[World News] A suspected rhino poacher was trampled to death by a herd of breeding elephants as he fled authorities along with two alleged accomplices in South Africa’s Kruger National Park (KNP).
The three were spotted by field rangers out on routine patrol, the park said in a statement, when they came upon the trio. The alleged poachers dropped an axe and a bag full of provisions and started running, the statement said.
They ran straight into "a breeding herd of elephants," the park said.
One of the three was found and arrested and told police he wasn’t sure whether his accomplice had escaped the elephants. As it turned out, he hadn’t.
"The Rangers discovered his accomplice badly trampled and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries," the park said. "The third suspect is said to have been injured in the eye but continued to flee."

A deeply satisfying report. It gives us hope for all earth, the harmony of all things, and the inevitability of good winning over evil. It would've been so much better if they trampled him, shuffled him about as he moaned, and shat on him in his final moments before high fiving and stomping away.

I can imagine, that if they're anything like other herd animals, that the elephants (both male and female - because that's still okay to call them those genders in elephant society), the 'Herd Agitation Level' is pretty high and pretty easily spooked into a stampede.

Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41 — who is still being sought in the deadly shooting spree in Austin — retired from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office last year after being charged and jailed for allegedly molesting the girl, the Austin American-Statements reported.
Broderick was arrested by US Marshals on June 6, three days after the teenager reported that he assaulted her in a home in Elgin, Texas, the newspaper said at the time.
Broderick was ordered held on $100,000 bail in the case and placed on administrative leave without pay, the American-Statements said Sunday.
Broderick’s wife filed for divorce and obtained an order of protection after his arrest, according to court records reviewed by the outlet.

[11ALIVE] A man fatally shot by police, Wednesday, was shot inside his own home, said DeKalb County PD Chief Mirtha Ramos.
Police released body camera video on Friday showing officers pleading at length with 35-year-old Matthew Williams to drop his knife.
It was an incident where the very premise of the 911 call was flawed, according to the body camera video and information provided by Chief Ramos.

[PIX11] Two people, including a 16-year-old male, have been arrested in the shooting of a 1-year-old in Newark Monday, police said.Police had initially said that the child was 2 years old but in a blurb Saturday, stated that the victim was a 1-year-old.
The infant, two other teenagers and an adult male were in a vehicle Monday in the area of 14th Avenue and South 6th Street when the child’s mother got into a dispute with the 16-year-old which Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara called "senseless."
Detectives arrested the 16-year-old after seeing video footage of him firing at the child’s mother, Tytaneisha Wilder of East Orange, who initially pointed a handgun at the group she was arguing with.
Wilder’s handgun was found on April 12 and she was later arrested. She faces three charges of child endangerment, aggravated assault and two counts unlawful possession of a weapon. The 16-year-old faces five counts of aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
"Our detectives have determined that this was a targeted incident. Unfortunately, a child has become a victim, Director O’Hara said on Monday when the shooting took place. "Thankfully, it appears she will recover from her injuries and there is no danger to the community."

[France24] Hubert Faure, one of the last surviving members of a French commando team which took part in the 1944 Normandy landings, has died aged 106, with President Emmanuel Macron leading the tributes on Saturday.
Macron expressed "the gratitude of the nation" and sent his condolences to Faure's family in a statement, saying the former navy commando provided "a wonderful lesson in commitment and heroism".
Faure was one of 177 French-led commandos who landed on the Normandy beaches on "D-Day" on June 6, 1944 in the first wave of Allied landings in Nazi-occupied France, the largest seaborne invasion in history.
As part of the "Keiffer Commandos", named after the unit's head Lieutenant Philippe Kieffer, one of the first French fighters to join Charles de Gaulle's Free France resistance movement, Faure landed on the beach at Colleville in northern France.
The only French soldiers to be involved in the D-Day landings, they achieved their objective of securing German fortifications at Ouistreham before joining up with Allied forces to drive on further. Ten of their number were dead by the end of the day.
"They were the soul of our nation," said the armed forces ministry in a statement announcing Faure's death which leaves just one living member of the Kieffer Commandos, 98-year-old Leon Gautier.
Faure had been imprisoned in 1940 but escaped and reached England where he joined the Free French Forces.
There, in the spring of 1944 he joined the 1st Battalion Marine Commando Fusiliers, which became better known as the "Keiffer Commandos".
It took another 75 years before a statue of Keiffer, who died in 1962, was erected in Ouistreham.
Some of the survivors of his commando group waited until 2004, the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings, to receive the Legion of Honour, France's highest award.

