[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Protest leaders on Sunday said they suspended talks with Sudan’s military council as they urged people to intensify their protest outside army headquarters in Khartoum and in other towns.
"We will continue the sit-in and we are suspending our talks with the military council," a front man of the protest movement Mohammed al-Amin announced in front of thousands of protesters gathered outside the army complex.
"We are treating the military council as an extension of the regime," he said.
Amin also called on demonstrators to step up their protests until their demand for a transfer of power to a civilian council is met by the military.
"We call for escalating and continuing the demonstrations until the demands are met," he said.
A sea of protesters had been rallying outside the army headquarters, awaiting the unveiling of a civilian body to replace the military council that was put in place following the ouster of president Omar al-Bashir Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it. earlier this month.
The military rulers have resisted calls to transfer power immediately to a civilian body, but earlier on Sunday new army ruler General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan insisted he was committed to handing power to the people and also pledged to respond to demonstrators’ demands within a week.

[PRESSTV] Sudan’s military ruler General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan says the transitional military council he heads is committed to transferring power to a civilian body, as a deadline set by protesters for the formation of a civilian council arrives.
On Sunday, Burhan, who assumed power on April 12, said "the council is committed to giving power to people." He said the council would respond to the popular demand for the formation of a civilian government within a week.
He also confirmed that former president Omar al-Bashir Head of the National Congress Party. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it. and bigwigs from his circle had been jugged Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages! After some four months of anti-government protests, long-time leader Bashir was ousted by the military on April 11.
However, facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable... the military council, which was first led by Lieutenant General Ahmed Awad bin Auf for only several hours, has resisted calls from protesters to quickly make way for the establishment of a civilian council.
Protest leaders say the civilian council would form a transitional government to rule the African country for a four-year term, followed by elections.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Thousands of people demonstrated on Sunday in the Moroccan capital Rabat, calling for the release of dozens of activists jailed for up to 20 years over their role in a protest movement.
“The people want the release of the detainees,” demonstrators shouted as they marched behind a banner supporting activists linked to the Hirak movement.
Earlier this month a court upheld the ruling against 42 people linked to the Al-Hirak al-Shaabi – or “Popular Movement” – protests which took hold of the marginalized Rif region in October 2016.
AFP reporters saw thousands of people in the streets, some clutching photographs of those serving jail terms ranging from one to 20 years.
The sentences first handed down last June were upheld on April 6 by the Casablanca court of appeal.
Moroccan authorities insist the judicial process has followed international standards.

[Libya Herald] For the second Friday running, thousands took part in demonstrations in Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... and Misrata against Khalifa Hafter and his Libyan National Army (LNA) for their attack on Tripoli.
Besides Hafter and his LNA, La Belle France was singled out for criticism as many demonstrators wore yellow vests to mimic the anti Emmanuel Macron Gay Paree demonstrators.
The war losses continued, meanwhile, as the World Health Organization reported 227 deaths and 1,128 maimed.
While Britannia and Italia continued to seek an end to the fighting and a return to dialogue, LNA Spokesperson, Ahmed Mesmari "welcomed the international political support for the LNA".
The welcome comes after the revelation by the Whitehouse on Friday that Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... had spoken by phone to Khalifa Hafter earlier in the week. They had discussed "ongoing counterterrorism efforts".
A White House statement said that in the phone call on Monday, Trump "recognized Field Marshal Haftar’s significant role in fighting terrorism and securing Libya’s oil resources, and the two discussed a shared vision for Libya’s transition to a stable, democratic political system".

[Libya Observer] The front man for the Presidential Council's government Muhannad Younis denied Saturday any negotiations with Abdelrazik al-Nathori or any other figures from Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... 's forces.
The front man reaffirmed that the Libyan Army forces under Presidential Council's command are continuing to foil the attack of Haftar's forces on Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... The statement denied news circulated on social media about negotiations between Libyan Army forces and Haftar's forces Chief of Staff al-Nathori about a ceasefire in Tripoli.
In the meantime, the Head of Presidential Council Fayez al-Sarraj called for a UN Security Council fact-finding mission in Tripoli to document violations by Haftar's attacking forces, including supplying Haftar's forces with weapons.
"Haftar's forces have killed civilians and displaced many others of them, using underaged boys in the war on Tripoli and using Arclight airstrikes and artillery shelling on residential areas and Mitiga Airport, let alone targeting schools and field hospitals." al-Sarraj remarked, hailing the countries who called for the halt of the offensive on Tripoli.
Al-Sarraj accused Haftar's forces of using foreign aircraft to strike Tripoli, based on Ahmed al-Mismari's statement on last Thursday, when he said "friend aircraft" had helped them in airstrikes.
"This call is a test for the international community and its credibility as to whether or not it wishes to find the facts behind what's going on in Tripoli." al-Sarraj added.
He said Libya will never sit idly by and wait for the conflicts in the world and the region to characterize its future, adding that his government will defeat the offensive against Tripoli.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Bahraini King Hamad ...King of Bahrain (since 14 February 2002), having previously been its emir (from 6 March 1999). He is a Sunni, while the rest of Bahrain is predominantly Shiite... bin Isa al-Khalifa has ordered that the citizenship of 551 Bahrainis be reinstated, after their nationality had been revoked by courts on terror cases, the kingdom’s state news agency said on Sunday.
"The royal order is in line with the provisions of Article 24 bis of Law 58/2006 with respect to the Protection of the Community against Terrorist Acts stipulating that rulings related to citizenship withdrawal will not be effective unless they are approved by HM the King," a statement on Bahrain News Agency (BNA) read.
The Bahraini King has asked the relevant authorities to evaluate the cases before a final court decision is implemented.
"The study and evaluation of the situation of convicts should be based on criteria pertaining to the seriousness, impact, and consequences of the crimes, as well as on the danger the convict may pose on national security," according to BNA’s statement. The King also "requested the Interior Minister to study the citizenship revocation rulings, and to prepare a list of reinstatement beneficiaries."

