Yet another urban setting where residents are beset by ammunition shortages and law enforcement meddling.
[NYPOST] A 21-year-old New Jersey man who allegedly killed his grandfather with an ax told police he believed the 81-year-old man was a monster — and that "God" made him do it." Jason Vicari, of Wyckoff, has been charged with murder in the brutal death of his grandfather Ronald Vicari inside his home in Elmwood Park. I strongly suspect God said no such thing.
The Bergen County SWAT team responded to the home about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after the suspect locked himself inside. He surrendered 50 minutes later after speaking with a negotiator, authorities said.
When asked who else was inside the house, Vicari said, "Not anyone alive," NJ.com reported, citing the arrest report.
"God told me to do it," he said 10 minutes later without being asked, according to the report.
Inside the home, police found the body of Ronald Vicari, who had been struck in the head, NJ.com reported. The head of the ax and the handle were found separately.
"Mr. Jason Vicari uttered that he believed his grandfather was a monster and that God told him he would have to change his religion," the arrest report stated, adding that the suspect’s clothes were bloody.
That sounds like plain vanilla paranoid schizophrenia, for which the family cannot force medication if the patient doesn’t want it or doesn’t think he needs it, despite the risk to himself and others.
The alleged killer also faces two weapons charges.
The elder Vicari was a prominent figure in Elmwood Park, where he served on the planning and zoning boards.

30 years....
Anyone want to explain the justice in this?
My Suggestion: The US court system needs a overhaul to be FAIR and Simplified.
Lawyers should be given 5 years to file all their appeals.
Instead of stringing them out to file, just months before each new delayed execution date.
Then we need to also have a USC law that states.
If a person is wrongfully convicted and/or executed based on deliberately withheld evidence beneficial to the defendant, or knowingly presents False Evidence against the defendant. Then all those doing so will arrested and tried in court. The sentence to be equal to the handed down sentence plus allow the recovery of up to 10x's all expenses incurred and/or loss of income by the defendant.

I blame it on the Socialcrats:
BAN THE GUN agenda and their attacks on the Bill Of Rights every time they are in power.
Couple this with their history of Tinkle Poor Economy Mgt. skills and adding $ Trillions to the National debt to Bankrupt the US and move to Socialist Dictatorship.
Now add all those together, plus a 3% to 4% illegal population with different cultural practices, toss in illegal Civil Rights restrictive Pandemic measures and you have a ticked off citizenry.
The question should be: How long before some NUT JOB decides to take it out on DC and not his neighbor?

...oh, oh, but you can't do that cause its racist don't you know. Ignore the truth and then think you can come up with mitigating programs ain't going to happen.
By the way, did you correlate how the guns were obtained with the shootings? Simple thing like the shooter was not qualified in the first place to be carrying a gun raises the question that if it is already illegal how does any law or program stop them getting one? Ah, too simple.

I've hiked near there. The Merced is a very steep canyon and gets sun blasted in mid-summer. They committed to a 8+ miles loop hike that is downhill first. You've got to pay attention to the map or read one of the longer stories to realize they'd already covered 6-7 miles and were coming up out of an exposed canyon with a surface temperature of 107+ degrees. Not enough water and poor terrain knowledge became a death sentence, no toxic fumes or algae required.

I can see that. Carrying all the normal kit, plus the 1 year old bag of things. Hot all day, but baby passes out, get in a hurry and stressed, dad goes down, mom get is a fizzy and doesn't have the strength to unharness the baby, passes out too. Dog stays with them.

The fact that the DP and Director were both hit says to me that they were probably actually filming when it happened. If so the investigation will be short.
#15
Three things you will not see or hear about this incident:
1. A comment about Alec, in Spanish, from his wife
2. A comment from anti-gun fanatic David Hogg
3. An SNL skit making fun of Alec similar to when Dick Cheney accidental shot a fellow hunter
#17
The rounds were actual ammo. Not blanks. It occurred during rehearsal, not the filming itself. If Baldwin was not anti-gun but was a gun enthusiast he would know how potentially deadly any gun is and check everything is safe because in they rehearsal or actual scene you are pointing the gun at another person.
Lastly, Baldwin should not be the one or at least the only one charged with involuntary manslaughter. The equipment manager or staff who actually brought a loaded gun onto the set and handed it to an actor who does not like/use/know guns should do the time.

