[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Five people were shot dead and 18 others injured during a mass shooting inside an LGBTQ nightclub, known as Club Q, in Colorado Springs on Saturday night. Update at 11:25 a.m. ET:
Colorado Springs police say Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, entered Club Q just before midnight and fired an unknown amount of bullets from his long rifle before he was stopped by at least two 'heroic' patrons who tackled him to the ground.
The gunman was located inside the club and is being treated at a local hospital.
The Colorado Springs man was apparently arrested previously for making a homemade bomb.
FBI agents are now assisting Colorado Springs police with the investigation.
Colorado Springs police received initial reports of an active shooting at the club around 11.57pm last night. The first officers arrived on the scene within three minutes of the call, and Anderson was detained at 12.02am.
Club Q describes itself online as an 'adult-oriented gay and lesbian nightclub hosting theme nights such as karaoke, drag shows & DJs.'
The club was scheduled to celebrate Transgender Day of Remembrance on Sunday 'with a variety of gender identities and performance styles,' following an all-ages musical drag brunch that morning.
After all that, the only question is whether this is a hate crime, spree crime on a convenient soft target, or a nutter. The facts Heavy has collected suggest a nutter:
Authorities did not immediately release a photo of Aldrich. Heavy is working to verify pictures on a relative’s Facebook page. There were not any immediately apparent social media accounts for Aldrich.
Online records show Aldrich with an apartment complex address in Colorado Springs. Online records indicate he lives with a 44-year-old woman who works as a support engineer.
In 2021, a man named Anderson Lee Aldrich was accused of being involved in a bomb threat situation with weapons in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood of Colorado Springs, a press release says.
According to the June 18, 2021, press release from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the reporting party “said her son was threatening to cause harm to her with a homemade bomb, multiple weapons and ammunition. The reporting party was not in the home at the time when she made the call and was not sure where her son was.”

NYP: One suspect was in custody and being treated at a local hospital as of early Sunday, according to CSPD Lieutenant Pamela Castro. The suspect’s identity has yet to be disclosed.
If the "suspect" isn't white/straight/alt-right, this will be memory-holed

I don't know about other states, but this is pretty regular in Colorado. We have several small FBI field offices and a technology center that services many of the nearby states too in electronic forensics. A mass shooting will bring in FBI assists so they can run most of the forensics on them in a quick turn around.

and bury unwanted info
That too unfortunately. The agents and lab people we worked with were very professional and good at their jobs. When I worked with Cybersecurity at the bank, they were great for helping with investigating interstate money fraud/laundering and hacked/used computers.
I do remember one time where once the "suits" got involved, like the ones from the up high on the hill center office and most likely some from DC, things went pear shaped with the investigation really fast and we never heard anything about it again other than another department was investigating it.
I've said it before. Anyone G-13 and up in the FBI gets fired. Only way to clean it up.

My favorite was finding a couple klan members plotting to make a hit on what was then a flagging presidential hopeful Barry. A plot so onerous Michelle spent the next 10 years of her life straightening her hair.
A GROQMER+ church huh. I'm going to take a page and just assign motive to a disenchanted transitioner.

“ So should you use spree to refer to a series of crimes? That is up to you. It's not bad advice to say that some people may think that crime spree implies that crime is fun, so you should carefully weigh your words when writing about the sinister. But if you choose to leave spree out of your writing, you cannot make that decision on the grounds that spree has always referredrb only to harmless, innocent fun.”

