Darfur tribal leader warns of imminent RSF attacks
[SUDANTRIBUNE] A prominent tribal leader warned on Monday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) is planning to attack three localities in North Darfur, raising fears of a further escalation of the conflict in Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
Saleh Abdallah, head of the Zaghawa tribal council, said the RSF was planning to ''invade'' the al-Tina, Umbaru, and Karnoi localities from a base in neighbouring West Darfur. These areas are currently partly held by the Sudanese army and allied forces.

''They are planning to invade our areas,'' Abdallah said in an audio statement sent to Sudan Tribune. He said fighters were mobilizing to defend the localities, which border Chad.

The RSF has held most of North Darfur since the conflict erupted in April 2024. Since May 2024, it has been battling the army to control El Fasher, the state capital.

Abdallah said the RSF and allied militias had burned some 120 villages in the area over the past three weeks as part of a ''retaliatory campaign'' against the Zaghawa people.

The violence has driven many residents to flee to Chad, he added.

Since mid-October, the RSF and allied militias have been accused of carrying out Dire Revenge attacks against Zaghawa communities in Kutum locality, North Darfur, burning more than 45 villages.

Local clashes in West Kordofan trigger curfew
[SUDANTRIBUNE] A curfew was imposed in En Nuhud, West Kordofan, on Monday after festivities between police and army-allied paramilitaries killed at least three people, including a police officer.

The violence erupted like lava from a volcano when members of the Reserve Forces, a tribal militia, tried to commandeer a customs police vehicle, according to the militia's commander.

Reserve Forces commander Hamad al-Safi Hamad said they were acting on orders from a state security committee to use all government vehicles for the war effort against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

But police intervened, demanding the vehicle's return. This led to a shootout at the Reserve Forces headquarters that killed two militia leaders and a police officer, Hamad said in a voice recording.

The Reserve Forces are mainly drawn from the Hamar tribe and have been fighting alongside the army against the RSF in West Kordofan.

Hamad accused members of the security forces of trying to ''spread chaos'' in En Nuhud, which has become the state's temporary capital since the army lost control of Babanusa.

The RSF controls most of West Kordofan, but En Nuhud and the army's main headquarters in Babanusa remain under army control.

Chad threatens to exit regional security force after deadly attack
[AFRICANEWS] Chad's President Mahamat Idriss Deby has issued a stark warning that his country may withdraw from a regional security coalition, citing frustrations over its effectiveness in countering krazed killer threats in the Lake Chad region.

Deby's remarks came during a visit to the area on Sunday, where he expressed concerns about the Multinational Joint Task Force's (MNJTF) impact in tackling gangs.

The announcement followed an attack in late October that claimed the lives of around 40 Chadian soldiers. The incident, reportedly carried out by suspected Boko Haram

bad boys, highlights the ongoing security challenges facing the region.

, each contributing troops to the MNJTF, which was formed to counter krazed killer activity across these national borders.

Deby emphasized his disappointment in the level of coordination within the force, pointing to "a lack of joint efforts against the common enemy." He argued that the force, intended to streamline operations and intelligence-sharing, has instead "seemed to be in a slump."

The potential withdrawal of Chad a nation recognized for its well-trained and resilient military would be a considerable setback for the MNJTF, which has struggled to unify its approach amid various challenges.

The Lake Chad region has remained a flashpoint for bad boy attacks, with krazed killer activity spilling over from Boko Haram's origins in northeastern Nigeria since 2009.

At this time, the governments of Nigeria, Niger, and Cameroon have not commented on Deby's statement.

Swedish court sentences far-right politician for insulting Muslims
[IsraelTimes] A Swedish court sentences a far-right politician to four months in jail for two counts of “incitement against an ethnic group” after making hateful comments at political rallies two years ago.

The Danish-Swedish 42-year-old man, who was not named but has been identified by Swedish media as Rasmus Paludan, founder and head of the Danish nationalist anti-immigration party Stram Kurs, had been previously convicted and sentenced by a Danish court on a similar charge, the Malmo District Court says.

