The NYT's COVID reporter is saying we should stop talking about the lab leak theory -- *even if it's how COVID entered humans *-- because that theory (unlike, I guess, the wet market theory) is racist.
Spot on very well said. This dereliction of duty of care by the state for its citizens in favour of big corporations who’s only agenda is obscene profit is a step back to feudalism. Master Servant relationship.

Honestly Mary Sheehan, I've had about enough state care and I absolve them of any additional 'duty' as you so imaginatively put it.

She looks drained, poor thing. While she recently had her hair done, her makeup was not done by a professional stylist that day, and her fine motor control is clearly not what it was when she was younger. Note also that while the rocker chick is wearing a light summer dress and sandals, Mrs. Clinton is wearing a wool coat over a long sleeved shirt and slacks — suggesting temperature control problems. Bill refuses to defrost the Ice Box

The biggest problem with Clinton is that she is exactly what secular progressives accuse Christians of being — morally narcissistic. She not only assumes that her moral positions are correct, but also that there is no justification behind conservative beliefs besides bigotry.
Go ahead, drink your wine and contemplate your sins, if you are still able to understand your evil ways.

Anybody notice if Huma is still hanging around? Now that the Clinton's are feuding with the Kalorma Kompound and its alums the grifting has slowed to a trickle, the value of the close relationship seems to have ended? no more matching clothes and close whispers...
[NEWSBUSTERS.ORG] Along with its ongoing ethical problems, a deceptive marketing campaign, and a continued hatred for non-liberal voices, it’s been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year for the Jeffrey Zucker-led CNN ...formerly the Cable News Network, now who knows what it might stand for... . And as per the latest Nielsen ratings, CNN has continued to hemorrhage viewers with primetime and entire day total viewership down over 70 percent since January.
Nielsen Media Research has the breakdown and it’s not pretty, no matter how the Zucker Borg would spin it. Since a January high of roughly 798,000 primetime viewers and 530,000 total day viewers in the 25-54 demographic, CNN has fallen off a cliff and into the pit of misery with the network fetching only 229,000 in primetime and 152,000 in total day over the past month.
That, dear NewsBusters readers, would represent a cratering of 71 percent for both metrics. Granted, January saw the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the second Trump impeachment, and the Biden inauguration, but to lose anything by such a large metric wasn’t anything one should brag about.
If you’re delusional enough to think it was significantly better among all age demographics, think again (and we won’t even get to what fellow liberal network MSNBC has been pulling on weekends).
CNN flaunted their ratings back in January when they fetched nearly two million viewers (1.899 million) in total day and nearly three million (2.713 million) in primetime, but they haven’t had anything to write about since then as the last month yielded only 229,000 primetime viewers and a paltry audience of 152,000 in total day.
As percentages, those would work out to devastating drops of 65 percent and 67 percent, respectively.
Instead of making changes to their lineup to improve ratings and seek to reconcile with the side of the aisle they’ve treated like enemies, individual CNN shows have been paddling the struggleboat.
After a horrid start, the rebooted New Day fetched its worst week of the year last week with only 461,000 total viewers and 108,000 from the 25-54 demo.
In contrast, Fox & Friends finished last week with 1.1 million total viewers and 218,000 in the demo. For those keeping score at home, that’s more than double CNN as the Zucker network morning show has been under half a million viewers for a month. Guess those snarky "Roll the Tape" commentaries haven’t done the trick.
Before we go, we should check in on how the rebranded Don Lemon Tonight did in its first week since Lemon and his bosses engaged in some shady marketing by trying to make it seem like Lemon was leaving CNN and his show CNN Tonight had been cancelled.
Sadly for CNN (though fortunately for America), Don Lemon Tonight fetched Lemon’s worst week of the year across both metrics.

