[AFRICANEWS] Four French civil servants, intelligence agents according to a Burkinabè source, and computer maintenance technicians according to a French diplomatic source, were arrested in Ouagadougou at the beginning of December, we learned Tuesday evening, in a context of very tense relations between Burkina Faso ...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president used to be Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and was chased out in 2014. Now it's the usual army officer type guy, Captain Ibrahim Traore, running things, who's just doing a bang-up job unless he's already been deposed... and La Belle France.
"We are in the process of verifying the real field work of four Frenchies presented as agents of the DGSE (External Intelligence, editor's note). They are currently before Sherlocks," said the Burkinabè source.
For its part, a French diplomatic source declared to AFP that "on December 1, four French officials, holders of diplomatic passports and visas, were arrested in Ouagadougou by the Burkinabè police. These four technicians were in Burkina Faso to carry out a computer maintenance operation for the benefit of the French embassy".
"On December 14, they were indicted and transferred to the Ouagadougou detention and correction center", she continued. The same source adds that "the French consulate general was able to exercise consular protection and visit them".
"The French government takes note of the ongoing legal proceedings, but rejects accusations that these technicians were sent to Burkina Faso for reasons other than their computer maintenance work. He requests their return to La Belle France without delay", concludes this diplomatic source.
According to a European diplomatic source, these French people "are known to their Burkinabe colleagues". The magazine Jeune Afrique wrote on Tuesday that the four men are accused of "espionage", the Burkinabe source also indicated."The brother country of Togo is helping to find a solution".
[AFRICANEWS] Justice Joy Uwanna, a distinguished high court judge in Nigeria, was kidnapped while returning from a court session on Monday night in southern Akwa Ibom state.
The incident occurred along Uyo-Okoboin in Oron town, where unidentified button men ambushed the judge's vehicle.
Tragically, the assailants not only kidnapped Justice Uwanna but also fatally shot her police guard during the abduction. The incident unfolded as the button men opened fire, targeting the judge's security detail before swiftly taking Justice Uwanna and her driver away.
The police spokesperson in Akwa Ibom state, Odiko Macdon, termed the incident as "unfortunate" and confirmed that security forces are actively investigating the matter.
As of now, no group has grabbed credit for the abduction. However, there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly... it's noteworthy that criminal gangs frequently engage in abductions for ransom in certain regions of Nigeria.
The abduction of Justice Joy Uwanna highlights the ongoing security challenges in the country, prompting intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to address and prevent such incidents.
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] At least nine prisoners detained on charges related to terrorist acts escaped on Tuesday from Ataq Central Prison in Shabwah province, eastern Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... , local sources said.
According to the sources, the prisoners who had escaped were from al-Said District, which is one of the most prominent centers of the conflict between factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition and pro-UAE factions, Islah factions, and al-Qaeda.
The sources pointed out that the leaders of the local authority in Shabwah exchanged accusations about what is believed to be a planned operation behind the prisoners’ escape.
The escape of the nine prisoners comes days after units from the pro-Saudi, Deir al-Watan forces were sent to Shabwah province.
It should be noted that in the coalition-held areas, especially Hadhramaut governorate, several takfiri ...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed... s were smuggled out from a prison under the control of pro-coalition authorities in southern and eastern Yemen.