[Breitbart] Nearly 500 migrants in three separate groups enter the United States to surrender to authorities. On a rainy and cold Saturday morning, the groups forded the Rio Grande and walked more than a mile into the United States to surrender to Border Patrol agents and a Maverick County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
Breitbart Texas observed the migrants crossing the river several miles north of Eagle Pass just after a rain spell in 40-degree temperatures. Most of the migrants were single adult males and females. Mixed into the groups of mostly Cuban nationals were several family units with small children. One group of nearly 100 walked along a busy highway leading from Eagle Pass to Del Rio, Texas.
Breitbart spoke to several of the migrants claiming to be Cuban nationals. The group described the long journey to get to the United States. The family of Cubans say although the journey was harrowing, they are finally glad to be in the United States. The groups slowed traffic on the busy highway significantly as they searched for law enforcement authorities.
In September, one migrant was killed and several others, including a toddler, were critically injured in the same area when a motorist left the roadway striking the group. On Saturday, the limited number of Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement officers available to respond meant the parade of migrants walking along the highway was not escorted by authorities.
Migrant groups crossing the Rio Grande in the hundreds have become an almost daily event in this area. Earlier this month, nearly 800 migrants crossed into Eagle Pass within a few short hours. As temperatures dip into the 30s due to a recent cold front, the migrants began crossing closer to mid-morning as opposed to just before sunrise.
On Tuesday, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas provided testimony before the House of Representatives regarding threats facing the United States. Alongside leadership from the National Counterterrorism Center and the FBI, Mayorkas was directly questioned about security along the southern border.
Republican Representative Dan Bishop asked Mayorkas if he still believes the border is secure. In response, Mayorkas told the congressman “Yes, and we are working day in and day out to enhance its security, congressman.”
The statement comes after Mayorkas’s department experienced record-breaking levels of migrant apprehensions across the southwest border. In fiscal year 2021, more than 1.6 million migrants were apprehended at the border. The yearly total surpassed any other in history for migrant apprehensions.
That record was shattered in 2022 when more than 2.2 million migrants were arrested crossing into the United States within the 9 southwest border sectors. Most of the migrants surrendering to authorities on Saturday are likely to be released according to a source within CBP.
The migrants, mostly Cuban nationals, are not amenable to removal from the country under the CDC’s Title 42 Emergency COVID-19 authority, set to expire on December 21.
[Breitbart] Five U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers were shot, one fatally, after boarding a suspicious vessel off the coast of Puerto Rico Thursday. Four officers were airlifted to a medical facility in Puerto Rico after sustaining wounds during the melee.
In an exclusive report from the Washington Examiner, a CBP official initially said three officers were “involved in an exchange of gunfire with individuals on board a suspected smuggling vessel upon approach 14 miles off the coast of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.” CBP did not indicate exactly how many officers were injured.
In a tweet, Examiner reporter Anna Giaritelli said CBP sources informed her that a total of five officers were injured in the shootout, including one fatally. The officers are CBP Air and Marine Interdiction agents who provide patrol services in support of CBP and the Border Patrol at land and coastal border areas.
According to CBP, the Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (AMO) consists of five marine and one air units and is the only federal law enforcement organization in the Caribbean Basin with integrated interdiction capabilities. The AMO uses radar facilities and assets to detect and intercept air and marine smuggling attempts in Puerto Rico and surrounding areas. The Caribbean Air and Marine Branch’s area of responsibility extends south to international waters of Venezuela, west to the Dominican Republic, and southeast to the Lesser Antilles.
The identities of the officers have not been released by CBP. The agency has not released details regarding any arrests made as a result of the incident.
ANOTHER BORDER SKIRMISH ON AFGHAN/PAKISTAN BORDER – Taliban and Pakistan border security forces traded fire in Paktia Province on Saturday. The incident occurred as Afghan citizens and Taliban reportedly climbed fences along the Durand Line (Dandpatan District) with wire cutters and attempted to dismantle the barriers. There are conflicting reports over which side began firing first and there has been no word on casualties that either side may have sustained. Both sides reported that an Afghan vehicle was hit by Pakistani rifle fire. The engagement lasted for approximately 30 minutes. Yesterday’s clash is said to be the second over the last four days. No further information was available.
PUBLIC FLOGGINGS IN TAKHAR – 19 men and women were handed down sentences of flogging by courts in Taliqan and the sentences were carried out in the city center. The judgments primarily punished those accused of committing adultery.
AFGHANISTAN REMOVED FROM MEDIA FREEDOM LIST – The Media Freedom Coalition, an international organization that promotes freedom of the press around the world has announced that it revoked Afghanistan’s membership. The organization cited a prohibitive environment, state-sponsored arrests of journalists, and the forced closure of multiple media outlets that did not subscribe to the Taliban’s vision for the future.
ISIS-K CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY FOR CLERIC’S ASSASSINATION – ISIS-K released a message on several of its social media outlets claiming credit for the recent assassination of religious leader Qari Najibullah Azizi and 2 of his followers.
CONFLICT TRACKER Paktia: A second clash in the past four days occurred in the Dandpatan district along thr Durand Line. No casualties have been reported. The shooting lasted less than an hour.