Reminder of how Brandon Lee was killed on set.
Ever since the tragic 1993 death of 28-year-old Brandon Lee on the set of The Crow, procedures involving the use of firearms in movies and television tightened to where, if followed, they are foolproof.
In the case of Brandon Lee, a real revolver was used. According to various reports, here’s what happened… The camera shot required that a revolver look loaded. This meant the camera had to see bullets in the cylinder. The special effects crew removed the gun powder from the rounds, replaced the bullets, but failed to remove the primer that explodes to explode the gun powder.
This gun was fired, and the small explosion of the primer was enough to push one of the bullets into the barrel. No one noticed it there. In the next scene, this same gun was loaded with blanks. These are rounds with gun powder but no bullets that, when fired, create the noise, flash, and kickback of a real gunshot. The blank was fired at Brandon; the bullet that had been jammed in the barrel came out with enough force to lodge in his abdomen and kill him.
No one was criminally charged on the set. Brandon Lee's death was rulled an accident.
However, this may result in charges because actual live rounds unmodified WERE brought on set.

There are reports that immediately after the deadly shooting, Baldwin kept asking, “Why was I handed a hot gun? In all my years, I’ve never been handed a hot gun.”
#22
Baldwin released a statement Friday morning, saying,
"There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."

The fact that two people were injured/killed is weird to me. Unless there were 2 bad or 2 live rounds. Also, the scene would have required him to shoot twice at two different people in rapid succession because after the first one was hit everything would have stopped. You guys on this board know that it is tough for a novice shooter to hit 2 moving targets at any reasonable distance when shooting rapidly.
Seems like an accident from the reactions of the parties but they are, after all, actors…

That's what I was picturing, a pass through, but have not seen anything about platform, caliber, or distance.
Could have been a total fluke, just shooting thataway. That happens. However, if this was a practice for the scene, it could be these two were instructing Baldwin where to point and/or determining the best camera framing and position.
Lots of illegal aliens coming through Yuma at the moment. Could the invaders be connected to this attempt?
[OutKick] An early Wednesday morning armed robbery attempt at a Yuma, Arizona Chevron station didn’t go as planned for the scumbags who planned on pulling a heist. Store surveillance video released by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office shows a store customer appearing to talk to a Chevron worker as two suspects enter the front door with one holding a handgun.
What the criminals didn’t know is that the customer was a Marine Corps veteran and had no intentions of being turned into a crime victim.
"The armed suspect walked next to a store customer while pointing the weapon toward the cashier when the customer acted immediately and disarmed him. The other two suspects fled the area when they witnessed their fellow criminal stopped. The customer was able to detain the suspect he disarmed until law enforcement arrived," the YCSO said in a press release.

This is the Asian way of thinking. Blood purity is so important to them. The mixing of races provides much stronger varieties of humanity. Genetic abnormalities will abound quickly. Time is against them. look at the birth rates now in Japan and China now. They will deliver their own extinction. You can see the results here now with the Amish. The Amish realize they need new blood.