[THESUN.CO.UK] JEREMY Corbyn has been blasted after a video of him mocking SAS troopers and branding British forces in Iraq "lawless" emerged.
The Labour leader’s rant came just days after the dramatic rescue of two Who Dares Wins fighters from an Iraqi jail.
They faced a grizzly execution until their brave pals broke them free from their Basra prison.
But Corbyn, then a backbench MP, told a Stop the War rally: "You couldn’t have made it up.
"British SAS officers, armed to the teeth, driving through a checkpoint, then tried to shoot their way out of it, and then they are nabbed Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! , apparently quite properly by the local police.
"And the British Army then bombards the cop shoppe in which they are held. Who are the lawless forces now?"
He also compared Allied efforts to the US occupation of Vietnam.
Veterans minister Tobias Ellwood blasted: "Under Jeremy Corbyn, Labour should never be given the responsibility of keeping our country safe."
And SAS veteran Phil Campion said: "The man needs to live a day in a trooper’s shoes before he gobs off."
The 2005 video was uncovered by journalist Iggy Ostanin, who passed it to The Sun on Sunday.

[PULSE.NG] Violence in Mexico hit new heights in the first quarter of 2019, with 8,493 murders recorded from January to March, according to official figures.
According to the Executive Secretariat of the Public Security National System, that number represents a 9.6 percent rise on the same period in 2018.
Last year was considered the most violent in Mexico's history, with over 33,500 murders -- the highest number since records began in 1997.
The new record contradicts claims by leftist President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador that murders have not increased during his presidency, which began in December.
At a Navy event Sunday, Lopez Obrador defended the creation of a National Guard, his key strategy to fight the wave of violence that has engulfed Mexico since the government declared war on the country's powerful narco mobs in 2006.
"What concerns us the most is guaranteeing public safety," he said. "That is why a reform of the constitution was proposed so that the army and the navy can help us."
The National Guard is due to take over policing duties given to the military.
Mexico has recorded nearly 250,000 murders since deploying the army, including last year's record as the newly fragmented cartels battle the military and each other, with widespread collateral damage.
Lopez Obrador was a long-time critic of the deployment and vowed to end it, but since he assumed office it has continued.

[PULSE.NG] Ekrem Imamoglu, 49, of the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), narrowly edged out his rival to capture Istanbul mayor's office in a stinging setback to Erdogan's ruling AKP after a decade and a half in power.
The Justice and Development Party (AKP) is still seeking a rerun of the March 31 Istanbul ballot, but electoral authorities last week handed Imamoglu his mandate after he won a slim 13,000-vote lead over AKP's Binali Yildirim.
Waving Ottoman Turkish flags and portraits of modern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor.... 's founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, thousands of Imamoglu supporters packed the vast Maltepe shoreside area on the Asian side of Istanbul for the rally.
Imamoglu, a soft-spoken former district mayor who struck a conciliatory tone throughout the heated race, has vowed to serve all citizens of the 16-million strong city, regardless of their political inclinations.
"I will work, produce solutions and achieve results. This is my promise to each and every one of the 16 million Istanbul people," he told the rally.
"Nobody will be discriminated against."
Imamoglu vowed an "accountable and transparent municipality," saying: "We will not waste a single penny."
Imamoglu, who will govern the city for the next five years, said the Maltepe rally was not a political gathering, but a way to introduce the city's new administration to the people of Istanbul.
"He is a man who can easily talk with people and never turns his back on them. He is a man of the people," said Refika, a 70-year-old woman who joined the rally.

[DAWN] Terming the recent reshuffle in the federal cabinet a move towards setting up a government of technocrats, Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam ...the political wing of the Pak Taliban... chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ... asked Prime Minister Imran Khan ... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems... on Saturday to step down and demanded fresh elections to pull the nation out of crisis.
"This fake government does not have the ability and skill to govern a city, how can it run the entire country?" the JUI-F chief asked while talking to the media after a meeting of the party’s central executive council.
He said that the reshuffle in the cabinet and expulsion of ministers proved that the government was given a fake mandate and that it did not enjoy the support of the masses. He said the country’s economy was already on the verge of collapse and now the country was facing a worse political crisis.
"Prime Minister Imran Khan’s only way out is to resign and conduct fresh elections," he said, adding that an impression was created that ministers could not deliver, therefore, their portfolios had been changed. He said by giving the interior ministry to Ijaz Shah after holding the portfolio for eight months Mr Khan had admitted his failure.