[REGNUM] On December 18, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the formation of a multinational initiative to “jointly address security challenges in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden ,” calling the actions of the Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement “an international problem requiring collective action.”
According to the Pentagon chief, the initiative, called Operation Prosperity Guardian, along with the United States, will initially involve Bahrain, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles and France.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The nationwide swatting spree that targeted nearly 200 Jewish institutions over the weekend is said to have been part of a coordinated effort from a group based outside of the US, according to the FBI.
Yes, but where? The article doesn’t say.
In a confidential memo to partner law enforcement agencies, Assistant FBI Director Cathy Milhoan said: 'At this time, based on similar language and specific email tradecraft used, it appears the perpetrators of these threats are connected. Additionally, these threats appear to be originating from outside of the United States.'
Between Friday and Saturday, 199 swatting incidents and false bomb threats were tracked by the Secure Community Network, a non-profit that informs US Jewish institutions of security and safety.
Swatting is when people make prank calls to fool emergency services of false incidents.
Since the October 7 Hamas attack and the ensuing war, these incidents have drastically risen.
On Monday, the non-profit organization reported that there were 93 swatting incidents in California, 62 in Arizona, 15 in Connecticut, five in Colorado and four in Washington the past 24 hours. Pennsylvania and Mississippi also received false threats this past weekend, while Alabama had six reported on Saturday alone.
The SCN said that compared to this time last year, they have logged more than 449 swatting incidents. These occurrences have happened 541 percent more than they did in 2022.
'We continue to work in coordination with law enforcement and Jewish security partners to respond to incidents & ensure Jewish communities across North America have the tools and guidance to respond appropriately,' SCN said in a post on X.
The Boulder Police Department said that the FBI would investigate the situation and Rabbi Greene said that they have since hired a security guard for the weekend services and school times.
My synagogue in Cincinnati has hired off-duty police officers during Hebrew school and services since shortly after 9/11. The local Jewish community center, which shares the building, built a very nice little police satellite office off the front entrance to the building, manned whenever the building is open.

--religious events(weekly services)
--routine community gatherings
...schools
...concerts
...seasonal holiday consumers

--grocery, gas, school pickups
Phase II:
-strategic scoring of event response likelyhoods
--mapping response routes
--mapping response tactics
--inventory of emergency response vehicles
--identifying response intermediate cluster points of ingress and egress for emergency services
- practice timing of response teams
Phase III:
-stress the responders
--overload vehicle scheduling
--introduce asymmetric impediments
---crowd control

[GEO.TV] The Rawalpindi police have rebutted the reports of firing on an accountability court's Judge Muhammad Bashir's car, minutes after the news of a gun attack on the jurist in Rawalpindi emerged.
Earlier, Geo News reported citing police sources that the jurist survived a gun attack on his vehicle in Rawalpindi.
Sources said that an armed assailant opened fire on the judge's car near PAF Chowk, an area in the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station, when he was driving home after a hearing in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.
They said that the suspect, identified as Shayan Zulfiqar, who is a resident of Haley Street, was arrested on the spot and the weapon of crime was also recovered.
Police spokesperson later said that the firing was not targeted at Judge Bashir, but the suspect was forcing "his relatives" to go with him and he opened fire in the air upon their resistance. The jurist's car had just passed from the place of incident moments before the firing.
It may be noted that the judge is presiding over hearings of major cases that require in-camera proceedings at Adiala jail due to security concerns. Before the incident, he had conducted the hearing of the £190 million case against former prime minister Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders... .
[Breitbart] The Palestinian Hamas terrorist group has cut off negotiations with Israel, demanding a lull in fighting before any more talks. Israel, which is closing in on Hamas leaders in Gaza, refused that demand.
The Times of Israel reported:
A Hamas statement claims that it will not agree to free any more hostages or even negotiate over them until the end of fighting.
The stance, which has been trotted out by the terror group before, comes amid intense talks for a possible deal that would see hostages released in exchange for Palestinian inmates in Israeli prison. The group already claims it won’t accept a temporary truce.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that Israel would continue the war to "eliminate" Hamas even if negotiations continued.
Pressure for talks rose last weekend, after the tragic deaths of three Israeli hostages who managed to escape their Hamas captors. Israeli soldiers mistook them from afar for terrorists.
Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, another Iranian-backed group, sought to exploit the moment to press publicly for a permanent ceasefire as a condition of negotiations.
The Israeli public, however, remains committed to the fight, even though there is also support for talks to free the hostages.
Palestinian rocket attacks against Israel continue: a large salvo was fired from a Hamas-controlled area of central Gaza toward Tel Aviv and central Israel on Thursday, but caused no injuries.

