[Breitbart] Border Patrol agents estimate more than 100,000 known migrant got-aways since the fiscal year began in October. A source operating under the umbrella of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, speaking on the condition of anonymity, says the agency recorded 47,500 got-a-ways during the month of October. That is followed by an additional 52,000 got-aways in November. The source believes the increase in November means more than 600,000 migrant got-aways will be recorded this fiscal year if the trend continues.
The source says the constant flow of migrants being apprehended along the southern border impedes the agency’s ability to adequately patrol miles of the border. The absence of routine patrols is driving the got-away numbers up as there are no available Border Patrol agents to respond to electronic sensors, camera activations, and unmanned aerial surveillance sightings. On average, more than 1,700 migrants avoided apprehension by the Border Patrol each day in November.
[Breitbart] Border Patrol agents are arresting large numbers of Venezuelan migrants at a greater frequency than in past years. The large, mostly Venezuelan migrant groups that at one time almost exclusively entered through the Del Rio, Texas, are now spreading across the southwest border from San Diego, California, to Brownsville, Texas. The groups of predominantly Venezuelans are even crossing into the most remote regions of the border in West Texas.
As reported by Breitbart Texas on Wednesday, more than 70 Venezuelan migrants crossed the border through the Big Bend National Park near Alpine, Texas, in two groups. On Thursday, an additional 60 Venezuelan migrants were apprehended after crossing the border illegally and entering the national park.
The park is patrolled by agents assigned to the Big Bend Sector of the Border Patrol. The Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector is the sector with the fewest migrant apprehensions among the nine southwest border sectors.
Border Patrol Agents near Brownsville arrested 168 Venezuelan migrants in one single group on Monday.
In Del Rio n Sunday, a single group of more than 250 mostly Venezuelan and Cuban migrants were apprehended and were detained under the city’s international bridge due to overcrowding at area Border Patrol stations.
A media report highlighted the issue of Venezuelan migrant trafficking in San Diego. In early November, Border Patrol agents in San Diego arrested two Mexican nationals suspected of bringing large numbers of Venezuelan and Brazilian migrants to Tijuana, Mexico, to be smuggled in Southern California. Nearly 350 migrants from Venezuela and Brazil were arrested by Border Patrol agents in San Diego over a two-week period in five large groups.
According to reports from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the spike in the arrest of Venezuelan nationals hit its peak in October. During that month, the Border Patrol arrested 13,387 Venezuelan migrants crossing the southwest border. Venezuela is currently the fourth-ranked nationality of migrants apprehended by the Border Patrol nationwide for the month of October. Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras are in the top three spots respectively.
In October of 2020, only 136 Venezuelan nationals were arrested illegally entering the county. As reported by Breitbart Texas, the sharp month-to-month increases over last year mark a more than 9,000 percent increase.
The exodus of migrants from Venezuela is a clear indication the trend is likely to continue. According to the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than 5.6 million Venezuelans left their country over the past few years. In a recent report by the IOM, the volume of Venezuelans leaving the country is considered the largest external displacement crisis in Latin America’s recent history.
The current population of Venezuela stands at 28.7 million and has remained unchanged in nearly a decade as a result of external migration. In a 2018 survey by the IOM, 92 percent of Venezuelan migrants who have migrated to other Latin American countries indicated they intended to remain in their new country of residence. That may be changing.
Breitbart Texas interviewed several Venezuelan migrants who abandoned their permanent residence in a third country in hopes of seeking asylum in the United States. Those doing so are likely responding to a change in immigration policies regarding asylum petitions. Once forced to remain in Mexico under the previous administration’s Migrant Protection Protocols, many are now released into the United States to await the lengthy asylum adjudication process.
Hundreds of Venezuelans have joined in on a migrant caravan in Mexico hoping to achieve the same goal, according to a recent press report by Reuters. According to the caravan’s organizer, between 20 and 30 percent of the nearly 3,000-strong migrant caravan in Southern Mexico is comprised of Venezuelan migrants.

Coming to a neighborhood [and Quikcheck] near you!.
[AlAhram] Æthiopia's military this week regained control of territory previously claimed by Tigrayan rebels, a potential validation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's decision to join soldiers to conflict-hit areas. Yet how the government scored its wins and what they mean for an eventual outcome in the year-old war remain points of fierce debate as fighting enters a new, uncertain phase.
Just a month ago, the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) rebel group appeared to be on the offensive, claiming to have captured Dessie and Kombolcha, towns on a key highway headed towards the capital Addis Ababa. They reportedly reached as far as Shewa Robit, around 220 kilometres (135 miles) northeast of Addis Ababa by road.
But after Abiy announced last week he would lead operations in the field, the government announced a string of victories and the rebels acknowledged making adjustments to their strategy.

[Garowe] Somalia-based al-Shabaab ...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... hard boyz on Saturday killed two coppers in Mandera, in an ambush that comes after several months in the country, which had been enjoying relative peace and stability.
Authorities in Kenya said the hard boyz ambushed coppers who were riding on a lorry while taking patrols in the region around Rhamu area of Mandera county. The incident happened around 9 am local time.
Several eyewitnesses told the Star that the lorry was on administrative duties as it was also carrying food for officers on the ground when the incident happened. The victims were shot at and sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
According to locals, the hard boyz had been sighted days earlier and were allegedly planting explosives. The al-Shabaab hard boyz first tried to use a rocket-propelled grenade on the lorry but missed prompting them to use rifles.
"They sprayed the lorry as it paced past where they had staged the ambush," an officer said.
A police officer who survived the attack said their driver drove past the scene at high speed amid heavy gunfire.
"Unfortunately we lost two officers and others were maimed. It could have been worse," said the officer.
North Eastern regional police commander Rono Bunei confirmed the incident and said a reinforcement had been sent to the ground to pursue the attackers. The lorry’s tires were deflated but the driver managed to control it for almost 20 kilometers and called for medical help on those injured.
This is the latest such incident to happen in the area in the past months. This has grounded many operations in the expansive county, which has left at least 30 people dead.
The border region has borne the brunt of repeated attacks from the hard boyz who are at times aided by locals. The area is near the Somalia border and the hard boyz usually cross at will and stage attacks before escaping back.
The holy warriors have been attacking places in the region especially in Mandera and Garissa after breaching security zones, which left dozens of civilians and security officials dead or maimed.

