When Ann Dvorak was an uncredited chorus girl at MGM, she spent most of her off-time soaking up the sun at the beach. This love affair with the Pacific Ocean would last her entire life, and she ultimately resided in both Malibu and Honolulu.
One sunny day in 1931, MGM photographer Clarence Sinclair Bull accompanied Ann and an0ther contract player to the sandy shores and snapped some publicity shots. Seven decades later one of these photos, provocatively showing the women with their tops pulled down and backs facing the camera was published on a mass produced postcard. While Ann was correctly credited on the postcard, the other gal in the photo was erroneously listed as Raquel Torres. In fact, the other bathing beauty was Marjorie King.
[KhaamaPress] Afghan army’s 217th Pamir corps in a released statement on Wednesday said 62 ANDSF and civilians were freed from Taliban ...Arabic for students... prison during a special operation in Baghlan province.

According to Nazari at least four Talibs were killed, all of the four killed bandidos Death Eaters used to guard the prison.

[EN.ALGHADEERTV.NET] Mali’s interim president and prime minister resigned on Wednesday, two days after they were arrested by the military, an aide to the vice president said, deepening a political crisis and potentially setting up a standoff with international powers.
President Bah Ndaw and Prime Minister Moctar Ouane were taken to a military base outside the capital on Monday after a cabinet reshuffle in which two officers lost their posts.
The intervention led by Vice President Assimi Goita has jeopardised Mali’s transition back to democracy after a coup in August overthrew former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita. It has provoked international condemnation and raised fears that a political crisis in Bamako could affect regional security.
Goita, a colonel, also orchestrated last year’s coup. He has promised that elections planned for next year will go ahead.
"The president and his prime minister have resigned. Negotiations are ongoing for their liberation and the formation of a new government," said Baba Cisse, an aide to Goita, in comments sent by the military to Media.
The resignations came as a delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) visited Mali to press the military to back down.
During a meeting late on Tuesday with Goita, the delegation, led by former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan ... 14th President of Nigeria. He was Governor of Bayelsa State from 9 December 2005 to 28 May 2007, and was sworn in as Vice President on 29 May 2007. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He is a lover of nifty hats, which makes him easily recognizable unless someone else in the room is wearing a neat chapeau.Other than that he's pretty useless as the Boko Haram debacle shows.. , raised the possibility of sanctions against the officers responsible for the takeover, according to a military official who was present.
It had been due to meet Ndaw and Ouane on Wednesday, but it was not immediately clear if that had happened.
It is not clear if ECOWAS would be satisfied with a replacement president and prime minister, or if it will insist on Ndaw and Ouane being reinstated. ECOWAS and other powers want a civilian-led transition to democracy to continue.
ECOWAS imposed sanctions, including border closures, on Mali after the coup in August before lifting them when Goita’s junta agreed to an 18-month, civilian-led transition.
Other sanctions could follow. Emmanuel Macron, president of former colonial power La Belle France, said on Tuesday he was prepared to impose targeted sanctions over what he called "a coup within a coup". The European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... ’s foreign policy chief also threatened sanctions.
Mali’s neighbours and international powers fear the crisis could further destabilise a country that Islamist groups linked to al Qaeda and Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... have used as a launchpad for attacks across the region.
Goita defended his actions on Tuesday, saying the president and prime minister had violated the transitional charter by failing to consult him about the new cabinet.
He also accused the government of mishandling social tensions in Mali, including a strike last week by the main union. The union said on Tuesday it would suspend the strike in light of the political crisis.