TENSIONS REMAIN ALONG THE DURAND LINE BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND TALIBAN – While a joint committee has been established between the two countries to probe the impetus for the deadly clashes at Spin Bodak-Chaman Gate, tensions remain elevated along the Durand Line. The latest clash in the Dandpatan District illustrated the long-standing outrage over the erection of the fence. Local sources say rumors about Pakistan’s treatment of Afghan refugees and women, in particular, have enraged inhabitants along the border. Future isolated clashes such as yesterday’s are likely to continue.

"The Somali police foiled two IEDs fitted to a Surf vehicle which belonged to a civilian person. The police succeeded to thwart the terrorist plot to harm the civilian," he added.

[NPASyria] On Friday, a court in Copenhagen sentenced a Danish woman to three years behind bars for supporting Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... Organization (ISIS) in Syria.
The 35-year-old Danish mother of five was sentenced on charges of "entering Syria and promoting the Islamic State (IS) group’s activities."
She "entered and resided in al-Raqqa district in Raqqa province and Deir al-Zour province in Syria," according to prosecutions.
Prosecution authority said in a statement she "was active in the terrorist organization."
Prosecutor, Trine Schjodt Fogh, said even if she had not participated in fighting with ISIS, she can "support the terrorist organization by shopping in its supermarkets, by taking care of the children, by being a housewife."
The Danish woman arrived in Syria eight years ago and resided in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.
Mette Gith Stage, lawyer of the Danish woman, said, "The last few years have been difficult for her, first in the caliphate, then in a prison camp and now in prison."
The lawyer noted that she "terribly" misses her children and "is eager for the case to end so that she and her children can move on."
In October 2021, Denmark repatriated three women and 14 children from Roj camp, northeastern Syria, in a joint operation with Germany.
Since then, the three women were arrested on their arrival in Denmark.
Denmark’s Foreign Minister, Jeppe Kofod, said his country was planning to repatriate children of the ISIS family members from northeast Syria without their mothers.
For political reasons, most Danish politicians take a hardline stance on Danish ISIS members and their families to appear "tough on terrorism."
The issue of ISIS members and the need to prosecute them, the situation in Hawl and Roj camps, and the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding them are issues burdening the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
In a statement on Friday, The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights condemned a "heinous killing" of two Egyptian girl children, whose bodies were found in "sewage ditch" at Hawl Camp east of Hasakah.
The office noted that such an incident serves as a "wake-up call to the international community" for speeding the processes of repatriations.