In 2022, Paludan made his offensive remarks directed at Muslims, Arabs and Africans during protests that he led in the southern city of Malmo in 2022, the court said. He also burned a copy of the Quran, Islam’s holy book, on at least one occasion. In response, a violent wave of riots swept the country.

Kenyan Jihadi is convicted of plotting a 9/11-style terror attack in America on behalf of al-Shabab
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Kenyan member of terrorist group al-Shabab has been convicted of plotting to fly an airliner into a United States' skyscraper after training as a pilot in the Philippines.

Cholo Abdi Abdullah, 34, was found guilty on all six accounts he faced for the 9/11 style attack by a federal jury in Manhattan on Monday, court records show.

He's faces a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison when he is sentenced in March.

Abdullah was arrested in 2019 in the Philippines with an improvised explosive device, a hand grenade and a gun, CNN reported at the time.

Prosecutors said he planned the attack for four years, undergoing extensive training in explosives and how to operate in secret and avoid detection.

He then moved to the Philippines in 2017 where he began training as a commercial pilot.

Abdullah was almost finished with his two-year pilot training when he was arrested in 2019 on local charges.

He was transferred the following year to US law enforcement authorities, who charged him with terrorism related crimes.

Prosecutors said Abdullah also researched how to breach a cockpit door and information 'about the tallest building in a major US city' before he was caught.

The State Department in 2008 designated al-Shabab, which means 'the youth' in Arabic, as a foreign terrorist organization.

The militant group is an al-Qaida affiliate that has fought to establish an Islamic state in Somalia based on Shariah law.

Abdullah represented himself during the trial, which opened last week.

He declined to give an opening statement and did not actively participate in questioning witnesses.

In court papers filed ahead of the trial, prosecutors said Abdullah intended to 'merely sit passively during the trial, not oppose the prosecution and whatever the outcome, he would accept the outcome because he does not believe that this is a legitimate system.'

Lawyers appointed to assist Abdullah in his self-defense didn't respond to an email seeking comment Monday.

Iraq
Iraqi group claims fresh drone attacks on Israel
[IsraelTimes] An Iran-backed militia in Iraq claims to have fired drones at Israel in a pair of statements.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq says it fired drones at an unspecified site in “the southern occupied territories,” apparently referring to Israel’s south.

The group also says it attacked a “vital target” in Haifa.

Earlier, the Israeli military said it downed two drones fired from Iraq, including one that entered Israeli airspace in the Arava Desert, close to Ramon Airport.

The second drone was shot down before entering Israeli airspace, the military said.

Those attacks were also claimed by the Iraqi group.

There are no reports of drone attacks in Israel since then and no sirens have been activated.

IDF says most civilians in Jabalia have evacuated despite Hamas intimidation efforts

The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
’s Jabalia has evacuated, as the IDF presses on with an offensive against Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
in the area and other towns north of Gaza City.

The IDF says it has managed to move more than 55,000 civilians out of Jabalia after Hamas was allegedly forcing them to stay there to act as a human shield for their activities. Some 60,000 Paleostinians were estimated to have been in Jabalia before the latest operation was launched last month.

The population has largely moved to Gaza City, with only a few dozen crossing the IDF’s Netzarim Corridor and heading to the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in the Strip’s south.

According to the IDF, it has evidence and testimonies that Hamas shot, beat, and in some cases, executed civilians trying to flee the Jabalia area.

The IDF says it seeks to clear the town of civilians to enable a cleaner operation against terror operatives, without risking the lives of innocents, while Hamas attempts to hide behind the population.

Senior officers deny that the army is carrying out the so-called generals’ plan to lay siege to northern Gaza, promoted by a group of senior IDF retirees. Under the plan, north Gaza would become a military zone where everyone is a target, and no supplies would enter the territory.

On the ground, dozens of aid trucks are entering northern Gaza each day, via the two Erez crossings, and the civilian population is being safely evacuated and not intentionally targeted, according to the IDF.