The decision can still be appealed. The defendants in the case were three companies, including the Irish Google Ireland Limited, the American Google LLC and the Russian Google LLC, reports IA REGNUM .
Before the account was blocked, the company's service was provided on the basis of an account agreement for the provision of the Google Ad Manager Small Business service dated December 30, 2019. The court declared invalid the refusal of the defendants from this agreement. The judge also left without consideration the application of Google LLC (USA) to leave the claim without consideration.
The defendants were ordered to restore access to the account. If the decision is not executed within five days from the date of entry into force, the defendants will be jointly and severally charged in favor of the plaintiff with a “ court forfeit in the amount of 100,000 rubles for each day of non-execution of the judicial act, starting from the sixth day from the date of entry into force of the judicial act until its actual execution, subject to a weekly increase in the amount of daily calculated judicial forfeit by two times . "
Recall that the case has been heard since August 2020 and may become a precedent for the owners of accounts on video hosting who have fallen under the knife for no good reason.

This bridge spanning several hundred yards had to be secured to prevent the Germans from sending reinforcements to Utah Beach to crush the Allied beachhead. On June 6, 1944, elements of the 82nd secured the western portion of the bridge, a causeway over fields the Germans deliberately flooded to hamper an invading force. Small bands of lightly armed paratroopers battled against the German tanks as they spearheaded an attack on the fragile American beachhead. Legendary battlefield WWII combat historian S.L.A. Marshall described the operation as “the one attended by the greatest difficulty and hardships of the individual assemblies … these conditions so frequently brought forth the finest characteristics of the American soldier.”
Eventually, the 82nd launched a daring assault into the heart of German defenses to seize the entire bridge. But first the 82nd had to hold the western edge of Le Fière at all costs.
Paratrooper Marcus Heim of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment stared down several German panzers that rolled across the causeway in an attempt to reach the beachhead.
“All that afternoon the Germans kept shelling our position. Around 5:00 in the afternoon the Germans started the attack. Two tanks with infantry on each side, and in the rear following them was a third tank with more infantry following it. As the lead tank started around the curve in the road, the tank commander stood up in the turret to take a look. From the left our machine gun let loose a burst and killed the commander. At the same time the bazookas, 57 millimeter and everything else we had were firing at the Germans. They in turn were shooting at us with cannons, mortars, machine guns, and rifle fire.
“Lenold Peterson and I (the loader), in the forward position got out of our foxhole and stood behind the telephone pole, so we could get a better shot at the tanks. We had to hold our fire until the last minute because some of the tree branches along the causeway were blocking our view. The first tank was hit and started to turn sideways and at the same time was swinging the turret around and firing at us. We had just moved forward around the cement telephone pole when a German shell hit it. We had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit as it was falling.
“I was hoping that Bolderson and Pryne were also firing at the tanks. For with all that was happening in front of us, there was not time to look around to see what others were doing. We kept firing at the first tank until it was put out of action and on fire. The second tank came up and pushed the first tank out of the way. We moved forward toward the second tank and fired at it as fast as I could load the rockets in the bazooka. We kept firing at the second tank, and we hit it in the turret where it is connected to the body, also in the track, and with another hit it also went up in flames.
“Peterson and I were almost out of rockets, and the third tank was still moving. Peterson asked me to go back across the road and see if Bolderson had any extra rockets. I ran across the road, and with all the crossfire I still find it hard to believe I made it to the other side in one piece. When I got to the other side, I found one dead soldier, and Bolderson and Pryne were gone. Their bazooka was lying on the ground, and it was damaged by what I thought were bullet holes. Not finding Bolderson or Pryne, I presumed that either one or both were injured. I found the rockets they left and then had to return across the road to where I left Peterson.
“The Germans were still firing at us, and I was lucky again. I returned without being hit. Peterson and I put the new found rockets to use on the third tank. After that one was put out of action, the Germans pulled back to Cauquigny and continued shelling us for the rest of the night. They also tried two other counter attacks on our position, which also failed.”
