[IsraelTimes] Term is twice the federal sentencing guideline; prosecutors asked judge to consider ’tremendous damage’ it caused, and his ’deep-seated hatred’ of Jewish people
Another dangerous person on the autistic spectrum. Did he develop the hatred of Jews from wandering the internet, was he groomed, or did he do this for hire, as some others have been revealed to have done?
A man who pleaded guilty to setting fire to a synagogue in Austin, Texas, in 2021 was sentenced on Wednesday to 10 years in prison. The sentencing of Franklin Sechriest came after a series of victim impact statements from members of Congregation Beth Israel, a Reform synagogue. Normal federal sentencing guidelines call for a five-year prison term, but prosecutors asked US District Judge David Ezra to sentence Sechriest to 10 years due to what they said was the "tremendous damage" he caused and his "deep-seated hatred of persons of the Jewish faith."
Sechriest pleaded guilty in April to two federal charges, including the destruction of religious property, which is classified as a hate crime. He admitted to setting a fire in October 2021 that damaged the sanctuary’s historic front doors and stained glass windows, causing around $250,000 worth of damage.
Investigators found antisemitic and racist material as well as bomb-making supplies in his car, and journals filled with hate speech in which he had written, "I set a synagogue on fire."
A member of the Texas State Guard and a student at Texas State University, Sechriest was ordered to pay $470,000 in restitution to Congregation Beth Israel, and to serve an additional three years of supervised release once he gets out of prison, the US Department of Justice said in a news release.
Cohen said the sentencing carried extra weight coming amid a charged national climate around antisemitism. Law enforcement and Jewish groups have reported a rise in antisemitic incidents, and multiple Jewish institutions have been targeted by vandalism, bomb threats, and other criminal behavior in the wake of Hamas ...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... ’s devastating October 7 attack in Israel and Israel’s subsequent war against the terror group in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... "Across the country right now, all Jewish communities are on heightened alert due to rising antisemitism," Cohen said, adding that the congregation had received a robocall from the Ku Klux Klan mere weeks ago. "Everyone feels the anxiety and questions whether hate can come to our doorstep."
The fire came amid a spate of antisemitic incidents in Austin organized by the Goyim Defense League, a white supremacist group that holds antisemitic rallies and distributes literature promoting hatred of Jews. The group, which the Anti-Defamation League said was responsible for nearly 500 antisemitic incidents in 2022, had hung a banner reading "Vax the Jews" from an Austin bridge in the days before the synagogue fire and streamed a swastika-burning event shortly afterwards. The group’s founder told the Daily Beast that Sechriest was not associated with the Goyim Defense League.
Security footage showed Sechriest’s jeep at the synagogue just before the blaze started, Sherlocks said. He was seen carrying a 5-gallon (19-liter) container and toilet paper toward the sanctuary doors, and running away from the fire.
Sechriest later acknowledged that he targeted the synagogue because of his hatred of Jews, Sherlocks said.
Daniel Wannamaker, Sechriest’s attorney, told JTA that his client had already spent two years in county jail and would get credit for that time. Sechriest has waived his right to an appeal.
"It’s a tough case because it’s a heinous crime," Wannamaker said, adding that he believed Sechriest, who has autism, had been influenced by a hate group online.
In court filings asking for a delay in the hearing, Wannamaker had said that his client suffers from "several mental and emotional conditions" and would need more time to process the significance of his sentencing. The judge denied his request.
"He’s on the spectrum and he just kind of fell into the trap of finding people on the Internet who I think just took advantage of his condition," the attorney told JTA. "They groomed him and had him commit these acts.
Oh? Who are the groomers, when they’re at home? Will he turn state’s evidence and help bring them to justice?
But he’s guilty, he accepted his responsibility, and now we just want him to get help, which he should be able to get in a federal facility that deals with mental health issues."
Not much help, but at least he’ll be separated from his erstwhile groomers.

[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] According to Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, there were over 9,400 encounters with illegal aliens at the US southern border in the last 24 hours.
Of those, over 5,800 were released into the United States, according to CBP sources who spoke to Melugin.
Many of the encounters were in Tucson, Arizona where about 3,000 illegals were caught entering the country.
Tucson, Arizona is being overrun by illegal aliens thanks to Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity.... ’s open borders policies. Border Patrol agents in Arizona are overwhelmed by illegals.
Human smugglers and coyotes working for the Mexican cartels have recently diverted tens of thousands of illegals per month to the Tucson sector because they aren’t deterred by Arizona’s Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs. Apprehensions and narcotics/fentanyl events have spiked in Tucson.
An additional 1,600 illegals were crossing in from various ports of entry.

