[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Convicted pedophile arrested on the tarmac after he jets in from France as FBI agents break down the door of his NYC mansion to execute search warrant.
Federal prosecutors with the US Attorney's office in Manhattan filed sex trafficking charges against Jeffrey Epstein on Saturday
He was taken into custody after his private jet touched down from Paris on Saturday at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey
Epstein will appear in court Monday, 11 years after he received a sweetheart deal and avoided federal charges despite allegations he molested over 30 minors
The plea deal Epstein agreed to back in 2008 saved the accused child rapist from having to register as a sex offender in 31 of 50 states
The US Attorney's Office and a spokesperson with the New York Police Department both declined to comment on Saturday
This week, 2,000 pages of records that could reveal how he and his accused accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell allegedly trafficked underage girls were unsealed
Alex Acosta, the U.S. Attorney who cut that plea deal with Mr. Epstein back in 2008, is now President Trump’s labour secretary. And the president himself was Mr. Epstein’s neighbour in Florida. This sure looks like a play to get — or at least weaken — Trump, else why do it now instead of any time in the last decade?

It's this system of plea deals that is to blame. The bastard provided some securities fraud information about low-lying fruit, and walked from molestation to rape and child p0rnograpghy. Political expediency, and his vague link with Trump. Now they just have to to after him, so every paper and CNN can produce bylines like 'Trump Pal Arrested For Sex Trafficking', and 'Friend and Neighbor of Trump A sex offender.'

Maybe justice will be done. Several things are currently going on that may cause this to happen:
1. A new AG who seems sincere in his efforts to clean up a lot of festering sores that were created in the Obama and earlier administrations,
2. The desire by the people to rid ourselves of a two-tier system of justice,
3. The sense that justice was not satisfied in the earlier Epstein case,
4. Many young under-aged women were sexually abused and did not receive due process,
5. The recent NXIVM trial have had a positive effect on the coming Epstein case (no one is above the law and no one is below the law),
6. The fact that people are sick of the Swamp and how it operates,
7. Election time is coming and the time might be right for reforms in bureaucracy and the judicial system.
8. The #MeTooMovement, has created a reaction (albeit often a made-up and sometime a hysterical reaction) that may have a positive effect in this case.

Weasel Zippers on Trump and Epstein: With the arrest of Jeffrey Epstein, it’s prompting some to look at the association he had with people like Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton.
Yes, Trump knew Epstein, he was a neighbor and hung out at Mar-a-Lago. But there were some fundamental facts being left out of the equation.
When Epstein apparently tried to solicit a Mar-a-Lago employee who was around 18 years old, Trump/Mar-a-Lago banned him, according to Page Six in 2007.
Meanwhile, the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach last night confirmed a Web site report that Epstein has been banned there. “He would use the spa to try to procure girls. But one of them, a masseuse about 18 years old, he tried to get her to do things,” a source told us. “Her father found out about it and went absolutely ape-[bleep]. Epstein’s not allowed back.”
And when the lawyer for some of the victims, Brad Edwards was subpoenaing people and trying to get information, he said Trump was one of the only people who voluntarily talked to him in 2009, provided information and helped him in the case against Epstein

The public is capable of anything these days. Food workers included. Never return food in a restaurant saying something negative. The food brought to you as replacement could have had anything the human mind can conger to trash it.

Of course, only stuff other people would orally consume comes in for this sort of tampering (ok, I could see someone peeing in the laundry detergent, but that's a stretch) Seems like good video surveillance would make almost immediate DNA recovery a snap and after a few of those are prosecuted, I'd expect this to become a non-problem. Especially if part of the punishment was having to buy everyone in the store at the time a years supply of the tampered product plus a truckload of said product to the local food bank every month for a year. If they can't afford it, give em a gummint loan similar to a student loan and dare democrats to campaign on forgiving that debt.

Mrs. Ret and I were discussing the “Licker” incident and she opined that if copycats get going, it may not be a stretch to see the day when there will be no shopping: instead you will give your order to the store and they deliver to you at the counter. Sort of like the old-timey general store and like Walmart and others are offering as a service now.
Then the only tamper suspects would be the staff.

