[MAIL] Salute to the Falklands fallen: British troops recreate march made during the final days of the war almost four decades on from conflict with Argentina.
Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment made 50-mile march to seize control of islands' capital.
Today's regiment retraced their steps 37 years later to salute the 23 Paras who perished in treacherous assault.
Falklands War lasted 74 days from April to June 1982, and was tug-of-war for the traditionally British islands. Except to Oblahblah they were always "the Malvinas Maldives"

. . . just landed a cover on a "major" magazine . . . called Paper. Never heard of it before and they think this will help their circulation? Not so much.
#2
This "Paper" magazine has a circulation of what? A couple hundred maybe? Likewise I've never heard of this magazine before this article. which was probably the whole point.
Paper (magazine)
Paper is a New York City-based independent magazine focusing on fashion, popular culture, nightlife, music, art and film.
Paper was founded in 1984 by Kim Hastreiter and David Hershkovits, former editors at the SoHo Weekly News, with help from Lucy Sisman and Richard Weigand. Beginning as a monthly print magazine in the form of a black and white 16-page fold-out, it has since transformed into a quarterly print and digital magazine.[3]
Past cover models include Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Prince, CL, and Jennifer Lopez.
In November 2014, Kim Kardashian was the cover star of the “Break the Internet” issue. Kardashian was interviewed by Paper contributor Amanda Fortini for the spread "No Filter: An Afternoon with Kim Kardashian". The photos for the issue were taken by Jean–Paul Goude.[8] The shoot was a re-creation of Goude's "Champagne Incident", a series of photographs from his 1982 book Jungle Fever.[9] The cover photo, as well as the rest, feature a fully nude Kardashian.
Since the story was published, it has gotten 34,147,700 unique page-views, which is more than double the number of page-views Paper normally receives annually.

Freakin' CNN. That screeching sound must be Lynne Russell doing donuts in Ted Turner's Rascal. Thing 1 seems to be Bud Selig's grandkid at her summer job, Thing 2 a grizzled veteran of Mashable and such who's been toiling in teh trenches for even more months than her. "Trailblazing!" "Made history!" "Unprecedented!"

...The Soviets did that with a lot of 'migrant' Germans from Stalingrad. Out of the nearly 91,000 German prisoners captured in Stalingrad, only about 5,000 returned.
[DAWN] TAXILA: A woman lost her life while saving her daughter from being raped in Jallia village located in the limits of Hazro cop shoppe early on Sunday.
The body of the woman remained unattended at the THQ hospital for hours as no female doctor was available to conduct an autopsy.
Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Azam told newsmen that a suspect entered the house after scaling the wall and attempted to sexually assault a married woman.
The woman was living with her mother after developing differences with her in-laws.
The SHO said as the woman screamed, her mother came to rescue her. However, Switzerland makes more than cheese... the intruder stabbed the mother with a knife and also injured her daughter.
The SHO said the attacker fled from the house.
He said the neighbours shifted the two injured women to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Hazro from where the old woman was taken to Rawalpindi where she died.
When the body was brought back to the THQ hospital for his appointment with Doctor Quincy, people related to the women and the attacker clashed. Some of them were later arrested.
The SHO said the police registered a murder case against the suspect and arrested him.
The body of the woman remained unattended at the THQ hospital for hours as no female doctor was available to conduct an autopsy.

[DAWN] An under-trial prisoner (UTP) died under controversial circumstances inside the district jail, Malir, officials said on Sunday.
His relatives and other prisoners alleged that the UTP, Sagheer Tanoli, died from torture as there were visible marks on the body.
However, there's more than one way to stuff a chicken... prison authorities claimed that he was brought to jail in an ’injured’ condition and he died during treatment at the jail hospital.
The UTP was arrested by the Saeedabad police a couple of days ago. The police said that he got injuries on the shoulder when he was taken into custody.
A case was registered against him under sections 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc), 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 109 (abetment) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistain Penal Code.
He was sent to the Malir prison on June 13 and on the night of June 22, his condition deteriorated and he died at the medical ward/hospital of the prison.

