[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] A big shot of Egypt's Moslem Brüderbund was convicted on terror charges and sentenced Thursday to life in prison, months after he was detained in a Cairo apartment.
According to the Middle East News Agency, a Cairo court found Mahmoud Ezzat, the acting supreme guide of the Brotherhood, guilty of terror acts that followed the 2013 military overthrow of president Mohammed Morsi.
In August, 76-year-old Ezzat was arrested after police found him hiding in an apartment in Cairo’s Fifth Settlement district.
According to authorities at the time, a search of the apartment uncovered computers and mobile phones with encrypted software that allowed Ezzat to communicate with group members in Egypt and abroad. Documents with "destructive plans" were also found, police said.
Ezzat was named the group’s acting leader in August 2013 after Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie’s arrest. He was convicted of several terror-related crimes and sentenced twice to death in absentia.
Following his arrest, he was retried, as Egyptian law dictates.

[All Africa] The military operation was launched after some button men killed three coppers in the area. Many people have been reportedly killed during a military operation on Tuesday in a community in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria's South-south.
The Nigerian military carried out aerial bombardment in the community - Ntak Ikot Akpan - which it said was targeted at miscreants who attacked and killed some coppers in the local government area recently.
The police, last week, confirmed that three of their officers were killed, while four were missing in the area.
The Nigerian Army said on Wednesday that those killed during the military operation were 'hoodlums.' It did not, however, mention the number of people killed in the operation.
"The operation was successfully executed and resulted in the dislodgment of the criminals while fleeing hoodlums were neutralised by the Air Component," the army spokesperson, Mohammed Yerima, a brigadier general, said in a statement.
Mr Yerima said normality has been restored in the area, and that people could now go about their businesses.
The identity of those behind the attack on the security agents and why they did it remained unknown as of the time of this report.
A police spokesperson in Akwa Ibom, Odiko MacDon, did not mention those responsible for the attack in a statement he issued on the incident.
The cause of the attack, he said, was unknown.
"Whereas the remote and immediate causes of these unprovoked attacks are unknown, a discreet investigation is on the way to unravel the same and seek a lasting solution," he said.
The army statement also did not mention who was behind the attack on the police, apart from saying that some miscreants were trying to perpetuate crimes in the area.

The corpse count from violence that erupted during the weekend in Sudan’s Darfur region has climbed to 87, according to a local medical group that also reported attacks on healthcare workers in the area.
The Sudanese doctors’ committee in West Darfur said it had counted at least 37 more fatalities on Wednesday, bringing the number of people killed since Saturday to 87. At least 191 people were maimed.

"Fighting ensued between the Arab Rizeigat and the Masalit tribes, with both mobilising armed men.
The unrest poses a challenge to efforts by Sudan’s transitional government to end decades-long rebellions in areas such as Darfur, where conflict often falls along ethnic lines."
"Often falls" should be replaced by "almost always falls" along ethnic lines.
An attack this week on an Iranian fat merchantman that is said to serve as a floating base for Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard forces off the coast of Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... has escalated a yearslong shadow war in Mideast waters. The development comes just as world powers are negotiating over Tehran's tattered nuclear deal.
The assault on the MV Saviz on Tuesday appears to have caused the most-extensive damage yet in this shadow war, seemingly between Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... and Israel - and one that could further escalate regional tensions. Attacks and counterattacks between the two nations could spin out of control.
Since at least 2019, there have been a series of mysterious attacks on vessels, typically with limpet mines attached by a special forces diver to a ship's hull. The attacks came at a time of mounting tensions between Iran and the United States over then-President Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... 's decision to unilaterally pull out of the atomic accord.
The U.S. Navy blamed a series of blasts in June 2019 in the Gulf of Oman off the coast of the United Arab Emirates on Iran. Video after one blast showed Revolutionary Guard troops removing an unwent kaboom! limpet mine from one targeted ship, something never fully explained by Tehran.
Who planted the first explosive in this conflict remains unclear. Iranian vessels similarly have suffered mysterious incidents at sea, with the first public case involving an Iranian oil tanker in May 2019. As time went on, Iran began acknowledging attacks on its own vessels, as recently as a kaboom onboard a fat merchantman in the Mediterranean Sea in March. There's yet to be a clear accounting of all the ships struck.

They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him... explosives-laden drone fired in the direction of the Kingdom's southern city of Khamis Mushait. The Coalition said it will take all measures to protect civilians in accordance with international law.

