COUNTER-TERRORISM OPERATION IN MAZAR-I-SHARIF TARGETS ISIS-K SAFEHOUSES – The Taliban claim to have targeted three ISIS-K hideouts in the recent security operations that rocked the capital of Balkh Province on Friday and early Saturday. Unconfirmed reports say that 5 ISIS-K fighters (in total) were killed and that Ustad Qais, a reputed senior commander of the terror group, was among the dead. The operations focused on houses in Police Districts 5, 6, and 8. 1 Taliban was reportedly wounded in the operations. Sources say that some of the ISIS-K members killed were Tajikistan and Uzbekistan nationals. Ammunition, weapons, and bomb-making materials were seized as well as several communication devices that were reportedly intact and contained information about the ISIS-K network in Afghanistan and also in Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. There are also unconfirmed reports of multiple non-combatant casualties that resulted from the six-hour melee. No further information was available.
PAKISTAN DRAMA – Former PM Imran Khan traveled to Islamabad to appear before a court in the Judicial Complex on Saturday. Before he arrived, Police and the former PM’s supporters had already clashed and tear gas was used by both sides in the streets surrounding the Judicial Complex. A judge allowed the former PM to sign an appearance form from his vehicle over fears that violence could escalate was he to enter the court physically. In Lahore, Police arrested over 60 PTI supporters and recovered several weapons when they entered the grounds of the former PM’s home. Police say they did not enter his residence at any time but Khan has disputed this account on Twitter. Those arrested stand accused of participating in the violence that took place on 15 March when Police attempted to serve the former PM with an arrest warrant. There have been some injuries reported from both the scuffle in Lahore and Islamabad but an accurate account was unavailable. The former PM returned to Lahore and is said to be preparing for a possible PTI gathering today.
MILD EARTHQUAKES REPORTED IN TAKHAR AND BADAKHSHAN – A 5.1 magnitude earthquake shook homes in Taloqan but no damage or casualties were reported. Shortly afterward, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake rattled windows in Fayzabad and no damage was reported from the subsequent quake.
TALIBAN BANS HEMP CULTIVATION – A nationwide ban on the growing of hemp was announced on Saturday. It is believed the ban will negatively impact nearly 100,000 people who rely on the crop for subsistence. Although an alternative crop was mentioned, the Taliban’s spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture did not give details.
CONFLICT TRACKER Panjshir: A yet unidentified group has reportedly attacked a Taliban security patrol in the Hesa-Awal district. The ambush was conducted during the day, and local eyewitnesses claim it was likely an NRF operation. While casualties were mentioned, there has not been an accurate report of how many may have resulted from the attack.
NEXT 24 HOURS
ADDITIONAL COUNTER-ISIS-K OPERATIONS COULD TAKE PLACE – As witnessed in earlier successful counter-ISIS-K, Taliban security forces often launch follow-up operations based on intelligence gleaned from a successful operation. On several occasions, the subsequent operations occurred in distant Provinces. At-risk Afghans in Balkh and elsewhere should anticipate potential violent raids of suspected ISIS-K strongholds over the coming days.
LAHORE PTI RALLY COULD GO AHEAD, VIOLENCE POSSIBLE – While the Lahore High Court banned PTI from holding their rally today at Minar-e-Pakistan, the recent events surrounding former PM Khan could cause the leadership of the party to ignore the ban and the rally may go ahead as scheduled. Local eyewitnesses in Lahore say the city is in a ‘foul’ mood and that several PTI supporters continue to camp out around the city in anticipation of the event. Police have recalled many officers who were on leave and supporting units may have arrived from Islamabad overnight. Should the rally take place, a clash between police and PTI supporters is probable. At-risk Afghans in Lahore are advised to avoid the Minar-e-Pakistan area and to maintain distance from both groups of police and/or PTI supporters today.

[AlAhram] Anti-racism protesters marched to Downing Street in London on Saturday to demonstrate against the government's contentious new plan to halt cross-Channel migrant crossings by barring arrivals from applying for asylum.
Around 2,000 protesters, many carrying signs reading "no human being is illegal" and bearing trade union logos, said the demonstration was partly a response to the government's "inhuman" and "illegal" migration bill.
"People in this country are decent... and they're willing to open their arms to people who are fleeing terrible circumstances," the protest's planning officer Mark Daly told the PA news agency.
