Marvel Rea
Marvel Luciel Rea (November 9, 1901 - June 17, 1937) was an American silent film actress best known for her work aside Ford Sterling. She was one of Mack Sennett's "Bathing Beauties".
On September 2, 1936, while walking down 107th Street and Compton Avenue in Los Angeles, California, three young men offered to take Rea to her home in East 107th Street. When she refused, they attacked Rea, threw her into a large red truck, and transported her to a eucalyptus grove at 120th Street and Compton Avenue,[4] South Los Angeles.[5] She was thrown to the ground, beaten and assaulted with glass bottles. She was then raped by each of the men in turn. During the attack, Rea suffered a seizure and was left by the men semiconscious. It took her four hours to recover enough to get help.
The three suspects were apprehended and questioned by Los Angeles Police Department, and were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and attack, though they all denied their charges.[4] In January 1937, the three young truck drivers unsuccessfully requested a new trial on charges that they attacked Rea. They gave oral notice of appeal in Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Frank M. Smith's court. The three were sentenced to prison terms of from one to fifty years.[6] In 1939 the three men were released from prison on technicalities regarding their trials, after serving only three years.
Death
Rea committed suicide by ingesting ant paste. She died on June 17, 1937 in Los Angeles. She is buried at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach, California with her family. Her death certificate lists her as Marvel L. Wilkinson but she is buried under the name Marvel Luciel Rea.

[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian media identify the man as Osama Mahmoud Mansour, 42; IDF says couple attempted to commit a car-ramming attack, but wife says they left home to run an errand. "1) Pick up hummus, 2) Ram Jooos,..."
Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Paleostinian man in the West Bank early Tuesday morning in what the Israeli military deemed an attempted ramming attack, an account disputed by Paleostinian witnesses.
"IDF soldiers thwarted a car-ramming incident overnight during an operation in Bir Nabala," the IDF said in a statement, referring to a town northeast of Jerusalem.
Paleostinian media identified the man as Osama Mahmoud Mansour, 42, a resident of the West Bank town of Biddu, close to Jerusalem. His wife rejected the Israeli military’s account and said the couple had simply gone to run an errand.
"There were two army vehicles and some soldiers. They asked us to stop, so we stopped. There were a number of cars with us as well [at the roadblock]. We turned off the car. They told us to go, so we fired up the car and began heading out. Then they hit us with bullets," his wife — whose name has not yet been published — told official Paleostinian TV.
The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry said Mansour said the man was brought at death's door to the Paleostine Medical Complex in Ramallah but died of his wounds. Mansour’s wife was also injured, according to the Health Ministry.
"[After Mansour was shot] the car began veering to the left. He looked like he had just gone to sleep. I started driving and pulled the car over until we found some young men who could get us to a hospital," Mansour’s wife said.
The army said that soldiers were manning a roadblock that was set up in order to enable other forces in the area to operate without interruption from passing traffic.
Soldiers at the checkpoint identified a car that stopped at the checkpoint and "suddenly accelerated toward another group of soldiers operating in the area," endangered the lives of the troops, the army said.
The incident came amid an uptick in violence in the West Bank in recent weeks, with an increasing number of rock-throwing attacks and Molotov cocktailings along highways as well as a number of attacks on Paleostinians.
Last week IDF soldiers arrested a Paleostinian man who allegedly tried to ram a group of soldiers near the West Bank settlement of Ma’ale Adumim. The vehicle instead hit several other Israeli vehicles and the suspect was arrested. There were no injuries reported in the incident, at the parking lot of the Ein Mabu’a nature reserve. The military said the incident appeared to be a terror attack, but did not seem to rule out the possibility it had been an accident.
Earlier in March, a Paleostinian man tried to stab an Israeli soldier during an overnight operation in the West Bank village of Tubas and was shot by another soldier.

[AnNahar] Israel carried out a missile attack near the Syrian capital of Damascus and its southern suburbs early Thursday that maimed four soldiers, Syria's state media said.
State news agency, SANA, quoted an unidentified military official as saying that Syrian air defenses were able to shoot down most of the missiles before they hit their targets. SANA said some of the missiles were fired by Israeli warplanes flying over neighboring Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... The strikes also caused "some material damage."
The source did not provide details on the targets.
The strikes near the capital "destroyed a weapons depot likely used by the Lebanese Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... militia," among other Iran-backed groups, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
"It also killed three ... Iran-backed militia fighters," said the monitor.
The Observatory said it could not determine their nationalities but that they were all non-Syrians.
Al-Manar TV of Lebanon's Hizbullah said one of the Syrian air defense missiles went kaboom! near the Lebanon-Syria border and was heard in parts of southern Lebanon. It later said the missile crashed near the Lebanese border village of Houla.
