IDF: Yet another ballistic missile launched from Yemen successfully intercepted outside Israel’s borders
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says a ballistic missile launched at Israel from Yemen was successfully intercepted by air defenses outside of Israel’s borders.

Sirens sounded in central Israel amid the incident.

Shrapnel from the interception reportedly fell within Israel. There are no immediate reports of injuries.
Update from Breitbart, courtesy of Skidmark:
[Iran backed] Houthis Fire Another Missile at Central Israel, Defying President-elect Trump

The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen fired another ballistic missile at Israel on Sunday morning, in a gesture of defiance against President-elect Donald Trump and despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Sirens were activated across a wide swath of central Israel once the missile was detected:

The Houthi rebels evidently claimed they had launched a “hypoersonic” missile, but given that hypersonic missiles are an advanced technology possessed by very few countries, and are almost impossible to intercept, that seems unlikely.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement: “Following the sirens that sounded between 06:21-06:22 in the areas of the Shfela, Lakhish and the Yarkon, one projectile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the IAF [Israeli Air Force] prior to its crossing into Israeli territory.”

Israel has faced a war on seven fronts — Lebanon, Gaza, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Iran, and the West Bank — and only the Lebanese front is quiet, for now, as the result of a ceasefire that represented a victory for Israel over Hezbollah.

Israel is still fighting in Gaza, where Hamas holds 101 Israeli hostages. And despite Israeli responses, the Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen continue to launch missiles.

President Joe Biden removed the Houthis from a terrorism list upon taking office in 2021, reversing an action by President Donald Trump, who returns to office in less than two months but who has already had an impact on the Middle East.

Trump’s election arguably encouraged the ceasefire in Lebanon, and has apparently prompted Hamas to seek new negotiations on a ceasefire and hostage deal. Iran has also said that it called off a planned third ballistic missile attack on Israel due to Trump’s openness to negotiations.

However, Iran is still determined to show that its proxies are undeterred, and has not stopped the Houthis from attacking Israel. The rebel group also still poses a threat to international shipping through the Red Sea.

Leaflets in London: ‘Every Zionist Needs to Leave Britain or Be Slaughtered’
[PJMedia] GB News reported Wednesday that "leaflets with the writing ’every Zionist needs to leave Britannia or be slaughtered’ were found spread around the streets of Hendon, a predominantly Jewish neighbourhood in north London." The message itself was bad enough, but the fact that it has gotten so little attention was a disquieting indication of how much antisemitism has already become normalized amidst the left’s relentless propaganda campaign to isolate and demonize Israel after the Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
massacre of 1,200 Israelis on Oct. 7, 2023.

If any other group had been targeted with the threat to leave any country or face mass slaughter, the headlines would have been international and insistent. But this? Hatred of Jews, not just of Zionists, has become a dispiritingly common feature of the contemporary landscape.

GB News noted also that "the threatening message was written in Hebrew," just in case any of its targets might not have understood it in English, and that as if that weren’t enough, the leaflet added, this time in English, "Zionist Free Zone." It also said: "Ha, made you pick up litter you zianazi [sic] freak." Clever!
Sounds like ACA JOE is on vacation
This could have been the handiwork either of leftist ideologues who are determined to destroy the Jewish state because, in its irreducible particularity, it interferes with their collectivist, internationalist vision. It could also have been the work of Moslems, who make up a considerable and growing population in London, and many of whom believe, in accord with the Qur’an, that the Jews are the worst enemies of the Moslems (5:82) and that Moslems have a divine responsibility to drive them out of land that was once ruled by Moslems and therefore must be ruled by Islamic law forever (2:191).

Isaaz Zarfati, the Executive Director of Stand With Us UK, took note of the prevailing winds and said: "We are witnessing a troubling trend of red lines being repeatedly crossed. This is not just another wave that will pass if we remain passive." Indeed. "We must take those threats and statements seriously," Zarfati added, "because they will one day turn into actions, and decisive steps are needed to combat this alarming phenomenon."