"The government is trying to make these people not only unwelcome but illegal. We cannot classify people as illegal, it's a racist policy from a racist government."
The Conservative government intends to outlaw asylum claims by all illegal arrivals and transfer them to "safe" third countries, such as Rwanda, in a bid to stop thousands of migrants colonists from crossing the Channel on small boats.
The bill proposes detaining people who have arrived in the country illegally from seeking asylum before having them sent to a third country deemed safe.
Exceptions would be made for minors, but only if they were unaccompanied.
More than 45,000 migrants colonists arrived in the UK last year by crossing the English Channel on small boats.
The UN children's agency said last week that it was "deeply concerned" about the bill's potential impact on minors.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told the House of Commons earlier this month that stopping the boats was the "people's priority".
Interior minister Suella Braverman is currently visiting Rwanda to reaffirm her commitment to the government's policy to deport migrants colonists there.
Braverman has insisted the government is within its rights to stop the migrants colonists crossing the Channel, who she said could total 80,000 this year.
"We're not breaking the law," she told Sky News, claiming support from the "vast majority" of the British public.
The government, she said, is in compliance with its international law obligations.
[Shafaq News] La Belle France has been experiencing widespread protests and strikes as the country's refineries continue to be affected. The demonstrations are in response to the government's push to raise the retirement age without a parliamentary vote. The situation has become the most significant challenge to President Emmanuel Macron's authority since the yellow vest protests of 2018.
The strikes have led to the piling up of rubbish on the streets of Gay Paree, with sanitation workers also joining the protests.
On Saturday, a front man for Total Energies reported that around 37% of operational staff at the company's refineries and depots in La Belle France had gone on strike.
Meanwhile, ...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth had turned a paler shade of blue. Star-A-Star had struck again... strikes in the railway sector continue to rotate.
Riot police clashed with protesters on Friday evening in Gay Paree, leading to 61 arrests.
The Gay Paree region has now banned gatherings on the Place de la Concorde and the nearby Champs-Elysees. However, it's easy to be generous with someone else's money... another rally is scheduled for later in the day in the Place de l'Etalia in southern Gay Paree.
Macron's government claims that raising the retirement age is necessary to avoid the system going bankrupt.
[NPASyria] US authorities arrested on Friday a man from Yonkers, New York, for expressing his support for Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) and threatening to kill coppers and mayor of the city.
The US Department of Justice said, in a release, that Ridon Kola, 32, is charged with making threatening interstate communications, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
The department said, citing US Attorney Damian Williams as saying, "As alleged, Ridon Kola posted threats on social media against law enforcement, stating his support for ISIS and his intention to murder numerous coppers."
Kola will be presented in White Plains federal court before United States Magistrate Judge Paul E. Davison.
In December 2021, New York City Police Department (NYPD) detectives interviewed Kola, as he admitted to making the threatening posts but claimed he had no plans to harm YPD officers or the Mayor.
Beginning in early 2023, Kola has escalated his threats against the YPD and other government officials and has expressed his support for ISIS.
The case is being handled by the Office’s National Security and International Narcotics Unit.
An ISIS sympathizer allegedly threatened to "slaughter" cops and "kill the fat rat mayor" of a New York City suburb during a St. Patrick's Day Parade being attended by tens of thousands of people.
Ridon Kola, 32, was arrested Friday and hit with federal charges after months of menacing messages directed at the police and city officials in Yonkers, which is New York State's fourth-largest city, and social media posts "declaring war on America."
"First people to be crucified will be the Yonkers rats Vallahi. Allahu Ekberr," Kola allegedly wrote to the Yonkers police on Facebook on March 9, according to the federal indictment.
"I will crucify Yonkers cops and their bosses all along McLean ave. (sic) It will be a horror scene . . . Allahu Ekberr."
One of the largest St. Patrick's Day parade in New York runs along McLean Avenue, which stretches from a section of the Bronx through southern Yonkers.
The phrase "Allahu Ekberr" is a form of an Arabic phrase that means, "God is great," which radical Islamic faceless myrmidons have proclaimed in connection with the commission of terrorist attacks, according to court documents.
Three days earlier, on March 6, Kola allegedly sent a message to Yonkers police that said he's "looking for that officer that came to my house and threatened me and my family to kill us," court documents say.
