Two #Chicago youths have been charged with only misdemeanors after allegedly going for a joyride in a stolen vehicle & crashing into a family driving on the road. A baby was killed in the crash & the mother & other children were hospitalized. https://t.co/JBzyReCnaD
[NYPOST] A DoorDash driver was kidnapped and raped in Florida — by a creep who opened fire on her family when they came to rescue her, police said.
Joseph Killins, 38, was arrested Saturday in connection to the April 18 horror involving the female delivery worker in Tampa, according to police.
Killins is accused of holding the driver, who is in her 20s, at gunpoint around 11 p.m. and making her drive to an apartment at the Belara Lakes Apartment complex, where he allegedly raped her, cops said.
While she was at the apartment, the victim’s family checked her cellphone location — and rushed to help. It’s unclear how the kin knew she was in trouble.
"The victim’s family, who had been tracking her phone, arrived and rescued her from the car. Killins responded by firing multiple times," police said.
One of the shots fired hit a family member of the victim’s girlfriend, a woman in her 20s.
After firing multiple rounds, Killins expeditiously departed at a goodly pace.

Maybe some people who consider themselves "conservatives" will actually become that with reduced exposure to FauxNews.

No notice firing, leading news/opinion host in all of cable news. Single loudest and most impactful conservative show gone without a closing show or even a meaningful explanation, this will generate/validate wide-ranging beliefs about the source of the power to do this. The Murdoch's lost nearly one Billion dollars in stock value in an hour, for a last minute decision with catastrophic impact on the brand of News Corp. Why? No small forces in play here.

There’s word that Mr. Carlson intended to have an epic episode tonight, where he was reportedly going to delve into the Dominion Systems lawsuit and clear his name. He had guests lined up, but the bigwigs at Fox torpedoed the idea, leading to the host quitting. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how things went down, but that hasn’t satisfied his viewers. And there’s a competing narrative: Carlson would discuss the CBS 60 Minutes episode on January 6 but quit when producers said it was a no-go.

#8 The censorship train just keeps chugging along. Who else here sees the days of the 'burg being numbered?
Rantburgs presence is not driven by the profit motive. It should be, but it's not.
That said, the servers which host Rantburg are separate and independent, as in really independent. The backup server is armored.
We are only limited by personal longevity, so unless Bad Guys come for me or for The Boss, we are going to be here disseminating the news, unfiltered and uncensored.

unfiltered and uncensored that's the old battlefield, which was lost some time ago. All we had was The Forlorn Hope, and now that has finally met it's inevitable conclusion. Welcome to The Wilderness. There are no cookies.

We have some things coming down the pike, for example, a VPN server you can use to bypass internet filters. Working on that as I write this.
I haven't watched Fox News in years, nay a decade, and what I have heard from Carlson, I got via youtube. The censorship regimen sux, but the pushback from my perspective is to continue what we do and have done for many many years.

I disagree. You do have a "moderator" or two who ban commenters comments for no reason other than it countering another "moderator's" buddy's opinion. (Yeah go ahead and deny that, I expect that, too.)

# 22 And there's the rub. Just as "there is no spoon", there are no cookies whether cyber or baked. So, do we continue to try to bend the spoon or do we look to perhaps improve on our current perception?

Rantburg policy is to not second guess a moderator's decision to ban a remark.

Off color, nasty and vile with no redeeming social value might get your comment deleted here at Rantburg. But most of the comments I see getting deleted are totally incoherent. People here disagree with each other and the mods all the time. Russian and Ukrainian trolls both say false and nasty things about badanov but their comments remain. The main reason that old smoky asks you to leave the internet at Rantburg is if you're too fucking stupid.

Was listening a while ago to John and Ken on LA radio station KFI. They expressed the opinion that Tucker was a phony who did not believe his own reporting, only reported the things he did because he thought that's what people wanted to hear and that was the way to get rich and famous.
I thought, Well, John and Ken, how do I know that's not what you're doing?
Then they said that Tucker would be hired by CNN to replace Don Lemon.
I guess we'll see.

