[jonathonturley.org] As Stuart Smiley said on SNL’s Daily Affirmation, "De Nile ain’t just a river in Egypt." Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman,
...former federal prosecutor, counsel for House Democrats during the first Trump impeachment, first term Congressman, lefty...
a member of the House Weaponization of Government committee,
...the Democrats are for it...
caused yet another firestorm of controversy in declaring that the Hunter laptop may be a fake.
That’s right. Despite media, American intelligence, and even other Democrats acknowledging the authenticity of the laptop, Goldman is still spreading denials . . . at a hearing on the weaponization of disinformation policies.
Goldman has previously been criticized for making the case against President Joe Biden in disastrous efforts to discredit whistleblowers.
As in past hearings, the Democrats opposed witnesses who tried to detail the growing evidence of a government-directed censorship system. Members like Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) continued to deny that there was any evidence of such censorship after spending years opposing the investigation of the program. Even with thousands of pages of evidence and a federal judge finding an "Orwellian" censorship system, Plaskett and her colleagues simply denied that such evidence exists.
However, it was Goldman who stole the show in an exchange with journalist Michael Shellenberger. Shellenberger referenced the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story before the election, a decision that Twitter and other companies now admit was wrong.
However, truth has never been a particularly appealing option for politicians, particularly when it must come with an acknowledgment of past culpability in spreading disinformation.
Recently, we discussed how Leon Panetta also doubled down recently on the claim that the laptop may still be Russian disinformation.
Goldman also opted for denial and distraction over honesty and transparency.
He told Shellenberger: "You’ve talked about the Hunter Biden laptop, and how the FBI knew it existed. You are aware, of course, that the laptop, so to speak, ... that was published in the New York Post, was actually a hard drive that the New York Post admitted here was not authenticated as real...It was not the laptop the FBI had. You’re aware of that right?"
Shellenberger responded: "It was the same contents."

I would not be surprised if the laptop currently claimed to be Hunter’s is a fake- FIB has had plenty of time time to create it and destroy the real one.
My apologies, dear Reader. This was meant to be linked to yesterday’s Bloid, but I stacked the two articles together and set them for today, breaking the link.
[NYPOST] The mother of the hulking Florida teen who beat his female teacher unconscious over a Nintendo Switch video game claimed prison time would be a "death sentence ...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead... " for her convicted son.
Leanne Depa pleaded for leniency for the now-18-year-old Brendan Depa, who faces up to 30 years behind bars for slamming Matanzas High School paraprofessional Joan Naydich to the floor before kicking and punching her in the back and head more than a dozen times.
In her first public appearance since the February beatdown, the grieving mother Wednesday begged Naydich to request that the 6-foot-6 teenager be handed a lighter punishment.
"I am so sorry for what my son did and nobody should ever have to go through that," Leanna Depa said on an appearance on NewsNation’s "Banfield" through tears.
"But at the same time, please consider that my son has had a hard life and he’s gone through so much trauma in his life. He has autism. Please show mercy to him."
Brendan Depa pleaded guilty last month to beating Naydich over the video game when he was just 17, leaving her with five broken ribs, hearing loss and what she claims are ongoing cognitive problems.
The disturbing incident — and teachers’ futile attempts to stop the attack — was captured on the school’s surveillance footage.

Always the sob stories. You telling me there aren't others out there who've experienced the same challenges in life and choose not to pummel someone nearly to death? It's always the same. Demand to be treated equal before the law, but if convicted use every excuse you can find why you should not be punished equally.

Eventually, as they move down the scale, autistic people can be triggered to violent tantrums, or even an attack when what they expect, a plan, or an unexpected difference in their surroundings occurs. I've looked after a kid like that.
So, one might say this kid couldn't help himself, he'll never be able to help himself. Remains a danger unless carefully managed.

In the article, the adoptive mother says she never even thought her son belonged in a mainstream public school setting. While there was maybe more she could have done to prevent that exact situation, the gummint school industrial complex probably would have fought her tooth and nail with your tax dollars.