That’s right. If the government of London Mayor Sadiq Khan doesn’t take decisive action, and identify and prosecute those who are behind these threats, the perpetrators will only be encouraged and will continue and escalate their activities. This is clear from the fact that just last month, right before the beginning of Yom Kippur, the Hendon Golf Club, which is in the same neighborhood where the mass murder threats were found, was likewise targeted. "Raked into bunkers on the golf course" were National Socialist symbols and messages including "F*** the Jews" and "Heil Hitler
...late Fuehrer of Germany, founder of the Third Reich, currently communing with his pals Himmler and Heydrich. He is reincarnated every few days, sometimes every few hour if it's an election year, as a politician somebody doesn't like...
At that time, Khan stated: "I’m sickened by the rise in antisemitism in our city. Hate crime is a criminal offence and has no place in London. I’ll continue to work with the police and community representatives to tackle antisemitism and support those affected by such abhorrent abuse." Those were the right words to say, but actually, little was done. Khan also has a long history of coddling jihadis, going back to the days when he acted as their defense attorney, and demonstrating a notable lack of sympathy for Israel as it defends itself from the jihadi onslaught.

On Oct. 13, 2023, just six days after Hamas jihadis murdered 1,200 Israelis, Khan said: "I’ve spoken to Londoners who lost family members in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
and Londoners who’ve lost family as a consequence of the Hamas terrorist attack last weekend, so we’re feeling the pain here." Political analyst Hugh Fitzgerald noted that "Khan refers first to the Paleostinians who died in Gaza (the family members ’lost’ by Londoners), and only after that, in a tortuous locution, he refers to ’Londoners who’ve lost family as a consequence of the Hamas terrorist attack last weekend.’ No. Say it straight, Sadiq: ’Londoners whose family members were murdered by Hamas.’" But he never did.

And so the Evening Standard reported in March 2024 that "growing numbers of Jewish families are considering leaving London — fleeing, really — in the face of this rising tide of hostility and hatred. Some have already departed. If you are shocked, you’ve not been paying attention. A report last month by the Community Security Trust found there were 4,103 incidents of anti-Jewish hate in the UK last year, a 147 percent rise on 2022. The peak occurred in the week after October 7, suggesting that for many it was a celebration of the Hamas massacre."

Eight months later, there are open threats in Sadiq Khan’s London to slaughter Jews. Will he act now?

Anti-Israel Protesters Disrupt Black Friday Shopping in Boston and Other Cities

[LegalInsurrection] “Protests commenced in several cities around the world on Black Friday as demonstrators gathered to show solidarity with the Palestinians during the start of the holiday shopping season.”

The radical left continues to win friends and influence people.

Anti-Israel protesters decided to make a further nuisance of themselves by using Black Friday to march and yell at people who are just trying to live their lives.

FOX News reports:

Anti-Israel protests pop up on Black Friday during International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

Protests commenced in several cities around the world on Black Friday as demonstrators gathered to show solidarity with the Palestinians during the start of the holiday shopping season.

In Boston, a large crowd of pro-Palestinian protesters were seen inside the Copley Place shopping center calling for an end to the war between Israel and Hamas terrorists. The Boston Police Department told Fox News Digital that no arrests were made and no damage to the mall was reported.

In New York City, protesters filled Manhattan’s streets on Fifth Avenue and Columbus Circle to mark the day.

“We are all Palestinians,” the crowd was heard chanting.

No arrests were made Friday, the New York Police Department said. A day earlier, pro-Palestinian protesters briefly disrupted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

In Chicago, demonstrators blocked traffic on Michigan Avenue as they called for the Biden administration to end aid to Israel.

Joe Biden got involved in his own, stupid way.

The Daily Wire reported:

Meanwhile, a vacationing President Biden was seen leaving Nantucket Bookworks clutching a copy of “The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017.”

The book’s author, Columbia University professor emeritus Rashid Khalidi, responded to the news by telling The New York Post, “I do not speak to the Post (or the Times for that matter), so this is not for publication, but my reaction is that this is 4 years too late.”

As The Post noted, the outlet “did not offer or agree to any terms conditioning that response as off the record or on background.”

Khalidi’s book posits that “the modern history of Palestine can best be understood in these terms: as a colonial war waged against the indigenous population, by a variety of parties, to force them to relinquish their homeland to another people against their will.”
Anybody got that Obama/Rashid Khalidi video?