Suspected Islamist militants killed at least 22 civilians with knives and machetes in an overnight raid on villages near the town of #Beni in the eastern Democratic Republic of #Congo, a local official said on Wednesday.https://t.co/0qXMPmwACu
— Alghadeer English (@alghadeertv_eng) May 26, 2021
Jean-Paul Katembo, head of the Bulongo commune, said the known death toll stood at 22, including women and children. Several more villagers are believed to have been kidnapped, he said, blaming the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF),
...the ADF is one of several murderous Moslem groups in NE Congo. In 2019 the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on them for the usual reasons. They don't appear to be affiliated with al-Qaeda or Islamic State, though ISIS claims their work from time to time — they just like killing infidels...
a Ugandan militia active in eastern Congo since the 1990s.
More than 1,200 civilians have been killed in Beni territory since November 2019, according to the Kivu Security Tracker, when the army launched an operation aimed at ending the ADF’s insurgency.
The offensive uprooted the ADF from its bases and it split into smaller groups, but the armed group responded by stepping up reprisal attacks against civilians.
On May 17 Uganda announced it had agreed to share intelligence and coordinate operations against the rebels, but that it would not be deploying troops in Congo.
[EN.ALGHADEERTV.NET] A mayoral candidate has been killed in Mexico, bringing to 34 the total number of candidates murdered nationwide ahead of June 6 legislative elections that will fill thousands of local seats and nearly half of the country’s governors.
Alma Barragan was rubbed out on Tuesday, local media reported, while campaigning for the mayorship of the city of Moroleon in the violence-plagued state of Guanajuato in central Mexico. Two other people were reportedly injured.
On Wednesday, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said the killing was "without doubt" the work of organised criminal gangs who were killing candidates to scare voters away from the polls.
"When there is a lot of abstentionism, the mafias dominate the elections," Lopez Obrador said during his daily news conference.
Experts say narco gangs want to place sympathetic candidates in town halls and city governments, so they can operate without interference from police and extort money from local businesses and government budgets.
They also say violence during elections is not new.
"There’s always been violence with elections and electoral cycles especially at the mayoral level where you really see things get heated, but this time it feels like it’s way more than ordinary," said Gladys McCormick, a history professor at Syracuse University and expert on security.
"It’s a testament of the influence of organised crime with these local elections trying to sway the institutions," McCormick said, "organised crime has infiltrated municipalities, law enforcement at the municipal levels," she said. "This is working its way up."
Tony Payan, director of the Center for the United States and Mexico at the Baker Institute, said the June 6 election is particularly crucial for organised criminal groups, as it will select hundreds of mayorship positions across the country.
"This election is being perceived by organised crime as a way to consolidate their gains and then advance their control of territories, cities, towns, and neighbourhoods," Payan said.
"Organised crime is fully engaged in this election," Payan said, "they are killing and kidnapping candidates and extorting money from candidates, even asking certain candidates to step down because they understand who can be their ally and who can be controlled once they get into local government."
The Etellekt consulting firm said the overwhelming majority of the 34 slain candidates were vying for nominations or running for local posts. The group says in total 88 politicians have been assassinated since the start of the election season last year.
[NYPOST] Militant protesters marked the anniversary of George Floyd’s murder with yet another riot in Portland, Oregon — smashing up local businesses and trying to burn down the city’s Justice Center, according to police.
More than 200 rioters — most fully clad in black and many wearing gas masks — trashed the troubled City of Roses soon after a peaceful march ended late Tuesday, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).
Some of the mob tried to torch the Multnomah County Justice Center by pushing flaming dumpsters against the building as at least two people tried to pry open the doors and get inside, the force said.
"People chanted to burn the building down," the force said, noting how many used umbrellas to hide their illegal activities.

No finer way to honor St George, is there?
Shove some fentanyl up your bum, take some meth, and go on a crime spree.
Think of it as like those Spanish Holy Week processions in which Los Penitentes flagellate themselves -- except the violence is directed outward.
Now do you understand the Church of the Holy Grift that is BLM?

I can see this becoming an annual celebration, like Cinco de Mayo, or whatever day it was that guy tried to blow up Parliment. Dear Friends, join us today as we get really, really high and set the ceremonial Dumpster of our Lives on fire.

Well, Skunky nails it: this has been a colossal mind-Fawkes.
The scumbag violent felon, we're told, was a saint.
The cretin with a heart ailment who courted death with a febranyl-meth cocktail, we're told, was an innocent victim.
The berserker who actively resisted arrested -- even though he had a severe heart condition and 64% blocked arteries -- we are told, was a victim of "police brutality."
The suicidal maniac who otherwise would have strode into traffic on the busiest street in the precinct, we are told, was cruelly deprived of his rights.
The useless piece of shit who ruined his own family and nearly destroyed a pregnant mother's family, including her unborn child -- we're told -- was Humanity's Hope, a beacon of light for the world.
F--k these assholes.
To hell with you and your lies.
To hell with your satanic monster. The world is a better place for his having expelled himself from it.
[EN.ALGHADEERTV.NET] Iraqi security forces closed the roads leading to the heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad, Wednesday, prevented the civilians from entering the area without an official ID.
"The security forces closed the roads leading to the security-fortified Green Zone and prevented citizens from entering it," indicating that "the forces only allow holders of the official ID to enter it." Without mentioning the reasons that led to this measure, a security source told al-Ghadeer website.
[AlAhram] Iraqi police arrested a bigwig in an Iran-backed gang Wednesday on suspicion of orchestrating the murder of a prominent pro-democracy activist, a security source told AFP.
Qasem Muslah,
...more formally Qassem Mahmoud Karim Musleh, sometimes called Hajj al-Qaied...
a commander in the state-sponsored Hashed al-Shaabi paramilitary coalition, is the first high-ranking official in the powerful group to have been arrested in relation to a wave of murders of freedom fighters and journalists that started in 2019.
"At dawn in Baghdad, police intelligence arrested Qasem Muslah, Popular Mobilisation Forces (Hashed) operations chief for Anbar province, who gave the order to kill Ihab al-Wazni on May 9 and another activist Fahim al-Taie in December 2019," the security source said.
"We initially had clues about the perpetrators of the murders and verification allowed us to identify with certainty the person who was behind these criminal operations," the source added.
Anti-government campaigner Wazni was rubbed out outside his home by men on cycle of violences using a gun equipped with a silencer early on May 9 in the holy shrine city of Karbala, sending protest movement supporters onto the streets to demand an end to such bloodshed and official impunity.
Wazni had for many years criticised Iraqi gangs and Iran's influence in the country, leading protests in Karbala, where pro-Tehran gangs hold major sway.
Killings, attempted murder and abductions have targeted more than 70 activists since a protest movement erupted against government corruption and incompetence in 2019.
Authorities have consistently failed to publicly identify or charge the perpetrators of the killings, which have not been claimed.
Activists have repeatedly blamed Iran-linked gangs and are convinced the perpetrators are known by security forces but have not been arrested out of fear of Iran, despite government pledges to act.
Directly after Muslah's arrest security forces barred entry to the high-security Green Zone in the heart of the capital over concerns of reprisals.
The Hashed had quickly issued a statement vowing Muslah "would be released in the coming hours".
Several thousand people protested in Baghdad on Tuesday to demand justice over the deadly attacks on activists and journalists.
Two protesters were rubbed out and 150 people were maimed -- the majority security forces -- during the rallies, tweeted Ali al-Bayati, a member of the Iraqi government's human rights When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much... commission.
After the protests, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi vowed to open an investigation "to establish the truth of what happened" at the demonstration.