[REDSTATE] Yesterday, Peter Doocy asked Jen Psaki ...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama... why President Joe Biden ...... 46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....... wasn’t pressing for more information on the Wuhan lab leak theory. "We have repeatedly called for the WHO to support an expert-driven evaluation of the pandemic’s origins," Psaki replied. That answer was very troubling, I observed in our story on Psaki’s response. Is there an American investigation still ongoing into the question from the Biden team, I asked? Because it doesn’t sound like it, from what Psaki was saying — and because we surely can’t trust anything that WHO concludes on the matter, given their prior actions.
Turns out that was a good question to ask. Because now there are reports that Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing... actually shut down an investigation into that very question.
There’s a new CNN ...formerly the Cable News Network, now who knows what it might stand for... story out that breaks that bombshell news. But it looks like someone knew this information would be leaking out soon and this is part of the effort to soft-pedal the termination of the investigation.
The inquiry was launched in the State Department last fall under President Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... to look into the origin of the pandemic and the leak theory. But the Biden folks cut the leak inquiry this spring. Here comes the spin as to the why.
But the inquiry quickly became mired in internal discord amid concerns that it was part of a broader politicized effort by the Trump administration to blame China and cherry-pick facts to prove a theory.
The decision to terminate the inquiry, which was run primarily out of the State Department’s arms control and verification bureau, was made after Biden officials were briefed on the team’s draft findings in February and March of this year, a State Department spokesperson said. Questions were raised about the legitimacy of the findings and the project was deemed to be an ineffective use of resources, explained a source familiar with the decision.
Sources involved in the Trump-era inquiry rejected criticisms over the quality of their work and told CNN their objective had been to examine scientific research and information from the US intelligence community which backed the lab leak theory and shone more light on how it could have emerged in the lab.

Moderator lotp found this gem. Here is what lotp said about it:
But what would it mean if the lab leak hypotheses proved correct?
The result would be uncomfortable not just for the Chinese Communist Party, which would be guilty of overseeing arguably the biggest cover-up in history of an event that caused economic chaos, millions of deaths and misery around the world.
It would shake science to its foundations for carrying out risky research despite clear warnings of the dangers, and then collaborating in an epic whitewash.
And it would challenge a media that meekly accepted the establishment view rather than doing its job of asking difficult questions — a failure even more serious than the Iraq War intelligence debacle.
Indeed, much of science and the media already look sadly tainted by their failures on this front, regardless of the outcome.
[Unheard dot com] It has taken 17 months since the new coronavirus supposedly erupted, but the lab leak hypothesis has finally come in from the cold. At first it was dismissed as a crazy conspiracy theory promoted by ranting right-wingers and nasty Sinophobes; a stance inflamed by some of the wilder claims made about the deliberate release of bio-weapons and the determination of some scientists to assist the Chinese cover-up. But now an increasing number of credible scientific voices are calling for a full investigation into whether this global catastrophe was the result of some kind of human error at a Wuhan laboratory.

a lot of interest in this in International Law
even if the virus came the wet market without any leak from the WIVirology, China has a major legal liability (although they won't pay)
if there is a lab leak the liability is a lot stronger (although they still won't pay)
The damage to the PRC prestige is already a lot but it would be much more with a lab leak. The PRC belts and roads program would have to be reconstructed.

[Web Archive dot org] Early this year, someone deleted this article from 2015. [Washington Free Beacon] Two scholars at the Atlantic Council, the prominent foreign policy think tank that claims to staunchly oppose Russian influence, have raked in nearly $3 million lobbying in favor of a Russian pipeline that American officials worry will allow Vladimir Putin to increase his influence in Europe.
Since 2017, Richard Burt, an Atlantic Council board member, and Frances Burwell, a distinguished fellow, have lobbied for five European companies financing the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which will transport gas from Russia to Germany. In addition to their perches at the Atlantic Council, Burt and Burwell are partners at McLarty Inbound, a consulting group that lobbies for foreign companies.
Burt and Burwell have used their positions at the Atlantic Council to further their work at McLarty. Burt has defended the pipeline at public Atlantic Council events and reportedly pitched it in private discussions with colleagues at the think tank. Burwell defended Nord Stream in at least one major media interview where she was introduced as an Atlantic Council fellow, though not as a McLarty lobbyist.
The conflict of interest highlights the complexity of competing interests at the Atlantic Council, which gives its experts and board members wide berth and which employs several former ambassadors vigorously opposed to the pipeline. It raises the question of whether the Atlantic Council, founded in 1961 to strengthen NATO and the Atlantic alliance, promotes a set of core beliefs any longer or has devolved into a free-for-all of competing views.
Burt did not respond to a request for comment. Burwell said that the Atlantic Council as an institution does not take positions on policy issues, and that "its many fellows/researchers take diverse points of view."

