Her headdress looks like it was made from spare seagull feathers. More like a whirligig than traditional Native American ceremonial garb. The KC kid’s one was better. Maybe she is ticked at the possibility that one day this picture might trigger her exhumation for DNA research.

[SUDANTRIBUNE] RIDO, an organization dedicated to monitoring and documenting violence against women in South Darfur state, has uncovered new cases of rape perpetrated by Rapid Support Forces (RSF) soldiers against 56 girls.
Salma John, Director of the RIDO Organization, disclosed to Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans... Tribune that RSF members had raped 56 girls, including five minors and three male children, with one resulting in death.
John emphasized the severe challenges faced by women in South Darfur, including widespread rape and violence stemming from their affiliation with non-Arab tribes. Additionally, service providers face significant hurdles in reaching survivors due to disrupted communication networks, internet outages, and a lack of funding.
She further revealed that most of the raped women had sought treatment in Uganda but encountered difficulties in finding specialized psychological support due to a shortage of psychiatrists in Kampala.
The organization is currently conducting a 16-day campaign against gender-based violence, which commenced on November 25 and will continue until December 10.
In a concerning post on X Sunday, Hala Alkarib, SIHA regional director, revealed that they have received corroborated reports from various communities around Khartoum indicating that RSF elements are systematically targeting and violating families of Christian descent, who are primarily from the Nuba Mountains region.
In a statement issued last September, Salima Ishaq, Director of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women and Children, reported that the number of girls subjected to rape and sexual violence since the outbreak of the conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF had climbed to approximately 136 cases in Khartoum, and 46 in Darfur.

"John emphasized the severe challenges faced by women in South Darfur, including widespread rape and violence stemming from their affiliation with non-Arab tribes."
And here you have in once sentence the crux of the fighting that is going on now in the Sudan, and especially in Darfur. The non-Arab tribes (especially the Fur and Zaghawa women) have suffered decades of mistreatment fostered by the Arab military leadership housed in Khartoum. The present battle in the Sudan, though much of it is taking place in Khartoum/Omdurman, is for the control of Darfur. Should the RSF be successful a new nation rid of its Arab inhabitants will be created with its capital in El Fasher. There are those that say it cannot be done; they are the same sort that said the battle for an independent South Sudan could never be won.
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Forces loyal to the Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. Liberation Movement (SLM), led by Abdel Wahid Nur, have taken control of a vast Rapid Support Forces (RSF) camp in South Darfur state following the RSF’s withdrawal towards the state capital, Nyala.
Military sources revealed to Sudan Tribune on Sunday that "SLM forces seized an RSF camp in the Deribat area of South Darfur after the RSF abruptly retreated to the state headquarters, Nyala."
Years ago, the RSF established a substantial camp in Deribat, which had previously served as one of the holdout movement’s strongholds before it was forced to withdraw towards Jebel Marra.
The SLM’s recapture of the camp is part of their ongoing efforts to expand their presence across South, Central, and North Darfur states, capitalizing on the security vacuum created by the ongoing conflict between the army and the RSF, which erupted on April 15, 2022.
Late last month, the SLM deployed a significant force led by the movement’s army chief of staff, reaching El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, to protect displacement camps against a potential attack by the RSF on Darfur’s historic capital.
The RSF’s capture of four out of five Darfur states compelled several factions to reevaluate their neutral stance in the army-paramilitary group conflict, as they apprehended that this shift could establish a new regional paradigm.

This reporting is very questionable. Abdel Wahid Nur is an ethnic Fur who for years has led the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) in its fight against the terrible repression carried out in Darfur by Khartoum's Arab-led military. As most Fur support the RSF, one wonders if the RFS did not turn over willingly the area of South Darfur to the SLM. In fact, the SLM's apparent retreat to Nyala (and the Sudan Tribune is not to be trusteed) may be prologue to the final battle for that city.

I shall await events with more interest than before your explanation, Jerens Black9355. You’ve complained about the Sudan Tribune’s trustworthiness as a source before, if I recall correctly. Are you aware of a better primary source for the area in English that we could use?

I am sorry, I cannot. Reporting, from the moment the Islamists seized power in 1989 to the present time reporting on the Sudan has been execrable. The problem exists that reporters who visit the Sudan, or Sudanese reporters, always seem to interview someone with a bone to pick. If you can find reporting by Alex de Waal, you will generally find good, honest stuff.