Very nice, but it's not to mean Western universities can keep producing them, for Israel to keep whacking them down. Just another family empowered by the serial folly embedded into egalitarian conventions and empty theories of justice.
Training Arabs to fly airliners, letting them study rocketry, law, finance... it's all a pattern of cascading folly whichever way one looks at it.
In societies believed to be less elevated thinkers, an unspoken policy of selective denial of opportunity is observed. Not as much as China, but we keep the funny beards and names from careers and prospects which they may misuse. To which we receive much flak from the western media but fcuk 'em.
Professor Jamal received his university education in Virginia, USA, obtained a doctorate in civil aviation and studied the engine of the F-16 fighter plane, then worked at NASA space agency, before returning to Gaza to champion the Palestinian cause, according to Al Jazeera.
Al-Zebda worked in secret under the eyes of a resistance commander called Muhammad Deif to develop its military capabilities, heading a group of local engineers and experts, working day and night to turn the scarce resources in the Gaza Strip into advanced tools facing the occupation army.

Got to get all the other western countries to stop teaching them too dron. As I recall several of the 9/11 hijackers studied engineering in Hamburg.

[EN.ALGHADEERTV.NET] One person was killed and two others were left injured after a kaboom in a pipeline used by petrochemical plants in the port of Asaluyeh, located on the southwestern Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf.
Local authorities in the province of Bushehr said that they had launched an investigation into the incident that took place earlier in the day on the oxygen pipeline run by Mobin Petrochemicals.
Mobile camera footage circulating on social media showed bystanders watching a thick black plume of smoke rising into the sky of Assaluyah. People could be heard in the video saying that the earth-shattering kaboom was related to Mobin.
Mobin is one of the main providers of utility services to petrochemical plants in Asaluyeh, a port where some of Iran’s largest petroleum installations are based.
The oxygen pipeline that went kaboom! on Wednesday was for the transfer of oxygen from Mobin to two petrochemical plants in the region, according to local officials.
Now the new information:
However, a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all... Mobin’s PR office said the facility had not been involved in the incident, adding that all units in the plant were operating normally.
Asaluyeh governor Abdolnabbi Yusefi said that the oxygen pipeline explosion had been caused by welding work.
Yusefi said two people injured in the earth-shattering kaboom had been transferred to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for burns.
Non-fatal incidents have been reported in the Iranian oil and gas facilities in recent weeks amid a new heatwave affecting the southern provinces of the country.
Temperatures in Asaluyeh surged to 47 degrees Celsius (116 F) on Wednesday as reported by the official IRNA news agency citing data from the local meteorological department in Bushehr.

[NPASYRIA] On Wednesday, the Syrian government forces targeted the opposition sites in northwest Syria with artillery shells and rocket launchers.
The government forces bombed the towns of Ghab Plain in the western countryside of Hama, military sources from the opposition said.
The bombing targeted the towns and villages of Zawiya Mountain in the southern countryside of Idlib, especially the towns of Kansafra, al-Fatira and al-Bara, the sources added.
The bombing coincided with intense flight of Russian warplanes and drones over the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Latakia and Aleppo.