The military says it has captured 700 members of Hamas and other terror groups who surrendered to forces during the evacuation of civilians in Jabalia. Among those captured are dozens who participated in the October 7 onslaught, including the raid on the Erez Crossing, the IDF says.

The detained terror operatives are providing the IDF with useful intelligence, the military says.

As of this morning, more than 1,000 terror operatives have also been killed amid the latest fighting in Jabalia, according to the IDF.

The IDF’s latest estimate puts the total number of people still in Jabalia at several hundred. Several thousand Paleostinians also remain in Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun, and other northern Gaza towns, where the military plans to operate against Hamas as part of the ongoing offensive.

North Gaza’s towns, including Jabalia, are now disconnected from Gaza City amid the ongoing operation, which the IDF says is to prevent Hamas operatives from escaping or alternatively, from bringing in reinforcements from Gaza City, where thousands of terror operatives are thought to be.

The ongoing operation is being carried out by the 162nd Division, with the 401st Armored Brigade, and the Givati and Kfir infantry brigades.

Amid the operation, the IDF says it has discovered over 200 homes that were booby-trapped with explosives. In two cases, the bombs were not discovered before troops entered the buildings, leading to casualties.

The operation marks the fourth push into Jabalia by the IDF since the start of the war a year ago. The military assesses that this operation will finally break Hamas’s forces in Jabalia, and it will no longer represent the terror group’s "most significant center of gravity" in northern Gaza.

Nineteen IDF soldiers and officers have been killed during the Jabalia operation so far, including the commander of the 401st Armored Brigade.

Over 100 patients to be evacuated from Gaza via Israel today, WHO says

[IsraelTimes] More than 100 patients including children suffering from trauma injuries and chronic diseases will be evacuated from Gaza today in a rare transfer out of the war-ravaged enclave, a World Health Organization official says.

“These are ad hoc measures. What we have requested repeatedly is a sustained medevac [medical evacuation] outside of Gaza,” says Rik Peeperkorn, adding that 12,000 people were awaiting transfer.

The patients will travel in a large convoy via the Kerem Shalom Crossing with Israel before flying to the United Arab Emirates, he adds, and then a portion will travel to Romania.
Generous of them.

The Women’s Committees Association of the PFLP has been declared to be a terror organization by Israel.

The IDF and Shin Bet said key figures who served as the heads of the PFLP in the West Bank were among those arrested, in addition to bully boyz who operated in the field for the organization.

The statement added that students at West Bank universities who were active members of PFLP cells at the educational institutions were also detained.

Offices and businesses were raided and closed down by troops, including a printing press that produced inflammatory materials for the PFLP.

The statement also said that the military has been acting against the terror group in Lebanon since the killing of the PFLP commander at the end of September. According to the military and Shin Bet, Nidal Abd al-Aal was involved in planning and advancing terror attacks in the West Bank.

Tel Aviv on fire after Gallant fired - but only thousands of protestors instead of hundreds of thousands; US officials ‘concerned’
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Pro-Netanyahu channel says protests ‘failed,’ noting low turnout
[IsraelTimes] A news station seen as heavily supportive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says protesters “failed emphatically” to repeat the 2023 demonstrations that forced the premier to walk back his first attempted firing of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, noting the significantly smaller turnout.

“Hundreds, maybe thousands of protesters indeed went out into the streets, after millions of cell phones got text messages calling on them to take to the streets,” Channel 14 says in its coverage of the protests. “There were a few protests in various places, the largest among them on the Ayalon [highway] in Tel Aviv.”

Indeed, the number of protesters to show out appears to have paled in comparison to March 2023, though there are no crowd numbers from organizers or officials.

On the Ayalon, all protesters have now been removed from both sides of the Tel Aviv highway, according to media reports, though detritus from the rallies, including bonfires set by demonstrators, is still being cleared before traffic can resume.