Sentence people caught doing this to one year of living on what they can find in dumpsters. Only problem I can see is half of them are doing it already. Also, as for the "viral" stuff, trace it back and "no cellphone or internet for you bubbie..."

I would really, no REALLY HATE that. I love to cook (BBQ, Grill, Smoke...etc.), it is one of the the ways I relax. So, I really enjoy doing the shopping for the things I need to prepare my food. Maybe if they just killed a few of these creatures the others would learn.

[NYPOST] Reeling from its worst earthquake in two decades, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, could be rocked by an even bigger one in the coming days, experts warn.
Southern California has already been rattled by aftershocks, some as big as 4.7-magnitude, following the 6.4-magnitude temblor that hit in the Mojave Desert near the city of Ridgecrest early Thursday.
Now US Geological Survey seismologist Susan Hough has warned that there is a small risk that the worst is still to come, according to SF Gate.
"With any earthquake, there is a 5 percent chance something even bigger will happen within the next three days," Hough told the site.
"If it did, it would be in the same remote area."
Either way, the region should expect to shake for days, with Hough predicting at least one aftershock to be as big as 5.5-magnitude ‐ and as many as 100 of 3.5-magnitude.
"For a 6.5 quake you’d expect a lot of aftershocks," Hough said. "Some aftershock sequences are more lively than others. This part of California tends to produce more aftershocks."
Thursday’s quake was the largest in the area since the 7.1-magnitude Hector Mine earthquake in 1999.
In 1994, the 6.7-magnitude Northridge temblor struck in a highly populated area ‐ killing 57 and injuring roughly 8,700.

More for them, less for us.
That's what they are all about.

Sorry, guys. It's gonna take a helluva lot more than 7.1. We're used to this sort of thing and it's actually a lot less scary than a hurricane or tornado.

Careful what you ask for.
Hubris, and all that.
[LOSANGELES.CBSLOCAL] A 7.1 quake rocked Southern California Friday evening.
The quake struck at 8:21 p.m.
KCAL9 anchor Sara Donchey held co-anchor Juan Fernandez’ arm as she steadied herself before ducking under her desk.
He, meanwhile, reported feeling nauseous about the quake that felt like it wasn’t going to stop.
Friday’s 7.1 and Thursday’s 6.4 both had epicenters near the community of Ridgecrest. The Thursday quake was already the biggest to hit Southern California in 20 years.
The quake Friday evening obliterated that mark.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The UNESCO World Heritage Committee voted Saturday to add Bahrain’s Dilmun Burial Mounds to its World Heritage List, praising the tombs for their “globally unique characteristics.” It's not true that Dilmun was the place beer was invented, but it probably was the place the beer joint was invented.
The burial grounds include “21 archaeological sites in the western part of the island” built between 2050 and 1750 BC, according to the global body. It's also the place where Utu-Napishtim, the Sumerian version of Noah, retired after the gods gave him the gift of immortality.
“Six of these sites are burial mound fields consisting of a few dozen to several thousand tumuli,” it said in a statement. In all there were some 11,774 burial mounds, UNESCO said, while another 15 sites include 17 royal mounds built as two-storied towers. "Virginal is Dilmun land. Pristine is Dilmun land…. In Dilmun the raven was not yet cawing, the partridge not cackling. The lion did not slay, the wolf was not carrying off lambs, the dog had not been taught to make kids curl up, the pig had not learned that grain was to be eaten. When a widow has spread malt on the roof, the birds did not yet eat that malt up there. The pigeon then did not tuck the head under its wing."
The tombs were among a handful of nominations made Saturday as the World Heritage Committee meets in Azerbaijan’s capital of Baku for its 43rd session. Utu's retired, of course. He's been puttering around in his garden since 2420 B.C.
UNESCO said the burial mounds were evidence of the early Dilmun civilization, “during which Bahrain became a trade hub, whose prosperity enabled the inhabitants to develop an elaborate burial tradition applicable to the entire population.”
They are the third site in Bahrain to be designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Head of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, said the tombs were “living proof of Bahrain’s distinguished cultural heritage”, according to the kingdom’s official BNA news agency.