[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] On April 5, Albion College students tweeted that "there have been more than 12 racist incidents within the past week" at the educational institution.
This graffiti, which included messages such as "white lives matter" and "white power," turned out to have been allegedly created by a 21-year-old black male.
This person also is said to have written such messages as "666" on top of a Star of David, alongside "let's kill all N*****."
The Albion police brought said male into questioning, where he admitted to doing most of the graffiti. This student was released after questioning. It is unclear whether any charges will be brought against this student.
Images of the racist graffiti quickly went viral across social media platforms, with one local outlet posting the story accompanied with pictures that they censored "due to it being so offensive."

BTW: NOTE: Robert Dunklin, president of the Albion NAACP.
"We want the Black students, and all students on campus, to know that our NAACP branch will not tolerate this example of racially motivated hatred,"
So will Mr. Dunklin of the local N2ACP go after this 21 y/o Black Student to the same extent as if he was a White student?
Note: In attempts to trace the students name .... I see the media is applying a double standard and being racially bias. Because unlike when a WHITE STUDENT is caught being a DumbA$$ Racist and his name is plastered worldwide. I can't seem to note the same standard being applied to this BLACK STUDENT.
INTERESTING FACTOID:
The website that was track Fake Hate Crimes
fakehatecrimes-org was delisted right after adding Smollett Hoax.

Prosecute the kid for the hate crime and kick him out of school. Doesn't matter if it was a hoax or not the chill effect on POC is the same and should be treated the same.
Any school counseling and introspection should be aimed at the issue of hoaxes.

Very common. There's been an epidemic of Wakandan hate crime hoaxes, especially on American campuses, since the Obama era began. The College Fix tracks them and reported a total of 55 between 2012 and 2018. Here are some of the colleges and universities where Wakandan students faked at least one hate crime:
US Air Force Academy
U Chicago
Oberlin College
U Delaware
U Wyoming
Williams College
Montclair State
U Virginia Law School
San Diego State
SUNY-Albany
U Wisconsin
Elon College
Grand Valley State
Sweet Briar College
Yale
Kansas State
U Michigan
... and dozens more.
This is a nationwide epidemic of (fake) hatred. We need to get the CDC to declare it a mental health crisis. Get the FBI on it too.

I think we should be celebrating that fact that a college student of color (CSOC?) is capable of writing a sentence in clear, properly spelled English. OK, they were very short sentences, but still...

Dunno. Last summer's CSOC-hoaxer at Texas A&M seems OK with spelling but struggles mightily with syntax and grammar:
"All three signs were different signs, and one said ‘All lives matter’ and the other said ‘You don’t belong here’, and the other was very explicit, it said the n-word with a hard ‘r’,” Isaih [sic] Martin wrote on Twitter.
Martin strongly denies he’s responsible for the notes, and said he believes the culprit is one of those whom police discounted.
“I’m in a predicament where the topic of the case was let’s find out who did this to them pointing the finger at me,” Martin wrote on Twitter. “In the end, I stopped talking to them because it seemed they were more interested in me getting the blame for this hate crime instead of finding the actual person who did it.”
Why is this not national news as are the attacks in DC?
[Fox4News] (BEDFORD, Texas) A Bedford tactical team took a man into custody overnight after connecting him to the detonation of an "unknown explosive device" Wednesday evening under Forest Ridge Drive, according to officials.
The blast happened around 5 p.m. near a drainage culvert, police said.
They worked with the FBI to investigate the explosion and found a "suspicious item" nearby. The Northeast Fire Department Association Explosive Response Team then destroyed it using a controlled blast around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
The section of Forest Ridge Drive between L. Don Dodson and Bedford Road will be closed until engineers determine if it is safe for drivers to use, according to officials.
Investigators also determined their person on interest had been arrested recently for a similar crime in Hurst.

There is a "Last of the Mozambicans" joke in there somewhere, but I am much too dignified to go rooting for it. Besides, I have no idea how to transliterate Chingachgook to Portuguese.
NYT March 2, 1976LISBON, Feb. 29—Portugal is receiving a new wave of refugees, this time from its formes East African colony of Mozambique.
Unlike the refugees from Angola, the Portuguese from Mozambique are not fleeing civil war but rather the rigors of independence.
For the past month, almost daily flights have brought refugees from Mozambique with litter tales of “persecution,” work camps and now the nationalization of property.
A new airlift that began last week to Windhoek in SouthWest Africa is expected to bring out more than 7,000 Portuguese fleeing continued unrest in southern Angola.
It is estimated that more than half a million refugees have fled the two former colonies to Portugal in the past year, and more are coming.