[SUDANTRIBUNE] Disturbing reports have emerged of the kidnapping and sexual slavery of underage girls in Greater Khartoum, highlighting the harrowing experiences faced by vulnerable civilians in the war-torn region.
On November 24, two underage girls, identified as D (15) and O (13), were forcibly kidnapped by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from their makeshift residence in the Safa neighbourhood of al-Klakla in Khartoum State.
The victims’ mother, already struggling to survive in Khartoum since the onset of the war, witnessed the horrifying incident. The family has been without the father, who ventured to work in the gold mining sector in another state two years ago, leaving them in a perilous situation. Hint: He ain't coming back
Eyewitnesses recount that RSF soldiers stormed the house, seizing the girls under the pretext that they were ’needed.’ The distraught mother, crying and screaming, was powerless as the armed forces threatened and terrorized those present. Despite concerted efforts by a network of family and friends, D and O remain missing days after the abduction.
Emerging patterns suggest that these kidnappings are part of a recurring trend. Sources from Khartoum emergency rooms reveal that maiden of tender yearss, predominantly underage, are being taken to an RSF soldiers’ camp in Wad al-Aqali, where they are forced into sexual slavery for the RSF soldiers in the area.
This incident adds to a series of atrocities and war crimes committed in Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans... , primarily by the RSF. Reports from as early as July indicate a systematic pattern of kidnapping female civilians in Khartoum and Darfur for purposes of sexual slavery, ransom, or sale in markets. Eyewitnesses have reported sightings of women and girls bound and held in cars in Darfur or en route to Darfur.

[KavkazUzel] A total of 104 people were sentenced to administrative arrest, another 94 received fines in cases of riots at the airport in Dagestan.
As the " Caucasian Knot " wrote, by November 25, the district courts of Dagestan had received administrative cases of 515 people, on which protocols were drawn up on offenses during the anti-Semitic action and riots in Makhachkala and the organization of mass presence of citizens in public places. Protocols under the administrative article on participation in an unauthorized action with the creation of interference with transport infrastructure were received by 30 courts in Dagestan. Decisions have been made on some of them; the participants in the riots at the Makhachkala airport were given punishment ranging from compulsory labor to fines and administrative arrest.
On October 29, mass riots occurred at Makhachkala airport due to reports of the arrival of a plane with passengers from Israel. More than 20 people were injured in the riots, including nine police officers.
In connection with the unrest at the Makhachkala airport, the courts of Dagestan considered 242 administrative cases, said the head of the press service of the Supreme Court of Dagestan Zarema Mamaeva. “104 offenders were given administrative arrest from one to 10 days, an administrative fine of 3,000 to 10,000 rubles was imposed on 94, compulsory labor was imposed on 42, and proceedings were terminated against two persons,” Interfax quoted her as saying.
[Gateway] A protester set themselves on fire outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta’s midtown neighborhood, resulting in critical injuries, according to local authorities. Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum detailed the harrowing incident during a press briefing. 1963 Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk Thích Quang Duc copycat effort ?
Authorities have yet to release further details about the protester, withholding the name, age, and gender out of respect for privacy and ongoing investigations, AP reported.
According to Atlanta Fire Chief Roderick Smith, the unidentified individual, who had a Palestinian flag at the scene, reportedly doused themselves in gasoline and set themself on fire as an act of political protest. The security guard who intervened suffered burns on his wrist and leg. Too bad about the Security Guard
Emergency services were dispatched to the midtown neighborhood location where the protest took place. Both the protester and the security guard were rushed to the hospital, with the protester enduring severe burn injuries and remaining in a critical condition.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum, addressing a news conference, clarified that there was no perceived threat to the consular staff and no link to terrorism was evident.
"This appears to be an extreme act of political protest," Schierbaum said.

. [IsraelTimes] Demonstrator at death's door after what police call ’extreme act of political protest’; security guard injured trying to stop act
A protester with a Paleostinian flag was at death's door Friday after self-immolating outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta in what police called an "extreme" political act.
A security guard who tried to stop the self-immolation sustained burn injuries, according to emergency first responders. The guard’s condition was not immediately known.
"We believe that was an act of extreme political protest," said Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum. "A Paleostinian flag was reported at the location and was part of the protest."
The protester arrived at the building that houses the Israeli consulate and several other businesses and used gasoline to self-immolate, Schierbaum said.
Authorities did not release the protester’s name, age or gender.
What a pity.
Atlanta Fire Chief Roderick Smith told journalists that "the security guard noticed that the individual was attempting to set themselves afire" shortly after the protester arrived outside the consulate building around noon (1700 GMT).
The guard "immediately attempted but failed to stop the individual."
"Both individuals sustained burns," Smith said. The guard was burned on his wrist and leg while the protester was at death's door with "100 degree burns, full thickness" to their body, he added. Both were taken to the hospital.
Sounds dreadfully painful. It’s unfortunately too late for him/her/it to apply any life lessons, and none of the others intent on walking that path are ever interested. Still, perhaps Hamas will trade some hostages for... no, of course I am being silly. Oh well. Does he/she/it have good health insurance?

