Wagner Forces Enter Rostov, Russia — Surround the Ministry of Defence Building
My apologies, Fred. In my enthusiasm to consolidate our multitude of articles on the subject — my heartfelt thanks to all who submitted, which meant I did not have to do any real work on this clearly important story — the Bloid’s link to that particular article no longer exists. We have instead roundups here, here...
#2
... and here*, with even more links in the comments following each. It is clearly going to be a busy day, very likely with names and nyms checking in that we’ve not seen for a while as well as new visitors following links to see if we have anything useful to offer on the subject or are persuadable to their particular point of view. ;-)
A hearty welcome to all those new to our pages, and a heartier welcome back to those long missed!
* Thus do even moderators show respect to the two-link limit per comment, instituted ages ago to reduce the annoyance of spam by blocking the publishing of any comment having more.

My thanks, Fred, as always you are the rock on which we all depend.
I’ve added links to each of the three roundups referring to the other two, so wherever readers stop first they’ll be made aware of the other possibilities.
Whew! With that I’m for my pillow, to finish up the rest in the morning.

The headline at the top of Rantburg has been changed to reflect a more recent post on the rapidly moving Wagner story. For the rest, just go to Page 5: Russia - Former Soviet Union to get all of today’s post and round-ups, not to mention all the very active discussions and links in the comments.
Truly Rantburg is a team project — thank you all for being part of the team!

/\ Same here, and for many years. I have personally observed intel analysts running the Burg on a NIPR monitor while monitoring traffic on SIPR and the 'High Side'with FOX news running on a wall mounted monitor. If you're serious about your 'All Source' business, you monitor all the traffic.

At the Silver Bullet perhaps, but what about the folks at the old "Bureau of Public Roads," "Federal Highway Administration" exit off the GW Parkway?
I know they get the OSINT summaries, but its highlights unless you have a search topic if I recall correctly?

/\ That is correct. Reading the 'black book' or OSINT is not enough. Events must be synthesized into accurate predictive analysis. The 'so what' of the process.
[AFRICANEWS] Clashes resumed between Sudan's military and a powerful paramilitary force after a three-day cease-fire expired Wednesday morning, a protest group and residents reported.
The fighting has killed thousands of people and forced more than 2.5 million people to flee their homes to safer areas in Sudan and neighboring countries, according to the U.N. migration agency.
The U.N. said Wednesday that within the last month, it has helped truck 17 tons (15.4 metric tons) of aid to various parts of Sudan, including 50 truckloads in the first two days of the latest cease-fire.
“We will continue to deliver, cease-fire or not,” U.N. spokesperson Farhan Haq said at the World body's headquarters while emphasizing that the fighting needs to stop so that the world body can reach all people in need.
438 trucks with 17K tons of aid (50 of those trucks moved during the first two days of the most recent cease fire).

[SUDANTRIBUNE] Fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) flared again in the capital of North Darfur state, leaving at least one dead and several maimed.
Prompted by the efforts of community leaders and representatives of armed movements who signed the Juba Peace Agreement, a temporary ceasefire had been brokered to avert the looming threat of civil war in Darfur.
El Fasher was divided into two zones in line with the truce, with the army controlling the western part and the RSF presiding over the eastern territory.
However, the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits... the fragile peace was shattered when the Rapid Support Command demanded payment for its soldiers’ salaries, which the army vehemently refused after the rebellion paramilitary group.
The festivities reignited as the RSF shelled the army command, the El Fasher Market, and neighbouring districts such as "Tarifiya, al-Jil, al-Jama’a, al-Usra, and al-Tijaniyya." In response, the army retaliated with counter-bombing.
The festivities claimed the life of at least one civilian and left five others injured. Additionally, two soldiers from the signatory gangs tasked with securing the city market were evacuated to a hospital in the south for treatment.
In anticipation of further festivities, both parties positioned their forces across different parts of the city and shut down the central market as well as the largest livestock market.
Towards the end of April, four gangs, including the Sudan Liberation Movement — Minnawi, the Sudanese Alliance, the Gathering of Sudan Liberation Forces, and the Justice and Equality Movement, formed a joint force to ensure the security of specific areas west of El Fasher and the central market.
On Thursday, the joint force of gangs in Darfur stated that its troops escorting a convoy of doctors, engineers and medical supplies had been ambushed by gunnies on the El-Fasher Nyala highways on June 20.
One combatant was killed and two others were maimed by the attackers. Additionally, one of the assailants was arrested by the joint force, but no further details were provided..

[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Many young people detained in Ma’rib prisons have been subjected to torture, assaults and abuse without mercy, southern activist Adel al-Hasani affirmed.
Al-Hasani said in a tweet on Twitter: "I had sessions with young people who were tortured in Ma’rib prisons, and the signs of torture and the stories I heard from them are no less criminal than the prisons of the UAE."
He added, "We say to the Ma’rib authority, fear God, what is happening in prisons is shameful, and does not reflect the ’state’ or the wisdom of the tribe."
Al-Hasani confirmed that the crimes of torture are supervised in Ma’rib prisons by Ahmed Hanshal (Abu Osama), director of political security in Ma’rib.
In his tweet, he attached a picture of one of the victims of torture in Ma’rib prisons and said: "The picture before entering Ma’rib prisons and after leaving them. He died after he was released by few days, Oh God, we absolve you from every act that does not please you."
Dozens of detainees died in the prisons of the Islah Party authorities in the city of Ma’rib, as a result of severe torture to which they are subjected to, with various tools and methods, as well as physical assaults.

[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A big shot in the UAE-funded armed factions was killed on Thursday, while seven of his bodyguards were maimed in Abyan ...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues... province, southern Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... "The Staff of the 3rd Battalion in the 3rd Support Brigade, Jaber al-Fahha al-Yafe’i, was targeted in a kaboom that targeted his military vehicle with an bomb in al-Jaza area of Mudiya district," informed sources said.
The bombs killed dozens of leaders and recruits of the factions affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the districts of Mudiya and Ahwar of Abyan, following the announcement of the so-called "Arms of East" operation by the STC to combat terrorist elements in the districts of Abyan in August of last year.
The confrontations gained a regional dimension after the STC brought in a number of military brigades from Dhalea and Yafaa in restive Lahj ... a Yemeni governate located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is the stomping grounds on the southern secessionist al-Harak movement to various districts of Abyan due to the raids on the homes of the tribes in a number of areas under the pretext of harbouring terrorist elements.

There’s much more to the story though. Mr. Mattia was reportedly under the influence, was shot while pulling out and holding a cell phone in his hand, was in the habit of calling the Border Patrol to report illegals on his property near the border.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