Netanyahu fires Gallant, says disagreements, lack of mutual trust helped the enemy
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Tuesday evening, citing a lack of mutual trust during a time of war as his reason for doing so.

Gallant will be replaced by Foreign Minister Israel Katz, while Minister without Portfolio Gideon Sa’ar will replace Katz in the Foreign Ministry.

In a terse letter that the Prime Minister’s Office said was handed to Gallant during an 8 p.m. meeting, Netanyahu informed him that his tenure would end "48 hours from the receipt of this letter."

"I would like to thank you for your service as defense minister," the curt letter concluded.

Following the brief interaction, Netanyahu left the room and recorded the video in which he announced the firing of his longtime Likud party rival, Channel 12 news reported.

"Unfortunately, although in the first months of the war there was trust and there was very fruitful work, during the last months this trust cracked between me and the defense minister," said Netanyahu in the video statement.

He said that the two disagreed on the management of the war, and that Gallant had made statements and taken actions that contradicted cabinet decisions. The premier also accused Gallant of indirectly aiding Israel’s enemies.

"I made many attempts to bridge these gaps, but they kept getting wider," he said. "They also came to the knowledge of the public in an unacceptable way, and worse than that, they came to the knowledge of the enemy — our enemies enjoyed it and derived a lot of benefit from it."

The "crisis of faith" with the defense minister "does not enable the proper continuation of the [military] campaign," Netanyahu continued.

He said that most members of the government and cabinet were in agreement with him "that this cannot continue. In light of this, I decided today to end the tenure of the defense minister."

Tuesday’s announcement is the second time in under two years that Netanyahu has fired Gallant from the post of defense minister. In March 2023, Netanyahu fired Gallant a day after the latter called for pausing the legislation process of the government’s contentious judicial overhaul plans, which he said caused divisions that posed a threat to Israel’s security. He was reinstated less than a month later, however, and was at the helm of the Defense Ministry when Hamas

Following his dismissal on Tuesday, Gallant issued a one-line statement of his own, writing on X that "the security of the State of Israel always was, and will always remain, my life’s mission."

The statement was identical to the one he published on the night of his first firing, 18 months ago.

He elaborated at a presser later on Tuesday night, where he appeared visibly emotional as he explained that the reason for his dismissal was threefold: The need to draft Haredi men to the IDF, the imperative to bring back the hostages from Gaza, and the need for a state commission of inquiry in the October 7 Hamas terror onslaught and ensuing war.

The issue of the Haredi draft, he said, "isn’t only a social one, but is a topic central to our existence — the security of Israel and the nation that sits in Zion."

Israel will be facing complex challenges in the coming years, he said. "In these circumstances, there is no choice. Everyone must serve in the IDF, and participate in the mission of defending Israel."

Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi sought to tie Gallant’s dismissal to his recent calls for the ousting of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara who, like Gallant, has clashed with the government several times over laws and decisions she deems to be illegal.

the Movement for Quality Government in Israel
…one of the brigades (or whatever the appropriate military unit is) in the [Biden -]Harris administration’s covert war on Israel’s Netanyahu government. The Movement for Quality Government in Israel (MQG), one of the key organizations protesting against the coalition’s judicial overhaul program before 10/7, is Antifa, and its cadres are paid agents of the U.S. State Department, loudly demanding the complete overthrow of Israeli democracy to achieve their demands for the rearrangement of Israel’s homegrown system. MQG was previously known as V15 (for Victory 15, 2015 being the previous election Bibi won against the will of a Democratic president), both names being fig leaves for its true identity as the Israeli branch of the Washington, DC-based OneVoice Movement founded by Progressive multi-billionaire Daniel Lubetzky in 2002 as an international “grassroots” front of his PeaceWorks Foundation to drive Israel to fulfill his vision for the region without him bothering to become a citizen. The US State Department gave V15 millions of dollars under President Obama, and more in recent years...
called on Baharav-Miara to “intervene immediately and examine the legality” of the decision to fire Gallant.