It wasn't that he flipped; it was the extended hip hop all star style in his size 15s.
Question: why was he on a video game in school anyways? Is it policy that student can dink around on devices while in session, or did everyone know that he was violent and let him do what he wants?

Question: why was he on a video game in school anyways?
He wasn’t supposed to be. But the classroom teacher had never taught before, according to the boy’s mother, and apparently never got around to reading the individual education plan written out for how to handle him. Ms Naydich wasn’t actually involved in the interaction, she just happened to be within reach when he needed something to hit.
Skidmark’s Daily Mail link gives all the background.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] On Friday, an Illinois appeals court upheld disgraced actor Jussie Smollett ...Cable TV actor whose primary talents seemed to be being black and being homosexual. In a bid for national attention, he paid a pair of Nigerian brothers to rough him up a little so he could claim that two large, white, MAGA hat-wearing men had shouted This is MAGA country! while thumping him at 2:30am on a bitter cold night in Chicago and throwing bleach on him, presumably to lighten him up. The story quickly unraveled, and he became a laughingstock and the poster boy for pretend victimization and attention whoredom... 's conviction for staging a hate crime attack against himself. He was found guilty of wasting police time, among other things.
According to TMZ, the three-panel court ruled 2-1 in favor of upholding the conviction.
Smollett was convicted in 2021 and spent just 6 days in Cook County jail before being released while appealing the conviction. With the conviction being upheld, the actor will return to finish out his 150-day sentence.
Smollett’s team could decide to appeal the case to the Illinois Supreme Court, which could then decide whether or not to hear the case.
According to The Messenger, Justice David Navarro wrote that under Illinois law, the 2019 agreement reached with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office "is not a final disposition of the case, and will not bar another prosecution for the same offense."
Smollett was found guilty of five of six charges of disorderly conduct after a two-week trial in late 2021. Smollett claimed that he had been the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... , in which he said MAGA hat-wearing white men poured bleach on him, used a rope fashioned into a noose, and hurled racist and homophobic insults at him.
Police were able to discover the identity of his alleged attackers by tracking information on who ordered the Uber that dropped them off.
Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo were identified as suspects, and were arrested when they returned from a trip to Nigeria.
The prosecution has during the trial stated that Smollett hired the Osundairo brothers to stage the attack.
Surveillance footage captured Smollett and the brothers going through a dry run of the attack in the days prior.
In September, attorneys for Smollett requested that the conviction be dismissed, claiming that the actor’s Fifth Amendment rights had been violated.
The actor’s claims were supported by many, including Vice President Kamala Harris, who wrote, "Jussie Smollett s one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery.
"This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate."

So why only 150 days for filing a false Police report and the harm he caused?

[APNEWS] Lawyer Isabel Lazo’s jobs are being systematically canceled by Nicaragua’s increasingly repressive government.
Lazo worked at a university before the government of President Daniel Ortega closed it. She now is employed at a nongovernmental organization that she fears will soon be shuttered too.
Nicaragua’s poisonous mix of economic decline and repression has led to about half of the country’s population of 6.2 million saying they want to leave their homeland, according to a new study, and 23% saying they had contemplated the possibility deeply enough to consider themselves "very prepared" to emigrate.
"A large proportion of them have already taken concrete steps to try to get out," said Elizabeth Zechmeister, the director of the AmericasBarometer study "The Pulse of Democracy in the Americas."

[AP] Russian security forces raided gay clubs and bars across Moscow Friday night, less than 48 hours after the country’s top court banned what it called the "global LGBTQ+ movement" as an extremist organization.
Police searched venues across the Russian capital, including a nightclub, a male sauna, and a bar that hosted LGBTQ+ parties, under the pretext of a drug raid, local media reported.
Eyewitnesses told journalists that clubgoers’ documents were checked and photographed by the security services. They also said that managers had been able to warn patrons before police arrived.
The raids follow a decision by Russia’s Supreme Court to label the country’s LGBTQ+ "movement" as an extremist organization.
The ruling, which was made in response to a lawsuit filed by the Justice Ministry, is the latest step in a decadelong crackdown on LGBTQ+ rights under President Vladimir Putin, who has emphasized "traditional family values" during his 24 years in power.
Activists have noted the lawsuit was lodged against a movement that is not an official entity, and that under its broad and vague definition authorities could crack down on any individuals or groups deemed to be part of it.

