Well, she should have seen this coming. A Taiwanese woman known as the "Bikini Climber" because she often climbed mountains in bikinis was found frozen and dead after a 20-meter-fall, according to reports.
Gigi Wu, 36, was renowned in the east for climbing mountains in a bikini and posting sexy photos from mountain peaks. But, apparently, she made one excursion too many.
Eight days into a 25-day solo hike on Saturday Wu reportedly called a friend to say she’d fell down a ravine in Central Taiwan’s Yushan Mountain. She also said she was trapped at the bottom of the ravine with a broken leg and could not get out, Taiwan News reported (via the New York Post).
Due to weather conditions, rescuers could not reach Wu for over a day.
Authorities said that the tempers [sic] had fallen to freezing overnight.
By the time Wu was fund she had already died from exposure.
According to the Post:
Wu, who also went by Wu Chi-yun, was a local social-media star who posed on some of Taiwan’s highest peaks in barely-there outfits.
In one image, she stands in a rainbow bikini and blue hat, with treacherous boulders in the background.
On Christmas Eve, she shared an image showing her scratched-up legs after being injured in a fall that she said she was lucky to survive. Yeah, there's pix.

Actually she changed once she got to the top. She hiked in normal clothes. But she did it alone which meant when she got into trouble, nobody could help her.

[Houston Chronicle] As she prepares for her 107th birthday, Pasadena resident Lucille Brown gives advice for a good life. "Go to church. Be close to God. Don’t drink. Don’t smoke. Those things will kill you," she said.
At almost 107 years old, Pasadena resident Lucille Brown doesn’t think of major historical events such as the Great Depression when citing what has had the most impact on her life.
"Meeting my husband," answers Brown, whose birthday will be Jan. 28. "I had just graduated beauty school. I knew my husband’s nephew, who was actually older than my husband, and he introduced me and him. I fell for him right then and there."
"I lived with him all these years. All these years until he passed away when he was 66," she said of her late husband, Clem, who was a carpenter and supervised carpenters. "We had been married for almost 40 years."
For years, Lucille Brown, a Louisiana native, taught piano lessons. "Oh. And I also taught accordion," she said.
"I taught piano up until here just a few years ago. But the kids stopped practicing; so I told their parents, ’You’re just wasting your money. I can teach them all I know, but if they won’t practice at home, you’re just wasting your money.’ So, I stopped teaching them. Why would you even take lessons if you aren’t going to practice?

[IceAgeNow] Devastating news for human-caused global warming proponents.
"The sun, not CO2, drives Earth’s climate," says Dr Roger Higgs, long-time consultant geologist and sedimentologist.
Higgs bases his statement on four vital points:
Global warming and cooling are driven by the sun, specifically by the solar-sourced Interplanetary Magnetic Field, which regulates incoming cosmic rays, which in turn govern cloudiness and thus global temperature (the breathtakingly elegant Svensmark Theory).
Global temperature oscillations lag 25 years behind the causative solar magnetic fluctuations. This 25-year lag is due to ocean thermal inertia in remarkable agreement with the 15-20-year time lag estimated by Abdussamatov et al. 2012).
The idea that CO2 is the main climate driver, despite its scarcity in Earth’s atmosphere, ie 400 parts per million, near plant-starvation level, contrasts starkly with CO2’s 1,000 to 4,000 ppm levels for most of the last 600 million years.
Earth is now cooling. Global warming ended in 2016: proof that the sun, not CO2, drives Earth’s climate. Moreover, from AD500 to 1200, CO2 levels were anti-correlated with Earth’s temperature.
"The reality is that man’s industrialization just happened to occur in a period of solar-driven warming, a mere coincidence, causing governments to needlessly spend trillions of taxpayer dollars on CO2-reduction efforts," says Dr Higgs.

The city plows come by ever few hours & throw up more slush to block the drive. We are getting inches of rain on this mess today, to be followed by severe cold. I pity those who are just leaving the stuff on their streets and drives.

[ELUNIVERSAL] The sectoral vice president of communication and culture, Jorge Rodríguez, denounced the "training of terrorist cells, by factors of the right-wing Popular Will Party (VP), to generate violent scenarios in the mobilization" opposition called for this Wednesday 23 from January.
According to preliminary investigations, five or six weeks ago terrorist groups were captured in Caracas and transferred to the cities of San Cristóbal (Táchira) and Cúcuta (Colombia) to complete phases of training and "perpetrate acts of violence and establish false positives" .
In addition, he specified that in the training would be used the weapons of war stolen last Monday, by a group of assailants affiliated to the Command of Zone 43 of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), in the detachment of Urban Security, located in the parish Petare, Miranda state.
"The weapons were handed over to civilians, belonging to the terrorist cell, Voluntad Popular, for the perpetration of acts of violence, injuries and deaths in the opposition demonstration on January 23," he said from Miraflores, Caracas, reported AVN.
Rodriguez explained that of 51 weapons of war stolen by the "group of assailants", only 40 managed to be recovered, leaving only 11 "in the hands of terrorist factors."
According to the sectoral vice-president, the false positive was intended to standardize facsimile snuffies of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), achieving the objective of "firing against the opposition demonstration" and comply with the orders of the US vice president, Mike Pence.