[DW] The European Parliament has adopted a report slamming China's "military belligerence" and calling for closer relations with Taiwan, triggering "strong condemnation" from Beijing.
In other words, posturing. This will anger China without in any way helping Taiwan.
[DW] Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Slovenia said their EU-wide initiative to expand the bloc's military units was inspired by recent events in Afghanistan.
If they manage to pull together enough spare parts to keep their equipment repaired, enough bullets to drill skills as well as shoot the enemy, and enough transport to get to the battlefield du jour, I’d be willing to call that a win.
Germany and four members of the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... have launched an initiative to establish a bloc-wide rapid reaction force for future military crises, the German news agency dpa reported on Thursday.
The initiative, which also draws in Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Slovenia, aims to expand the existing EU battle groups, which are multinational military units of 1,500 personnel each on standby to respond to crises.
The new force is expected to include space and cyber capabilities, along with special forces and air transport.
The five countries said recent events in Afghanistan have shown that the EU must be able to act swiftly, according to a document cited by dpa.
To this end, the availability, readiness, deployability and competence of the forces had to be improved, the document added.
FORCE COULD ACTIVATE DORMANT EU TREATY ARTICLE
...which shows what treaty articles of this sort are worth...
In order to provide greater flexibility, the five states also proposed using Article 44 of the EU Treaty, which has never been activated before.
The article allows coalitions of willing member states to carry out security activities with the permission of other non-participating countries.
The plan also calls on EU member states to utilize more regional cooperation arrangements. It does not, however, make any specific proposals on the size of the force in terms of personnel.
The document says that the land-based forces should be of brigade strength, or about 5,000 troops.
The current battle group concept provides for two units, each with around 1,500 troops, to be on standby, with forces from different member states rotating every six months.
GERMAN DEFENSE MINISTER WELCOMES PROPOSAL
German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer seemed optimistic about the proposal. In an interview with German broadcaster Deutschlandfunk, she said that although EU forces within NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure.... cannot function without the support of the United States, the reaction force would offer an addition, but not a replacement for US forces.
[ZeroHedge] A top NIH official admitted in a Wednesday letter that the US-funded so-called "gain-of-function" research in Wuhan, China - and that the US nonprofit which conducted it, EcoHealth Alliance - led by the controversial Peter Daszak, "failed to report" that they had created a chimeric bat coronavirus which could infect humans.
In a letter addressed to Rep. James Comer (R-KY), NIH Principal Deputy Director Lawrence A. Tabak cites a "limited experiment" to determine whether "spike proteins from naturally occurring bat coronaviruses circulating in China were capable of binding to the human ACE2 receptor in a mouse model." According to the letter, humanized mice infected with the modified bat virus "became sicker" than those exposed to an unmodified version of the same bat coronavirus.
Daszak failed to report this finding, and has been given five days to submit "any and all unpublished data from the experiments and work conducted" under the NIH grant.
Rutgers University Board of Governors Chemistry Professor Richard H. Ebright sums it up. :
NIH corrects untruthful assertions by NIH Director Collins and NIAID Director Fauci that NIH had not funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan. NIH states that EcoHealth Alliance violated Terms and Conditions of NIH grant AI110964.
The NIH received the relevant documents in 2018 and reviewed the documents in 2020 and again in 2021.
The NIH--specifically, Collins, Fauci, and Tabak--lied to Congress, lied to the press, and lied to the public. Knowingly. Willfully. Brazenly.

The adjacent port of Long Beach came in even lower, at 333, behind Turkey’s Nemrut Bay and Kenya’s Mombasa, the groups said in their inaugural Container Port Performance Index published in May.

This POS company & concept just cratered - who coulda seen it coming?
[Zero Hedge] - Confirming yesterday's observation that the market is quick and merciless to punish any and all stocks that miss expectations this quarter, moments ago (former growth stock) Beyond Meat plunged 14% after reporting preliminary net revenue for third quarter of about $106 million, missing the estimate of $134.3 million by about 30%, and a huge disappointment to the company's prior guidance which was $120 million to $140 million.
As Bloomberg notes, while the Company’s previous third quarter guidance anticipated a sequential decline in net revenues, the deceleration was far larger than anticipated. "We really bit the big one this quarter!"
The company said that multiple factors contributed to the shortfall during the quarter:
* Demand was impacted by broader ongoing macro and micro-economic factors, including among others, the effects of the COVID-19 Delta variant
* Challenges in operations that led to unfulfilled orders
* Company experienced decrease in retail orders that persisted longer than expected from a Canadian distributor * It's NOT meat
None of this mattered to investors who now sees just round after round of excuses from the management team, which will soon be on the chopping block unless it manages to restore some of the company's previous growth.

"The company said that multiple factors contributed to the shortfall during the quarter:"
They forgot two:
* The product does not taste like meat
* Vegetarians prefer to virtue signal their diet and looking like you are eating a burger is the opposite of that. So there is no real market beyond the curious.
