Yes, she's very nice. But I can't help noticing that was a more genteel era when phonographs and radios were fine furniture and not plastic boxes. For a few decades, television sets were that way too. Now they're just flat black screens hanging on the wall.

[IsraelTimes] The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) says that a staff member held captive by Houthi rebels in Yemen has died.
“WFP is grief-stricken and outraged about the death of a staff member while in detention in northern Yemen,” the agency says in a statement on X.
He was identified as a Yemeni staff member “arbitrarily detained by local authorities since 23 January,” though the circumstances of his death were not specified.
The employee, who WFP said had worked for the UN since 2017, left behind a wife and two children.
The United Nations announced the suspension Monday of its activities in Yemen’s Saada region, a Huthi stronghold, after the rebels detained multiple personnel there this year.
The Iran-backed Houthi have arrested dozens of staffers from the UN and other humanitarian organizations, most of them since the middle of 2024, as Yemen’s decade-long civil war grinds on.
In January alone, the rebels detained eight UN workers, including six in Saada, which adds to the dozens of NGO and UN personnel detained since June.
The Houthi claimed the June arrests included “an American-Israeli spy network” operating under the cover of humanitarian organizations — allegations emphatically rejected by the UN Human Rights Office.

Saada's police department announced that 1,117 non-combatants were killed in 2024 due to 1,015 violations by the Saudi military, despite the agreement on de-escalation and a ceasefire.

According to the Telegram channel Mash, Yaryzhev previously sentenced relatives of radicals involved in the explosion of the Nevsky Express to suspended sentences, when a grenade launcher, a grenade, and a Makarov pistol were found on them during their arrest.
According to one version, Yaryzhev acted at the request of the Chairman of the Council of Judges of the Republic of Ingushetia, Magomed Aushev. After the prosecutor's office intervened, Aushev was stripped of his status as a judge and was put under investigation. Now Yaryzhev may also be held accountable, the channel noted.

The Crocus City Hall concert hall, which burned down during the terrorist attack, is currently closed.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Investigative Committee of Russia has completed its investigation of the criminal case on the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk, Oleg Vlasov, a lawyer for one of the accused, said on February 6. The victims will be the first to get acquainted with the materials. There are at least a thousand of them, so it is unlikely that the case will be sent to court in the near future, the lawyer explained.

Swedish police said on Tuesday they had apprehended one person in the Stockholm area on suspicion of preparing terrorist crimes in a case concerning violent mostly peaceful Islamist extremism.
The person was suspected of preparation for a terrorist offense, aggravated participation in a terrorist organization, preparation for attempted murder and preparing to violate legislation on the use of explosives, police said.

Police conducted the operation in the capital area on Tuesday morning and the arrest unfolded calmly, they added, without identifying the suspect or giving detail on the potential target.
Sweden in 2023 raised its terrorism alert to the second-highest level and warned of threats against Swedes at home and abroad after public burnings of the Koran were met with outrage among Moslems and threats from jihadists.
In late January, Salwan Momika, the lead activist behind the Koran-burnings, was rubbed out, in an apparent retaliation attack for the demonstrations. Days later, a Swedish court convicted his partner, Salwan Najem, of hate crimes related to the men’s activism.
Some in Sweden have pointed fingers at Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... for Momika’s killing, following reports that the Islamic Theocratic Republic has recruited organized crime in the country to attack political opponents.
[NPASYRIA] The Iraqi government has denied reports that it has granted temporary residency to former officers and commanders of the fallen Syrian regime, following claims circulating on social media and in some media outlets.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, spokesperson for Iraq's Interior Ministry, refuted the allegations, emphasizing that no such measure had been taken.
''Some social media platforms have reported that the Iraqi government has granted temporary residency on humanitarian grounds to dozens of officers and military commanders from the former Syrian regime who sought refuge in Iraq on December 7 and 8,'' Miri said, as quoted by the Iraqi News Agency.
''We categorically deny these claims and stress the importance of obtaining information only from official sources, avoiding the spread of misleading rumors,'' he added.

The drone had been flown from Israel into the southern Gaza Strip, and was being tracked throughout its flight, the military says. In recent months, the IDF says, it has identified several attempts to smuggle weapons and drugs into Gaza using drones. The drone was apparently being controlled by smugglers on the Israeli side.
An Israeli strike targeted the drone and the two suspects who taken possession of it. One was killed and the second was wounded, according to Palestinian media.

[NPASYRIA] Fifty-eight families, totaling 305 individuals from Deir ez-Zor departed on Tuesday from the Arisha camp in the countryside of Hasakah city in northeastern Syria after 8 years of displacement.
Salwa Jejo, co-chair of the camp, told North Press that these families return to their homes after the fall of the Syrian regime, a decision further driven by the dwindling support from relief organizations.
The voluntary relocation efforts for the displaced will continue until a full return is secured, Jajo added.
She also acknowledged the deep-seated fears among returnees, noting that many of their homes have been destroyed in the war or lie too close to dangerous minefields.
According to camp administration, Arisha camp currently shelters around 14,000 displaced people from various regions of Syria.