[BBC] A dissident former leader of Colombia's Farc rebels has been killed in an ambush in Venezuela, local media reported on Sunday.
Hernán Darío Velásquez, nicknamed El Paisa, was reportedly shot dead in Venezuela's Apure state.
His death has not been officially confirmed and the Colombian army said it had no knowledge of the killing.
Local media have speculated that mercenaries may have killed Velásquez, seeking rewards for his capture.
Colombian authorities told El Tiempo newspaper that they would not confirm his death until officials had seen his body. A spokesperson for Colombian President Iván Duque told Reuters news agency that his office was seeking more information.
The Farc rebels were a Marxist group that waged a bitter war against the Colombian government for over 50 years, before eventually calling a ceasefire in 2016.

As per the preliminary report, a dispute had emerged when Kumara removed some posters from the walls of the factory at 10:28am. The posters were reportedly inscribed with the name of the Holy Prophet (PTUI!).
Shortly after, the factory owner had reached the spot and resolved the issue. Kumara had apologized for the misunderstanding on his part.
After Kumara made the apology, the matter was reportedly considered settled and the factory workers had dispersed.
However, ars longa, vita brevis... some workers then incited their colleagues to attack the manager.
Within a few minutes, a mob formed and set on the victim within the premises of the industrial unit, eventually killing him.
A total of 13 security guards were present in the factory as the brutal attack was occurring. None of them tried to rescue the victim or disperse the mob, the report had said.
Kumara’s body was later dragged outside the factory.
Police received a phone call at 11:28am about the incident, officials had said. A police party had reached the site within 12 minutes.
The wife of Diyawadana Priyantha pleaded for justice for her slain husband from both Pak and Sri Lankan leaders, Sri Lankan news outlet Newswire reported.
"I got to know about the brutal murder of my husband from the news. Later, I saw this on the internet as well. He was a very innocent man," she said, talking to news hounds from BBC Sinhala.
"I request leaders of Sri Lanka and Pakistain to do justice for my husband and two children, by bringing the perpetrators to justice," she went on to say. The dear departed's brother said that Priyantha had been working in the Sialkot factory since 2012.

A surprising response. Has Pakistain started to become a country without us noticing?
[SHAFAQ] A security source in Diyala reported that security forces thwarted an ISIS attack northeast of the governorate.
The source told Shafaq News Agency that ISIS forces of Evil attacked an army security point on the outskirts of Nawfal village, north of al-Muqdadiyah district, but the army forces confronted them and forced them to flee.
He added that an bomb blew up on the road leading to the village, but no casualties were recorded.
Areas north of al-Muqdadiyah, 40 km northeast of Baqubah, are subjected to continuous attacks due to their proximity to the Hamrin mountains, the largest strongholds of the terrorist organizations.
[IsraelTimes] Guard at Te’enim Checkpoint seriously maimed when hit by vehicle coming from Paleostinian side; suspected assailant said ’neutralized’
An Israeli security guard was seriously maimed in a suspected car-ramming attack at a West Bank checkpoint early Monday morning, security officials said. The driver of the vehicle was shot and "neutralized."
The incident occurred at about 1.30 a.m at the Te’enim checkpoint near the West Bank city of Tulkarem. The guard was hit by a vehicle traveling from the Paleostinian side, the officials said.
Security forces at the checkpoint shot and "neutralized" the driver, the officials said. Hebrew media reports said he was killed.
Magen David Adom medics said the guard, 34, was in a serious, but stable condition with head and chest injuries and was conscious. He was evacuated to the Tel Hashomer hospital near Tel Aviv.
The incident comes just over a day after two Border Police officers rubbed out a Paleostinian assailant after he stabbed a Jewish civilian in a suspected terror attack near the Old City of Jerusalem.
[IsraelTimes] West Bank resident suspected of knowing of attack plans or of helping slain suspect; cab driver accused of driving alleged terrorist to Jerusalem ordered held 5 more days
Israeli forces on Sunday arrested the brother of a suspected Paleostinian terrorist who carried out a stabbing attack in Jerusalem, the Shin Bet security agency confirmed.
The brother, who is suspected of having prior knowledge of Muhammad Salima’s intentions to carry out an assault and of possibly assisting him, was detained at home in the West Bank town of Salfit.
That’s Muhammad Shaukat Muhammad Salima in full. Perhaps at some point we’ll learn the brother’s name.
Salima, 25, stabbed an Israeli civilian near the Old City of Jerusalem on Saturday afternoon before being rubbed out by Border Police officers, Israeli authorities said.
Also Sunday, a judge ordered a taxi driver suspected of transporting Salima to be held in jug for at least five more days.
The man, a resident of the "triangle" of Arab towns in northern Israel in his 40s, is suspected of assisting Salima.
Border Police chief Amir Cohen met with the two officers on Sunday and gave them back their guns, which were taken when they were questioned over the shooting.
He also ordered that they return to operational duty.
The officers have said they feared he was still dangerous when they shot him, and they did not know what he was holding or concealing on his person.
The two officers killed the suspected terrorist after he stabbed Avraham Elimelich, an ultra-Orthodox man, in the neck, then attempted to attack the officers. The incident took place on a street near the Old City’s Damascus Gate.
