[Yawn!] Anybody know what's for dinner? [NY Post] An inmate in Hawaii who broke out of jail, jumped onto an interstate during his escape and was hit by a car while fleeing police last week has died, authorities said. I guess I should be interested, if only for the comedy value. Cue mournful ukelele music...
I had no idea mournful ukulele music was a thing.
Matthew J. Ornellas Jr., 33, beat feet from Kauai Community Correctional Center last Friday but, just moments after escaping the facility, became the victim of a serious hit-and-run. "Har! I'm a dangerous desperado and you coppers can't catch me! Haleakkaloa!"
[VROOM! THUMP!]
"Aaaaiiieee! I am undone!"
"Does Haleakaloa have one K or two?"
On Thursday, the Hawaii Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said he died of injuries he suffered. "He's dead, Jim!"
Officials at the facility said Ornellas scaled a fence with razor wire, and correctional officers gave chase but lost sight of him. "Razor wire?"
"He's gettin' away!"
"I'm goin' around to the gate."
"Meet you there!"
The correctional officers then heard a loud sound and ultimately found Ornellas on the interstate, about 100 yards from the jail. Yeah. The interstate. In Hawaii.
He was maimed and was subsequently hospitalized. "Into th' ambulance wit' yez, me boyo!"
"You sure you're Hawaiian, Paddy?"
Orenellas was running north on the southbound lane of Kuhio Highway when he was hit, Kauai police said. Important safety tip: Don't do dat.
He was serving time for a drug conviction, according to the Hawaii Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. A drug conviction? Like wow, man!
The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said it is continuing to investigate the escape.

[NY Post] Newly unveiled footage shows the moment a passenger fired a gun as he leaned out a car window during a drive-by shooting that killed a 43-year-old mother on a Las Vegas street.
Kevin Perez-Stubbs, 16, allegedly shot and killed innocent bystander and mother of one Shawna McCowan in April 2023 after she and a friend got caught in the gunfire.
She was walking with the friend and dogs on the same sidewalk as two teens toward whom Perez-Stubbs was allegedly shooting when she was shot, police documents reportedly stated, according to KLAS.
Two teens had gotten into a fight earlier at an apartment complex close by before the shooting erupted on the street.
New grainy surveillance footage obtained by KLAS this week showed McCowan and her companion walking up the street on the night of April 23 before a car with its headlights off drove toward the camera and two people were seen fleeing down the street.
A passenger then fired a gun while hanging out the window as the vehicle went down the empty street, according to the footage.
McCowan, who split time between Colorado and Las Vegas, was hit in the back and neck after multiple rounds were fired, according to police docs the station reported on.
The teacher, who also worked as a flight attendant, was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, leaving behind a husband and son.
Four teenagers were charged with murder following the incident.
Accused gunman Perez-Stubbs, 16, his brother Johnathan Perez-Stubbs, 19, and Mezarius Finch, 17, were arrested last year, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Earlier this year, Tyshean Tillman, 19, was arrested and charged with open murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department said.
Tillman was the alleged driver while Jonathan Perez-Stubbs and Finch were passengers in the car, police have said.
Tillman, Finch and Johnathan Perez-Stubbs all took plea deals, though more information was not revealed because the records were sealed, KLAS reported.
Kevin Perez-Stubbs’ trial on murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges is reportedly set for June.

A case where 'gun control' would have made a difference - the punk would have hit what he was aiming at rather than an innocent bystander.

Innit funny. 6-700 million guns in the country and only the ones in hands like those of this skell here are a problem. But the gummint only goes after everyone else's guns and pretty much lets the skells run wild...

I wonder where the classification center will place him? That might tell us if he's "cooperating" with the DOJ in their investigation. Assuming it is still ongoing.

Dear sir or miss: I have recently been imprisoned on false charges. I have access to vast funds but am constrained by my current circumstances. If you would be kind enough to help me by sharing your bank account number, I will be overjoyed to share my funds with you.

Despite the campaign finance charges being dropped, I can see him getting Epstein'ed or Arkansas'ed.
[UNDEFINED] A 9-year-old California boy stole his mother’s car and attempted to drive it to school — but instead led an erratic police chase that ended with the child crashing into a cop cruiser. I think I seen dis movie...
An officer first spotted a gray Volkswagen sedan strangely stopped in the middle of an intersection in Oroville at around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The officer instructed the driver to move the car, but the vehicle sped off and took police on a "short and erratic chase that ended in a dirt parking lot" just blocks away from Plumas Avenue Elementary School, CHP said.

Based on the time (9:20 a.m.) the cop first spotted the car, my guess is that the kid either missed the school bus or the mother didn't care enough to make sure the kid made it to school on time.

When I was a kid, you had no hope of catching the bus if you were late. Now it stops at every driveway and you can catch up even if it's two blocks ahead of you.

Imagine one day you discover that your adult daughter, who still lives with you, wants to be euthanised. As far as you are aware, she is healthy. She suffers from autism and ADHD, but no physical illnesses or disabilities that you know of. You know that she has faced many difficulties in her life, but you love her and desperately want to prevent her death. You are left fighting against her doctors, who encourage her decision and are perfectly happy to help her go through with this. To make this nightmare even worse, no one will even tell you why your daughter has been approved to die.
This is the awful reality facing one father in Alberta, Canada. A judge issued a ruling this week that clears the way for a 27-year-old woman, known to the court only as MV, to be accepted into Canada’s medical assistance in dying (MAID) programme. Despite the attempts by her father – known as WV – to prevent this, there was really very little that could have been done. Under Canadian law, the court had no choice but to allow his daughter to be killed. According to the twisted logic of assisted-dying campaigners, this is the ‘compassionate’ option.

Imagine Jesus saying "You were a very, very flawed person. But you didn't believe in abortion or euthanasia. Please step this way to your mansion which I have built for you..."