[Jpost] A senior Fatah official has said that some Arab states have been exerting "immense pressure" on the Paleostinians to accept Trump’s peace plan, also known as the "deal of the century."
The unnamed official told al-Khaleej Online news that Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... was spearheading the campaign of pressure to force the Paleostinians to positively respond to Trump’s upcoming plan.
"Some Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, are very interested in the deal of the century," the official claimed. "They are using all means, including political and financial blackmail, to force the Paleostinians to accept the deal of the century despite all the dangers it poses to the Paleostinian cause."
The Paleostinian leadership, the official said, will not submit to any Arab, American or even Israeli pressure to accept the deal.
Meanwhile, ...back at the argument, Livia had made her point with her knee to Jane's stomach... Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial... said on Sunday that the US administration has nothing to offer the Paleostinians after all the decisions it has taken since December 2017, including recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the transfer of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and the suspension of US financial aid to the Paleostinians.
Abbas further criticized Israel for deducting millions of shekels from tax and tariff revenues it collects on behalf of the Paleostinians in response to payments made by the PA to families of security prisoners and Paleostinians killed during attacks on Israelis.
Abbas said Israel rejected his offer to sit with the Paleostinians and Americans to resolve the dispute over the payments. "We have been paying salaries to the families of prisoners, deaders and maimed Paleostinians since 1965," he said. "It is our duty to care for their families."
Abbas told the Arab foreign ministers that he came to consult with them about the Paleostinians’ planned measures to counter Israeli and American policies. "The Paleostinian cause is not the cause of the Paleostinian people alone, but the cause of the Arabs and Moslems," he said. "We are facing difficult and impossible circumstances. We came to listen to you and see what are the views you could give us so we can take the appropriate decision at the appropriate time, especially as we are about to convene our Paleostinian Central Council in mid-May to take appropriate, decisive and final decisions."
Earlier, Abbas held talks in Cairo with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi and discussed the latest developments in the Paleostinian arena, particularly in the aftermath of Israel’s decision to deduct Paleostinian tax and tariff revenues.•

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Arab League ...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing... has pledged $100 million per month to the Paleostinian Authority to make up for funds withheld by Israel because of payments made to the families of Paleostinian attackers and prisoners.
1) Pledges are easy, paying is hard.
2) Better your money than ours, for the duration while y’all still have some. In the meantime, we’ll continue reducing our costs per barrel while producing more barrels, looking forward to the day when you look back at your foolishness in throwing away limited assets on a cause such as this.
Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial... addressed the vaporous Arab League in Cairo on Sunday as part of a diplomatic effort to rebuff the Trump administration’s Middle East peace plan, which American officials indicate could be released this summer.
Abbas says, "the Arabs need to be engaging actively at this critical time."
Abbas says the Paleostinians reject the deal and demand Israel fully withdraw from all occupied territories.
Israel captured the West Bank, Gazoo Strip, and east Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war. The Paleostinians seek those territories for a future state.

[PRESSTV] Israel has refused to issue travel permits for members of the small Christian community living in the Gaza Strip to visit East Jerusalem al-Quds and the West Bank for Easter celebrations.
Israeli authorities denied travel permits for hundreds of those Palestinian Christians hoping to visit the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem City and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in East Jerusalem al-Quds, the Palestinian Ma’an news agency reported on Sunday.
Prominent Christians in Gaza had said on Saturday that no permits had been issued until then.
George Anton, a prominent Catholic Gaza activist, said Catholics in Gaza were “upset” and “disappointed” at not having received permits.
“We don’t see any reason to refuse our permits,” The Guardian quoted Anton as saying.
The Israeli military last week announced it would let only 200 Christians aged 55 and older for Easter — which is celebrated by Catholics on Sunday and Orthodox Christians the following week — to travel to Jordan without stopping in Jerusalem al-Quds.
The Tel Aviv regime’s decision sparked protests, including by the Israeli human rights group Gisha, which called it “a further violation of Palestinians’ fundamental rights to freedom of movement, religious freedom and family life.”
In the past, many — though not all — members of Gaza’s 1,100-strong Christian minority had sometimes been granted exit permits to Jerusalem al-Quds and the West Bank for worship and to visit relatives at Easter and Christmas.

Says the Poop sitting behind a city walled to thwart invading muzzie hordes.
The Leonine Wall, which defines Leonine City, was constructed by Pope Leo IV following the sacking by Muslim raiders of Old St. Peter's Basilica in 846. Built from 848 to 852 as the only extension ever made to the walls of Rome, this three-kilometre wall completely encircled the Vatican Hill for the first time in its history.
Poop you worthless Moon Goddess Dhimmi, tear down that wall! After all you've already surrendered.
Not official yet, but all the leaks seem to suggest this is the plan. In addition to taking some crude out of the global market, this puts the Iran question at the heart of the American Chinese trade negotiations. Good way to underline Chinese impotence. https://t.co/puuSeg1ZoV
