#5  A long time ago a number of republicans in swing states should have registered as Democrats. Play the long game people. Maybe you'll even get the other team to elect you if you say the right things. Doesn't matter if they toss you out after one term you will have done your job and gotten juicy gov retirement. I'm pretty sure this has been the Dem gameplan for decades.

#9  Bette Davis Eyes

Kim Carnes

Her hair is Harlow gold
Her lips, a sweet surprise
Her hands are never cold
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll turn the music on you
You won't have to think twice
She's pure as New York snow
She got Bette Davis eyes

And she'll tease you
She'll unease you
All the better just to please you
She's precocious
And she knows just what it takes to make a pro blush
She got Greta Garbo stand-off sighs
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll let you take her home
It whets her appetite
She'll lay you on a throne
She got Bette Davis eyes

She'll take a tumble on you
Roll you like you were dice
Until you come up blue
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll expose you
When she snows you
Off your feet with the crumbs she throws you
She's ferocious
And she knows just what it takes to make a pro blush
All the boys think she's a spy
She's got Bette Davis eyes

And she'll tease you
She'll unease you
All the better just to please you
She's precocious
And she knows just what it takes to make a pro blush
All the boys think she's a spy
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll tease you
She'll unease you
Just to please you
She's got Bette Davis eyes
She'll expose you
When she snows you
'Cause she knows you
She's got Bette Davis eyes

#10  DETROIT — Michigan’s biggest city hasn’t met its legal duty to hire roughly equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans as election inspectors, the local, state and national GOP argue in a lawsuit filed Friday.

The 14-page complaint in state court notes that under Michigan law, election officials in Detroit and elsewhere “shall appoint an equal number, as nearly as possible, of election inspectors in each election precinct from each major political party.” Fox News first reported the lawsuit.

RSF threatens to form government if Sudan's army refuses talks
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) threatened on Saturday to declare a government in the capital Khartoum if the army continues to refuse negotiations to end their 16-month conflict.

The RSF, led by General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, said such a move would aim to protect civilians and delegitimize army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who they claim controls only 20% of Sudan.

''The army's refusal to negotiate could lead to the declaration of a government in Khartoum,'' said Elbasha Mohmed Tbaeq, an advisor to Daglo, in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He accused the army and its allies of ignoring the humanitarian crisis and prioritizing a return to power, even at the cost of the Sudanese people and the potential fragmentation of the country.

Al-Bashir said a potential RSF-led government would establish diplomatic relations, create a banking system, and open markets for exports in areas under its control.

''All options are open in the coming weeks,'' he warned.

The threat comes as Burhan, in a separate press conference, indicated a willingness to form a transitional technocratic government.

Sudan journalists union says armed group kidnaps reporter, demands ransom
[SUDANTRIBUNE] An gang has kidnapped a journalist in an area of Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's capital controlled by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and is demanding a ransom for his release, the Sudanese journalists' union said on Sunday.

The union said Alaa El-Din Abu Harba was taken from his home in east Khartoum on Friday.

It said the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of 1 million Sudanese pounds ($365) and after receiving it were now demanding a further billion pounds.
"One million Sudanese pounds!"
"Yeah. Okay, Doctor Evil. We can swing that!"
"Oh, sorry! I meant a billion! With a 'b'!"

''This puts the life of Abu Harba in grave danger,'' the union said in a statement, holding the RSF responsible for his safety.

The RSF did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

There has been widespread lawlessness in the capital since war broke out in Sudan in April between the army and the RSF.

The journalists' union has recorded 438 violations against journalists since the conflict began, including four killings.

Earlier this month, another journalist in east Khartoum, Abdel Rahman Hanin, had his home raided by an gang who looted valuables and cash, the union said.

The men terrorized Hanin's wife and children and stole laptops, mobile phones, cash and gold jewellery, it added.

Libyan Authorities Save 51 Migrants
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

The General Administration for Coastal Security in Libya announced the rescue of 51 irregular migrants near the coast of Qarabulli on Sunday.

According to the Administration, the boat “Wadi Kaam 300p” successfully rescued the migrants, who hailed from various nationalities, after their boat came to a halt. The migrants were brought ashore at the Shaab Port Point, which is part of the Tripoli branch, where legal procedures were undertaken, and they were handed over to the Directorate for Combating Illegal Migration.

Earlier on the same day, Coastal Security reported the rescue of 123 irregular migrants, who were on board a dilapidated boat off the coast of Zuwara.