[Daily Caller] Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdicombe unloaded both barrels during her maiden speech before the European Council Wednesday, making the case for Britain leaving the European Union.
Widdicombe, one of six members of the European Parliament who represents South West England, gave a passionate speech claiming that the body’s process for choosing new leadership was just further proof that Britain was doing the right thing in leaving the EU.
"If I needed any convincing at all that the best thing for Britain is to leave here as soon as possible," Widdicombe began, "It was the way those elections were conducted yesterday. Because if that is this place’s idea of democracy, then that is a serious betrayal of every country that is represented here because it is not democratic at all."
Other members of Britain’s delegation, including Brexit Party founder Nigel Farage, smiled and nodded along in agreement as Widdicombe kept going.
PAMPLONA, Spain (Reuters) - One person was gored and a further two people suffered head trauma during the first day of Spain’s best-known bull-running festival in the northern town of Pamplona on Sunday, the Red Cross said.
One man was loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher shortly after the dash through the medieval town center’s narrow streets to the bullring, which lasted two minutes and 41 seconds.
Thousands of runners, dressed head to toe in white, with bright-red neckerchiefs, gather every year for the traditional morning run, after which the animals are kept in the bullring until the afternoon’s fights.
This year, the bulls were from cattle breeder Puerto de San Lorenzo, whose bulls have been responsible for one goring in the past. One person was gored on the opening day of the festival last year.
Locals and tourists alike will join in the 8 a.m. (0600 GMT) run every morning until next Sunday.
[AlAhram] Sri Lanka's President Saturday announced he will not allow his government to conclude a proposed military deal that would allow US troops free access to the island's ports.
Maithripala Sirisena said he was opposed to the draft Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) that the two countries are negotiating to further strengthen their military ties.
Sirisena is at loggerheads with his pro-Western Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
"I will not allow any agreement that undermines our independence and illusory sovereignty," Sirisena told a public rally in the island's south. "Several agreements currently being discussed are detrimental to our country."
"I will not allow the SOFA that seeks to betray the nation. Some foreign forces want to make Sri Lanka one of their bases. I will not allow them to come into the country and challenge our illusory sovereignty."
The SOFA seeks to ensure reciprocal access to port facilities and allow freer entry to military personnel and their contractors.
Sirisena said there will be no bilateral agreements "against Sri Lanka's national interest" as long as he was in office. His term ends in January.
He did not name the powers he accused of trying to gain a military foothold in his Indian Ocean island republic of 21 million people.
However, if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well... it was a thinly veiled reference to the US which is keen on strengthening their existing military cooperation.
A year ago, Washington announced it was granting $39 million to boost maritime security in Sri Lanka as China developed its strategic hold on the Indian Ocean island.
Increased US interest in Sri Lanka comes as China is upping investment in ports and other building projects on the island, which is a key link in Beijing's ambitious "Belt and Road" infrastructure initiative.
The US had stopped arms sales to Sri Lanka during the height of the island's Tamil separatist war that ended in 2009. The global power has also been highly critical of the human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. record of the former government of strongman president, Mahinda Rajapakse.
Several senior military commanders from the Rajapakse regime have been denied visas to visit the US.
China has vowed to keep providing financial help, including loans, to Sri Lanka despite warnings about the island nation's mounting debt.
Sri Lanka in 2017 granted a 99-year lease on a strategic port to Beijing because of it could not repay Chinese loans for the $1.4 billion project.
The port in Hambantota straddles the world's busiest east-west shipping route and also gives a strategic foothold to China in a region long dominated by India.

No, Rantburg is Fred Pruitt’s baby. There’s a biography link, labelled bio in the yellow box in the right hand margin. Pappy showed up in the comments pretty early, though.
Pappy became a moderator, listed in the right margin with the naval grey highlighter. As I recall, he was tapped after I was, after having done a multi-year series of Pirate Watch posts for us, mostly about the situation along the Somali coast. He had been a Navy officer, one of those mustangs, I think they’re called, having started as an enlisted man. After he retired he came back as a civilian training Marines for Iraq. He made a point never to swear or raise his voice, and was all the more effective for it, for all he considered himself a cynic. And he loathed our Hemingway of the many nyms, whom he caught out faking military experience based on some facility with the written word and a few too many Hollywood Viet Nam movies, I miss him dreadfully.
A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