To make my point, days after the Islamist military seized power in June 1989 US Ambassador Anderson reported to Washington that the Junta was "people we can live with." The fact that the Sudanese strong-man's retinue was composed of nasty Islamist SOBs, and the internal reporting that such was the case, was held back and not delivered to the State Department for seven months. And so it goes with reporting -- regardless of source -- on events in the Sudan.
EXCLUSIVE: Boko Haram Arms Supplier Escapes From Nigerian Military Prison In Borno State, Leaves With AK-47 Rifle, Hand Grenades | Sahara Reporters https://t.co/x7A7Jll2qHpic.twitter.com/RKA3wUUGoH
Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... arms supplier and detained Nigerian soldier, Abba Gesh, has beat feet from the Joint Investigation Centre (JIC), a military prison located at Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, SaharaReporters can report.
SaharaReporters learnt that the prison, over the decade, has been known for detaining hundreds of suspected and confirmed Boko Haram bandidosLions of Islam arrested during the ongoing insurgency in the Northern part of the country.
Though SaharaReporters could not establish when Gesh beat feet from the facility, security sources revealed he was last sighted on November 26 at Malari, also in Borno State.
Gesh, a member of the Nigerian Army Special Operations Command (NASOC) was earlier in the year arrested for selling ammunition worth millions of Naira to Boko Haram bandidosLions of Islam in Geizua.
"Abba Gesh, a Special Force previously attached to 222 Battalion. He was arrested in the NE for selling ammunition to BHTs in Geizua. But he escaped recently from JIC Maiduguri custody," an internal memo by the military obtained by SaharaReporters read.
"He was sighted on November 26, 2023, at Malari near HQ 222 Bn. He was seen with AK-47 rifle and about 4 hand grenades. His intention is to kidnap locals for ransom.
"Meanwhile, ...back at the shouting match, Bart was wondering if fisticuffs would be appropriate at this point... I have been directed to facilitate fmns/units, military intelligence, MPs to brief their tps at CP on the need to apprehend and arrest him by any means if seen loitering within AOR."
In 2022, the immediate past Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Leo Irabor condemned the increase in cases of military personnel aiding and abetting terrorists, bandidos, killer herdsmen, and other criminals in the country.
Irabor had in a letter sent to all commanders of various operations, which was exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, asked them to sensitise their officers to the implication of collaborating with the enemy.
He cited several incidents of soldiers arrested in connection with the activities of Boko Haram and other terrorists, including the arrest of a soldier who conspired with a known terrorist informant Babagana Kura in Bama, Borno.
"Recent happenings in various TOOs reveal an increase in cases of aiding and abetting by personnel. This development was revealed in different reports of arrests of military personnel within a short period of time," the letter signed on behalf of the former CDS by one CE Oji had read.
[AFRICANEWS] In a significant development, the regional force of the East African Community (EAC-RF), viewed as ineffective by Kinshasa, has initiated its withdrawal from the Democratic Republic of the Congo ...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material... (DRC) after opting not to renew its mandate. On Sunday morning, a first group of approximately one hundred Kenyan military personnel, part of the multinational force that includes soldiers from Uganda, Burundi, and South Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans... , departed from Goma's airport, the thriving provincial capital of North Kivu, en route to Nairobi.
The aircraft took off shortly after 05:00 local time (03:00 GMT). A spokesperson for the EAC-RF on-site confirmed that the plane was heading to Nairobi, carrying only Kenyan military personnel. However, corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds... detailed information regarding the force's withdrawal plan was not immediately provided.
Kenyan soldiers had commenced arriving in Goma in November 2022, approximately a year after the resurgence of the M23 rebellion in North Kivu. Allegedly supported by Rwanda, the M23 had seized significant portions of the province. At that time, Congolese authorities had invited the EAC to deploy its force to reclaim territories captured by the rebels.
However, corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds... both the local population and the Congolese government swiftly became highly critical of the EAC troops. With the exception of the Burundians, they accused the regional force of coexisting with the rebels rather than compelling them to disarm.
Following an EAC summit held on November 25, the regional organization announced in a statement that the DRC "would not renew the mandate of the regional force beyond December 8, 2023."
The departure of Kenyan soldiers occurs amid ongoing festivities between the M23 and the Congolese army, supported by militias identifying as "patriots." A Kenyan soldier from the regional force had been killed on October 24 by shell fragments.