Just as they did in March 2023, protesters took to the streets up and down the country, joining spontaneous demonstrations
…astroturf rather than grassroots, so more “spontaneous”…
dubbed “Gallant Night 2,” though the rallies appeared to be significantly smaller than last year.

Protests erupted in both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, while dozens were reported to be protesting in Haifa, Nahariya and other communities in northern Israel, in defiance of Home Front Command instructions to limit public gatherings amid persistent rocket fire from Lebanon.

In Tel Aviv, thousands took advantage of the spontaneous nature of the protest and descended onto the Ayalon Highway, blocking traffic in both directions as police were unable to seal the entrances to the thoroughfare with trucks, as they usually do for the weekly Saturday night protests.

In Jerusalem, crowds gathered near Netanyahu’s private residence on Azza Street, calling for the removal of the premier, whom they called a “tyrant,” and for the release of the hostages held by Hamas.

The Hostages Families Forum called the firing of Gallant a “direct continuation of the efforts to torpedo the hostage deal.”

Shifting tone, US official says Gallant firing ‘concerning,’ questions PM’s motives

Heh.

He did not get much credit for it, but IMAO, one of Trump's big accomplishments in his previous term was squeezing China out of NAFTA. China was not formally a member of the North American Free Trade Agreement in the same way that Turkey is part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. But they were shipping goods to Canada where they would be repackaged, stamped Made in Canada, and then shipped to the US tariff free.

Iran sentences 3 to death over 2020 killing of nuclear scientist blamed on Israel
[IsraelTimes] Iran has sentenced three people to death over the 2020 assassination of one of the country’s top nuclear scientists, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the judiciary says.

“The judicial processes of these three people were carried out in the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, and they were sentenced to death in the initial stage, and the case is currently in the appeal stage,” judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir tells a Tehran press conference.

Fakhrizadeh was killed when his car was ambushed on a highway outside the capital in November 2020, in an attack Iran blamed on Israel.

“After some investigations, three people out of eight arrested in West Azerbaijan province, were accused of committing espionage for the occupying regime of Israel,” Jahangir says.
Three? Eight?? At one point it was seriously reported that he was taken out by a 62-man hit squad in six vehicles, the squad being equipped with machine guns and a car bomb. The sole eyewitness was quoted as saying, “Sixty-two? Shoooot, there wuz hundreds of ‘em — 413 to be precise, unless I miss my guess, an’ I never miss my guess. And every single one of ‘em wuz blond, blue-eyed, an’ dressed like that Lawrence o’Arabia feller on a bad day. ‘Cept the girlies — they all looked like them 72 virgin hareem dancin’ girls they tell us ’bout every Friday, all doe eyes an’ wearin’ no more than a cuppla bits o’wispy stuff where it warnt needed nohow! Can’t blame that scientist general for stoppin’ his car when he saw all that caperin’ in the road, no indeed!”.
He adds that the three are also “accused of transporting equipment into Iran for the assassination of martyr Fakhrizadeh under the guise of smuggling alcoholic beverages.”

In December 2022, then judiciary spokesman Massoud Setayeshi said nine people had been charged with the capital offense of “corruption on earth” for their suspected collusion with Israel in the assassination.

Fakhrizadeh had been under US sanctions for his role in Iran’s nuclear program when he was killed.

Iranian authorities said the attackers used a bomb and a remote-controlled machine gun.

Israel has never commented on the killing.

In 2018, the Israeli government accused Fakhrizadeh of leading Iran’s efforts to develop an atomic bomb, a claim Iran has always vehemently denied.

The sentencing of the three comes the day after a Jewish Iranian man, Arvin Nathaniel Ghahremani, was executed in Iran after a two-year battle by his family and the local Jewish community to save his life. He was executed over a fatal stabbing he claimed was in self-defense.

