[Regnum] During his visit to Afghanistan, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu indicated Russia's readiness to exclude the Taliban movement (the organization is under UN sanctions for terrorist activity) from the "black list" of terrorists. This was reported on November 25 by the Alemarah portal, close to the Afghan authorities.
“Shoigu announced Russia’s intention to intensify bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan, pointing to plans to remove the Islamic state from Russia’s “black list” in order to strengthen political and economic ties in the near future,” the report states following the meeting of the Russian delegation with Afghan officials.
It is noted that Russia has expressed readiness for economic cooperation with the state in a number of areas. Russian investors and state enterprises are interested in such sectors as mining, transport and agriculture.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on October 4, member of the board of the Russian Foreign Ministry and former Russian ambassador to Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov stated that the decision to exclude the Taliban movement from the list of terrorist organizations was made at the highest level, but legal procedures must be followed.
On the same day, FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov noted that Russia was completing the study of the issue of excluding the movement from the list of terrorist organizations. The Russian side considers it expedient, on the one hand, to establish contacts with the Taliban, and on the other, to identify potential supporters of terrorists in the CIS countries, Bortnikov added.
On May 27, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice reported to the country's president, Vladimir Putin, that the Taliban movement could be excluded from the list of terrorist organizations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called the idea of excluding the Taliban from the list of banned organizations an objective reality. According to him, the Taliban is the real power in Afghanistan, and Russia is not indifferent to Afghanistan.

Both Mandelson (whose father was Jewish) and Hague are strong opponents of antisemitism and supporters of Israel.
Speaking to Channel 4 News last week, Hague said that students at university should “debate the great issues of the time” and “listen to points of view that make you uncomfortable.” When questioned, however, he said that the use of the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine should be free” in a speech was not a legitimate expression and was antisemitic. “You have to allow, wherever you can, freedom of speech and expression,” Hague, now a member of the House of Lords, said. “Sometimes you have to be generous with those limits, but not practicing or advocating violence.”
The political temperature on British campuses concerning Israel is already high. This week’s Oxford Union debate on the Jewish state seems designed to spark the kind of furor in which, history suggests, the exclusive debating club revels.

The men "held important positions within the association with direct ties to leaders of the military wing" of Hamas, prosecutors said.
One of the two suspects born in Lebanon, named by prosecutors only as Ibrahim El-R., was said to have set up a weapons storage site for Hamas in Bulgaria.

Established in early 2019, the Bulgarian depot contained weapons, including a Kalashnikov assault rifle, and ammunition, prosecutors said.

