIS 1,800.

Israel minister vows to 'build Jewish Israeli state' in West Bank
[GEO.TV] Defence Minister Israel Katz vowed on Friday to build a "Jewish Israeli state" in the occupied West Bank, a day after the government announced the creation of 22 new settlements in the Paleostinian territory.

He said the move was a "clear message" to French President Emmanuel Macron, who has recently stepped up his support for the Paleostinians, and who Israel s foreign ministry accused of carrying out a "crusade against the Jewish state."

"This is a decisive response to the terrorist organizations that are trying to harm and weaken our hold on this land," Katz said in a video published by his office.

"It is also a clear message to Macron and his associates: they will recognise a Paleostinian state on paper -- but we will build the Jewish Israeli state here on the ground," he added.

"The paper will be thrown into the trash bin of history, and the State of Israel will flourish and prosper."

Katz was speaking during a visit to the Sa-Nur settlement outpost in the northern West Bank.

and Turkiye were planning to meet with leaders from the Paleostinian Authority in Ramallah on Sunday.

The goal was to promote the establishment of a Paleostinian state, especially with Saudi Arabia and La Belle France planning a UN conference next month to help advance a two-state solution.

But the Walla news website and The Times of Israel are now quoting unnamed Israeli sources as saying the visit will be blocked amid Israel's efforts to combat the internationally-backed two-state solution.

Senior Israeli official says Jerusalem won’t cooperate with moves that harm its security, claiming PA’s Abbas was slated to use visit to advance Palestinian statehood

Israel has decided to block a delegation of Middle Eastern foreign ministers led by Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat from making a landmark visit to the West Bank, a senior Israeli official told The Times of Israel on Friday.

The foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, Egypt and Jordan were slated to meet with Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....>
in Ramallah on Sunday.

The senior Israeli official said that the PA was planning to use the delegation’s visit to "promote the establishment of a Paleostinian state."

"Israel will not cooperate with moves designed to harm it and its security," the Israeli official asserted, claiming that a Paleostinian state would become "a terrorist state in the heart of the Land of Israel."

The Arab ministers were not planning to visit Israel, but because Israel controls the borders of the West Bank, its approval is required for them to enter the territory.

The visit by Prince Faisal bin Farhan was supposed to be the first by a Saudi foreign minister since Israel took over the West Bank in 1967.

The Israeli entry ban is likely the further strain Israel’s relations with its Arab neighbors, which have already deteriorated significantly since the outbreak of the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
war.

The move will also likely raise further questions over the legitimacy of Israel’s control of the West Bank.

In attempting to justify the decision, the senior Israeli official noted that the PA has yet to condemn Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
’s October 7 onslaught and accused Ramallah of violating agreements with Israel.

The PA has indeed yet to explicitly condemn the October 7 attack, instead issuing more vague condemnations of violence against all civilians, as Israel’s war in Gaza intensified. More recently, though, Abbas has issued repeated condemnations of Hamas, calling on the terror group to release the remaining hostages, disarm and give up control of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Big Shirley was still trying to snatch Nunzio bald-headed. She was already halfway there...
Israel continues to withhold hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenues that it is supposed to transfer to Ramallah each month in violation of the Oslo Accords. Jerusalem says it withholds some of the funds to offset payments the PA makes to the families of Paleostinian security prisoners and slain attackers. Abbas signed a decree in February ending the conditioning of such payments on the length of one’s prison sentence.

Paleostinian ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mazen Ghoneim told Saudi state-backed Al Arabiya that the rare joint ministerial visit comes as the war in Gaza nears its 20th month, and Ghoneim said it marks "a clear message [that] the Paleostinian cause is a central issue to Arabs and Moslems."

Next month, Saudi Arabia and La Belle France will co-chair an international conference meant to resurrect the two-state solution at the United Nations

headquarters in New York. La Belle France is considering recognizing a Paleostinian state during the confab. Israel is already taking steps, it says are aimed at combating the effort, including establishing new settlements throughout the West Bank to further harm efforts to advance a two-state solution.