From a purely environmental perspective Nord Stream transports natural gas and Keystone oil, so spills are entirely different. Gas 'spills' into the atmosphere and may cause global warming (and spills much more easily); oil spills onto land, where it is readily cleaned up, or into water, where it is not, but are easily spotted and tracked to their source.
[NY Post] Hey CIA, FBI and MSM, here is the Russia, Russia, Russia you have been looking for.
Joe Biden met with Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakhstani business associates of his son’s at a dinner in Washington, DC, while he was vice president, records on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop show.
The dinner, on April 16, 2015, was held in the private "Garden Room" at Café Milano, a Georgetown institution whose catchphrase is: "Where the world’s most powerful people go."
The next day, Hunter received an email from Vadym Pozharskyi, an executive of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, to thank him for introducing him to his father.
"Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together," Pozharskyi wrote on April 17, 2015. "It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure."
At the time, Burisma was paying Hunter $83,333 a month to sit on its board.
The guest list prepared by Hunter three weeks before the Café Milano dinner included Russian billionaire Yelena Baturina and her husband, corrupt former Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov, who since has died. Baturina wired $3.5 million on Feb. 14, 2014, to Rosemont Seneca Thornton LLC, a Delaware-based investment firm co-founded by Hunter and Devon Archer, a former adviser to Secretary of State John Kerry.
The dinner raises questions about how much Joe Biden, who has claimed ignorance of his son’s activities, knew about Hunter’s dealings with foreign businesses and government officials.

Just confirming what the Bidens' CEO Tony Bobulinski testified in October 2016, in a sworn affidavit and two interviews on national television with Tucker Carlson: Joe Biden is a brazen liar who is of course intimately involved in his son's worldwide rolling carnival of influence peddling.
Also note that Yuri Luzhkov is/was the poster child for former Soviet Union mafiya-style corruption.
That Hunter Biden received a documented wire transfer - a cash payment, essentially - directly from Luzhkov's corrupt ex-wife, of $3.5 MILLION, is proof positive that the Biden's are running a crime syndicate.
And the media suppressed this story last October in order to get these deoraved, corrupt family and its treasonous head dolt into the presidency.

Another revelation was that the ballots were unfolded and printed on a different paper than the regular absentee ballots, according to Fredericks. Video at link
Joe Biden's pick to head the ATF David Chipman was confronted by Republican senators during his confirmation hearing Wednesday
They excoriated the nominee on his definition of assault weapons, refusing to commit to investigate Hunter Biden and comparing gun owners to Tiger King
Chipman deflected before saying an assault weapon is: 'any semi-automatic rifle capable of accepting a detachable magazine above the caliber of .22'
This would 'include a .223, which is, you know, largely the AR-15 round'
Senator Lee brought up Chipman's April 2020 comments mocking first-time gun owners in the midst of the panic at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic
Said at the time: 'They might think that they're die-hard, ready to go, but unfortunately they're more like Tiger King... putting their family in danger'

[BREITBART] Rep. Liz Cheney ...Faux Republican hereditary congresswoman-for-life from Wyoming. She has been described as Republican royalty. A staunch Never Trumper, Liz supported the second impeachment of Donald Trump for his role in the 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol. Publicans dumped her from her leadership position in May 2021. Refusing to admit that she had trashed her own career, Cheney has said that she intends to be the leader... in a fight to help to restore our party and that she may be interested in a future presidential run.... (R-WY), the embattled former Republican conference chair, during an interview Wednesday with the Wall Street Journal’s "Women, Power and Equity" event, said she sees her "re-election bid as a referendum on the future of the Republican Party." “L'Etat c'est moi”
The Wyoming Republican said voters are "potentially facing a choice between what she sees as traditional conservative values and loyalty to former President Donald Trump ...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party... ." She said she already sees the upcoming 2022 midterm election as being a difficult one for her.
Cheney was ousted by her party from leadership earlier this month for having repeatedly criticized former President Donald Trump for his past statements on the 2020 election. She even went as far as to say she regrets voting for Trump.
Trump himself celebrated at the news of her removal going through, saying "Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being,"
In her interview, she "anticipate[s] it’s going to be a hard-fought race," adding that the race will probably receive a lot of national attention.
She continued to say, "I really do think it’s one that will be a moment where the people of Wyoming can demonstrate to the country our commitment to the Constitution." Cheney believes the race will be "very important in terms of the future of the party and the future of our republic."
Cheney, during the interview, reportedly took time to mention some of the policy issues she believes are important for voters in Wyoming, like "oil and gas leasing on public lands," noting she barely had any policy-related difference with the former president.
Cheney was one of the ten Republicans who voted to impeach Trump. She said, "It became very clear that staying in leadership would require me to perpetuate the lie about the last election, perpetuate the big lie, perpetuate things that are dangerous."
She told the Journal "she hoped Republicans would begin to rally around traditional conservative policy issues like military spending instead of Mr. Trump in the future.

