WASHINGTON (AP) — Capitol Police say they have uncovered intelligence of a "possible plot" by a militia group to breach the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, nearly two months after a mob of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the iconic building to try to stop Congress from certifying now-President Joe Biden’s victory.
The threat appears to be connected to a far-right conspiracy theory, mainly promoted by supporters of QAnon, that Trump will rise again to power on March 4. That was the original presidential inauguration day until 1933, when it was moved to Jan. 20.
Online chatter identified by authorities included discussions among members of the Three Percenters, an anti-government militia group, concerning possible plots against the Capitol on Thursday, according to two law enforcement officials who were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. Members of the Three Percenters were among the extremists who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.
The announcement comes as the Capitol police and other law enforcement agencies are taking heat from Congress in contentious hearings this week on their handling of the Jan. 6 riot. Police were ill-prepared for the mass of Trump supporters in tactical gear, some armed, and it took hours for National Guard reinforcements to come. By then, rioters had broken and smashed their way into the building and roamed the halls for hours, stalling Congress’ certification effort temporarily and sending lawmakers into hiding.

IMO a ten mile strip off coastal California up to and including San Francisco should be returned to Mexico. New England should be given to the UK. Hawaii should be returned to territorial status or given the same autonomy as Samoa. The political center of the US government should be located near the center of the US. In a statement, the embassy said that it was able to confirm the location of the remains of the four Filipinos in a cemetery in the eastern coastal city of Derna. The four have been missing since they were kidnapped along with two coworkers from Austria and the Czech Republic by IS bad boys, as they attacked the Ghani Oil Field in southern Libya on 6 March 2015.
Embassy Chargé d’Affaires and Head of Mission Elmer G. Cato said nothing much had been heard from the kidnapped foreign oil workers until two years later, when a video showing their execution was found in a laptop seized from slain IS fighters in Derna.
According to the embassy, the six were employed by the Austrian contractor Value Added Oil Services (VAOS), had been presumed dead although their bodies were never recovered.
In 2018, Cato said that the embassy was informed that the remains of the four missing Filipinos could be among those recovered by the Libyan Red Islamic Thingy in Derna. Due to the unstable security situation, the embassy was not able to send a team to Derna to search for its nationals.
In October, embassy officials were able to travel to Benghazi and request the assistance of the authorities in finding the remains. On Tuesday morning, Libyan military authorities led the embassy officials to the Dahr Ahmar Islamic Cemetery 10 kilometers from Derna, where they said Donato Santiago, Gregorio Titan, Roldan Blaza, and Wilson Eligue were buried after their bodies were recovered six years ago.
The embassy explained that Libyan Red Islamic Thingy volunteers were part of the team that retrieved and later buried the remains of the six, as well as another volunteer who oversaw burials at the Dahr Ahmar cemetery. It noted that the volunteers were convinced that the bodies they buried there belonged to the six kidnapped foreign oil workers.
Cato said that the Office of Migrant Workers Affairs (OMWA) has conveyed the latest development to their families in the Philippines, and will make arrangements for forensics experts to assist in identifying the remains and transport them home.

[LIBYAREVIEW] On Tuesday, Libya’s new executive authority called on UN experts to publish the results of the investigation into corruption and bribery over the alleged vote-buying at the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF).
A leaked report of UN experts noted that two participants allegedly offered bribes of between $150,000-200,000 US dollars to at least three LPDF participants, if they promised to vote for Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba as PM.
According to the report, seen by AFP, the experts said that one delegate "erupted in anger in a hotel lobby in Tunis upon hearing that some participants may have received up to ... $500,000 for their Dbaiba vote, whereas he had only received $200,000."
The Presidential Council and the PM said in a joint press statement that they "demand the Panel of Experts (PoE) to publish its investigation into the allegations of bribery at the LPDF."
The statement added that they "affirm their commitment to fight corruption by all legal means, and will punish anyone involved in the alleged corruption."
Dbaiba and the PC confirmed that they would not allow those they described as "obstructers" to "exploit the current circumstances, thwart the results of the dialogue, and disrupt the reconciliation process."
The LPDF consists of 75 delegates representing the wide spectrum of Libya’s population was launched in November 2020 in Tunisia, under the auspices of the United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... On 5 February, the forum elected Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba as Prime Minister for the transitional period in Libya. The LPDF also approved a three-member Presidential Council headed by al-Mnifi.

It was the latest evidence of deteriorating security at al-Hol camp in the Kurdish-run northeast, where Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) had to temporarily suspend operations this week after the killing of one of its team members.
"Since the start of 2021, 31 people have been killed -- six of whom were murdered with a sharp object, while the rest where rubbed out," said camp official Jaber Sheikh Mustafa.
The toll has more than doubled since February 8 when it stood at 14, according to Kurdish authorities.
"We believe that IS sleeper cells are behind these murders" that especially target Iraqi residents of the camp, Mustafa told AFP.
But a humanitarian source said recently that tribal score-settling between residents could also be to blame for some murders.
Al-Hol holds almost 62,000 people, mostly women and kiddies, including Syrians, Iraqis and thousands from Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... and Asia accused of family ties with IS fighters.
Most camp inhabitants are Syrians or Iraqis displaced by the Kurdish-led battle against IS that took back the group's last scrap of territory in March 2019.
MSF said Tuesday that it was suspending its operations in the camp after one of its local team members was rubbed out in his tent on February 24.
"People are being killed with a brutal frequency, often in the tents where they live," said MSF's emergency manager, Will Turner.
Despite chronic overcrowding at al-Hol, the number of camp guards was reduced from 1,500 in mid-2019 to 400 in late 2020, the UN said in a February report.
Some detainees see the camp as the last vestige of the cross-border "caliphate" IS declared in Syria and neighbouring Iraq in 2014, it said.
Apart from murders, a camp blaze on Saturday killed six people, including five children, the Kurdish administration said. At least 36 others were maimed in the fire, officials told a presser on Wednesday.
