They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) gunnies published a video on messaging app Telegram on Sunday night appearing to depict the execution of Sunni bully boyz and village chiefs accused of passing on information about jihadist activities to security forces.
In the 21-minute propaganda film, which features scenes of alleged recent fighting in eastern Diyala province and an explosives workshop, the gunnies warn Sunni members of the Hashd al-Shaabi paramilitia and local officials, known as mukhtars, not to collaborate with Iraqi security forces.
"Stop killing the Mujahedeen [holy warriors] and do not get involved in a fight doomed to defeat," one murderous Moslem says before executing a captive named as Hameed Rakan, an alleged Sunni fighter.
Another man named as Mohammed Abdullah, who they claim is the mukhtar of the village of Big Bahiza in Diyala, is also beheaded.
At least seven captives are executed in the graphic film, in which the gunnies pledge continued allegiance to ISIS leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ...the head of ISIS, or what remains of it, and a veteran of the Abu Graib jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us. ISIS remnants continue to operate in several mountainous and desert regions of Iraq despite their territorial defeat in 2017.
The Hamrin Mountains, 160 kilometers north of Baghdad, straddle the northern provinces of Saladin, Diyala and Kirkuk. They have become a hotbed for the new insurgency developing in Iraq.
On Sunday, Iraqi counterterrorism forces killed the ISIS group’s "military governor" in the northern Hamrin Mountains and three of his aides in an operation backed by intelligence services and the US-led coalition, officials said.
"Based on info from the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, the Counter Terrorism Service targeted and eliminates the so-called Hamrin Mountains military governor of ISIS (ISIS) and his three aides," read a tweet by Yahya Rasul, spokesperson for the Iraqi Security Media Cell, late Sunday.
"The operation was supported by the Iraqi Army Aviation and aircraft from our Coalition partners."
Two brigades of the elite Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Forces (ICTS) launched an operation last week against ISIS remnants operating along the mountain range in the north of the country following a green light from Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.
The headquarters of ISIS propaganda newspaper al-Nabaa was targeted on the first day of the offensive.
ISIS gunnies are exploiting security gaps opened up between Kurdish Peshmerga lines and areas controlled by the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF).
In the wake of the Kurdistan Region’s independence referendum, the Iraqi government launched an offensive against the Peshmerga, forcing it to withdraw from the territories considered disputed between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The no man’s land between the rival armies has left ungoverned spaces where holy warriors have been allowed to regroup.

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi military intelligence forces on Sunday killed an Islamic State militant and destroyed a number of terrorist hotbeds in the eastern province of Diyala.
“Acting upon accurate intelligence reports, a security operation was launched to destroy Islamic State terrorist hotbeds in Abu Sayda district in Diyala,” Alghad Press quoted the Iraqi military intelligence directorate as saying in a press statement.
The Iraqi troops killed an Islamic State militant and destroyed several terrorist hotbeds following fierce clashes with the militant group, the statement read.
A large cache of military equipment, bombs and explosive belts were found inside the hideouts, added the statement.
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – Two Iraqi soldiers were wounded on Saturday night when an Islamic State sniper opened fire at them in Diyala province, a local source was quoted as saying.
“A security checkpoint located at the entrance of Hamrin basin, 54 km northeast of Baqubah, came under a sniper attack by Islamic State militants late last night,” the source told Baghdad Today news website on Sunday.
“Two Iraqi soldiers were wounded as a result of the attack,” added the source, warning that the sniper attacks by Islamic State militants have claimed the lives of several security forces in the past months.
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – An Iraqi serviceman was killed Sunday in an armed attack in the rural province of Diyala, a security source said as the country still suffers from the lack of stability despite the defeat of the Islamic State militant group in December 2017.
“Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a serviceman while crossing a highway near the Shia-majority city of Khan Bani Saad in the province of Diyala, leaving him dead,” the source told Almaalomah news website.
“Security forces cordoned off the site and launched a manhunt for the culprits,” said the source.