#9  The Ottomans conquered the Christian Byzantines. The Byzantines, as classical pagan Romans, had conquered the Jews. The Allies conquered the Ottomans, and gave their Hashemite Arab allies kingdoms in Trans-Jordan and Iraq as a reward, but when the brand new Hashemite king of Trans-Jordan refused to ratify the Versailles Treaty because it gave France mandatory responsibilities over Syria (including Lebanon) that he had expected to get, Britain withdrew their support for continued Hashemite rule of Mecca; within half a year the House of Saud had conquered it, and was recognized as the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Iraqi grandson, Faisal II, was executed in a coup in 1958.

The League of Nations gave Britain mandatory authority over Cis-Jordan, a.k.a. the Ottoman province of Palestine, to be held in trust for the Jews until they were ready for self-rule as part of the same document establishing the Hashemite kingdom of Trans-Jordan. The mandate required that Britain prepare the Jews for self-rule exactly as the Arabs of Syria and Lebanon were to be prepared by France for self-rule, fulfilling the British promise to the Jews for a national homeland there as made in the Balfour Declaration. A commitment for parallel Arab independent self-rule was repeatedly rejected by the Arabs, and when the Jews declared their independence in 1948, Trans-Jordan conquered the West Bank region (Cis-Jordan) and Egypt conquered the Gaza Strip. Israel incidentally freed both territories from foreign rule in the process of driving out the invading Arab armies during the Six Day War in 1967. The subsequent hope to prepare the local Arabs for self-rule has been continually disappointed, as they far prefer plotting against and murdering Jews to actually doing the work necessary to function as a self-governing nation.

Iraqi airstrike kills five suspected ISIS militants in Kirkuk

They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) snuffies were killed in an Iraqi Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on the Hamrin Mountains in Kirkuk province, the army announced on Saturday.

"After the heroic Air Falcons carried out precise airstrikes using F-16 aircraft... a joint force at dawn on Saturday began searching the site of the airstrikes, finding the bodies of five terrorists," the army’s Joint Operations Command said in a statement.

"Weapons, ammunition, explosives, logistical materials, and communication devices" were also found at the site, the statement added.

The strike in territories disputed between the federal Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is the latest in an ongoing effort by Baghdad to rid the country of ISIS cells in areas where a security vacuum allows them to operate.

In its latest report on anti-ISIS operations, the Pentagon said that ISIS is a bigger threat in Syria than it is in Iraq.

In Iraq, "ISIS displayed limited capabilities, conducting the lowest number of attacks observed since the onset of the Sunni insurgency in Iraq in 2003. The group also showed no significant improvement in attack sophistication," said the report from October 29.

‘Make a deal, Bibi’: A year since Nov. 2023 truce, thousands rally for hostages
Bitter anti-Bibi speechifying stripped out, leaving only a few facts about selfish Antifa idiots choosing to dance to Hamas’s tune.

’s October 7, 2023, massacre and marking a year since the end of a week-long hostage-ceasefire deal last November — which negotiators have failed to replicate despite intensive efforts.

Some 2,000 people attended the main rally in Tel Aviv, where several people who were kidnapped by snuffies and freed in the November deal addressed the rally, along with some relatives of hostages still held in Gaza.

Thomas Hand, whose 9-year-old daughter Emily was kidnapped from Kibbutz Be’eri and released after 50 days in captivity, said his daughter had told him the water she was given in captivity was putrid; that the hostages were forced to use the bathroom with the door open while a male terrorist watched them; and that "they were told to repeat words in Arabic, and at the end, they were told: ’You’re Moslem now.'"

"Make a deal, Bibi," he said, using Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s nickname. "You have had more than enough time to get the job done."

Earlier on Saturday, Channel 12 published a poll showing overwhelming public support (71 percent) for a hostage deal that ends the war in Gaza, compared to 15% who oppose such terms and 14% who don’t know.

And even among supporters of Netanyahu’s conservative bloc, 56% said they would back a deal that stops the war in return for the hostages, 24% oppose it and 20% don’t know.

Hours before the Saturday evening protests, Hamas published a propaganda video of American-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander.

A block away, hundreds of anti-government activists protested in front of the Begin Street entrance to the IDF Headquarters.

At the entrance to the rally, a group urging "nonviolent mostly peaceful civilian rebellion" held an informational session about disobedience tactics and advice on what to do in case of arrest.

One seasoned activist, surrounded by around two dozen neophytes, advised against relying on their right to remain silent if detained: "If you use your right to remain silent, your condition in court ends up being worse," he said.