Maduro has a problem. The economy is totally messed up. There is no nice path to staying in power, not one that doesn't involve calling out the army and killing a bunch of Venezuelans. Don't want that on the international news!
He likely has enough stolen boodle stashed away in offshore banks to live out his days comfortably but he can't just ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after lounging around the pool at the Motel 6 in Abu Dabu, not without worrying about being hunted down by a whole range of vengeance-seekers ranging from the International Criminal Court and crazies from the opposition parties to angry citizens looking for revenge. Can't go. Can't stay. What to do?
If only there was some sort of dictator theme park, like Dictator World at Disneyland or one of those African game parks, where he could live out his days protected from the outside world behind bullet-proof plexiglass while people gawked and jeered. I think it would be a great tourist attraction and facilitates the problem of regime change in what our glorious President referred to as sh1thole countries. It's a win-win!
WASHINGTON (AP) ‐ Russia’s efforts to expand its influence and China’s modernizing military are among the "ever more diverse" threats facing the U.S., according to a major intelligence report released Tuesday.
The National Intelligence Strategy report, issued every four years, also singles out such potential threats as North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, the growing cyber capabilities of U.S. adversaries and global political instability.
The report, which sets out the priorities for the various agencies that make up the U.S. intelligence community, notes that the United States "faces an increasingly complex and uncertain world in which threats are becoming ever more diverse and interconnected."
Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said in a letter accompanying the report that the U.S. agencies must adapt to respond to what he calls a "turbulent and complex" environment.
"We face significant changes in the domestic and global environment," Coats said. "We must be ready to meet the 21st century challenges and to recognize emerging threats and opportunities."
He said the intelligence community must improve cooperation among member agencies and foster more innovation. He also said agencies must do more to increase transparency to raise public trust in their work.
CHICAGO (Reuters) - U.S. Army pilot Shaun Perez spent ten hours flying an Apache helicopter over Afghanistan, providing gun cover for Special Forces soldiers on the ground as they hunted for high-value targets, guns and weapons.
Returning to his base at dawn, he donned a fresh uniform before shutting himself into a small room to secure the next stage of his career - as a commercial airline pilot.
He would win the job in a video interview that day in August 2017, joining hundreds of other U.S. military helicopter pilots who have taken attractive offers from domestic airlines trying ease a global pilot shortage.
Perez took advantage of one of the tightest labor markets in the United States, created by years of slow hiring, a wave of pending retirements at major U.S. airlines, and Federal Aviation Administration rules that in 2013 increased the number of required training hours from 250 to 1,500.
The industry’s aggressive recruitment of military helicopter pilots is one of the most striking examples yet of the contortions required to quickly train new commercial aviators since the FAA increased the minimum flying requirement. The pilot shortage threatens the industry’s growth just as travel demand booms.
TOKYO (AFP) - Sony will shift its European headquarters from Britain to the Netherlands to avoid Brexit-related customs issues, but operations at its current UK company will remain unchanged, a company spokesman said on Wednesday (Jan 23).
"We are moving the location of our European headquarters' registration to the Netherlands" by the end of March, company spokesman Takashi Iida told AFP.
The relocation is aimed at avoiding cumbersome customs-related procedures after Britain leaves the European Union, he said.
The Japanese electronics giant late last year registered a new company in the Netherlands, and plans to integrate its existing European headquarters in Britain into the new company.
The move will make the firm "a company based in the EU", so the bloc's common customs procedures will apply to Sony's European operations after Britain relinquishes membership, Iida said.
Sony, however, will not move personnel and operations from the existing UK company to the Netherlands, and "the only change we will make is the change of registered location of the company", he added.
Its rival Panasonic last year moved its European headquarters from Britain to the Netherlands over concerns about potential Brexit-related tax issues.

Consider poor Airbus; they have just recently discovered the coming Brexit and now have their panties in a knot because most of their wings are built in the UK. And there is currently no sort of agreement between the UK and EASA for airworthiness approvals.

AACHEN, Germany (Reuters) - The leaders of France and Germany signed a new treaty on Tuesday to update their 1963 post-war reconciliation accord, aiming to reinvigorate the European Union’s main axis as growing euroskeptic nationalism tests the bloc’s cohesion.
At a ceremony in the German border city of Aachen, an historic symbol of European concord, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron sought to show they can provide fresh leadership for the troubled EU project.
But some analysts doubt that France and Germany can still lead an EU that has grown to 28 members with diverse and often conflicting interests and priorities.

