[Gateway] A Minnesota jury found 5 of the 7 Somali defendants guilty of stealing millions of dollars in Covid funds intended to feed children.
70 members of the Somali community in Minnesota stole about $250 million in Covid funds. The seven defendants on trial related to the scheme were accused of stealing more than $40 million in taxpayer money.
Millions of dollars went overseas to Somalia. 80% of the stolen Covid money was never recovered.
"The verdict confirms what we’ve known all along, which is that defendants falsified documents, they lied and they fraudulently claimed to be feeding millions of meals to children in Minnesota during COVID," Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said. "The defendants took advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to defraud the state of Minnesota and to steal tens of millions of dollars."
The guilty verdict comes after a juror was offered a bag of cash to vote to acquit. A Somali woman showed up at one of the juror’s homes with $120,000 in cash. The juror was ultimately dismissed. The FBI is still investigating the bribe.

[Breitbart] A report from the Tennessee Star indicates that Audrey Hale, the 28-year-old transgender woman who shot and killed six people on March 27, 2023, bought her guns with federal grant money.
CNN noted that Hale bought a total of seven guns "between October 20, 2020, and June 6, 2022," and all were legally purchased.
The Tennessee Star quoted 99.7 WTN afternoon radio host Brian Wilson noting that Hale allegedly "took money from an education grant she received to purchase her weapons and to pay for training at a local gun range."
Hale hid the guns in her family home and, a day after the heinous shooting, her parents said they were unaware. They thought Hale had a bought one gun in the past, then sold it.
But Hale had guns and she took three of them with her to carry out the heinous attack. And despite numerous establishment media reports, including CNN, which claimed Hale "was in possession of an AR-15 military-style rifle" in the school, she did not possess an AR-15 rifle during the attack.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]…trans girl and how she would 'kill' to get puberty blockers.
Transgender killer Audrey Hale wrote about her 'imaginary penis' and how she would 'kill' to get puberty blockers in the weeks before her horrific attack on the Covenant School in Nashville last year.
The Tennessee Star obtained some four dozen pages of Hale's writings that shed light on her female-to-male transition and why she shot and killed six people at the elementary school in March 2023.
Hale wrote about anger toward her parents, how she hated her conservative Christian upbringing, and how she had suffered because hormone blockers were not available when she was as a child.
The explosive writings, sometimes referred to as Hale's 'manifesto,' have been a source of controversy, with many accusing officials of keeping them secret because they would hurt the trans community.
Now released, they help explain why the 28-year-old artist, who identified as a male named Aiden, shot her way into the Tennessee school, killing three adults and three nine-year-olds, before responding officers killed her.

Accusing. Its been how long, and now just select lines being slow leaked, and they are the See Her parts during 'Pride Month' for sympathy? No, I do not think there is accusing going on here.
How did a failed 28 year old artist with no plans to enter a university get an education grant and its money up-front?
[FoxNews] A predominantly Black neighborhood in Hartford, Connecticut, hoping to fend off violent crime, has turned to an armed group of citizens to patrol their streets by land and by air.
The so-called "Self-Defense Brigade" — made up of about 40 legally armed citizens — are voluntarily patrolling the streets of Hartford’s North End wearing body cameras mostly on nights and weekends, according to the group’s founder, Cornell Lewis.
When the armed volunteers are not on the streets, the group monitors video feeds from a dozen drones hovering over the neighborhood, and 75 home surveillance cameras in the neighborhood.
"The Democratic machine in Hartford is either unwilling or unable, incapable of doing it, and people are paying their tax dollars, and they're not really getting any kind of service," Lewis told Fox News. "So we want the people to understand, number one, self-defense is not a dirty word."

After working as a lawyer for a few years, the naturalized American citizen decided to go into politics, and as Hartford is a deep blue city, he naturally became a Democrat. This may not turn out to be as clever as first appeared…

And what did Besoeker say earlier about seven US Congressthings going up in a vintage plane for a jump for the D-Day commemoration?
"Let me tell you a story, about a woman I know... [Zero Hedge] - An obese woman has won Miss Alabama, with the organizers of the contest insisting that the intention of the beauty pageant was to "foster a positive self-image."
Yes, really. "When it comes to lovin, she really steals the show..
After Sara Milliken learned that she had won the competition and would go on to represent her state at the national level, she hit back at critics who questioned her weight.
"Even something that you type over a screen can have a lasting impression on people," she told WKRG. "She ain't exactly pretty, ain't exactly small...
According to a report by the news network, "The purpose of the national American Miss program is to grow confidence and foster a positive self-image."
This despite the fact that the level of obesity displayed by Milliken is linked with all manner of horrible diseases like diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and certain cancers.

She has a sweet face, but I’d give her a brighter lipstick, and put her in draped matte fabrics and strong foundation garments. At that weight a good girdle counts as back support, not waist cinching.
I’d hate to have been picked merely because the organizers are making a statement, but clearly she’s not as punctilious.

[ABC] A group of American lawmakers honored the bravery of World War II veterans who took part in D-Day with a parachute jump into Normandy on Friday morning, using some of the same vintage planes that flew American paratroopers over France 80 years ago.
The lawmakers are all military veterans, and were led by Reps. Jason Crow, D-Colo., and Michael Waltz, R-Fla. The other participants included: Reps. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, Rich McCormick, R-Ga., Mark Green, R-Tenn., Cory Mills, R-Fla., Darrell Issa, R-Calif. and Keith Self, R-Texas.
Crow, an Army Ranger who served in two units that played key roles in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, said the jump was a "very personal experience."
"To participate in the jump over the same fields 80 years to the week was an incredible experience and my way of highlighting that service and sacrifice," Crow said.

