[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] No flight risk there, eh.
The arrest, the 40-year-old's lawyer said, came after 40-year-old Wael Hana voluntarily flew to the city to face the federal corruption charges
Prosecutors allege the Egypt national was one of three New Jersey businessmen who collectively paid hundreds of thousands to the senator over several years
Hours after being cuffed by feds in Queens, Hana pleaded not guilty to the allegations before a federal judge, who had him released on $5million bond

Reported Erodogan has agreed to approve Sweden's membership into NATO in exchange for US approval of F-16s. Sen. Menendez had put a block on approval of the sale of F-16s to Turkey.
Timing of the Menendez raid, after Erdogan relenting on Swedish NATO entry, is suspect since it's been known for years that Menendez was corrupt as well as committing other serious felonies.
[ZERO] Hunter Biden used his Dad's Delaware home where classified documents were found strewn about the garage to receive more than $250,000 in Chinese wire transfers, according to the House Oversight Committee.
The wires were from Wang Xin and Jonathan Li, the latter of whom ran a Chinese private equity fund (BHR) which Hunter was listed as being on the board of directors. Hunter also arranged for a meeting between Li and Joe Biden while Joe was VP, while Joe allegedly gave Li's son a letter of recommendation.
Here's the breakdown of events from the Committee:
I just subpoenaed & obtained two bank wires revealing Hunter Biden received payments originating from Beijing in 2019 when Joe Biden was running for President.

[Post Millenial] Hmmmm foreign funds. Big Mike isn't running when she can make bank without waking up or working
The former first lady was paid nearly $750,000 for the speaking engagement, which lasted only an hour.
Back in the day she was a rainmaker. Guess she still is.
On Monday, Michelle Obama took the stage at the annual Bits & Pretzels Founder Festival in Munchen for a one-on-one conversation with tech venture capitalist Karim Jalbout.
...in his second year as Chief People Officer for Lilium, which sounds dreadfully important and meaningful... or possibly just human resources..
The pair discussed a variety of topics, though the main focus was promoting self confidence, as well as diversity and inclusion.
It has since been revealed that the former first lady was paid nearly $750,000 for the speaking engagement, which lasted only an hour.
According to the Daily Mail, sources close to the festival's organizers said Mrs. Obama's rate was "one of the highest fees that they ever have paid," adding, "they really pulled out all the stops to get her."
On its website, Bits & Pretzels claimed that Mrs Obama has been the most requested guest, having "topped the list year after year."
"We strongly believe in our mission of helping founders to shape a better future," festival organizers wrote, "and Michelle Obama's story of determination, community, and personal conviction is nothing short of inspiring."
"Drawing on her experiences as an accomplished attorney, bestselling author, Grammy winner, loving wife and mother, and former First Lady of the United States," they continued, "Mrs. Obama will encourage the audience to embrace their unique strengths and push past self-doubt while discussing the importance of inclusivity and diversity."
She and Jalbout were the keynote event on the festival's second day, occupying the 6 pm - 7 pm slot.
Other notable speakers at the Oktoberfest-adjacent event include AirBnB founder Nathan Blecharczyk, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck, and former football legend turned entrepreneur Oliver Kahn.
Michelle is not the first Obama to take the stage at the festival. In 2019, her husband Barack was invited to speak about leadership and how those in power can tackle the biggest problems facing the world.
Since leaving office, the pair have done well for themselves financially, netting book deals and TV specials worth millions, as well as countless speaking engagements.

So many ways to launder dirty money. Maybe Mike can get that last tuck-n-roll operation?

I don’t think Biden was ever paid to speak to people. His U Penn paycheck sounded like it was absentee. His inclusivity speeches would have been legendary, full of Corn Pop, Pony Soldiers, and stolen valor from the Civil Rights Movement. No way anyone would trust him to make a speech that didn’t result in litigation and a catatonic audience.

IIRC, Bill Clinton used to rake in quite a lot of money for speaking engagements. I don't know that he ever got $750,000 but I suppose inflation could account for the difference.
But then, who could tolerate listening to Joe Biden stuttering and stammering for a whole hour?

And I always thought it was because Bill Clinton slept in the same hotel room and the same bed in Moscow where Trump supposedly hired Russian prostitutes to put on a Golden Showers show but here it says the bed was used by Baraq and Big Mike...

Wonder why he didn't go to Hollywood?
He knows he has California in the bag no matter what...er, that is, if Newsom doesn't run.

He flew into Michigan, drove to this assembled photo-op event, put his arm around the fat black lady for the picture, spoke for about 90 seconds to the 35+ union window dressing actors, and left for California fund raiser.5
Total elapsed time at the event, 12 minutes. He didn't walk a picket line, it was staged.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California will ban people from carrying firearms in most public places while doubling the taxes on guns and ammunition sold in the state under two new laws Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Tuesday that will test the limits of the U.S. Supreme Court’s new standard for interpreting the Second Amendment. Posturing poseurs. They already know it'll be struck down
Then they’ll pass a new law to burden gun owners and sellers in a slightly different way. The process is the punishment.
The federal government already taxes the sale of guns and ammunition at either 10% or 11%, depending on the type of gun. The law Newsom signed adds another 11% tax on top of that — making California the only state with a separate tax on guns and ammunition, according to the gun control advocacy group Brady.
The money will pay for security improvements at public schools and a variety of gun violence prevention programs, including those geared toward young people in gangs. The money from the federal tax, which has been in place for more than 100 years, pays for wildlife conservation and hunter education programs.
The laws were some of nearly two dozen gun control measures Newsom signed on Tuesday. But he acknowledged many of these laws might not survive legal challenges now that the U.S. Supreme Court has imposed a new standard on interpreting the nation’s gun laws. Just last week, a federal judge struck down a California law banning guns with detachable magazines that carry more than 10 rounds — one of three major pending cases challenging California’s gun restrictions.

The dust in the bottom of a bag of Royal Oak lump charcoal is a great starting point for homemade black powder.

NOTE: If using BBQ Charcoal (I do) make sure its 100% and not the type that has lighter fuel already added. It the fuel seems to affect combustion PSI and shelf life.
I have also found using a small coffee grinder for the broken up small charcoal pieces makes a good dust powder for fireworks.

"The money will pay for security improvements at public schools"
Just like all the state lotteries were going to pay for public schools? Whatever happened to that (aside from the fungibility of money)?

The money off-set in General Fund expenditures has been a trick of the CA Department of Finance for decades. Whatever "Cause de Jour" gets new taxes, is always a net revenue increase for the state, but they merely offset what they were already spending for the particular topic or some allied expenditure and move the offset to the general fund for other uses.

[NY Post] President Biden’s dog Commander attacked yet another Secret Service agent Monday — marking the 11th known time the 2-year-old canine chomped down on the Executive Mansion’s staff.
"Yesterday around 8 p.m., a Secret Service Uniformed Division police officer came in contact with a first family pet and was bitten. The officer was treated by medical personnel on complex," USSS chief of communications Anthony Guglielmi told CNN in a statement.
The agent is reportedly in good condition and has since spoken with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle about the incident.
The White House did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
The latest bite comes just two months after shocking internal Secret Service records revealed what an aggressive and violent nuisance the young pup has b

But some LSD would make that a PETA issue or threat.