[ZeroHedge] And if you can't believe US intel agencies (cough, Russia, Russia, Russia) then who in government can you believe?
Update (1522ET): Less than 24 hours after CNN threw Biden under the bus for canceling a State Department effort launched under Trump to get to the bottom of the origins of COVID-19, the Biden administration has backpedaled - and has ordered the US intelligence community to conduct a 90-day investigation into how the pandemic began.
In a statement via the White House website, the Biden administration claims that officials have been pursuing various possibilities - including "whether it emerged from human contact with an infected animal or from a laboratory accident," it's clear that the administration is in full damage control mode.
"I have now asked the Intelligence Community to redouble their efforts to collect and analyze information that could bring us closer to a definitive conclusion, and to report back to me in 90 days," said Biden in the announcement.
* * *
The Biden administration pulled the plug on a Trump-era State Department investigation into whether COVID-19 originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, according to a Tuesday evening report by CNN.
The effort, led by then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, also sought to determine whether China's biological weapons program may have played a role in the pandemic. According to the report, it was met with internal opposition from officials who thought it was simply a politicized witch hunt to blame China for the virus.
According to three unnamed sources, when Biden was briefed on the investigations' findings in February and March, he pulled the plug - and instead opted to trust the findings of the World Health Organization, which conducted an 'investigation' earlier this year which turned out to be nothing more than political theater, the cast of which included the highly conflicted Peter Daszak, the Fauci-funded virologist who was studying bat viruses at the Wuhan lab.
"The way they did their work was suspicious as hell," said one former State Department official who (we're guessing was rooting for team Schiff during Trump's impeachment).

I wonder if the Biden Admin has a staff of employees paid to take a bullet for the team when needed. Easy pay until the day, then vilified for a news cycle or two until you eventually write a book or wash up on MSNBC as a contributor.
[SPIKED-ONLINE] Since entering the White House, Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. We get to suffer the consequences... and his fellow Democrats have talked incessantly about racial ’equity’. On his first day in office, in fact, Biden signed an Executive Order on ’Advancing Racial Equity’. For those not paying close attention, it is possible to think that this notion of equity is synonymous with equality. But it is becoming clearer by the day that equity means the opposite of equal treatment and opportunity — it’s a new form of racial discrimination.
Lori Lightfoot ...the diminutive and vacuous Heronner da Mare of Chicago. When the corpse count rises she blames the guns, which are banned anyway... , the mayor of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... , provides the latest example of a Democratic politician deploying ’equity’ to reward some racial groups and punish others. Last week she said she would not conduct interviews with white news hounds. ’I will be exclusively providing one-on-one interviews with journalists of colour’, she said. Lightfoot said this is a protest against ’the overwhelming whiteness and maleness of Chicago media outlets, editorial boards, the political press corps, and yes, the City Hall press corps specifically’.
Politicians granting access to favoured journalists is nothing new. But granting access to particular racial groups is something else entirely. What if a white politician announced that he was only going to talk to white journalists? All hell would break loose, and rightly so. It is repellent to think that skin colour should be the basis of how we treat people in society and professional life. But thanks to the Democrats’ promotion of ’equity’, racial discrimination is making a comeback.
Worse still, this is being cheered on by the media. Maudlyne Ihejirika, a news hound for the Chicago Sun-Times, defended Lightfoot: ’If a mayor of the third-largest city wants to step up at this time in history and say, "Here is my effort, here was my reparative measure to address the media sector", what is the big deal? I say kudos.’ The TRiiBE, a black-oriented media platform based in Chicago, said the real outrage was the criticism of Lightfoot. ’With this outrage, y’all are implying that black and brown journalists aren’t capable of asking the hard questions’, it tweeted.
You would have thought Lightfoot would have bigger issues to address than journalists’ skin colour, given the parlous situation in Chicago. Killings were up by more than 50 per cent in 2020, and are accelerating at a similar pace so far this year. Last weekend, at least 43 people were shot across Chicago, 12 of them fatally. The dead included a 15-year-old boy who was shot in the head while sitting on the front porch of his home.

With the left, everything is about lowest common denominator - except for the ruling class. Their idea of equity is for you and me to be as dumb, atavistic, maladjusted and economically hobbled as all the "favored minority and victim" groups.