[The Hill via Gateway] The liberal propaganda newspaper the Washington Post is laying off hundreds of employees due to ’economic hardship.’ What a shame.
The paper has seen a drop in digital subscription revenue and is trying to buy out employees to balance the budget.
Perhaps more people would read the paper if they weren’t so obviously Democrat activists pretending to be journalists.
The Hill reports:
Washington Post braces for layoffs
The Washington Post has been able to attain just half of the job reductions it needs to secure before the end of the year, the newspaper’s leadership said this week.
In a note to staff shared with multiple outlets on Tuesday, Post interim CEO Patty Stonesifer said the company had accepted 120 voluntary buyouts as it seeks to cut some 240 jobs across its newsroom.
The Post plans to resort to involuntary layoffs if it does not reach the 240 job threshold by the middle of next month, Stonesifer said.
"These layoffs would offer significantly less generous benefits than the voluntary package and will be consistent with prior layoff packages at The Post," she wrote.
The Post is just the latest in a slew of media organizations that have announced plans to cut back staff and implement other cost-saving measures amid widespread economic hardship in the media business.

Bezos bought the WaPo because it is the default propaganda organ in the DC bubble. Long after the last human staffer is gone, the paper will carry on merrily with AI generated propaganda unhindered by the cost of salaries, benefits or moral qualms.

Looking at it from a Eco Tree hugger standpoint.☺
Based on current paid subscribers, shutting down the WAPO will save about 82,368 tons of paper a year.
At about 21 trees per ton of paper, that works out to about 1,729,728 trees saved a year. (Note: Pines take 7 to 10+ years to grow to ROI harvest size)
Then add in all the fossil fuel, carbon energy and related materials involved for production and distribution of the newspaper itself.
So, the WAPO going Belly-Up would eliminate a major Carbon Footprint on the environment.

And the nice part is no one will notice since the generative chatbots were trained on exactly the sort of drivel WaPo produces now.

Maybe the laid off WaPo staffers can get a cross company transfer and work at an Amazon fulfilment center. I mean, they still need people for Christmas. (snicker)

Bezos bought the WaPo to peddle his brand of political thought and be a major influencer. Along the way the WOKE, the editorial staff co-opted journalism to keep their jobs, despite the screeching decline in even modest efforts at balanced reporting and accuracy. [MAIL] A Five Guys customer's video complaining about the extremely high prices of the items at the fast-food chain has resurfaced on multiple social media platforms.
Michelle Newell posted the clip to TikTok explaining that she and her husband had paid $42 for two cheeseburgers, a side of fries and two milkshakes.
The visibly upset patron told viewers that the couple had visited a Five Guys location on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Newell shared her anger last year - but a check by DailyMail.com Friday evening confirmed it remains just as expensive to buy the same meal.
Newell said she ordered a regular cheeseburger for herself, another cheeseburger with mushrooms for her husband and a side of fries. The couple also got two milkshakes.
She said that 'we're absolutely done' and businesses are 'playing with their customers' .

Checking this mornings value, a silver dollar is worth $19.67. So that is only a couple of 'real' dollars. That 'vanity' burger meal isn't that expensive, its that your money is worthless.

I always liked 5 Guys burgers. Since I can't justify that amount of caloric intake in one sitting, the price is not an issue for me these days.

And if being out $50 is a big hit, like it is with most people, check the prices instead of ding batting when handed the bill.
I see the article is very careful not to mention where.

What, no prices on the menu for these items? I'd be angry if it was ordered via some delivery company and they marked it up with fees, but for these two idiots, no sympathy or empathy.

