[Red State] As we reported, one of the reasons that Democrats likely backed out of having witnesses during the impeachment trial despite the fact that they won a vote to do so was because of the threat that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) might be called and asked what did she know when and why she didn’t request the National Guard to help out at the Capitol beforehand.
The facts are that President Donald Trump had ordered the Guard to be available if Pelosi and/or Mayor Muriel Bowser requested it. But as we noted, they didn’t do so, until the action at the Capitol was well underway on Jan. 6.
According to Fox, Republicans including House Administration Committee Ranking Member Rodney Davis, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan, House Oversight Committee Ranking Member James Comer and House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes want to know why and are demanding answers from Pelosi.
Trump authorized the National Guard on Jan. 3 for Jan. 5-6, if it was requested. The Chief of the Capitol Police at the Time said that he asked the sergeants at arms to request the assistance of the National Guard. Sund said the former Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving said he was concerned about "the optics" and didn’t feel the "intelligence supported it." Paul Irving who since resigned answers to Pelosi.
The GOP letter reminded Pelosi that she’s "responsible for all operational decisions made within the House."

NAACP is suing Trump and others over the riots. I suspect if it goes forward Trump's team will bring up his offers to have the National Guard there and Pelosi's refusal. That'll make interesting headlines.

has been working with the minority (Republican) members on the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis to get answers from the governors of New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and California regarding their decision to defy Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) guidelines, and, instead force nursing homes to admit COVID-19 contagious patients who were discharged from hospitals. A tragic number of seniors in these states perished due to these decisions.
When alerted to these deadly errors in judgment by these states’ governors and after discussion with the Select Committee Republican Members, AMAC Action was asked to assist in this investigation. As a result in July, AMAC members sent over 4500 emails to these governors demanding their accountability regarding their decision to discharge COVID-19 contagious patients from hospitals to nursing homes, causing a disproportionate spike in elderly nursing home deaths in those states.
Now we learn that in an investigative finding published in a scathing report by the NY Attorney General that the state undercounted — little doubt to "cover up — nursing home COVID deaths by up to 5o%!
This led House Republican Whip and Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis Ranking Member Steve Scalise (R-La.) on January 28 to renew his call for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to provide all data on nursing home deaths related to Cuomo’s deadly must admit order causing COVID patients to be housed in available space in the nursing homes. Rep. Scalise letter says, in part:
"Considering the shocking new report revealing you and your administration drastically undercounted nursing home deaths in New York state, we write to request your full and immediate response to our previous questions. To date, you and New York State Attorney General Letitia James have failed to respond to [prior] requests posed in three separate letters. The report released today establishes that you ordered COVID-19 positive patients back into nursing homes, this order caused infections and fatalities, and you took concerted efforts to cover it up."

[National Review] This morning brings another example of how the Biden administration’s much-touted plan to expand and accelerate the pace of vaccinations is less than meets the eye. The plan to establish 100 federally supported vaccination sites by the end of February means the federal government will deploy tents and staffers . . . but not more doses of vaccine, which is pretty fundamental to running a successful vaccination site.
Eager to protect more people against the coronavirus, health officials in Oklahoma jumped at the chance to add large, federally supported vaccination sites. They wanted them in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and a third, mid-size city, Lawton, thinking the extra help would allow them to send more doses to smaller communities that had yet to benefit.
"We felt like if we could get them in the metro areas, what that would allow us to do is . . . free up a lot of our other resources to do more targeted vaccinations in underserved areas," said state Deputy Health Commissioner Keith Reed.
Those plans are now on hold after the state learned that the sites would not come with additional vaccines. Instead, the doses would have to be pulled from the state’s existing allocation, and the three sites alone might have used more than half of Oklahoma’s vaccine supply.
"We’re not prepared to pull the trigger on it unless it comes with vaccine," Reed said.
Yes, this is a large and complicated endeavor that needs to be coordinated with 50 state governments and thousands of county governments, but we still have too many stories of expected shipments of vaccine doses simply not arriving, with little explanation:

The left's original "plan" was to "share the vaccine" with the elite around the world, getting around to the average American at some unknown date in the future. If doses aren't being delivered to US programs, look for it going to China and other corrupt nations.