Lebanon official says Israeli commandos jammed UNIFIL radar in abduction operation
Oh noes! Anyway…
[IsraelTimes] A preliminary probe finds that Israeli commandos used a speedboat equipped with radar-jamming devices during the abduction of a Lebanese man accused of being a Hezbollah operative, a Lebanese judicial official tells AFP Tuesday.

The initial findings suggest that “the Israeli army used a high-speed vessel equipped with advanced devices capable of jamming radars” belonging to the United Nations peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) that monitors the Lebanese coast, the official says, requesting anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.

The probe into the abduction operation on Saturday is jointly conducted by the Lebanese police and judiciary.

The UN peacekeeping Maritime Task Force has helped Lebanon’s army monitor territorial waters and prevent the entry of arms or related material by sea since 2006, according to the mission’s website.
Except when they're openly delivered by ships delivering from Iran
Germany has headed UNIFIL’s maritime task force since January 2021.

On Saturday, Israeli naval commandos seized a man that a military official described as a “senior operative” of Hezbollah in a raid in northern Lebanon and brought him to Israel for questioning.

He was identified as Imad Amhaz.

IDF confirms airstrike on Hezbollah arms depots in western Syria
[IsraelTimes] The IDF confirms carrying out airstrikes in Syria a short while ago, targeting Hezbollah weapon depots.

The weapon depots used by Hezbollah were struck by fighter jets in the al-Qusayr area in western Syria, close to the border with Lebanon.

The IDF says Hezbollah’s armament unit is responsible for storing weapons in Lebanon, and it recently expanded its activities to Syria, storing weapons in al-Qusayr.
Syria’s state-run SANA news agency reports an Israeli airstrike targeting an industrial zone in the western Syrian city of al-Qusayr, not far from the border with Lebanon.

Lebanese Red Cross will try again to remove bodies from a strike site
[NAHARNET] The Lebanese Red Cross will send another convoy Tuesday to Wata al-Khiam in southern Lebanon to search for and remove the bodies of 15 people killed in an Israeli airstrike, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said.

Paramedics accessed the site of the strike two days prior and removed five other bodies, but needed to return with larger vehicles to remove the rubble. The NNA said the deployment is in coordination with the United Nations peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, which is the usual procedure.

The Red Cross did not immediately comment on the news, but expressed concern in recent weeks over several instances where Israel has struck in or close to areas where they have deployed paramedics to search for wounded people and casualties.

The Israeli military said it issued warnings to the residents there in late October to evacuate ahead of strikes on Hezbollah militant targets, and told ambulances to avoid the area.

Entire streets and neighborhoods in 37 towns have been wiped out and homes have been destroyed, NNA said.

''More than 40,000 residential units have been completely destroyed. This is happening in an area three kilometers deep (from the border) that extends from Naqoura to the outskirts of Khiam,'' the agency added.

Israeli airstrike targets apartment in Jiye
[NAHARNET] Lebanese state media reported a strike on an apartment in the Jiye coastal area south of Beirut on Tuesday, more than a month into the Israel-Hezbollah war.

The official National News Agency said "a raid targeted a residential apartment in a building in the town of Jiye," where an AFP correspondent said a large plume of grey smoke covered the area.
"Now we'll never get our security deposit back!"
Al-Mayadeen television said a woman was killed and 15 people were wounded in the strike.

This is the second Israeli airstrike to target Jiye since the beginning of the Israel-Hezbollah war in 2023. The first strike had targeted a center for Hezbollah-affiliated paramedics.

Report: Israel withdraws brigades from Lebanon amid talks progress
[NAHARNET] The Israeli army has withdrawn several brigades from south Lebanon amid ''progress'' in the ceasefire negotiations, Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported on Tuesday.

''After the officials involved in the negotiations estimated that it is possible to reach an agreement within a week and a half to two weeks, the army withdrew several brigades from south Lebanon,'' the daily said.

''Progress has been made in the negotiations, especially as to formulating the side document that will accompany the agreement, which will guarantee the freedom of Israeli military action in south Lebanon should the mechanism to enforce the ceasefire fail,'' the newspaper added.