In-N-Out in Carson City yesterday, Double-Double (two big patties, two slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions served piping hot and paper-wrapped), fries and a Coke, $9.89. Great quality, well paid staff, fastidiously clean locations.
Entirely family owned, over 180 locations in CA and NV, very simple menu, they sell burgers. My understanding is they own every location outright, and buy everything from their own sources exclusively, never leverage new locations.
[Gatway] While campaigning in Iowa this week, GOP Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy met up with an unexpected guest who had important advice for him.
As Gateway Pundit readers know, Ramaswamy has been one of the most forceful critics against the corrupt political establishment and the Deep State. He has consistently called for shutting down the FBI and ending America’s overseas conflicts which defense contractors have made a killing of for years. Moreover, Ramaswamy has proven to be a staunch defender of President Trump during his kangaroo trials.
Not surprisingly, Ramaswamy’s bold truth-telling has caused prominent political individuals and the corporate media to launch vicious attacks against him. It is quite likely he has made enemies at the highest levels of government as well.
Ramaswamy met up with a former FBI agent and his wife during a stop in Indianola on Thursday. The agent was a 22-year veteran who worked in counterterrorism.
The agent and his wife full-heartedly agreed with the millennial candidate that rooting out federal government corruption and shutting down the FBI was of paramount importance.
I met a former FBI agent and his wife on the campaign trail here in Iowa. They agree with me: we need to root out the corruption & shut down the FBI. At the local level, we have police & prosecutors. At the federal level, we have U.S. marshals & the DOJ. An intermediary… pic.twitter.com/gt9153XyaS
[Washington Examiner] The judge presiding over Donald Trump's Georgia racketeering case questioned Friday whether the former president can be tried if he wins the 2024 presidential election.
"If your client does win election in 2024, could he even be tried in 2025?" Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee asked during a hearing over motions from Trump and his co-defendants to dismiss charges in the Georgia 2020 election subversion case.
Trump attorney Steve Sadow, who made his first appearance in the case since Trump's indictment in Georgia in August, said he believes the former president could not be tried until after his four-year term in office if he wins the 2024 election.
"The answer to that is, I believe that under the Supremacy Clause and his duties as president of the United States, this trial would not take place at all until after he left the term of office," Sadow replied.
[ET via ZERO] The next generation of RNA-based injections will contain self-amplifying RNA (saRNA). If the term "self-amplifying RNA" sounds frightening, it should. It likely brings to mind images of scientific experiments run amok.
As discussed in a previous article, "mRNA vaccines" are not made with messenger RNA but with modified RNA (modRNA). These so-called vaccines are actually gene therapy products (GTPs), as modRNA hijacks our cells’ software. We have no possibility at all to gain influence on modRNA (or saRNA) after it has been injected.
What Distinguishes saRNA From modRNA?
The term "self-amplifying" is self-explanatory: saRNA replicates itself repeatedly, which is not natural, as natural mRNA is always (without exception) transcribed from DNA (this is called the "central dogma of molecular biology").
Compared to modRNA, a small amount of saRNA results in an increased amount of produced antigen; one shot of saRNA-based injection may be enough to generate sufficient antibodies against a virus.
Both saRNA and modRNA represent the blueprint for a viral protein, which, after entering our cells, will be produced by our cell machinery (i.e., ribosomes).
Scientists created the genetically modified modRNA sequence by replacing natural uridines with synthetic methyl-pseudouridines to generate a maximum amount of viral antigen. This modification is the basis of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 shots.
Unlike modRNA, saRNA does not contain methyl-pseudouridines, but uridines. Why? Since saRNA self-replicates and synthetic methyl-pseudouridines are not available in our cells, saRNA must rely on natural uridines that exist in our cells. Our cells will produce foreign proteins using their own cell machinery and their own natural resources—the main reason these cells finally become exhausted.
However, this causes a significant problem: mRNA is highly unstable and, therefore, has only a short lifespan—too short for our immune system to produce sufficient antibodies. The solution to this problem is the second difference between modRNA and saRNA.