[RIA] Three commercial ships were attacked four times in 24 hours in the Red Sea, and a US Navy destroyer responded by shooting down three drones, the Pentagon's Central Command said.
Earlier, the Al Jazeera television channel, citing a source in the US Department of Defense, reported that the American destroyer USS Carney was attacked with the help of drones and missiles fired from Yemen.
"On Sunday there were four attacks against three different commercial vessels in the international waters of the southern Red Sea," the report said.
The US Navy destroyer USS Carney allegedly responded to the alarms. It detected a missile attack from territory controlled by Yemen's Houthis, the missile passing in close proximity to the cargo ship Unity Explorer, the command said.
The destroyer then shot down a drone launched from Yemen. The UAV was heading towards the warship, but the Pentagon does not say Carney was its target.
The destroyer shot down another drone while responding to a signal from the same cargo ship, which reported a missile strike and minor damage. Another vessel, Number 9, also reported being hit by a missile fired from Yemen, but there were no casualties or damage.
Later, a third ship, Sophie II, sent a distress signal reporting a missile hit. The destroyer then shot down another drone.
The American ship and its crew, as Central Command assures, were not damaged as a result of the incidents.
The Pentagon claims that the Houthis from Yemen are behind the attacks , but they are allegedly “entirely organized by Iran.” "The United States will consider an appropriate response in full coordination with international allies," the command said, calling the attacks a "direct threat to international trade and maritime security."
The day before, the Houthis announced that they would resume attacks on Israel after the end of the truce in the Gaza Strip.
During the IDF military operation, the Ansar Allah movement announced several times that it was launching rockets at the Israeli city of Eilat. The Houthis also warned of their intention to attack any ships associated with the Jewish state, calling on other countries not to approach them at sea and to recall their crews from them.
On Friday at 8:00 Moscow time, the humanitarian truce between Tel Aviv and Hamas expired . The IDF said that the Palestinian movement violated the operational pause and opened fire on the territory of the Jewish state. Israeli aircraft began to strike enemy targets.
The movement, in turn, held Tel Aviv responsible for the resumption of fighting. They claim that negotiations to extend the truce lasted all night, but the other side refused to consider the proposals.
The American warship USS Carney and several commercial ships were attacked in the Red Sea with drones and missiles fired from Yemen, Al Jazeera reported on December 3, citing a Pentagon source.
“We are aware of reports of attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea, and we will provide information as it becomes available,” the US defense department said.
At the same time, the British maritime security company Ambrey reported that the cargo ship was damaged in a drone attack near the northern Yemeni port of Hodeidah.
As Regnum reported , the American destroyer Mason, which responded to a distress signal sent by the tanker Central Park in the Gulf of Aden, came under a missile attack in the Arabian Sea. This happened on the night of November 27th. According to the US military, the US Navy fired two ballistic missiles towards the ship. Huh?
In addition, on November 19, the Houthis captured the Israeli cargo ship Galaxy Leader in the Gulf of Aden. Later, off the coast of Yemen, pirates attacked the Liberian-flagged tanker Central Park and took control of the ship. There were 22 crew members on board.
Two merchant ships attacked by Yemen's Houthis in the Red Sea have nothing to do with Israel, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said during a regular briefing .
“Today, missiles were launched towards two merchant ships that have no connection with Israel. One ship was damaged very seriously and is in a critical situation,” an IDF spokesman said.
Hagari condemned the actions of the Houthis and expressed the opinion that such incidents jeopardize freedom of navigation in the region. According to him, this attack is related to Iranian influence in the region, which is a global problem.