^^ When Golden Throats see a dearth of Golden Throats on the right, suddenly they become Gold Throats for the right.
Happens all the time, so I would not surprise me a tiny bit to see Carlson wind up at CNN.

Carlson spoke about big pharma and the lying media April 19. Starts at 2:30 Here. I can see why lots of folks would be upset.

A person I've known for years has slowly becoming more and more far left. She said, "Carlson is gone. Good That white supremacist should have been axed a long time ago". I asked her ho many times has she watched Tucker. She said she has never watched Fox so I asked how she knew Tucker was white supremacist. I still don't have an answer.

[NYPOST] A toxic cleanup in a quiet section of New Jersey could soon force residents to flee their homes.
Schools and homeowners in parts of Monmouth County have been told to be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice, as Environmental Protection Agency crews do cleanup work at a former industrial plant in the village of Farmingdale near the Howell Township border, NBC New York reported.
The former Compounders Inc. chemical plant has long been shut down, but more than 400 rusting, abandoned drums remain, and it’s not clear how safe it is to move them. For decades, chemicals were mixed for customers on-site.
In February, local firefighters were dispatched to the site and discovered materials burning inside an old metal structure. They also found the drums and smelled a chemical odor and alerted environmental officials.
One resident told NBC New York she remembers decades ago when her children were coming home from school, and they saw drum lids exploding — up in the air.
That kind of thing is still entirely possible at the site because no one knows for sure what chemicals are still present, officials warn.

[NYPOST] Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy Sunday after the home goods retailer failed to secure funds to stay afloat. The retailer filed for Chapter 11 protection in New Jersey federal court, noting that its 360 Bed Bath & Beyond and 120 Buy Buy BABY stores and websites will remain open as it begins efforts to effect the closure of its retail locations.
"Thank you to all of our loyal customers," the company said in a statement. "We have made the difficult decision to begin winding down our operations."
The company added that customers will have Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to use their remaining 20%-off coupons at their stores.
Bed Bath officials said that the filing is meant "to implement an orderly wind down of its businesses while conducting a limited marketing process to solicit interest in one or more sales of some or all of its assets."

Software Expert? WTF - the stupidest thing I've heard all this month. Listening to local news on BBB and the spin was that it was the fault of consumers. No mention of the My Pillow kerfuffle whatsoever - it never happened (waves wand).

BBB was doomed. Kohl’s and Target are in the same guide path. They can hold out for longer if they refrain from alienating customers, but profitability and viability seems not to enter into their calculus.

[Breitbart] Micron Technology, which manufactures semiconductor products, including USB flash drives, discriminated against qualified Americans when hiring and instead imported foreign H-1B visa workers to take jobs in the United States, a Department of Justice (DOJ) settlement states.
An American filed a complaint against Micron, saying the multi-billion-dollar corporation had failed to consider him for a position, despite his qualifications, and ended up hiring a foreign H-1B visa worker instead.
A settlement between Micron and the DOJ determined that the corporation had indeed illegally discriminated against the qualified American professional in favor of a foreign H-1B visa worker.
Through the years, Micron has hired thousands of H-1B employees.
“Companies cannot unlawfully discriminate against a job applicant because they prefer to hire someone with a different citizenship or immigration status,” the DOJ’s Kristen Clarke said in a statement. But Ms. Clark, "Companies" are only doing what the government has sanctioned and rewarded for decades.
As part of the settlement, Micron will have to provide $85,000 worth of back pay to the American professional who was discriminated against. The corporation will also be monitored by DOJ investigators for two years. Obviously an isolated case. Institutional misconduct and illegal activity not found. $85,000. should cover it.
For years, Breitbart News has chronicled the abuses against white-collar American professionals as a result of the H-1B visa program. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart News.

Why do they expand a crowded refinery when it would be cheaper to build new elsewhere? Because permits, environmental reviews, etc mean you you can't start a new one.
So they keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger...

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