[NPASYRIA] Bulgarian Police arrested on Saturday five people in connection with Istanbul blast that claimed the lives of six people and injured more than 80 others, according to the Bulgarian prosecution service.
Siika Mileva, a spokesperson for Bulgaria’s chief prosecutor, said the detainees were charged with helping one of the people who carried out the bombing, according to ABC News.
Istanbul blast took place on November 13.
They are accused of providing "logistical assistance" to help the person flee.
Anti-Terrorism Department in the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the capital Sofia supervises the arrest process.
Some of the detainees are from Moldova, eastern Europe, and some of them are Arabs, according to Bulgarian media outlets.
The Bulgarian prosecution did not provide further details regarding to the Ottoman Turkish allegations about the source of the attack.
The Ottoman Turkish authorities pointed the finger at the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), and published a picture for a woman called Ahlam al-Bashir, purporting that she had received instructions from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)-held city of Kobani, northern Syria, and that she had entered The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... from Afrin, a city in northwest Syria invaded by Turkey in January 2018. The Times of Israel adds:
Local television channels said three of the people charged in Bulgaria were from Moldova and a fourth was from an unspecified Arab country. There were no immediate details about the fifth person.
Ottoman Turkish police captured the chief suspect Alham Albashir — a Syrian woman who is said to have been working for Kurdish murderous Moslems — in an Istanbul suburb. Albashir reportedly confessed to planting the bomb during her interrogation.
Albashir said she joined the PKK because of her boyfriend’s influence and maintained her ties to the group after she broke up with him, the Turkey’s Anodolu news agency said.

[Rudaw] The Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. (ISIS) fighters attacked the Iraqi army in the disputed province of Kirkuk on Saturday, killing four soldiers, a local official said.
Amir Nuri, spokesperson for Kirkuk police, told Rudaw on Saturday that a group of ISIS fighters attacked the Iraqi army in Qara Hanjir subdistrict. As a result, four soldiers were killed.
The area is located on the Iraqi government’s borders with the Kurdistan Region.
A search and inspection operation has been launched by the army to arrest the ISIS fighters.
Iraqi Security Media Cell said on Friday that the security forces in a number of Iraqi northern provinces, including Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... arrested 15 ISIS fighters "based on accurate intelligence information."
Iraq on Thursday launched a fresh phase of an ongoing operation ISIS remnants in the northern province of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... The operation, dubbed "Solid Will," is an extension of an expansive effort by the Iraqi army, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, or Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic), and Kurdish Peshmerga forces seeking to eliminate the presence of ISIS from the country.
On Saturday, ISIS members targeted the Iraqi forces in al-Dibs District, northwest of Kirkuk Governorate.
A security source told Shafaq News Agency that the attack resulted in the death of three Iraqi soldiers, which prompted the Joint Operations Commander/Kirkuk Lt. Gen. Ali al-Freiji, to conduct an inspection operation to find the attackers.
Recently, the terrorist organization has become more active, as sleeper cells target civilians and security forces, especially in Kirkuk, Saladin, and Diyala governorates, known as "the Triangle of Death."

The PMF official website quoted commander Ali al-Hamdani, saying that during the operations in the Hemrin mountain, the PMF forces, in collaboration with the Iraqi aviation forces, found the remains of the "legitimate preacher" of ISIS, the terrorist called Abu Hassan al-Nuaimi, who died in the artillery shelling.
[NPASyria] On Friday, Talal al-Ka’oud, sheikh of Abu Ma’ish clan of al-Baggara tribe survived an liquidation attempt by unknown gunnies in the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria.
Al-Ka’oud told North Press that he was travelling, accompanying two of his brothers on the way to hold a reconciliation since he is a member in General Affairs’ Office of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish).
He added, "When I was travelling on Majbit al-Homr Route, there was a large number of cycle of violences with two individuals on each, after I passed them, there were other motorbikes and individuals started to wave at me to stop, but I did not."
He noted that he saw automatic weapons with the individuals, whom he realized they were not of the Asayish, so he asked his brother never stop the car.
He went further saying that the gunnies fired on him so they responded to the fire source, defending themselves.
He contacted notables of the clan and the Asayish, who arrived in the scene immediately, according to the sheikh.
However, the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits... the sheikh and his accompanies were not maimed and losses were limited to material ones in the car.
The sheikh has not accused any individual or party to be behind the attack, meanwhile, the Asayish have not commented so far.