"I'm going to burn the world until I find him Vallahi [by God], no matter what happens to me, there will never be peace in this country anymore! Allahu Ekberr," Kola allegedly said.
The mayor's office told Fox News Digital that they don't know what he was referring to in the March 6 message.
Kola's alleged threats to Yonkers police and officials go back to end of 2021.
On Nov. 19, 2021, he allegedly sent a message to Yonkers police in Albanian that translated to, "I am going to slaughter you little girls."
On Dec. 5, 2021, he allegedly sent another message that said, "Starting tomorrow, I will start killing your officers just so u [sic] know who is doing it, Ridon Kola Albanian blood and I'm going to kill your fat rat mayor."
The next day, Yonkers police went to Kola's home, and he allegedly admitted to sending the messages, according to court documents. Police searched his home but didn't find weapons.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano thanked law enforcement for "thwarting this threat" in a statement to Fox News Digital and said he's looking forward to Saturday's parade that kicks off at 1 p.m.
"Threats like this will not intimidate us from celebrating the many contributions of our Irish American community," Spano said. "I look forward to proudly leading the parade tomorrow and ask all to meet me on McLean for the festive celebration."
Federal prosecutors connected Kola to ISIS using several social media posts that he allegedly made, including supportive messages about Sayfullo Saipov, who was convicted for his ISIS-inspired terrorist attack in New York City that killed eight people on a bike path on Halloween 2017.
Other posts referenced jihad, which means war against non-Moslems, and establishing a "caliphate," or an Islamic state, through violence, according to the court documents.
"As alleged, Ridon Kola posted threats on social media against law enforcement, stating his support for ISIS and his intention to murder numerous coppers," federal prosecutor Damian Williams said in a statement.
"Undeterred after questioning from law enforcement, Kola’s conduct escalated, as he continued to assure police his threats would be carried out."

[Dawn] Three bad boyz were potted by security forces during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area south of Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... ’s Awaran district, the army’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to a blurb from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an IBO was initiated from March 15 onwards to intercept a terrorist group operating in the south of Awaran who were linked with "firing and improvised bombs incidents" along the Turbat Awaran Road and surrounding areas.
"Based on credible information, multiple ambushes had been laid along different routes in the area frequented by the gunnies for the last three days," the blurb said, adding that "resultantly, a party of three gunnies was intercepted while moving towards their hideout."
"On being blocked, they opened fire on the security forces. During ensuing heavy exchange of fire, all three gunnies have been killed, while a cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered," the ISPR said.
It added that together with the nation, the army "remains determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan".
ARMS CACHE RECOVERED IN CHAMAN IBO
In a separate development, the ISPR said the army averted an "obvious terrorist activity" in urban areas, including Quetta, by conducting an IBO on March 15 in the general area of Boghra Road located in Chaman.
The ISPR said the IBO was carried out to search a suspected hideout of gunnies linked to recent firing incidents on law enforcement agencies and civilians in the Chaman along with planting improvised bombs in surrounding areas.
"As a result of continuous technical surveillance and reconnaissance of the area, a location of the gunnies was identified and security forces along with CTD (Counter-Terrorism Department) were inducted.
"Resultantly, while gunnies had already escaped, a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including rockets, improvised bombs and other accessories has been recovered," a blurb reads.
SURGE IN TERRORISM
Over the past few months, the law and order situation in the country has worsened, with terrorist groups executing attacks with near impunity across the country.
Since the talks with the banned murderous Moslem group Tehrik-e-Taliban ...Arabic for students... Pakistain (TTP) broke down in November, the outfit has intensified its attacks, particularly targeting the police in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and areas bordering Afghanistan. Insurgents in Balochistan have also stepped up their violent mostly peaceful activities and formalised a nexus with the TTP.
According to statistics released by the Pakistain Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, an Islamabad-based think-tank, January 2023 remained one of the deadliest months since July 2018, as 134 people bit the dust — a 139 per cent spike — and 254 received injuries in at least 44 murderous Moslem attacks across the country.

[Shafaq News] Two members of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces-PMF) were maimed in a kaboom in Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... police sources reported on Saturday.
The source stated that an improvised bomb (IED) detonated near the PMF forces in Kirkuk's Wadi Chay, causing injuries to two members of the group.
No group has grabbed credit for the attack, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The PMF is a paramilitary force formed in 2014 to fight against ISIS in Iraq. Since then, the group has been involved in various conflicts across the country and has been targeted in numerous attacks.
