[10News] A California serial killer known as the "I-5 Strangler" in the 1970s and 1980s has been killed in prison.
State correctional officials said Monday that a correctional officer spotted 81-year-old Roger Reece Kibbe unresponsive in his cell at Mule Creek State Prison after midnight Sunday.
His cellmate was standing nearby. Kibbe was initially convicted in 1991 of strangling a 17-year-old who had run away from home in Seattle.
Investigators at the time said Kibbe was also a suspect in six other killings. In 2009, a San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office investigator used new developments to connect him to the old slayings.

It's early in the day, but, ph000k, man, that calls for a drink!
[NYP] A Florida golfer drowned in a pond when he went to search for a lost golf ball, authorities said.
Hermilo Jazmines’ body was pulled by divers Sunday from a pond at the Oldsmar country club, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said Jazmines, 74, was last seen playing golf just after 7:30 a.m. with a friend.
Witnesses told authorities that he had gone off to search for his ball near hole three. His golf cart was discovered still parked on the path, while his putter was lying near the pond, authorities said.
Investigators said they believe Jazmines fell into the water and drowned. Authorities said that his death doesn’t appear to be suspicious, but an autopsy has been ordered.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Close to two out of three Russians believe that the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... is a man-made biological weapon
...yes, but who do they think made it?
and less than a third are willing to get vaccinated, a poll said Monday.
Observers say the findings reflect a distrust towards authorities fueled by the lack of transparency during the pandemic and deteriorating relations with the West.
According to the survey by the independent Levada Centre, 64 percent of respondents said that COVID-19 was artificially created and is a "new form of biological weapon" while 23 percent believed the virus appeared "without human intervention."

Reminds me of the movie Abigail. Nearly all Russian actors. Movie was well done. Father of Abigail only English. He was last seen playing the part of Lestrade in Sherlock Holmes. Subtitles English. Before Covid.

[NYPost] Rita Fentress was worried she might get lost as she traveled down the unfamiliar forested, one-lane road in rural Tennessee in search of a coronavirus vaccine. Then the trees cleared and the Hickman County Agricultural Pavilion appeared.
The 74-year-old woman wasn’t eligible to be vaccinated in Nashville, where she lives, because there were so many health care workers to vaccinate there. But a neighbor told her the state’s rural counties had already moved to younger age groups and she found an appointment 60 miles away.
"I felt kind of guilty about it," she said. "I thought maybe I was taking it from someone else." But late that February day, she said there were still five openings for the next morning. I got used to headlines that proclaim that "most Americans don't want to be vaccinated because ..."

When non working public school teachers were prioritized (to receive the vaccination) the general public understood the "fairness" of the distribution. I live rural and this is the first I've heard of "tension". Just a made up story by the NYP for suckers.

Federal, state, local health authorities and medical centers have been expecting a vaccine for about a year now. They had a ton of time to get ready for this -- but somehow most of them didn't do it. Idiocracy is the rule now.

This is a super scary virus killing billions and I need my shot so I'm going to drive from the infected cities to urban areas where the virus isn't so I can spread my search out and hopefully get mine.
Its a bit arrogant. I mean, if these people believe that much, yet have no qualms about driving around potentially spreading their diseases around, what is that?
Anyways, I have not experienced any tension from the city folk. 9/10 times they take their mask off and relax like people do after a 3 hour flight full of turbulence and an interesting landing.

Rural enough to keep track of the towns which didn't do masks even in school. Schools did just fine. Interesting control group, seems that when the parents who sent their sick kids to school anyways weren't able to do so is a real consideration for their success, next would be parents paying a bit more attention to whether their kid is feeling well where before they might be a bit in a hurry and not notice.
I'm not saying people in those towns didn't get sick, or didn't test positive for a covid. I'm saying the rate was not any more noticeable than anywhere else, which one must consider that school was not a spreader node.

the teenage secret "parties" have done some damage here (not so easy to control those ones), but everyone gets over their Covid/common cold/whatever it was....