Yesterday we learned that he is the child of Iranian refugees, was born in France, and converted to Islam in 2015 through an online ISIS supporter. [CornellSun] Pro-Palestinian students occupied Day Hall on Friday, Dec. 1, demanding the University adopt policies against doxxing, a new definition of antisemitism and commit to divestment in companies that support Israel’s military. After speaking to Vice President of Student and Campus Life Ryan Lombardi, their first demand will be addressed, but the others are up in the air, leading to a continuation of the occupation into the night.
Starting at noon, organizers began a “mock trial” for President Martha Pollack outside of Day Hall, accusing her of complicity in “genocide against Palestinian civilians.” The Cornell Coalition for Mutual Liberation — an on-campus group advocating for the Palestinian cause — organized the demonstration.
In an email to the administration, CML demanded protections for pro-Palestine speech, recognition of anti-Zionism as an ideology distinct from antisemitism and revisions to the University’s endowment that divest from companies with “involvement in human rights abuses” in Palestine.
They demanded Cornell work with them to make determinations about environmental, social and governance policy around investments. They also demanded that the University agree to a Wednesday, Dec. 6 meeting between President Martha Pollack, Vice President for University Relations Joel Malina, Provost Michael Kotlikoff, a representative from the Board of Trustees and group liaisons for CML to discuss these policies.
This demonstration comes after several events in support of Palestine over the past week. On Wednesday, Nov. 29, CML held a rally for Palestine and Sudan
...why Sudan, all of a sudden?
outside of Willard Straight Hall, and on Thursday, Nov. 30, advocates staged a die-in on the floor of Duffield Hall.
Die-ins are so much more effective when done outside, where all can see, but the weather is usually cold and wet this time of year.
“TRIAL” OF PRESIDENT POLLACK
Prior to entering Day Hall, demonstrators held signs such as “Disarm the Apartheid,” “Free Palestine” and “Divest Now,” carried large trash bags painted with a money symbol and brought a cardboard cutout of Pollack, placing it on the patio outside Day Hall. Other signs at the event said “DEFENDANT: CORNELL” and “CHARGE: GENOCIDE.”
So clever.
A speaker who said they were “prosecuting” Pollack defined genocide next to the cutout, citing examples of actions by Israel that they said constituted “war crimes.”
Following the opening remarks — which “found” Israel guilty of genocide and apartheid,
...of course they did. Otherwise why bother?
the demonstrators began chanting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
The “prosecution” then condemned Cornell Tech for its collaboration with the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and Cornell’s investment in defense company Raytheon — which they said provides missiles to the Israel Defense Forces. They also condemned the University’s investments in Tata Motors
...an Indian multi-national...
and Hewlett Packard.
Huh?
The Sun was not able to immediately verify whether the University invests in Raytheon, Tata Motors or Hewlett Packard.
Do universities invest, or do they just accept donations?
The prosecutor then “charged” Cornell with complicity in what they called the genocide, forcible deportation
...except the Gazans are still stuck in Gaza, however much they would like to be away from the destruction brought on by their elected government warring againt Israel. Because the entire Moslem world refuses to take them en masse, and anyway Egypt is keeping their border tightly closed to native Gazans...
and apartheid of Palestinians,
...Israel has mixed communities, and 20% of citizens are Arab. It’s the Palestinians of both the West Bank and Gaza who forbid Jews to live there...
as well as the targeting of civilians and intentional deprivation of objects necessary for survival, which they deemed “war crimes.”
Now they’re just making stuff up.
By 12:30 p.m., the crowd had swelled to roughly 60 demonstrators,
Golly.
who demanded Cornell’s “divestment from genocide and apartheid.”
OCCUPATION OF DAY HALL
Approximately 40 students entered Day Hall,
...such a crowd...
and at around 2:15 p.m., met with Vice President of Student and Campus Life Ryan Lombardi downstairs to discuss their demands.
In a letter to Pollack from Nov. 9 posted to their Instagram account, CML describes itself as a “coalition representing many diasporic and marginalized populations at Cornell.”
...except for the Jews, of course. Except the activist ones, who know to sit down and shut up when someone in a better victim class speaks...
Some speeches held outside of Day Hall before the onset of the occupation sought to contextualize the Israel-Hamas war and Palestinian movement within larger global trends.
One Malaysian speaker spoke about the connection between fighting in solidarity in Palestine with global movements against colonialism.
Except the so-called Palestinians are the actual colonists in this case, most of them having arrived to work for the Jews during the Great Depression or the years leading up to Israeli independence. Ironic, no?
Another speaker compared the occupation of Day Hall for Palestine with the Day Hall occupation from May 11 to May 12, 2023, in which Starbucks unionization activists staged a takeover in an effort to oust Starbucks products from Cornell’s campus.
Clearly puffing up their resumés for the day they graduate and look for jobs with professional “activist” groups.

[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet security agency says the military has arrested a group of Paleostinian suspects who allegedly attacked Israeli vehicles on the Route 5 highway in the West Bank two weeks ago.
According to the Shin Bet, on November 19, the bandidosmurderous Moslems placed improvised spike strips on the highway, near the town of Zawiya, and shot up Israeli cars.
Several vehicles were damaged by the spikes and the gunfire, according to the Shin Bet.
"Immediately after the attack, forces worked to locate the terrorists, and arrested suspects involved in the attack based on intelligence information from the Shin Bet, and transferred them for further interrogation," the agency says.
Another member of the cell was detained yesterday by IDF forces, and a weapon used in the attack was seized, the Shin Bet says.
[IsraelTimes] A 19-year-old man from Taibe was arrested and charged with a number of serious security and terror offenses, police and the Shin Bet say in a joint statement.
The statement says Mahmoud Rafik Abd al-Rahim Massarwa was charged today for a series of serious security offenses, including aiding the enemy in war, membership in a terrorist organization, training for terror purposes, using a weapon for terrorism, aggravated sabotage as an act of terror, and using a firearm.
Security officials say that the suspect received Israeli citizenship under family unification rights, and took advantage of his freedom of movement in order to carry out terror activities with a cell in the Nur Shams refugee camp near Tulkarm in the West Bank.