[DAWN] A recent survey carried out in District Jail Malir has found close connection between drugs and crime as it reveals most inmates have landed in the prison due to drug related offenses.
The survey further learnt that a majority of prisoners took to drugs at a young age under peer pressure, some just for fun and others to escape frustration and a significant number of these drug users were married and lived with their families before being arrested and sent to jail.

[Rudaw] Iraq is set to become self-sufficient in producing wheat and barley this year, despite a rash of fires and security issues.
This year’s harvest in Nineveh is reportedly better than ever and will bring a bumper crop for the country.
According to Iraq’s Ministry of Agriculture, the wheat fields in Nineveh, Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... Anbar and some other areas in Iraq have increased harvest production since they were liberated from the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS).
1.3 million tons of wheat and 1.4 million tons of barley are expected to be harvested this year.
Still, up to 1.7 million acres of fields in Nineveh weren’t included in agricultural planning, as they still need to be cleared of bombs and mines. After clearing the bombs, productivity in the country could be even higher.
The Iraqi government pays a subsidized price for wheat. While average wheat market prices fall between while average wheat market prices fall between 350,000 and 420,000 IQD ($293- $352 USD) per ton of top grade wheat, Iraqi farmers receive around 520,000 IQD ($436 USD) per ton.

Getting the first stage to reliably hit the barge should be as easy as incorporating the Tesla auto drive software and making sure the barge looks like a section of jersey barrier or parked DOT truck from above. Then they can't miss...

M. Murcek - that was the longest landing ever with no boost back burn and a total experiment. Get your facts straight on that before dissing it. It was 1300+ miles out at sea. Previous longest one was 730 some miles. There were 4 separate orbit burns to radically different orbits for some very very strange DARPA, DOD, Taiwanese and other sats. The payload weight was very very low. The Air Force controlled the whole game plan. They wanted some data they could only get with this strange launch. What the real purpose(s) of it are the Air Force's to know.

If you want to continue dinging Musk try the latest failure of an Oxygen Impleller on the Starship's prototype Raptor Engine. It will delay the test launches of the Hopper while they redesign the blade. 3 weeks to model, redesign and build a new blade and 3 weeks to test again. Starship is the one that will eventually take 100 passengers to Mars.

I haven’t felt this good since the 60s while watching launches from the Cape. NASA should be directed to concentrate on space or be shutdown. This global warming stuff should not be part of NASA’s budget! Why are we paying Russians to launch people to the space station!

 Some staffer mindlessly grabbed the wrong .gif image when making the screen... Elon Musk, or his assistant or assistant's assistant, saw the astronomical red thingy™ and signed off on it.

The moon is closer to test on. He is tweaking NASA's SLS with that image. His rocket can land by itself on the moon and accomplish way more than the 32 billion return a couple of guys to the moon that the Senate Launch System is planing to PORK err launch.
He could carry a whole moon base to the moon with bulldozers and the lot. Look at the specs for that rocket.
Even the first stage... 2,000 kN per engine. First stage has 31 engines so 62,000 kN first stage. Second stage has 7 to 9 engines so 14,000 kN to 18,000 kN for second stage. Want to carry a road roller?

[IsraelTimes] Community had grown to 60,000-strong, and was prompting concerns elsewhere on social media platform; similar, smaller group still operates.
After allowing it to flourish for nine months, Reddit has banned an internet community comprising tens of thousands of members that critics elsewhere on the platform said was associated with the online neo-Nazi ...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously and purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both.... movement.
The /r/frenworld community had grown to 60,346 subscribers before its ban by the Reddit administration on Thursday. In an explanation posted on the group’s former web page, Reddit stated that "this subreddit was banned for violations of our Content Policy, specifically, the posting of content that glorifies or encourages violence."
A similar community, with a smaller subscriber group of some 15,000, was still functioning as of this writing, however, as were several much smaller communities.