Sunday’s visit was supposed to mark a further boost to the legitimacy of the Paleostinian Authority, which has faced pressure from Arab and Western allies to reform, as they push for the body to replace Hamas as the governing authority in the Gaza Strip after the war. Israel has blocked such a transition, but is facing mounting pushback from Arab allies, who have expressed willingness to assist in the post-war management of Gaza if Jerusalem allows Ramallah to gain a foothold there.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Opium poppy cultivation surges in Iran’s Kermanshah
[Rudaw] Iran’s Kermanshah province is witnessing an increase in opium poppy cultivation, driven by water shortages, limited employment opportunities for farmers, and growing demand.

"Farmers have faced many problems and they are forced to do this work because they have no other source of income. All their wealth lies in agriculture, and if they plant wheat, barley, or chickpeas, a single year of drought can destroy their crops," a farmer from the province told Rudaw on the condition of anonymity.

Opium poppies are more drought-tolerant than the traditional crops and, according to the farmer, "the income is at least ten times greater."

The Kurdish provinces in Iran’s west have always struggled with high unemployment and poverty, blamed on a lack of investment and shortage of services.

"My home is in Kermanshah. I have no work and the economic situation is bad. There is high unemployment in Kermanshah. My family is in Kermanshah. I come to the village and together with my relatives who have land, we jointly cultivate poppies," said another farmer.

The authorities are cracking down on the poppy farms. The prosecutor’s office in Kermanshah warned in January that "serious action will be taken against those who engage in opium poppy cultivation," according to the state-run IRNA news agency.

"Last year, a large number of police came and destroyed everything and completely took away the crop, but thanks be to God, this year is good and we are busy harvesting the crop," another farmer told Rudaw, adding that they have buyers coming from Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad, and Shiraz.

The opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) has a range of uses. "It's a traditional crop and is used for medicine and sedatives," said a farmer.

The opium poppy is a source of opioids such as morphine and codeine, used for pain relief and cough suppression. The plant is also cultivated illegally for narcotic production, with extracted opium often refined into heroin.

Drug-related crimes account for many of Iran’s executions, which Amnesty International in June called a "deadly war on the poor" that targets disadvantaged and marginalized communities. The monitor documented 505 drug-related executions in 2024, making up 52 percent of the total.

Report: Saudi, Qatari, UAE leaders told Trump they oppose strike on Iran
”Dear, dear Iran, please don’t hurt us!”
How fortunate that it isn’t up to them.
[IsraelTimes] The leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates told US President Donald Trump during his Middle East visit earlier this month that they oppose a military strike on Iran’s nuclear program, the Walla news site reports, citing three officials familiar with the details.

They also told Trump that he should keep working for a nuclear deal with Iran, according to the outlet.

Qatari Emir Tamim Al Thani, Emirati President Mohammed Bin Zayed and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman said that their countries would be targeted by Iran in case of an attack.

US officials are worried that Israel could decide to carry out strikes on Iran’s nuclear program without much warning, The New York Times reported yesterday.

...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...>
, according to two Gulf sources close to government circles and two Iranian officials.

Present at the closed-door meeting in Tehran, which took place on April 17 in the presidential compound, were Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, armed forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the sources said.

Prince Khalid, who was Saudi ambassador to Washington during Trump’s first term, warned Iranian officials that the US leader has little patience for drawn-out negotiations, according to the four sources.

Trump had unexpectedly announced just over a week earlier, in the presence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that direct talks were taking place with Tehran, aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear program in return for sanctions relief.

While the media covered the 37-year-old prince’s visit, the content of King Salman’s covert message has not been previously clarified.

In Tehran, Prince Khalid told the group of senior Iranian officials that Trump’s team would want to reach a deal quickly, and the window for diplomacy would close fast, according to the four sources.

The Saudi minister said it would be better to reach a deal with the US than face the possibility of an Israeli attack if the talks broke down, according to the two Gulf sources.

He argued that the region, riven by the war sparked by the Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
terror group’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, could not withstand a further escalation in tensions, according to the two Gulf sources and one senior foreign diplomat familiar with the discussions.

On Thursday, it was reported that during Trump’s trip to the Gulf earlier this month, the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. , and the United Arab Emirates told the American leader they oppose a military strike on Iran’s nuclear program.

Rooters was unable to determine the impact of the prince’s message on Iran’s leadership.

In the meeting, Pezeshkian responded that Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. wanted a deal to ease economic pressure through the lifting of Western sanctions, the four sources said.

However,

the Iranian officials, the sources added, expressed concerns over the Trump administration’s "unpredictable" approach to negotiations — which have veered from allowing limited uranium enrichment to demanding the complete dismantling of Tehran’s enrichment program.