RE #1 and 2.
The way it has been presented where I live is the truce was over and Hamas took the first shot. As far as North Gaza, I hope they have cleared out Hamas, but I doubt it.
The IDF says Haitham Hawajri was responsible for sending Hamas terrorists into Israel during the October 7 massacre, and he led the fighting against troops in Gaza City’s Shati camp during the ground offensive.
According to the IDF, Hawajri, and his battalion, were responsible for securing Gaza City’s Shifa Hospital, where the terror group is believed to have a base of operations underneath.
Is a Hamas battalion commander like an emir with about half a dozen henchmen to do his bidding? The formerly living commander of the Shejaiya battalion had all of ten in his.
[Jpost] The IDF's special joint operations unit within the air force has carried out over 10,000 airstrikes throughout the IDF's counter-invasion of Gaza.
This unit is unique because it is trained from the start to work in direct cooperation with ground forces as they proceed forward.
A NEW LEVEL OF COORDINATION
Although the IDF has tried to make this kind of joint operating activity between air and land forces standard practice in the current war, for most of military history in which air forces existed, there was nowhere near this level of coordination.
In addition, the amount to which air forces of democracies could support ground forces advancing in real-time in dense urban settings was minimal both because of the concern of hitting "enemy" civilians and the concern of accidentally hitting friendly forces, given the blunt power of munitions dropped by aircraft. The IDF special joint operations unit within the Air Force has flipped all of these problems using a mix of unique training with ground forces long before the war, along with using advanced precision munitions.
These new trends have allowed the special unit - which at first was mostly made of helicopters, but over time has added drones and even some other kinds of aircraft - to strike within 150 meters of advancing IDF forces, most often without hitting civilians or IDF forces.
A senior IDF official told three specific stories where the elite unit saved IDF forces who would have taken larger or larger losses without its intervention.
In one case, battalion 551 was pinned down by Hamas's anti-tank missiles and sniper units while operating in Beit Hanoun of northern Gaza.
Regardless of their efforts, the IDF infantry could not even get near the Hamas positions without being gunned down.
A short time after being warned, the IDF special unit struck from the air and removed the Hamas threat.
TRAINED TO REMOVE THE THREAT
In another instance, Unit 401 was being ambushed in Jabaliya, another northern Gaza neighborhood by a complex trap of anti-tank missiles and other Hamas forces.
Further, in this case, the IDF already had wounded soldiers and it was unclear whether there would even be a safe way to evacuate them.
In one hour, the Joint Special Forces Air Force unit attacked Hamas several times, ended the ambush, and succeeded in spiriting off the wounded IDF soldiers.
In yet another incident, IDF Golani forces were being ambushed and having trouble extracting themselves.
Once again, the special unit carried out several attacks against Hamas within a very short time, helping the Golani forces deal with the situation.
Questioned if these tactics could work in southern Gaza, where there are even more Palestinian civilians than before, and the urban setting may be even more dense, a senior IDF official said that the same tactics used in northern Gaza should work in southern Gaza.
He said that years of training and drilling together had made his special unit ready for the diverse challenges currently being presented.
IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi said that a large component of IDF victory in Gaza would be the strong joint work of the different arms of the Israeli military.

It says that around 500 of them have already been destroyed, either by setting off large amounts of explosives inside, or by sealing them.
According to the IDF, many of the tunnels connect between Hamas ...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,... "strategic assets."
The IDF says it has also destroyed hundreds of kilometers’ worth of tunnels, in addition to the shafts.
"The shafts were located in civilian areas, and many of them were located near or inside educational institutions, kindergartens, mosques, and playgrounds," the IDF says.
In some of the tunnels, IDF troops found Hamas weaponry.
"These findings are further proof of the cynical use that the Hamas terror organization makes of the civilian population as a human shield, and as a cover for its terror activity," the IDF adds.

Death toll from explosion in southern Philippines rises to 11 Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The death toll from an explosion at a university gym in the southern Philippines has risen to 11. The Manila Times reported this on December 3 .
“At least 11 people have been confirmed dead. About 46 people were hospitalized,” the publication said.
An explosion at the Mindanao State University gymnasium in Marawi occurred during Sunday morning mass. It was initially reported that at least three people were killed and seven were injured. It is being established what type of explosive device was detonated. Later, militants from the Islamic State organization (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Earlier, IA Regnum reported that Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called the explosion at the university a terrorist attack committed by foreign terrorists.
He expressed condolences to the relatives of the victims, calling on residents of the country to remain calm and pray for the victims of the terrorist attack and their families.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