Up to 200 people killed in attack in central Burkina Faso
[AlJazeera] An gang linked to al-Qaeda, Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Moslemin (JNIM), has grabbed credit for what it says was an attack that killed up to 200 people and injured at least 140 in central Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president used to be Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and was chased out in 2014. Now it's the usual army officer type guy, Captain Ibrahim Traore, running things, who's just doing a bang-up job unless he's already been deposed...
.The attack took place on Saturday in the region of Barsalogho, about 40km (25 miles) north of the strategic town of Kaya, which analysts said is home to the last standing force protecting the capital, Ouagadougou.

Fighters opened fire on teams of people digging trenches designed to protect security outposts. Several soldiers were missing after the attack, and the attackers took weapons and a military ambulance.

Reporting from Dakar, Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
, Al Jazeera's Nicholas Haque said JNIM posted gruesome videos of the aftermath of the attack.

''We see men, women and kiddies laying inside the trenches they were digging themselves. Effectively, they have turned into mass graves,'' he said, adding that the hospital in the area has called doctors, nurses and other medical staff from Kaya to treat those who have been injured in the attack.

Haque noted that the Burkina Faso army knew on Friday that an attack was going to happen and called on the population to dig trenches.

''That shows the desperation of Burkina Faso's forces, who have lost control of half of their territory to gangs linked to al-Qaeda,'' he added.

Burkina Faso has severed its ties with Western countries such as La Belle France that had been involved in helping the country's security forces tackle gangs.

Haque said that recently the government had been calling on the help of Russian mercenary fighters to support it strategically but also to help stem the attacks.

''Despite that help, it seems that those attacks are getting closer and closer to the capital,'' Haque said. He noted that the country's military leaders, who came to power in a coup in 2022, have also had to face down several attempted coups due to discontent with the way it has struggled with the fight against gangs.

Pro-Iran militants kill two Nigerian police officers
[ARABNEWS] An attack by an outlawed pro-Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
Nigerian Shiite group on Sunday killed at least two law enforcement officers, police said, with three more found unconscious in the capital Abuja.

The capital's police force confirmed ''an unprovoked attack by the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN)... on some personnel of the Nigeria Police Force,'' said a statement by police spokeswoman Josephine Adeh.
Sounds about right for Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky’s crew. Try ‘em fair, then hang ‘em high. That lot aren’t hanged nearly often enough.
During the attack on a police checkpoint, ''two police personnel were killed, three left unconscious in the hospital, and three police patrol vehicles set ablaze,'' Adeh added.

Inspired by the Islamic Revolution in Iran in the late 1970s, the IMN still maintains close ties with Tehran.

It has long been at loggerheads with Nigeria's secular authorities and was banned in 2019.

Sunday's attackers carried out their assault wielding machetes, knives and improvised bombs, according to the police.

With several arrests made, Abuja's police commissioner, Benneth C. Igweh, condemned the ''unprovoked attack,'' vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

''The situation is presently under control and normality restored,'' the police statement added.

In July 2021, after more than five years in prison, IMN leader Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife were released by a court in Kaduna, in the north of the country.

A Shiite holy man, Zakzaky has repeatedly called for an Iranian-style Islamic revolution in Nigeria — where the Moslem population is predominantly Sunni.

20 injured as students, Ansars clash at secretariat
[NEWAGEBD] Thousands of Ansar personnel on Sunday kept all the entrances of the Bangladesh Secretariat blocked even after the office hours pressing for nationalisation of their jobs and later clashed with students, who rushed to get the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement out of the administrative hub.

About 35 students and six Ansar members were maimed in the clash and were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital before the protesting Ansar members were removed from the place at about 10:40pm.

The situation came under control as additional police and army personnel were deployed and those who were confined in the secretariat were brought out.

The agitating Ansar members blocked the roads of the secretariat holding a sit-in at around 12:00pm and also confined the secretariat officials blocking all the gates of the secretariat in the afternoon to press home their one-point demand.

Some officials, however, were seen leaving the secretariat without their vehicles in the evening. Later, the other confined officials came out in the vehicles under the protection of the army.

Several meeting were held with representative of coordinators of Ansar and interim government home affairs adviser Md Jahangir Alam, information adviser Nahid Islam, sports adviser Asif Mahmud and Ansar-VDP director general Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud.

At first, a seven-member representative of Ansar met with the home adviser and discussed their demands.

Following the meeting, a representative Moniruzzaman announced the protesters that the authorities revoked the six-month rest rule and they would look into the demands gradually.

The protesters, however, rejected the announcement chanting slogans for nationalisation of their jobs.

Newly appointed DG Sajjad talked with the Ansar in front of the secretariat entrance and announced that he was very much aware of the discriminations in the troupe and the initiative to abolish those discriminations were already begun.

He also assured the Ansar that he would see the results of the initiatives within seven days but protesters again rejected the assurance demanding written assurance.