Trump also has threatened to use military force if diplomacy fails to rein in the holy manal establishment’s nuclear ambitions.

One of the Iranian sources said that Pezeshkian emphasized Tehran’s eagerness to reach a deal but that Iran was not willing to sacrifice its enrichment program just because Trump wanted an agreement.

Authorities in Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Israel did not respond to Rooters’ requests for comment. The White House did not directly address Rooters’ questions about whether it was aware of the Saudi warning to Iran.

"President Trump has made it clear: make a deal, or face grave consequences, and the whole world is clearly taking him seriously, as they should," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

Iran, which avowedly seeks Israel’s destruction, has consistently denied seeking to acquire nuclear weapons. However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
it has been enriching uranium to levels that have no peaceful application, has obstructed international inspectors from checking its nuclear facilities, and has expanded its ballistic missile capabilities, while several officials have increasingly warned that they could pursue the bomb.

The ongoing talks between Washington and Tehran have already been through five rounds to resolve the decades-long nuclear dispute, but multiple stumbling blocks remain, including the key issue of enrichment.

WSJ: US PREPARING ’TERM SHEET’ INCLUDING BAN ON ENRICHMENT
The Wall Street Journal reported early Friday that Israel is worried the US will drop its demand that Iran fully stop enrichment.

Confirming that the two countries aren’t seeing eye-to-eye as to the best way to approach a new nuclear agreement, an unnamed senior US official told the news outlet that there are "some disagreements with Israel over how to approach this right now."

The official seemingly indicated, however, that the US could eventually back Israel’s pursuit of military action, "if they [Iran] don’t want to make a deal."

The report also said the US is preparing a "term sheet" as part of an interim framework for a deal, as talks progress, and that the sheet will include a total ban on enrichment.

The senior US official told the newspaper: "If they don’t accept these terms, it’s not going to be a good day for the Iranians."

That report also noted that, with negotiations ongoing, Iran has been digging beneath its main Natanz enrichment plant.

Citing people with knowledge of Iran’s nuclear program, the report said the work "is far from complete, but eventually it could allow Iran to produce fuel for nuclear weapons out of reach of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s," noting this could sway Israel in the direction of an attack, even with talks still ongoing.

Trump said on Wednesday that he had warned Netanyahu last week not to take any actions that could disrupt nuclear talks with Iran, and said the two sides were "very close to a solution now."

According to American officials, the US hopes an interim framework will address Israel’s concerns and stave off any imminent attack.

"No one in the Trump administration has the patience for a years (sic) of drawn-out negotiations, particularly with the risk of Israeli strikes on Iran," the Journal reported.

, the latest in the southern town of Yater.

"I support the UNIFIL peacekeepers whether they are wrong or right. Locals, even if they are supporters of Amal or Hezbollah, should try not to overreact," Berri told local al-Joumhouria newspaper in remarks published Friday. "We know that Israel is against the UNIFIL's presence in south Lebanon and has targeted them many times. This alone is enough for us to support their presence," he said, adding that "their presence has also made a positive impact on the economy in southern villages."

Clashes have increased in recent weeks, with residents insisting that any UNIFIL patrol should be accompanied by Lebanese Army troops.

The U.N. mission was created to oversee the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon after Israel's 1978 invasion and today UNIFIL operates in southern Lebanon at the request of the Lebanese government and under a mandate from the U.N. Security Council, but Hezbollah supporters in Lebanon frequently accuse the U.N. mission of collusion with Israel. Israel meanwhile accuses the peacekeepers of turning a blind eye to alleged Hezbollah military activities in southern Lebanon.

Report: Hezbollah changed entire military and security structure after major blow
[NAHARNET] Hezbollah changed ''its entire military and security structure, from the Shoura Council to the lowest-ranking member,'' after it was dealt a ''major blow'' during the latest war with Israel, a source close to Hezbollah said.

The group ''lost most of its military capabilities'' due to the blow to its security apparatus, the source told al-Arabiya's al-Hadath channel.
“They’re all dead, Jim.”
''Hezbollah's leadership became convinced that the old structure was totally exposed to Israel and that Israel fully knew how the structure was functioning,'' the source added.
True.
''Hezbollah minimized the sizes of its units to avoid being infiltrated,'' the source said.
They can try, I suppose.