Between June and December 2023, all four suspects were said to have set off from Berlin in search of another Hamas weapons store in Poland, but failed to locate it, according to Sherlocks.
Prosecutors said Hamas had long ago "set up underground weapons depots in various European countries in order to keep them ready for possible attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe."
The storage sites were maintained by foreign operatives in possession or European residence permits, ready to be "deployed at short notice," prosecutors said.
Hamas had identified the "Israeli embassy in Berlin, the US Air Base in Ramstein or the area around Tempelhof Airport in Berlin as possible targets," they said.
The four suspects were arrested in December last year. Dutch national Nazih R. was detained in Rotterdam by local police, while the other three were arrested in Berlin.
Germany issued a ban on Hamas activities and organizations linked to the group in the wake of the terror group’s assault on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which some 1,200 people were killed and another 251 taken hostage.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will be forced to open its books and reveal its sources of funding after a defamation suit it filed against a former employee completely backfired.
US Magistrate Judge David Schultz ruled Monday that CAIR’s donors, funding sources — including potentially foreign ones — and any assets owned by the group are all within the "scope of permissible discovery" as part of former chapter leader Lori Saroya’s lawsuit against the controversial Muslim rights group.
Saroya filed a federal defamation complaint against CAIR in January after the group dropped its own lawsuit against the former employee, which accused her of embarking on a "defamation campaign" against the organization, including by implying that CAIR is funded by foreign governments and terrorist organizations.
CAIR alleged that Saroya’s statements — posted on social media, in comment sections and emailed to the group’s supporters — damaged the organization’s ability to fundraise and build partnerships, but it ultimately dropped the lawsuit in January of 2022 over fears that Saroya’s legal team would "demand the names of CAIR supporters who have donated to us."
Jeffrey Robbins, Saroya’s lawyer, described Monday’s ruling as "the mother of all legal boomerangs."
"It’s a very important ruling," Robbins said of the Minnesota district court judge’s order, in an interview with The Post, noting that the ruling is "very methodical, very careful, very detailed and very analytical."
Robbins explained that the order will force CAIR to "turn over evidence about everything from fundraising practices, such as having raised money from foreign sources and concealed it; whether it deceived donors; whether it mismanaged donor money; whether it retaliated against employees or threatened to retaliate against employees for raising concerns about sexual harassment or the like."
The judge noted that "the thrust of CAIR’s allegations against Saroya in the 2021 complaint is that Saroya falsely implied CAIR received funding from foreign governments and terrorists when she stated CAIR accepted ’international funding through their Washington Trust Foundation.'"
Schultz stated that "CAIR points to no public admission that it received funding from terrorists or that it received funding through the Washington Trust Foundation" but "discovery into these matters is proportionate to the needs of the case."
"CAIR has not shown that the burden or expense of the proposed discovery outweighs its likely benefit, or that it unwarrantedly taxes its resources," he ruled.

Smotrich approves tens of millions of shekels for fence he had prevented under Gallant
Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Tuesday that he has won a years-long battle to get authority to build a new hi-tech border fence with Jordan to block smuggling, especially from Iran.
An announcement said that the fence, which will include a variety of cutting-edge sensors and cost tens of millions of shekels, would be constructed in "a number of months" but did not set a formal end date.
It was unclear at press time how Katz had overcome the opposition of Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich, who has prevented the idea from going forward in recent years.
Former IDF central commander Maj. Gen. (ret.) Yehuda Fuchs had pushed for the fence for a long time, even sending a formal letter of warning to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi about the dangers of failing to build a fence, before retiring.
However, simply the fact that Katz has entered into office and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may have wanted him to get a quick win to move the narrative on from Katz’s recently fired and highly-respected predecessor, Yoav Gallant, could have been a factor.

Austin "reiterated U.S. commitment to a diplomatic resolution in Lebanon that allows Israeli and Lebanese civilians to return safely to their homes on both sides of the border" in his call with Israel Katz, a Pentagon spokesperson said.
A front man for Katz said the defense minister underscored that Israel would "continue to act decisively in response to Hezbollah's attacks on civilian populations in Israel."
During the call, "Katz commended U.S. efforts to facilitate de-escalation in Lebanon and emphasized Israel's commitment to restoring security that would enable northern residents to return to their homes safely," his front man said.
U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein was in Lebanon and Israel this week, meeting with both countries' bigwigs, to try to negotiate an end to the war.
In the call Austin also "urged the Government of Israel to continue to take steps to improve the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza and emphasized the U.S. commitment to securing the release of all hostages, including U.S. citizens."
[IsraelTimes] Channel 12 sets out what it says are the core elements of the US-brokered Israel-Lebanon deal aimed at halting the war against Hezbollah on the northern front. It says only very minor details of the deal remain to be finalized.
It says the deal provides for:
A mutual ceasefire;
The IDF can stay in Lebanon for up to 60 days;
The IDF to leave as the Lebanese Army deploys;
No Israeli-held border buffer zone in southern Lebanon, and residents of south Lebanon can go home;
The Lebanese government to oversee all arms purchases and arms production in Lebanon;
The US to head the international body overseeing the deal’s implementation; France will also sit on that panel.
The TV report adds that a US side letter will state clearly that Israel has the right to act whenever it sees an immediate threat from Lebanon. The report adds that the US has indicated in recent days that if Israel sees a need to act against threats that can tackled on Syrian territory, rather than on Lebanese territory, that would be preferable.
It also says US envoy Amos Hochstein made clear to Israel that there would be no deal if France were not a member of the international oversight body.
Nothing says “Trust us, we’ve got your back,” like forcing your ally to sign the thing at the point of a gun before President Trump is sworn into office in January.
Channel 12 says there was near-unanimous support for the deal from the politicians and defense establishment participants in last night’s PM-led security consultation. It says unspecified strategic implications were highlighted, as were considerations regarding Donald Trump’s imminent return to the US presidency, and considerations relating to arms supplies.
At that meeting, it says, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the deal would leave Hamas isolated and raise the chances of a hostage deal.