[DAWN] KARACHI: Two coppers were detained on Monday over charges of injuring a man and his pregnant wife by resorting to "uncalled for" firing on two suspects who snatched an official rifle from them in Korangi-5 area on Sunday night, officials said.
The passerby couple, Adnan Arfeen, 32, and his wife Saqiba Khan, 28, were shot at and maimed when the police resorted to firing at the fleeing armed pillion riders.
The police said two coppers riding a cycle of violence tried to stop two suspects also riding a cycle of violence at Korangi-5 near the model park. The suspects stopped and snatched the official rifle from one of the coppers and fled.
However, a hangover is the wrath of grapes... another armed policeman shot up the fleeing suspects.
As a result, the passerby couple sustained bullet injuries, said DIG East Amir Farooqi.
The senior officer admitted that the couple was hurt by the firing conducted by the policeman.
Investigators collected two spent bullet casings fired from the official rifle (SMG) while there was no evidence that the fleeing suspects also resorted to firing, revealed the officer.
The suspects abandoned the rifle at a short distance and fled.
"The suspected dacoits took away the SMG of one of the coppers, but to resort to firing while chasing in such a situation was uncalled for, which proved fatal," opined DIG East Amir Farooqi.

[IsraelTimes] Police ambush Bedouin traffickers as they receive 100kg of drugs from Egyptian narcos at security fence, firefight ensues.
Rare police footage broadcast by Channel 13 news this week shows an attempt to smuggle around 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of drugs into Israel across the Egyptian border.
A grainy photo, but no video, can be seen at the link.
The footage, captured in January 2018, depicts several dozen smugglers congregating near the border fence while unbeknownst to them, an Israel Border Police force lies in ambush nearby.
The Egyptian smugglers place ladders along the six-meter high fence and begin throwing drug packages into the hands of the Israeli Bedouin smugglers waiting on the other side.
At that point, heavy fire is directed at the smugglers from the Egyptian side, possibly by Egyptian security forces. Israeli coppers then emerge from their hiding and also begin firing. One Egyptian smuggler can be seen falling from a ladder after being shot.
The Israeli Bedouin smugglers load the drugs onto their vehicles and flee, with authorities giving chase.
The smugglers were eventually caught and incarcerated Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! , and their drug haul was confiscated.
Correction: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly said that Native American activist Nathan Phillips fought in the Vietnam War. Phillips said he served in the U.S. Marines but was never deployed to Vietnam. There is a difference between "I was in Vietnam." and "I was in during Vietnam." So now, after they blew an insignificant incident totally out of proportion and disrupted the lives of everyone associated with Covington High School, WAPO publishes a correction? The damage is done, innocent lives have been put at risk because Jeff Bezos hates Donald Trump. It's too late for a correction. They committed libel for partisan purposes and they need to be sued for all they're worth.
The most troubling aspect of this story, aside from the death threats to innocent kids, is that WAPO and the rest of the mainstream media made no attempt to verify or corroborate anything that Nathan Phillips told them. They presented it without question to the American people as the Gospel truth. Other outlets across the country eagerly ran the story without question.
Nor did they make any attempt to get the students' side of the story. That's Journalism 101, folks, and there's no excuse for not doing it.
This is slanted, one sided, chickenshit, biased, bigoted, dishonest and hateful fake news at its worst. They know better. They can try to characterize it as a mistake, or just sloppy journalism, but they know better. They lied, deliberately and with malicious intent.
I happened to be in the room yesterday when Mrs. Uluque had ABC's The View on television. (Trust me, I do not make a habit of this.) I was astounded when Whoopi Goldberg began the show by admitting that the media made a snap judgment about the students before gathering all the facts.
"Why do we keep making the same mistakes?" she asked.
Behar smiled as she said this and exhibited no shame or remorse, as if her hatred for Trump is a valid excuse for outright lies. She didn't care at all if those students are getting death threats or if their school had to be closed because they're afraid it might be bombed or shot up.
So the mask slipped. It isn't just Behar, it's all of her colleagues in America's mainstream media. They were all complicit. They were all willing to sacrifice their integrity for the higher cause of their hatred for Trump.
I have learned that these so-called news organizations are unreliable, more like propagandists for the Democrat Party and the Deep State. But it's truly frightening that millions of people across the country still believe them. First I get scared and then I get seriously pissed off.

Not Elder: another old person, but Elder: as in respected village elder.
There is a lot of context here most won't know. Natives can't be Elders until they pass 55 years of age, it's the custom. I always though that seemed a bit too young until I started tracking the die off of the natives doing my family history research - a great many don't survive to age 65, due to alcohol, accidents or disease. The convention is to call any native who looks old enough an Elder, even if they are just old enough and lack any other distinction. What little I was able to find about Nathan Phillips the day the incident news broke showed that he liked to get his face in the news, that he had some good PR people supporting him, and that his story / demeanor / language was very, very fishy. No one has yet disclosed whether or not he is enrolled in any federally recognized tribe. I know I am. I have a plastic ID card with its barcode to back up what I say.
Reckless Disregard Of The Truth
reckless disregard of the truth
or
reckless disregard for the truth
1 : disregard of the truth or falsity of a defamatory statement by a person who is highly aware of its probable falsity or entertains serious doubts about its truth or when there are obvious reasons to doubt the veracity and accuracy of a source [the knowingly false statement and the false statement made with reckless disregard of the truth, do not enjoy constitutional protection "Garrison v. Louisiana, 379 U.S. 64 (1964)"]
2 : a reckless lack of attention to the truth that misleads or deceives another (as a magistrate) [whether false statements were made intentionally or in reckless disregard of the truth in support of the warrant "State v. O'Neil, 879 P.2d 950 (1994)"]