Other protests and rallies were held in cities across the country, with the notable exception of Caesarea, near the private home of Netanyahu, where some of the most intense protests have been held over the past 14 months. Organizers halted the Caesarea protests last week after it became clear that Netanyahu no longer spends time in the coastal city.

IDF says it killed Oct. 7 terrorist employed by aid group; 4 others said killed as well
[IsraelTimes] Ahed Qadih, who worked for World Central Kitchen, participated in Nir Oz massacre; army doesn’t comment on two other aid workers said to be among the dead

The Israel Defense Forces said on Saturday it had killed a terrorist in Gaza who participated in the October 7 onslaught and who was employed by the World Central Kitchen aid organization.

Palestinian media reported that the drone strike in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis killed five people, including three local aid workers with WCK.

The army did not remark on the other people allegedly killed, but noted that the targeted vehicle was unmarked and its movement was not coordinated for transporting aid.
"Poor choice of company"
According to the IDF, the terrorist, Ahed Qadih, participated in the massacre in Kibbutz Nir Oz, which saw 46 people killed and 71 taken hostage.

“The terrorist was under intelligence surveillance for a long period, and was struck following reliable information about his location in real-time,” the IDF said, adding that “according to current information, it is not possible to link the terrorist to a specific abduction attempt” from the October 7 massacre.

Following the strike, representatives of the Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) “demanded of senior officials from the international community and the WCK administration to clarify the issue and order an urgent examination regarding the hiring of workers who took part in the October 7 massacre and terrorist attacks against the State of Israel.”

“COGAT is again calling on the international organizations that operate in the Gaza Strip to provide Israeli authorities with details of local employees that are hired by them in the Gaza Strip, to ensure that terrorists are not making use of the humanitarian arena,” the IDF added.

In April, seven WCK aid workers, six of whom were foreigners, were killed in an Israeli strike that led Israel to apologize and fire two officers involved in the incident, saying the strike on the vehicle had been a grave error.

While Qadih marks the first known incident of a terrorist working for WCK, Israel has charged that at least 10 percent of workers for UNRWA, the largest aid organization in Gaza, have ties to terror groups. The organization denies this charge but has confirmed about a dozen cases where it found its employees belonged to Hamas.

Meanwhile in southern Gaza’s Rafah, an IDF drone strike killed a member of a Hamas cell that had set up booby traps, a video published on Saturday by the military showed. The military said the cell had rigged barrels packed with explosives and other explosive devices in the area. The members of the cell were all eliminated, according to the IDF.

The drone strike was directed by troops of the Nahal Brigade, which has been operating in Rafah under the Gaza Division in recent months. Amid their operations, the IDF said the troops found weapons and military equipment during searches near a hospital and mosque in Rafah.

Also Saturday, a siren sounded in the Gaza border town of Kissufim, but the military later said the siren was a false alarm.

REOPENING RAFAH, MEDICATION FOR HOSTAGES
As mediators relaunch efforts to reach a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza in the wake of the Lebanon truce, a Hamas delegation was in Cairo for talks Saturday, and an Egyptian team was reported to visit Israel in recent days, though there was no official confirmation for the latter trip.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the talks included negotiations on reopening the Rafah Border Crossing between Gaza and Egypt, which Egypt shuttered once Israel took control of the border region. Arab negotiators told the Journal that an agreement could lead to the crossing’s reopening by early December.

The report added that under the proposed deal, administrative control of the terminal would be given to the Palestinian Authority, and Israel would be given access to information on those crossing.

The Hezbollah-aligned Al-Akhbar outlet reported Saturday that Israeli and Egyptian officials have also discussed the possibility of the transfer of medications to hostages
held in Gaza. Unnamed sources told the outlet that topics discussed during the Egyptian delegation’s visit to Tel Aviv included “the possibility of bringing in medicine for Israeli prisoners [sic], similar to a previous agreement.”

There was no other confirmation of the report.

The Cairo officials are thought to have presented Israel with a “comprehensive vision” for Gaza. The Al-Akhbar report said talks were also held on the transfer of medications into the Strip for wounded Palestinians.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has not been able to visit any of the hostages held by terrorists in Gaza, despite urgent appeals from their loved ones and diplomatic officials for them to do so.