Kids here mingle after school anyways, and the only time they have their masks on is in school or school related, and they are off like a graduation cap ASAP.
And I'm not saying what works out here will work in the cities. I would propose that whose schools who have been open and doing the mask thing are in the habit of hygiene - washing hands before eating especially finger food, not sucking their fingers or picking their eyes, sent home if running a fever no ifs or ands, even taking their shower as soon as they get home instead of later that evening - I say its time to de-mask. Those teenagers are frustrated and they don't know how to deal with frustration and it is manifesting as stupid party tricks or worse, severe depression. The younger kids are still learning facial expressions as emotional tools and how to talk by watching another's mouth and that education is being stunted.
Those kids who have been in house arrest for a year now, man I don't even know. How does a kid go from one year trapped at home, or longer, an entire year and counting being taught to hate their neighbor, to having to learn all the protocols - not being allowed in because you didn't know you had a fever, the constant hand washing and sanitizing until the skin starts to crack and bleed, being forced into plastic boxes, can't communicate in a meaningful way, Hall Karens doing a shark attack on anyone breaking mask discipline. Hell Week.
[ReclaimTheNet] Political commentator and investigative journalist Laura Loomer, often dubbed the "Most banned woman online," announced she would be running for the House Representative seat in Florida’s District 21. Despite being banned from all major social media platforms and payment processors, she ran for the seat in the 2020 election and lost to Lois Frankel of the Democratic Party ...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects... Loomer announced her decision to run again for a seat in Congress at the Trump International Golf Club, located in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her decision was backed by Trump’s political adviser, Roger Stone, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and GOP strategist Karen Giorno. Present in the fully-packed room were other members of the RNC, Florida’s GOP Committee, and many conservative activists and local donors.
Loomer was the first federal seat candidate and campaign to be deplatformed by Big Tech platforms. While addressing supporters in Trump’s golf club, she warned how American values were being targeted by Big Tech through censorship. She reminded the people present of her prediction in 2018, when she was banned from most mainstream social media platforms:
"If it can happen to me, it can and will happen to PresidentTrump."
"When you are designated as a domestic terrorist, which is what the Democrats are trying to do to all Trump supporters, your ability to travel is restricted and you are automatically stripped of your right to own a firearm," said Loomer. "This is what is happening in Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...Candidate for president in 2020. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing... ’s America."
Loomer noted how Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is being silenced in the House of Representatives, now controlled by the Democratic Party. Greene has also faced censorship online. In a statement to The Floridian, Greene endorsed Loomer’s candidacy.
Considering the upcoming redistricting, it is not clear whether Loomer will have to run against Frankel again in 2022. That said, Frankel already expressed the fear of losing her seat by sending a fundraising plea to supporters to contribute to her 2022 campaign.
[OneIndia] A cyber intelligence firm Cyfirma on Monday claimed that a Chinese state-backed hacking group is targeting the IT systems of two Indian vaccine makers Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech, that are being inculcated in India in world's biggest vaccination drive.
Chinese hacking group APT10, also known as Stone Panda, had identified gaps and vulnerabilities in the IT infrastructure and supply chain software of Bharat Biotech and the Serum Institute of India (SII), the world's largest vaccine maker, according to a Rooters report.
"The real motivation here is actually exfiltrating intellectual property and getting a competitive advantage over Indian pharmaceutical companies," Cyfirma Chief Executive Kumar Ritesh told Rooters.
"APT10 was actively targeting SII, which is making the AstraZeneca vaccine for many countries and will soon start bulk-manufacturing Novavax shots, " he said.
"In the case of Serum Institute, they have found a number of their public servers running weak web servers, these are vulnerable web servers," Ritesh said, referring to the hackers.
"They have spoken about weak web application, they are also talking about weak content-management system. It's quite alarming."

I learned something interesting recently. There are basically 4 categories of COVID vaccine under development: 1. mRNA, 2. adenovirus 3. protein spike 4. attenuated virus.
The 2 vaccines on the market are both mRNA. That's because it's the easiest and fastest to make. It's never been done before, so we really don't know about long term safety, though this category has been studied for some time now.
Numbers 3 and 4 represent traditional vaccine technology, though we seem to be moving away from attenuated virus. The protein spike type is what we use for Hep B and HPV. Conceptually this should be pretty safe as it only introduces a key portion of the spike protein, not the virus and not genetic material. Currently GSK/Sunofi and Novavax have these types of vaccine in phase 2 trials. So, if you want a COVID vaccination and aren't in a hurry, but aren't 100% on the mRNA stuff, you might consider waiting for these to hit the market.
non-replicating viral vectors, using an adenovirus shell containing DNA that encodes a SARS‑CoV‑2 protein. ... non-replicating, meaning that they do not make new virus particles, but rather produce only the antigen which elicits a systemic immune response

Very helpful, Rabbit Angstrom.
Simplifying complexity is a great and worthy skill. Thank you.

Awesome Angstrom! It may be worth noting that the non-replicating adenovirus (J&J) does require that DNA make its way into the nucleus where Folks DNA resides in order to be made into mRNA that then goes to the cytoplasm and ribosomes to be template for making the proteins that Pts immune systems then produce antibodies against. This may be problematic for those that wish their cell nuclei be inviolate wrt possible incorporation of viral DNA into their genome/ I understand the mRNA vaccines don't require acces to the cell nucleus to be effective- hence no chance of alteration of Pt DNA... That said the J&J vaccine that can be shipped and stored at refrigerator temps and is a single dose is my big hope to be able to provide vaccine to Pts out of my office. The current practice of requiring vaccinations at large public venues or busy pharmacies/grocery stores reminds me of Hickham Field early on Dec 7 1941; High risk and High value assets all lined up and vulnerable to a single pass....
[JP] Ben-Gurion University has developed a rapid and cost-effective test to identify UK and South African variants of the novel coronavirus, reducing the time needed to determine if an infection is caused by a variant to a matter of hours.
The current method for testing for variants involves sequencing the entire virus genome, which is expensive and time consuming.
The new method uses two RT-qPCR rapid tests based on gene deletion that differentiates the variants from the original strain. The tests successfully detected the British variant in sewage samples from Beersheba.
"My lab has been working hard throughout this pandemic to provide early warning and detection tools. Our detection system of corona in wastewater successfully completed a pilot program in 14 cities around Israel," said Prof. Ariel Kushmaro, who supervised development of the new method. "We continue to refine our research in service to humankind."
The method was developed by Dr. Karin Yaniv and Dr. Eden Ozer. Kushmaro and Yaniv are members of BGU's Environmental Biotechnology Lab and the Avram and Stella Goldstein-Goren Department of Biotechnology Engineering. Ozer is a member of the Department of Life Sciences.