Ansar personnel effused to leave the street till nationalisation of their jobs.

He said that Ansar members from across the country, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Barishal, Narayanganj and Noakhali joined their protest, which began on August 11.

A seven-member committee was also formed on Saturday to examine logical demands of Ansar-VDP.

They began their protests about a week after former prime minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. resigned and fled to India on August 5 amid a student-led mass uprising.

They have been continuing their protests for more than two weeks demanding job regularisation, cancelling vacation in every three years and others.

According to Ansar VDP officials, 98,000—99,000 trained Ansar members are active in the force with 55,000 now employed in different government and private establishments.

Europe
Nearly 200 migrants rescued in Mediterranean Sea on Friday
[AFRICANEWS] It was another dramatic night on the central Mediterranean Sea on Friday with NGO Doctors Without Borders rescuing nearly 200 migrants colonists in five operations.

One of the survivors said they had spent four days stranded at sea after the boat they were on suffered engine failure.

Some people in distress on a fibreglass boat had to be plucked from the water.

A total of 191 migrants colonists were brought to safety on board the NGOs ship, Geo Barents, which is now sailing towards the Italian port of Salerno.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people attempt to reach Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
from North Africa by crossing the Mediterranean Sea.

The UN's International Organization for Migration's Missing Migrants Project found that 3,041 people were dead or went missing in the Mediterranean last year.

Paris airport partially evacuated after bomb threat
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Terminals 2 and 3 of Orly Airport in Paris were evacuated on the evening of August 25 due to a bomb threat, the newspaper Parisien reported, citing sources.

“The complainant called and said that he had planted a bomb in the airport toilet,” the publication quoted the source as saying.
"I just had Taco Bell. Nobody is safe!"
He said that the anonymous message was received at 18:00 local time (19:00 Moscow time). The premises are being examined by specialized teams with dog handlers.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 6, a stampede occurred at the Koltsovo airport in Yekaterinburg due to panic caused by one of the passengers. Two people were injured as a result. Presumably, the incident occurred due to a loud noise from a falling trash can.

In April, Bullund Airport in Denmark was evacuated due to a bomb threat. Security forces detained a man and an investigation was launched.

Punjab Police rescue constable abducted by Katcha dacoits in Rahim Yar Khan
[GEOTV] The Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Police have rescued a cop from a gang of notorious Katcha (riverine area) dacoits of Machka in District Rahim Yar Khan, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.

On Thursday, a group of Katcha bandidos blew up two police vehicles with a rocket in Machka, martyring 12 cops and wounding six others.

Constable Ahmed Nawaz was kidnapped by robbers heavily armed with sophisticated modern weaponry after the attack on police mobile.

In a statement, Rizwan Omar Gondal, District Police Officer (DPO) Rahim Yar Khan, said that the police department was working with full strength in the riverine areas.

Constable Nawaz was reportedly released in exchange for dacoit Jabbar Lolai, who had been in police custody, according to sources cited by Geo News. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...

Israeli troops battle Palestinian fighters in Khan Younis
[GEOTV] Israeli troops battled Palestinian fighters in Khan Younis in southern Gaza and destroyed tunnels and other infrastructure, as they sought to suppress small units that have continued to hit troops with mortar fire, the military said on Friday.

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) said troops had killed around 100 Palestinian fighters since Israeli troops began their latest operation in Khan Younis on Monday, which continued as pressure mounted for a deal to halt the fighting.

It said seven small units that had been firing mortars at the troops were hit in an air strike, while further south, in Rafah, four fighters were also killed in air strikes.

Russian Aerospace Forces Destroy Three Militant Bases in Syria
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed three militant bases in Syria. This was announced during a briefing on August 24 by Oleg Ignasyuk, deputy head of the Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides (CROS) in the Arab Republic.

“On August 23, strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed three locations where militants had been based, having left the At-Tanf zone and taken refuge in hard-to-reach areas of the Syrian White Desert, ” Ignasyuk reported.

He added that over the past 24 hours, the Center for Strategic and Inter-Agency Cooperation has not recorded any instances of shelling of positions of Syrian government troops by terrorist groups in the Idlib de-escalation zone.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on July 10, the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out high-precision strikes on targets of illegal armed groups in the Syrian province of Idlib, including a militant training camp near the settlement of Ashkhani-Takhtani and a workshop for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles. As a result of the strikes, 15 militants were eliminated and another 20 were wounded.

On July 23, the deputy head of the Center for Strategic and Intervention Studies in Syria reported that the Russian Forpost-R unmanned aerial vehicle, in response to the ongoing attempts by radical groups to use UAVs and multiple launch rocket systems to attack targets in the territory controlled by the Syrian government, struck a militant base in Idlib province.