World Central Kitchen pauses operations in Gaza after IDF kills Oct. 7 terrorist employed by aid group
[IsraelTimes] US charity World Central Kitchen says it is “pausing operations in Gaza at this time” after an Israeli air strike on a terrorist who participated in the October 7 onslaught was found to have been employed by the aid organization.

According to WCK, several people were traveling in the targeted vehicle at the time of the strike.

It says in a statement that it “had no knowledge that any individual in the vehicle had alleged ties to the October 7 Hamas attack,” and does not confirm any deaths.

Save the Children says staff member killed in Israeli strike in Gaza
[IsraelTimes] International aid agency Save the Children says a staff member was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza’s Khan Younis earlier today, the second staffer killed in the enclave since the war began in October 2023.

There is no immediate comment from the IDF.

IDF says soldier killed in fighting in northern Gaza on Friday
[IsraelTimes] An IDF soldier was killed in fighting in the northern Gaza Strip on Friday, the military announced Saturday, bringing the IDF’s death toll in the ground operation in and around the enclave to 382. The slain soldier was named as Staff Sgt. Zamir Burke, 20, a heavy equipment squad commander in the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion, from Beit Shemesh. Another soldier was seriously wounded in the same incident, the IDF said.

Separately in southern Gaza, the military said a soldier with the 401st Armored Brigade’s 46th Battalion was seriously wounded in fighting.

In a separate incident on Saturday, medics and Gaza emergency services said dozens of people were killed or wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a multi-story house in northern Gaza’s Tal Al-Zaatar. The IDF said it was not aware of any attack in the area but was looking into the report. The emergency services added that many casualties were believed to be trapped under the rubble.

IDF says it struck rocket launch site inside designated safe zone in central Gaza
[IsraelTimes] A rocket launching site within the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in the Gaza Strip was struck by the Israeli Air Force earlier today, the military says.

According to the IDF, the site in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah had armed launchers, primed for an attack on southern Israel.

A video released by the IDF shows a rocket flying out of the site following the drone strike.

To mitigate civilian harm, the IDF says it used precision munition, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.

“The terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip systematically violate international law, cynically exploiting the humanitarian zone and the population as a human shield for terror activity,” the military says in a statement.

According to the IDF, the drone was heading toward Israel and had been launched from “the east,” usually code for attacks from Iraq.

No sirens were activated according to protocol, the military adds.

Overnight, another suspected drone heading toward Israel from Iraq was shot down by the Israeli Air Force.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Armed Terrorists Attack Iranian Consulate In Syria, Tehran Says
[ZH] Delicious karma
On Saturday as the new jihadist assault on Aleppo was unfolding, the Iranian government announced that "some terrorist elements" attacked the Iranian consulate located in the large northern Syrian city.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei in a statement said his country "strongly condemned the attack" by "some armed terrorist elements" on the consulate of the Islamic Republic, and noted that all its staff members are safe.

While few other details were given, Baghaei stressed further that Tehran plans to provide a "serious" response to the attack, "both legally and internationally."

Iran has also branded the new offensive launched out of Al-Qaeda held Idlib as "an American-Zionist" plot. The past ten decades of proxy war in Syria did see Israel team up with the Sunni anti-Assad insurgency, which also had the support of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the US, Turkey, and some European countries.

This appears to be happening again, crucially at a moment Hezbollah is distracted and bogged down in the war with Israel.

Broadly, the Syrian proxy war pit the Shia axis against hardline Sunnis supported by extremists Gulf clerics, who had Western guns. While part of the self-styled 'resistance' axis which includes Hezbollah, Damascus represents one of the last secular and nationalist states in the Middle East (under the Ba'ath party).

The radical group Hayat Tahrir-al-Sham or HTS (an offshoot of Al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra) has launched a rapid surprise assault which has resulted in its militants reaching the center of Aleppo city.

Moscow has meanwhile blasted the "attack on Syria’s sovereignty in the region" and urged the Assad government to restore "order there as soon as possible." Russian aircraft have reportedly been helping the Syrian Army do just that. But the insurgents now control key neighborhoods of Aleppo

But what's become clear to many is that the Syrian Army was caught on its backfoot in Aleppo, following years of grueling war and devastating Western sanctions, which has caused a drain on both manpower and resources, also amid runaway inflation.