Agree. I really don't think Mr. Biden knows what is going on, and the announcements of wonderful new programs with no follow-up just keep piling up. Expect a lot of announcements with great flourishes, but nothing really getting done.
He is going to make Jimmy Carter look competent.

The doses are going out as originally contracted, and being delivered to patients. My 95 year old mother finally got her first dose at the retirement home last Thursday, management’s third attempt to get everybody vaccinated who wants it.
Not that it’s stopped my intrepid mother, who quietly goes out the back exit and walks around the building and across the street to the grocery store — with her mask carefully over her mouth — when she is bored or feels the need to exercise... or actually needs a quart of milk and some cold cuts. (She worked as a hospital occupational therapist for years, so she knows what careful masking looks like.)
There would have been more doses for the old folks, had teachers not been deemed so much more important in the grand scheme of things.

[PJ] Before cheering on more congressional spending for COVID "relief," the latest news out of Washington State may give you pause.
Your federal COVID "relief" dollars — $900 billion so far, with more on the way — are being spent by some states to fund far-Left political groups, such as The Bail Project—which, as its name suggests, doles out bail money—a soft-on-crime justice lobbying group. As I reported earlier in PJ Media, The Bail Project supports at least one antifa-related group.
In a story for My Northwest, Seattle radio talk host Jason Rantz reports that groups receiving the $12 million in federal COVID funds given to Washington State were required to be run by racial minorities.
Rantz reports that groups led by white people were not allowed to receive money.
Oregon, which has similar guidelines for disbursement, is currently the target of a class-action lawsuit for requiring an unconstitutional race test to receive federal dollars.
Groups that helped the entire swath of community members, but were led by white people, were not given priority for these funds. Rantz linked to a list of those groups, which one might assume would be helpful in divvying up the money for people hard hit by COVID. The groups not given money included an American Legion post, Alliance for Education, Big Brothers and Big Sisters groups, food banks, city ministries, museums, free clinics, and myriad others.
Which groups passed the race-based review? The Council on American Islamic Relations of Washington received $50,000. The Climate Justice Initiative also got some money.
We’re sure that the Seattle World Percussion Society is a great group, but how does giving it $25,000 help fight COVID again?
The Bail Project of Spokane received a $50,000 bail-out with the money indirectly used to post bail money for criminals, including a wife-beater, according to Rantz.
A lobbying group that advocates for lighter jail sentences got federal COVID dollars.
As you’ve likely divined by now, the groups that received funding appear to have gotten the money for political and not COVID reasons.
Based on the rationale explaining the funding, Bail Project Spokane was selected for its political cause, not for being impacted by COVID.
Rantz asks, "Excluding nonprofits on the race of its leadership is certainly controversial. But some nonprofits receiving federal tax dollars hold radical left-wing political views. Is this where COVID relief tax dollars should go?"

The president and first lady hopped a short, 28-minute flight from Hagerstown, Maryland, to Joint Base Andrews after spending the long holiday weekend at the presidential retreat in the hills of Catoctin Mountain Park, in Frederick County, Maryland.
Biden was decked out in presidential gear for the trip, wearing a brown aviator jacket with the Air Force One seal on one side and a name plate reading 'Joe Biden Commander in Chief' on the other.
He also wore a hat given to him by his grandchildren. The front side of the brown baseball cap says 'Presidential Retreat Camp David' and the back reads 'Pop' - which is what Biden's grandkids call him.
'We bought him some swag since it's Presidents' Day weekend and he's "literally" President,' his grand daughter Naomi wrote on Twitter with pics of Biden wearing the cap.
Naomi Biden traveled back with her grandparents, accompanied by her boyfriend Peter Neal and her dog, Charlie. She wore a stocking cap with the Camp David seal on its brim. And when Air Force One landed at Joint Base Andrews, Charlie hopped into the Beast, as the president’s car is known, before he was directed to the correct vehicle.
The president switched coats on the plane from his short aviator jacket to a longer, dark overcoat.
The first lady wore a soft pink coat and snow boots. Both Bidens wore face masks.