Don't wish to harsh anyone's patriotism, but I'm not sure our representatives need to be doing this sort of thing. Just my opinion.

[MILITARY] American intelligence agencies are warning that China is working hard to recruit American military pilots, as well as aviators from NATO and ally countries, as tensions continue to rise in the Pacific.
The warning about China's recruiting methods came in a bulletin published Wednesday by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, along with Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom -- countries that share intelligence with one another frequently.
"To overcome their shortcomings, China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has been aggressively recruiting Western military talent to train their aviators, using private firms around the globe that conceal their PLA ties and offer recruits exorbitant salaries," Michael Casey, the director of ODNI's National Counterintelligence and Security Center, said in a statement. "Recent actions by Western governments have impacted these operations, but PLA recruitment efforts continue to evolve in response."

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen walked away following an assault by a man in central Copenhagen on Friday and had no outward signs of harm, a local resident told Reuters.
"Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was beaten on Friday evening at Kultorvet (square, red.) in Copenhagen by a man who was subsequently arrested.
It will be interesting to see who he is and why he did it: mentally ill, jihadi, left wing nut, right wing nut…
The Prime Minister is shocked by the incident," her office said in a statement without giving further detail.
Copenhagen Police and Denmark’s national security and intelligence service confirmed the incident to Reuters but declined to provide more detail.
"She seemed a little stressed," Soren Kjergaard, who works as a barista on the square, told Reuters after seeing the prime minister being escorted away by security following the assault.
Danish Minister of Environment Magnus Heunicke said on X: "Mette is naturally shocked by the attack. I must say that it shakes all of us who are close to her."

[BLAZE] Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has come clean about social media and the algorithm, explaining that the entire thing is rigged.
"This is going to sound a little bit crazy, but I think the free speech debate is a complete distraction right now. I think the real debate should be about free will. And we feel it right now, because we are being programmed," Dorsey began.
"We are being programmed based on what we say we’re interested in, and we are told through these discovery mechanisms what is interesting. And as we engage and interact with this content, the algorithm continues to build more and more of this bias."
Dorsey went on to say that because people have become so dependent on these algorithms, "it’s actually changing and impacting the agency we have — the free agency we have."
Jason Whitlock has been warning of the dangers of the social media matrix for eight years, and he’s glad one of its co-creators is coming clean.
"It’s a very, very profound thing that he’s saying. It’s a very, very important thing that he’s saying. It’s long, long overdue," Whitlock says. "He’s saying, ’Hey, we created Frankenstein. We thought that we were smarter than everybody else, we thought that we were going to use these algorithms and all the social media platforms to program a better America, to program a better human being.’"
"I’ve been telling you all for years," he continues, "the reason why American culture turned on a dime on same-sex marriage, on acceptance, and affirming LGBTQIA+ lifestyle — because social media programmed you to do that."
This is why Dorsey says that free speech is essentially irrelevant.
"What he’s saying is we can amplify the speech that we want. We can amplify the narrative, the agenda that we want to amplify, and your ability to speak freely becomes irrelevant," Whitlock says.

[Life Science] DNA from prehistoric and modern-day people suggests that humans interbred with Neanderthals 47,000 years ago for a period lasting 6,800 years.
Neanderthal genes seen in modern humans may have entered our DNA through an interval of interbreeding starting about 47,000 years ago that lasted nearly 7,000 years, new research finds. See: "Waters, Maxine"
Neanderthals were among the closest extinct relatives of modern humans (Homo sapiens), with the ancestors of both lineages diverging about 500,000 years ago. More than a decade ago, scientists revealed that Neanderthals interbred with the ancestors of modern humans who migrated out of Africa. Today, the genomes of modern human populations outside Africa contain about 1% to 2% of Neanderthal DNA.
Researchers are still unsure about when and where Neanderthal DNA made its way into the modern human genome. For instance, did Neanderthals and modern humans intermingle at one specific place and time outside Africa, or did they interbreed at many places and times?
To solve this mystery, researchers analyzed more than 300 modern human genomes spanning the past 45,000 years. These included samples from 59 individuals who lived between 2,200 and 45,000 years ago and 275 diverse present-day modern humans. The scientists posted their findings on the BioRxiv preprint database. (As the study is currently under review for potential publication in a scientific journal, the study's authors declined to comment.)
The scientists focused on how much Neanderthal DNA they could see in these modern human samples. By comparing how the level of Neanderthal ancestry varied in modern human DNA across different locations and times, they could estimate when Neanderthals and modern humans interbred, and for how long.

Aborigines claim to have been in Australia, isolated, for 60,000 years
Yet they also have neanderthal and denisovan DNA?
Not in africa. Only African blacks lack neanderthal dna?
Current thinking is there were multiple waves of migration out of Africa, our ancestral home. Some that headed towards Europe became the Neanderthals, some who went east to Asia became the Denisovians. Nothing too surprising about that, isolated populations tend to drift genetically.
Way back when, the sea level was a 100 meters lower. This meant our Indonesian archipelago was a landmass we now call Sundaland. The people living in east Asia, along with their Denisovan genes, could migrate down from Asia, across Sundaland to New Guinea and Australia.
Africans who never left Africa had little contact with the Neanderthals or Denisovans, which meant few opportunities for gene mixing (*he means boinking*)
An excellent book on this is Who We Are and How We Got Here: Ancient DNA and the New Science of the Human Past by David Reich. It tells the story of ancestral human migration thru full genome DNA sequencing. It gets a bit technical in spots, but has some great maps showing population movements over time.
Spoilers:
There is no such thing as "racial purity". The distinct races we today are *all* mixtures of two or more ancestral groups. And the same with those groups.
Populations were much more mobile than we imagine. The people who built Stonehenge were not the people living there 500 years later.