The HTS jihadists are now threatening other parts of Syria, and may be eyeing the central Syrian city of Hama next. The war appears to have returned to northern and central Syria with a vengeance.

The eastern part of Aleppo was captured by the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces), mostly Kurdish, who took the opportunity when it presented itself.

After driving out Assad, we should just watch all these guys fight each other (which they will) and not get involved.

The Russians want to keep their Naval Base at Latakia, so they'll probably get really involved if the conflict approaches that area. I believe they're already doing a cursory bombing of Aleppo.

Jews Starting War In Syria. Honest.
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

There are those who agree. Scott Ritter, for instance, courtesy of 3dc. Say what you will about the man (and I have), he’s not afraid to put his ideas out there:

… backed by the US, to cut off the supply route from Iran to Lebanon for Hezbollah, and threaten to destabilize/topple the Assad government, forcing Russia to divert resources from Ukraine to salvage their position in Syria. Ukraine has provided advisors to the anti-Assad militants on drone warfare. Israel has apparently extended its explosive pager/radio scheme into Syria as well, disrupting Syrian tactical command and control at a critical moment in the fighting.

Syria had largely demobilized, and Hezbollah had mostly returned to Lebanon. Iranian-backed Iraqi militias are ill prepared to contain this assault.

It is highly likely Aleppo will fall to the pro-Turkish Islamist forces. There will most likely be a concerted effort, led by Russia and Iran, to salvage the situation in Syria.

This will take time.
This offensive may threaten the ceasefire in Lebanon.
The biggest loser in all of this is Turkey and its President, Recep Erdogan.

This offensive could not have been carried out without close cooperation and coordination with Israel and the US.

Erdogan’s critical words against Israel have been exposed as empty rhetoric.

Erdogan has once again betrayed Russia.
And his support for Palestine has beed exposed as fraudulent in every way.

Russia and Iran will stabilize Syria.
This will take months.

Syria and its allies will destroy the Islamist stronghold in Idlib.
This will take years.

The Iran-Hezbollah supply line will be restored/maintained.
Israel will be defeated.
And the US will withdraw from Syria, probably in mid-2025.
And Turkey will continue to betray everyone it does business with, because Erdogan stands only for Turkey.

After entering Aleppo, Syrian insurgents advance to nearby province
[APNEWS] Thousands of Syrian gunnies took over most of Aleppo on Saturday, establishing positions in the country's largest city and controlling its airport before expanding their shock offensive to a nearby province. They faced little to no resistance from government troops, according to fighters and activists.

A war monitor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the gunnies led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
seized control of Aleppo International airport, the first international airport to be controlled by bully boys. The fighters claimed they seized the airport and posted pictures from there.

Thousands of fighters also moved on, facing almost no opposition from government forces, to seize towns and villages in northern Hama, a province where they had a presence before being expelled by government troops in 2016. They claimed Saturday evening to have entered the city of Hama.

The swift and surprise offensive is a huge embarrassment for Syria's President Bashir al-Assad and raises questions about his armed forces' preparedness. The bully boy offensive launched from their stronghold in the country's northwest appeared to have been planned for years. It also comes at a time when Assad's allies were preoccupied with their own conflicts.

In his first public comments since the start of the offensive, released by the state news agency Saturday evening, Assad said Syria will continue to ''defend its stability and territorial integrity against Lions of Islam and their supporters.'' He added that Syria is able to defeat them no matter how much their attacks intensify.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, a main backer of Syrian opposition groups, said its diplomatic efforts had failed to stop government attacks on opposition-held areas in recent weeks, which were in violation of a de-escalation agreement sponsored by Russia, Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Ankara. Ottoman Turkish security officials said a limited offensive by the rebels was planned to stop government attacks and allow civilians to return, but the offensive expanded as Syrian government forces began to retreat from their positions.

The bully boys, led by the Salafi jihadi group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and including Turkey-backed fighters, launched their shock offensive on Wednesday. They first staged a two-pronged attack in Aleppo and the Idlib countryside, entering Aleppo two days later and securing a strategic town that lies on the highway that links Syria's largest city to the capital and the coast.

By Saturday evening, they seized at least four towns in the central Hama province and claimed to have entered the scenic provincial capital. The gunnies staged an attempt to reclaim areas they controlled in Hama in 2017 but failed.