On November 9, five brigades and battalions of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), announced dismissing the leader of Ahrar al-Sham faction, Amer al-Sheikh, and designating Youssef al-Hamwi, nicknamed Abu Suliman, as a general commander.
The arrest was carried out due to supporting the secession of the founding part of Ahrar al-Sham from the group led by Amer al-Sheikh, affiliated with the HTS, according to the sources.
The sources pointed out that the HTS arrested the two leaders on the road linking the town of Babesqa with the border city of Sarmada with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... , northern of Idlib, as they were heading towards a military post of Ahrar al-Sham in the town of Harem.
[Rudaw] Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its militia Basij killed 25 protesters in the Kurdish areas in three days of intense unrest raising the number of Kurdish protesters killed to 83 since the death of Mahsa Amini in morality police custody on September 16.
The violent mostly peaceful protest started on Tuesday evening one day after the IRGC fired a number of missiles and kamikaze drones at the bases of Kurdish opposition groups, killing at least two Peshmerga fighters. Tehran says that Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran ...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979... (KDPI) and leftist Komala party are responsible for the unrest in the Kurdish areas which have become the main engine of the protest across Iran. IRGC has even threatened to launch a ground offensive against the opposition groups in the Kurdistan Region.
"The security and intelligence forces of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran have continued their violent mostly peaceful crackdown against public protest and from 15th to 18th of November ... [they] killed at least 25 Kurdish citizens in the cities of Bukan, Mahabad, Sanandaj, Kamyaran, Piranshahr, and Baneh," Gay Paree-based Kurdistan Human Rights Network said on Saturday. The protest also coincided with the third anniversary of the killing of 1,500 protesters and bystanders during November 2019 nationwide protest.
The watchdog said that the number of maimed and arrested people is high and there is no information about where some of the detainees have been held. At least one protester was killed under torture in Sanandaj on Friday, Hengaw Human Rights Organisation said. The killing of the 25 Kurds in three days of unrest raises the total number of Kurdish citizens killed in the four main provinces in west of the country to 83 people. The number of protesters killed across the country as of Friday evening stood at 402, including 58 children and teenagers, according to tally provided by US based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) .
"The intelligence services have exerted enormous pressure on the families and threatened them in order to hand back the bodies of the dear departed and allow them to hold funerals," KHRN said.
The official newspaper of the government, Iran Newspaper, said that 14 members of the security forces were killed ruing the three days of unrest.
Amongst the 25 killed was 17 year old boy Danial Pabanadi, who was killed on Wednesday in Saqez city, the birthplace of Mahsa Amini, whose killing by the morality police on September 16 sparked the protest across the country.
Six of the 25 protesters were killed on Thursday evening and the early hours of Friday morning in the town of Bukan. The IRGC and plain clothes agents attacked a funeral of a notable personality of the Yarsan religious group in the city of Sahneh in Kermansnah province on Friday, using tear gas and beating up many mourners. In the ensuing chaos Colonel Nadir Birami , the intelligence chief of the IRGC in the city, was knifed to death.
The IRGC has responded and has detained dozens of activist muppets from the religious group.
There were calls on Saturday from hardliners for the security forces to kill more protesters, following the death of the members of the security forces. Iran judiciary officials have said that they would have no mercy on the protesters.
Several protesters have been sentenced to death after being accused of carrying arms or killing members of the security forces. The government crackdown against protesters has come under increasing international scrutiny as the UN Human Rights Council is expected to hold a special session on November 24.
The US and the EU and Canada are placing more sanctions on Iranian officials and entities including several news hounds on Iranian national TV that have been accused of working as interrogators.

[RIA Novost] Turkey launched strikes on the city of Kobani, which is under the control of the Kurdish formations of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), SDF spokesman Farhad Shami said on Twitter.
"Kobani... is being bombed by Turkish occupation aircraft," Shami wrote.
Earlier, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs , Suleiman Soylu , reported suspicions that the order to carry out a terrorist attack in the center of Istanbul last week came from this border city, and the perpetrator entered Turkish territory through the village of Afrin.