At the point the guard saw fire was going to be involved, he should have gone for the nearest fire extinguisher instead of trying to physically prevent whatever actually happened.

COOL!
Or, the guard could have done what that Congressman did and pulled the fire alarm--with much more legitimacy.

If setting yourself on fire is an 'act of extreme political protest'. does that mean the security guard was violating NoName Orgender's First Amendment rights by trying to douse the flames?
As for the "100 degree burns"...Wow. We learned about 3rd degree burns in the Boy Scouts, basically the meat is cooked. So 100 degree burns must be really really bad, depending on whether the scale is linear or logarithmic.
[GEO.TV] The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Friday issued a list of female turbans who had been involved in different natures of unlawful activities in the province since 2014.
Five a year? Golly.
According to the list, 30 females were involved in incidents of terrorism, 13 in kidnapping, two in extortion and three each in assassination and terror financing.
CTD DIG Imran Shahid said that the intelligence agency and the law enforcement agencies were facing difficulties in arresting these female turbans due to cultural and traditional values and also because there was almost no source linked to the female criminals or terrorists.
He said that cases were registered in different cop shoppes against these female turbans and some cases were in process in different courts.
The document revealed that cases of terrorism were registered against 18 females in different cop shoppes of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire... , adding that nine females were acquitted in the cases while the cases of others were in the court.

Extensive ground battles are reported in the Khan Younis area, according to Channel 12, amid intelligence that some of Hamas’s leadership is present in the city.
Army Radio says military forces are also operating in Gaza City and Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza.
Earlier, Israel carried out strikes in Khan Younis and Rafah, also in southern Gaza.
Gazooks reported the IDF had dropped flyers in Khan Younis calling on residents to move south to Rafah, warning the area is dangerous.
The IDF earlier published a map splitting the Gaza Strip into hundreds of small zones, which it will use to notify Paleostinian civilians of active combat zones.
It asked Paleostinians to pay attention to their area’s number, and follow the IDF’s future updates.
The military may use this map to call on Paleostinians from specific areas to evacuate when the IDF’s ground offensive expands to the Strip’s south, instead of demanding mass evacuations as it did in the northern part of Gaza.
"The IDF is operating strongly against terror organizations, while making great efforts to differentiate between civilians and terrorists," the military said in a message to Gazooks.
"The people of Gaza are not our enemies. For this reason, as of this morning the IDF is leading controlled and specific evacuations of Gaza residents in order to remove them as much as possible from areas of combat."

Listening to National People's Radio (NPR) tonight, they had a touching segment on a Paleo mom who was expecting to get her daughter back as part of the prisoners for hostages thing. Due to the truce getting canceled for Reasons Totally Unmentioned, the exchange was called off. Very tearful.
Daughter was arrested when she tried to stab a soldier at a checkpoint with a pair of scissors, which is also how she came to be shot in the leg. After a brief mention in passing, nothing more was said on this topic. Pity, since it was the only interesting part of the story. Youthful rebellion, daddy issues, or lack of parental guidance? I guess we will never know. Unless they make it a series on Netflix.