PREPARING A COUNTERATTACK
Syria's armed forces said in a statement Saturday that to absorb the large attack on Aleppo and save lives, it redeployed troops and equipment and was preparing a counterattack. The statement acknowledged that gunnies entered large parts of the city but said they have not established bases or checkpoints. Later on Saturday, the armed forces sought to dispel what it said were lies in reference to reports about its forces retreating or defecting, saying the general command was carrying out its duties in ''combatting terrorist organizations.''

The return of the gunnies to Aleppo was their first since 2016, following a grueling military campaign in which Assad's forces were backed by Russia, Iran and its allied groups.

The 2016 battle for Aleppo was a turning point in the war between Syrian government forces and rebel fighters after 2011 protests against Assad's rule turned into an all-out war. After appearing to be losing control of the country to the rebels, the Aleppo battle secured Assad's hold on strategic areas of Syria, with opposition factions and their foreign backers controlling areas on the periphery.

The Times of Israel adds:
Ahmed Hussein al-Shar’a, known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammad al-Julani (or Golani, indicating he was born in the Golan Heights), is wanted by the United States as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, with a $10 million bounty on his head.

The Times of Israel adds:
After the army said it was preparing a counterattack, airstrikes targeted rebel gatherings and convoys in the city, the pro-Damascus newspaper al-Watan reported. One strike caused casualties in Aleppo’s Basel Square, a resident told Reuters.

The state-run Russian Centre for the Reconciliation of the Enemy Parties in Syria said missile and bomb strikes against the rebels had targeted “militant concentrations, command posts, depots, and artillery positions” in Aleppo and Idlib provinces. It claimed about 300 rebel fighters had been killed in the attacks.

Overnight, images from Aleppo showed a group of rebel fighters gathered in the city’s Saadallah al-Jabiri Square, with a billboard of Assad looming behind them.

Images filmed on Saturday showed people posing for photos on a toppled statue of Bassil Assad, late brother of the president. Fighters zipped around the city in trucks and milled around in the streets. A man waved a Syrian opposition flag as he stood near Aleppo’s historic citadel.

The Syrian military command said militants had attacked in large numbers and from multiple directions, prompting “our armed forces to carry out a redeployment operation aimed at strengthening the defense lines in order to absorb the attack, preserve the lives of civilians and soldiers.”

The rebels also took control of Aleppo airport, according to a statement by their operations room and a security source.

Two rebel sources also said the insurgents had captured the city of Maraat al Numan in Idlib province, bringing all of that area under their control.

Iran says ‘terrorist elements’ attacked its Aleppo consulate during Syrian rebel offensive
[IsraelTimes] Iran says that “terrorist elements” have attacked its consulate in the Syrian city of Aleppo during a rebel offensive in the area.

In a statement, Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesman of the Iranian foreign ministry, “strongly condemned the attack” by “some armed terrorist elements” on the Iranian consulate, adding that all its staff members were safe.

#3  Hama Rules? From Wikipedia:

1982 Hama massacre

The Hama massacre occurred in February 1982 when the Syrian Arab Army and the Defense Companies paramilitary force, under orders of president Hafez al-Assad, besieged the town of Hama for 27 days in order to quell an uprising by the Muslim Brotherhood against the Ba'athist government. The campaign that had begun in 1976 by Sunni Muslim groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood, was brutally crushed in an anti-Sunni massacre at Hama, carried out by the Syrian Arab Army and Alawite militias under commanding General Rifaat al-Assad. Prior to the start of operations, Hafez al-Assad issued orders to seal off Hama from the outside world; effectively imposing a media blackout, total shut down of communications, electricity and food supplies to the city for months. Initial diplomatic reports from Western countries stated that 1,000 were killed. Subsequent estimates vary, with the lower estimates reporting at least 10,000 deaths, while others put the number at 20,000 or 40,000.

Final score: ~25,000[4]-40,000 civilians killed[a]
~15,000-17,000 civilians disappeared[5][7]
~100,000 civilians deported

And nearly 2/3rds of the city was smashed to rubble. Robert Fisk was there, and it made his reputation.

IDF says jets hit Syrian military site being used by Hezbollah to smuggle arms
[IsraelTimes] Army says Hezbollah continues to try bring weapons into Lebanon via civilian border crossings, vows to punish any truce violations; drone said to fire at car heading toward troops

Israeli Air Force fighter jets struck Syrian military infrastructure near border crossings between Syria and Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
on Saturday, which the IDF says were being "actively" used by Hezbollah to transfer weapons, testing the fragile, days-old ceasefire.