[Jpost] IDF forces, together with the Israel Security Agency and Border Police, placed in durance vile I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece! 13 "wanted Paleostinians" in the West Bank overnight on Sunday who are suspected of being involved in terrorist activities, popular terrorism and violent disturbances against civilians and security forces.
[IsraelTimes] Adnan Geith has been scooped up several times in recent months in connection with a land sale investigation.
Israeli police tossed in the calaboose Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! the Paleostinian governor of Jerusalem on Sunday, after he allegedly violated an order previously given to him by authorities, police and his lawyer said.
The governor, Adnan Gheith, has been arrested several times in recent months in connection with an investigation related to a land sale.
His lawyer Mohammed Mahmud said he had been given a six-month order not to visit the West Bank or contact certain people there, and police accused him of violating the order.
Police front man Micky Rosenfeld confirmed that Gheith had been arrested and was being questioned, but could not provide further details.
Official Paleostinian news agency Wafa said he was released later Sunday and given a NIS 1,000 fine ($280).
PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial... appointed Ghaith, a resident of Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood and a longtime Fatah activist, to the role of PA Jerusalem governor late last August.
In his role, Ghaith is responsible for overseeing PA activity in the neighborhoods within its jurisdiction, on the edges and outside of Jerusalem.
Police had previously investigated Gheith over suspicions he was involved in the Paleostinian Authority’s arrest last October of American-Paleostinian Issam Akel, who was accused of involvement in selling an East Jerusalem building to Jewish buyers.
Such sales are considered treasonous among Paleostinians concerned with Israeli settlers buying property in East Jerusalem.
Israel seldom arrests high-ranking PA officials. However, corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds... Israeli security forces have arrested Ghaith many times in the past several years, including on suspicion of incitement, his brother Hani said.
Paleostinian officials have condemned his arrests and claimed it was intended to pressure the Paleostinian leadership over Akel’s case.
Akel was sentenced to life by a Paleostinian court, but he was reportedly later allowed to leave to the United States.
PA activities are barred from Jerusalem by Israel. As a result, the PA has a minister for Jerusalem affairs and a Jerusalem governor located in al-Ram, just on the other side of Israel’s security barrier.
[IsraelTimes] Red Thingy reveals nurse Louisa Akavi and two Syrian drivers kidnapped by the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group more than five years ago, may still be alive.
New Zealand revealed Monday that it had dispatched a special forces unit to Syria to search for nurse Louisa Akavi who was kidnapped by the Islamic State group more than five years ago.
Details of the kidnapping had been kept under wraps until the International Committee of the Red Thingy appealed on Sunday for news about 62-year-old Akavi and two Syrian drivers kidnapped with her in October 2013.
They were in a Red Thingy convoy delivering supplies to medical facilities in Idlib, northwest Syria, when gunnies stopped the vehicles and kidnapped seven people. Four were released the next day.
New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters said information about the kidnapping had not been previously released for fear that any publicity would place them at greater risk.
But he said it was believed Akavi was still held by IS and there were ongoing operations to locate her which included the deployment of a small multi-agency team based in Iraq.
"This has involved members of the NZDF (New Zealand defense force) drawn from the Special Operations Force, and personnel have visited Syria from time to time as required," Peters said.
"This non-combat team was specifically focused on locating Louisa and identifying opportunities to recover her."
The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... has reported the Red Thingy has reason to believe she is alive, because at least two people described seeing her in December at a clinic in Sousa, one of the final villages to be held by IS jihadists.
Some of the witnesses said they saw her performing medical duties at clinics and hospitals under IS control, indicating that she was no longer held in a cell and was able to use her nursing skills to win a modicum of freedom.

The source said at least ten Liwaa al-Quds fighters were killed as a result of the ambush by the Islamic State terrorists.
This latest ambush by the Islamic State marks the second time in less than a week that a pro-government convoy has been attacked by the terrorist group in eastern Syria.
Since they lost almost all of their territory in eastern and central Syria, the Islamic State has relied on their sleeper cells to carry out attacks against the Syrian military and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Both the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and SDF are currently working to clear the last areas under the Islamic State control.