[IsraelTimes] IDF confirms deaths of Aryeh Zalmanovich, Maya Goren, Ronen Engel, Eliyahu Margalit; Zalmanovich, 85, was the oldest hostage; relatives of Engel and Margalit were freed this week.
Kibbutz Nir Oz announced Friday that three of its residents who had been taken hostage by the Hamas terror group in the October 7 assault have died in captivity.
The kibbutz named them as Aryeh Zalmanovich, 85, the oldest of the 240 people kidnapped by Hamas ...one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,... , Maya Goren, 56, a legendary kindergarten teacher in the community, and Ronen Engel, 54, whose wife and two daughters were returned to Israel earlier this week after being kidnapped alongside him.
The Israel Defense Forces later confirmed their deaths, along with that of fellow Nir Oz resident Eliyahu Margalit, 75, whose daughter was released from Hamas captivity on Thursday.
"We are continuing to invest many intelligence and operational efforts, to bring information on the conditions of the hostages," IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said during a presser. "
Hagari added the four’s deaths were declared "based on findings that were collected, and intelligence."
As part of its campaign of psychological warfare, Hamas released a video last month of Zalmanovich that raised questions about his well-being. Zalmanovich was taken hostage from his home in Nir Oz on October 7 and was not heard from since. Before being kidnapped, he managed to text one of his sons informing him that snuffies had infiltrated the kibbutz. He was one of the kibbutz’s founding members and worked as a farmer there for decades.
The kibbutz also said that Goren was murdered in captivity. Her body remains with Hamas. Goren, a teacher in Nir Oz, was setting up the kibbutz’s kindergarten space on the morning of October 7 when the Hamas attack erupted. Her husband, Avner, was murdered inside the couple’s home.
Nir Oz announced that Engel was also murdered in captivity. His body is believed to be held by Hamas in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... . A statement from the kibbutz said Engel was a photographer, volunteer in Magen David Adom and loved cycle of violences.
"May his memory be a blessing," the statement said.
Engel is survived by his wife Karina Engel-Bart, 51, and daughters Mika, 18, and Yuval, 11. The three were held in Gaza for 52 days before being released on Monday as part of a temporary ceasefire agreement. It is unknown whether the news on Engel’s fate was tied to his family’s release.
In the family’s last messages before being kidnapped on October 7, they said that they were hiding in their sealed room, aware of what was taking place on the grounds at Nir Oz. Karina Engel-Bart was on the phone with her sister Paula when she suddenly said, "Paula, they’re here, they’re here."
The call was cut short and all communication was lost.
Around midday, Ronen’s brother Dani was looking at his brother’s Facebook page, when he saw a new story posted: A video of a Hamas terrorist, smiling into the camera, saying something in Arabic. The family’s phones were traced and located in Gaza and family members were told there were no signs of violence in the house, that it wasn’t burned and their dog was alive.
Eliyahu Margalit was last seen on the morning of October 7, when he went to feed his horses at Nir Oz. It remains unclear what Margalit’s condition was when he was kidnapped by terrorists.
His daughter Nili Margalit, 41, was taken hostage by Hamas snuffies at her Nir Oz home on October 7 and held in Gaza for 55 days before being released on Thursday. Margalit, a nurse at Soroka Hospital, was in touch with several friends the morning of the attack. At the time, she was in her safe room with her dog and texted that the snuffies had been walking around "for hours."
She reported that she was locked in her safe room and could hear gunfire outside. After 9:12 a.m., there was no communication from her. Her Nir Oz house was completely burned, and it took several weeks for the army to confirm that Margalit was taken hostage to Gaza.
Friday’s announcements come as the IDF resumed its Gaza offensive on Friday after the breakdown of a weeklong truce.
During the truce, 105 civilians were released from Hamas captivity in Gaza, including 81 Israelis, 23 Thai nationals and 1 Filipino, in exchange for 210 Paleostinian prisoners, all of them women or minors. Israel also allowed an influx of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
Still held hostage by Gaza terror groups when the truce collapsed were 136 people — 114 men, 20 women and two children — government spokesperson Eylon Levy said. Ten of the hostages are 75 and older. The vast majority of the hostages, 125, are Israeli. Eleven are foreign nationals, including eight from Thailand.
Israel launched an offensive against Hamas in Gaza after the October 7 assault on southern Israel in which some 1,200 people were killed, most of them civilians, and some 240 taken hostage.
[IsraelTimes] Israeli troops operating in the Gaza Strip have recovered the body of Ofir Tzarfati, who was taken hostage by Hamas on October 7.
Tzarfati was declared captive after going missing at the Supernova rave near Re’im following the Hamas massacre there.
On Wednesday, Tzarfati’s family was notified of his death, following an identification process carried out by medical and rabbinical military officials, the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute, and the Israel Police.
In a joint military and Shin Bet operation, Tzarfati’s body was brought back to Israel for burial on Friday morning.
A date of death and other details were not provided.
[IsraelTimes] Guy Iluz, the 26-year-old Israeli who was taken hostage into Gaza on October 7, is no longer alive, his high school announces.
No details are provided regarding how he died and when.
Iluz was attending the Re’im musical festival when the terror onslaught began.
“For many weeks we hoped and prayed for Guy’s return, but today we were informed that he will not return again,” Iluz’s Raanana high school writes in a Facebook post.
He is the sixth graduate of the high school killed since October 7.
Iluz, a soundman for Israeli musicians Matti Caspi, Shalom Hanoch and others, attempted to flee the terrorists in his white jeep. Friends in a car behind him were able to escape, but the terrorists shot at Guy’s car, killing his four passengers. He was able to get out of the car and climb a tree, which is where he was when he last spoke with his family.