"This strike was carried out following the identification of the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah from Syria to Lebanon, even after the ceasefire agreement, and constitutes a threat to the State of Israel, in violation of the terms of the ceasefire agreement," the military said in a statement.

Syria’s Sham FM radio reported that the strikes targeted the al-Qusayr area. No further details were given and the IDF did not specify what kind of military installation was hit.

There was no immediate comment from Syrian authorities or activists monitoring the conflict in that country. Hezbollah also did not immediately comment.

The IDF also accused Hezbollah, with the support of the Syrian regime, of using civilian border crossings to continue trying to bring weapons into Lebanon. Israel has vowed to prevent all weapon transfers to Hezbollah amid the ceasefire.

"The IDF will continue to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel that violates the terms of the ceasefire agreement," the military added.

The Israeli strike inside Syria came as unrest spread across that country, with Syrian gunnies breaching the country’s largest city, Aleppo, in a shock offensive that added fresh uncertainty to a region reeling from multiple wars.

The repeated bursts of violence — with no reports of serious casualties — reflected the uneasy nature of the ceasefire that otherwise appeared to hold. While Israel has accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire, Lebanon has also accused Israel of the same in the days since it took effect.

Also Saturday, the IDF said it located a cache of weapons belonging to Hezbollah hidden inside a mosque during scans in southern Lebanon in the past day.

Troops also worked to disperse suspects who approached a no-go zone in southern Lebanon, the IDF said without giving details.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that an Israeli drone attacked a car in the southern village of Majdal Zoun. Majdal Zoun, near the Mediterranean Sea, is close to where Israeli troops still have a presence.

Lebanon’s health ministry said the strike maimed three people, including a child.

Lebanese media also reported an Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on the outskirts of the southern Lebanon village of Baisariyeh, south of Sidon.

There was no immediate comment from the IDF.

Many Lebanese, some of the 1.2 million displaced in the conflict, were streaming south to their homes, despite warnings by the Israeli and Lebanese militaries to stay away from certain areas.

The truce between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah, brokered by the United States and La Belle France, calls for an initial two-month ceasefire in which the terror group is to withdraw north of Lebanon’s Litani River and Israeli forces are to return to their side of the border.

The US military’s CENTCOM announced late Friday that Major General Jasper Jeffers, Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), would oversee the implementation and monitoring mechanism of the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire, alongside his co-chair, US Mideast envoy Amos Hochstein, who will fill the role until a permanent civilian US official is named.

Jeffers arrived in Beirut in recent days to oversee the implementation, the announcement said, adding that the oversight mechanism will be led by the US and include the Lebanese and Israeli militaries, UN observers and La Belle France.

Israel says it reserves the right under the ceasefire to strike against any perceived violations.

As truce takes effect, displaced Lebanese come home to find piles of rubble

[IsraelTimes] World Bank estimates $3.2 billion in damages as some 100,000 housing units damaged in Israel’s offensive; ‘All the memories are gone’
Next time, guys, don’t take payment from Hezbollah to let them store munitions in your attic or spare bedroom, and Israel — which knows all — won’t feel a need to grow secondaries.
Nearly 1.2 million Lebanese have been displaced over the past two months as Israel stepped up its bombing campaign in a bid to stem Hezbollah’s persistent, year-long rocket fire, which has prevented some 60,000 residents of northern Israel from returning home.

The Israeli strikes leveled entire buildings in eastern and southern Lebanon, and in the southern suburbs of Beirut, which are predominantly Shiite areas where the Iran-backed terror group enjoys solid support.

Israel said it targeted buildings used by Hezbollah. In southern Lebanon many of the homes were used to store weapons or linked to a tunnel network.

Who will pay for the reconstruction is unclear. Iran has offered to help, but it’s under Western sanctions and its economy has suffered. Kourani said Hezbollah members have told her those who lost a house during the war will be given a place to stay until their homes are rebuilt.

#2  In the same way that hydrogen is the fundamental building block of the Universe, rubble is the fundamental building block of the Middle East. Like the book says, "Rubble you are and to rubble you shall return." Mind the airstrikes!