[Ynet] The IDF Armored Corps’ 401st Brigade alongside the Air Force’s Shaldag Commando Unit has located the stronghold of Hamas’ leaders in the Gaza Strip, including the terror organization’s main headquarters.
Inside the underground facility, forces found proof that Hamas’ military wing commander Mohammed Deif stayed inside the command center for a time after locating an elevator shaft leading to his office, alongside a wheelchair likely to have been used by him after injuries from IDF attempts to kill him.
"After securing the area, a ’sweep and clear’ operation revealed the underground terrorist city which is part of Hamas’ tunnel system and includes a strategic tunnel route connected to other significant underground infrastructure in the Gaza Strip," the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement.
"Tunnel shafts leading to the network of tunnels are located in the residences and offices of senior officials and allow for a covert descent through designated elevators and stairs. This enabled Hamas operatives to both escape and remain in hideouts for extended periods. The underground tunnel network includes blast doors and hideouts. In some cases, food products, water and electrical infrastructure were found that allowed for prolonged stays," the statement added.
The depth of Hamas’ main underground offices and ministries reached the limit of their digging capabilities, meaning up to the edge of the water table – some 50 meters to 60 meters below ground level. The complex included discussion rooms, recreation halls and a Cabinet meeting room.
The IDF is preparing to demolish the massive facility systematically, but no one in Israel can guarantee that this expansive terrorist base, like others in the Gaza Strip, won’t be rebuilt after the war ends. Regular Morlocks
According to the IDF, the tunnel network featured blast doors and living quarters, adding that in some cases troops operating inside the tunnels found stores of food and water left behind, indicating plans to stay hidden in the underground sites for long periods. The underground network also allowed the top Hamas ...the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,... members to flee to other areas of the Strip as Israel launched its ground offensive against the terror group.
In a statement Wednesday, the army described the complex as an "underground terror city" with a "strategic tunnel route connected to other significant underground infrastructure in the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip."
The tunnels under Paleostine Square, along with other Hamas infrastructure in the adjacent buildings, underline the deep entanglement of the group’s terror activities within the civilian fabric of Gaza.
"Regular homes of civilians, that people seemingly live in the day-to-day, but in reality, they are either a hideout apartment for terrorists, or directly underneath the building, they have meeting rooms, where all of Hamas’s officials met," Aharon said.
"They built the underground [infrastructure] over decades, which is aimed at protecting themselves, the seniors, not the civilians, not even the soldiers in this case — their holy warriors — but their officials," Aharon said.
Aharon said the tunnels’ electricity for lighting, air circulation, and communications was largely powered by solar panels from nearby buildings, which Hamas siphoned off from local civilians, further taking advantage of the population. The terror group also uses generators, and has power accumulators to be able to stay hidden in the underground passages for long periods, he said.

Sounds like a pretty good place for and underground nuclear test.

Sure.
The access tunnels, blast chambers and electricity for the sensors and triggers are all there.
Tough to get sizable devices down lifts and around corners. Controlled demolition via conventional explosives would work.
Alternatively, exploit the captured infrastructure.

[GEO.TV] The Hamas Palestine government's media office in the Gaza Strip Wednesday said that at least 20,000 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory since the war with Israel began.
A number more or less imaginary — there is no way to be sure, since an unknown number of that unknown number are buried under the rubble. Israel isn’t bothering to fight the question, beyond noting that the numbers put out by the Hamas government are unconfirmed.
The statement highlighted that the deceased included around 8,000 children and 6,200 women.

[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Ships with the Israeli flag will not be allowed to dock in Malaysia with immediate effect, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced on Wednesday.
Any vessels en route to Israel will also be banned from loading cargo at Malaysian ports.
"These restrictions are a response to Israel’s actions that ignore basic humanitarian principles and violate international law through continuous massacres and atrocities against the Paleostinians," said Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister of Malaysia.
He said the government is confident that the decisions will not affect Malaysian trade activities.
In addition, Anwar said the government decided to block the Israeli-based shipping company, ZIM, from docking at any port in the country with immediate effect.
"For the record, the Cabinet began permitting ships owned by this company to dock in Malaysia in 2002. In 2005, the Cabinet at that time granted permission for those ships to land in Malaysia. However, there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... the current government has decided to revoke all previous Cabinet decisions," he added.