Iraqi security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) conducted large-scale operations on Saturday in border areas between Saladin and the Kurdistan Region. In contrast, the Peshmerga forces formed a "blocking line" to track down ISIS members.
The operations aimed to track down and apprehend ISIS members carrying out attacks in the region, particularly in the northern and western parts of Iraq.
According to Atef al-Najjar, assistant commander of the PMF's 52nd Brigade, the operations destroyed ten ISIS guesthouses and confiscated various equipment, ammunition, and weapons. In addition, military engineering units also removed several bombs planted by ISIS.
The operations were launched in retaliation for the recent kidnapping and killing of a shepherd who was a security forces member.
Meanwhile, ...back at the dirigible, the gondola was dangling by a single thread of rope.
Jack! Cynthia cried. I just realized I'm afraid of heights! I don't even like high heels!... Col. Hakim Karim Saati, commander of the 17th Brigade in the Peshmerga, announced the formation of a blocking line through patrols to track down fleeing ISIS members. At the end of the security operations, no cases of infiltration or penetration of the blocking lines were recorded.

[IsraelTimes] Iron Dome not used as projectile was predicted to land in open field; attack comes days after terror group members killed by Israel in West Bank
A rocket was launched from the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip at a southern Israeli town on Saturday evening, the military said.
Sirens sounded in the town of Nahal Oz, close to the border with the Paleostinian enclave, shortly before 7 p.m.
The Israel Defense Forces said the rocket landed in an open field, causing no damage or injuries.
The IDF added that the Iron Dome air defense system was not used as the projectile was predicted to land in an unpopulated area.
There were no special instructions for residents following the rocket fire.
The attack came after four Paleostinians, at least two of whom were members of terror groups, were rubbed out Thursday by undercover Israeli forces during a daytime raid in the West Bank city of Jenin.
Yusuf Shreim, 29, a member of the military wing of the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group, and Nidal Khazem, 28, a member of Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... , were targeted in the operation.
Islamic Jihad had vowed to respond to what it branded a "cowardly liquidation."
Over the past year, Gaza-based groups — notably Islamic Jihad — have repeatedly launched rockets at Israel in response to members being killed or arrested in the West Bank.
[IsraelTimes] Force says officers were attacked by Paleostinians in Jabel Mukaber with rocks, other objects; three suspects arrested
Police on Saturday clashed with Paleostinian residents of an East Jerusalem neighborhood while responding to reports of a traffic accident.
According to the force, officers who arrived at the scene of the crash in Jabel Mukaber had rocks and other objects thrown at them. A policeman struck in the face by a rock was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Police said other officers were then called to the scene, with one firing his gun in the air as they felt endangered. Officers used riot dispersal means to deal with the crowd, police added.
Three suspects were arrested on suspicion of rioting and assaulting police.
Video from Jabel Mukaber showed an officer striking a suspect in handcuffs. Police did not comment on the matter.
Along with the injured officer, police said a motorcyclist injured in the crash was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

[IsraelTimes] Locals in West Bank city hurl stones at ride-sharing vehicle from Tel Aviv, assault motorists who manage to escape by foot; army medics treat them for ’superficial injuries’
Two German tourists who entered the northern West Bank city of Nablus in an Israeli ride-sharing vehicle on Saturday were violent mostly peacefully attacked by Paleostinians, footage published by Paleostinian media outlets showed.
In video clips from Nablus, a group of Paleostinians could be seen surrounding the rented car, which has Israeli license plates, a sticker of an Israeli flag and the logo of the Tel Aviv municipality — which has a deal with the ride-sharing company, Shlomo Sixt.
The footage showed Paleostinians hurling stones at the car, attempting to open the doors and attacking the motorists.
The two tourists eventually managed to escape on foot. According to Channel 12 news, they were aided by an Arab Israeli on their way out.
"We just wanted to drink coffee," the tourists were quoted as saying.
A military source said army medics were treating the pair outside of Nablus after they suffered minor "superficial injuries."
The damaged ride-sharing car remained in the West Bank city.
"A mob attacking tourists because they don’t like their license plate is disgusting and cowardly," German Ambassador to Israel Steffen Seibert tweeted later Saturday. "I thank the Paleostinian Israeli citizen who saved them from the bottom of my heart."