The “supreme leader” of the Iranian terror state, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, demanded the International Criminal Court (ICC) command the execution of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in remarks on Monday.
Khamenei was responding to the ICC issuing an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and Israeli former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant last week, responding to a request from prosecutor Karim Khan made in May. The court announced charges against the Israeli leaders for allegedly committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during Israel’s ongoing self-defense operations in Gaza against the Iran-backed genocidal terrorist organization Hamas. The ICC also issued a warrant for the head of the Hamas “military” wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed Deif.
Khan had initially requested warrants for Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, as well, but both were confirmed dead before the ICC decided on their cases. The Israeli government confirmed Deif’s death in August, but the ICC prosecutor’s office told the judges they could not confirm the claim, so the judges issued the warrant.
Israel declared war on Hamas on October 8, 2023, after the jihadists invaded the country and conducted an unprecedented slaughter of civilians, including entire families killed in their homes, that left an estimated 1,200 dead. Hamas terrorists also abducted over 200 people and extensively tortured, raped, and abused random people within Israeli territory. Iran celebrated the massacre by organizing street parties and fireworks displays in response to the news of the mass killing by its proxy.
The ICC claims that Israeli operations in Gaza to prevent a repeat of October 7 constitute war crimes and potential genocide. The Israeli government vehemently rejected the accusations, calling issuing the warrants an “antisemitic” action.
Khamenei, speaking at an event on Monday, also appeared disappointed in the warrants – because they would not result in Netanyahu’s death.
“The (ICC) arrest warrant is not enough, Netanyahu’s death sentence must be ordered,” Khamenei declared, according to the Iranian state propaganda outlet PressTV.
The dissident outlet Iran International explained that this demand is not compatible with the objectives and powers of the ICC.
“Khamenei’s demand comes as international legal bodies, including the ICC, stand firmly opposed to capital punishment,” it noted. “Khamenei’s demand comes as international legal bodies, including the ICC, stand firmly opposed to capital punishment.”
The ICC was created through the Rome Statute, an international legal document, and thus has no enforcement authority in countries that are not signatories to the statute. It does not have its own enforcement mechanism and cannot legally kill people. Even countries that have signed onto the Rome Statute may not necessarily follow ICC directives. Argentina, for example, announced last week that it would not enforce any warrant against Israeli officials.
“Israel faces a brutal aggression, an inhuman seizure of hostages, and the indiscriminate launch of attacks against its population,” Argentine President Javier Milei said in a statement. “Criminalizing the legitimate defense of a nation while these atrocities are omitted is an act that distorts the spirit of international justice.”
In contrast, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, an ardent leftist, told reporters shortly after the ICC issued the warrant that he would enforce it if Netanyahu visited his country.
“We will abide by all the regulations and rulings of the international courts. This is just who we are as Canadians,” he said.
The Iranian Tasnim news agency quoted Khamenei as declaring that “The stupid Zionists imagine that by bombarding people’s homes, hospitals, and places where people are gathered, they’re the victors. No, no one in the world considers that to be a victory.” Opponents to the existence of Israel often claim that the IDF is indiscriminately attacking Gaza, omitting that Hamas has installed terrorist infrastructure pervasively in civilian areas, using sites such as hospitals and children’s bedrooms to hide tunnels, weapons, and terrorists.
