[NYP] The grieving mother of a young girl killed by MS-13 gang members on Long Island was fatally struck by a car on Friday while preparing for a candlelight vigil at her daughter’s memorial, cops said.
Evelyn Rodriguez ‐ who attended President Trump’s State of the Union Address to shed light on the brutal slaying of 16-year-old Kayla Cuevas ‐ was struck by a vehicle in Brentwood at around 4 p.m. ‐ two years to the day her daughter’s body was found in a wooded area off the same block, according to police.
"My thoughts and prayers are with Evelyn Rodriguez this evening, along with her family and friends. #RIPEvelyn," Trump tweeted Friday.
Rodriguez, 50, was on Ray Court ‐ near where the remains of Kayla and her best friend Nisa Mickens, 15, were found. The two had been beaten with baseball bats and hacked with a machete by MS-13 gang members.
The mom was preparing for the vigil when she and a woman driving a white 2016 Nissan Rogue got into a heated altercation over a memorial for the two girls that had been dismantled in front of a house on the block, cops said.
The woman was a relative of someone who lived at the home, according to police.
In video footage posted on Long Island News 12’s Web site, Rodriguez and a man can be seen confronting the driver.
That’s when the SUV driver accelerated and fatally struck Rodriguez, cops said. The network did not air that part of the footage.

Hmmm, My question is just a bad cousin, or MS-13 member objecting/warning her. Either way, with video and witnesses the person responsible should be known in a couple days.

[HOT AIR] When I wrote about this story Thursday afternoon, at least 70 homes had exploded and/or caught fire in the area of Lawrence, Massachusetts and authorities were scrambling to put out the fires and also to evacuate the area. It seemed obvious that there was some kind of problem with the gas lines but no one was too clear about what had started it. All anyone could point to was a notice posted on the gas company’s website Thursday morning which said they were going to be doing some work in the neighborhood.
Today, the Associated Press reports the cause of the incident is still an open question:
#8
1) Possibly aging inferstructure
2) Possible shoddy workmanship in either maintence
or installation
3) Possible illegal tapping into the system by
" customers "
4) Possible work done by incompetent homeowners or
fly by night "contractors" extending natural
gas in their homes.
5) As stated above, crappy components
6) All of the above
Every so often with a natural gas system there will be accidents. Homes leveled by explosions or and fires. This goes beyond one home system though.

From her comfortable byre,
"Oh, I do abhor fire,
So thank goodness it ain't f----n' C-----a!"

Unbelievable! Revenge of the trees? A homeowner with a chainsaw took down a tree several years ago in the neighborhood and wiped out the power for several hours. Afterwards he was dubbed Paul Bunyan.

....And most, if not all, of the Russian stuff will still get through, especially as FB still considers American conservatives a greater threat than the Soviets Russians.

[ToloNews] Senior Chinese and Pak officials in a meeting in Islamabad decided to accelerate and extend the $50 billion China-Pakistain Economic Corridor towards Afghanistan, Indian media reported on Monday.
The meeting was held between China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi's and Pak officials in Islamabad this week, the report said.
Wang visited Pakistain from September 7 to 9 and held talks with Imran Khan ... aka Taliban Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight... ’s cabinet members.
"Our bilateral cooperation to get off under the new circumstances," said Geng Shuang, Chinese Foreign Ministry front man, as quoted in a report by India’s The Economic Times.
He said China and Pakistain have agreed to extend the China-Pakistain Economic Corridor (CPEC) towards west to enable more people to benefit from it.
"The two sides will advance the CPEC in the light of Pakistain’s economic and social development and people's needs," Geng said. "We will identify the pathways and cooperation for the CPEC. We will accelerate the industrial cooperation and the projects of the people’s livelihoods and extend the CPEC to the western area and make the people gets benefits from it."
According to the report, India has India has protested over the economic corridor, a flagship project of China's Belt and Road Initiative as it traversed through the Pakistain-Indian Kashmiree (PoK).
Wang in April announced plans to extend it towards Afghanistan during the first trilateral foreign ministers meeting held in India.
The CPEC was originally conceived to be a strategic link with highways, rail and pipeline links between China's Xinjiang and Pakistain's Gwadar port.
But several projects have been extended to different provinces following allegations that all the main projects are garnered by Pakistain's dominant Punjab 1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots.... province, the Economic Times reported.
Pakistain Prime Minister Imran Khan in the past had accused the previous Pak government of depriving other provinces, specially Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on the western borders with Afghanistan.
"During the (Wang's) visit, we have reached consensus on advancing the CPEC... The key is to accelerate industrial cooperation and the projects related with people's livelihoods. To extend the CPEC to the western areas and make the people get benefits from these project," Geng said.
During his visit to Pakistain, Wang said there were currently 22 cooperation projects in Pakistain within the framework of the CPEC of which nine have been completed and 13 are under construction.
The total investment of the projects was to the tune of $19 billion and they have created 70,000 new jobs, he was quoted as saying by the state-run Xinhua news agency.
Chinese officials said it is not the practice to announce any economic packages during China’sforeign minister's visit.
The new government of Pakistain said it will regard its ties with China as a cornerstone of its foreign policy.

The material contains Iridium - 192, a radioactive isotope used in construction and manufacturing.
According to local media, the container belonged to a radiography company.
It was made of stainless steel and was covered in radioactive hazard markings.
The employee left the truck unattended in the Alvaro Obregon area of Mexico City last week.
When he returned and saw the vehicle had disappeared, he contacted the authorities.
There have been several incidents of missing or stolen radioactive material in Mexico in recent months.
In February, thieves targeted a vehicle in the city of Leon, taking a nuclear densometer, a device used in geotechnical engineering to measure density.
Other material was reported stolen in April.
Authorities warned people not to go near the container and establish a safety perimeter of at least 30 metres if it is found.
[DAWN] Two more people have died after a driver ploughed into a crowded Chinese public square, bringing the corpse count to 11, local officials said on Thursday.
The incident on Wednesday evening injured another 44 people, according to officials from Hengdong city in central Hunan province.
Police have taken the driver ‐ a man in his 40s surnamed Yang ‐ into custody, describing him as a "vengeful repeat offender".
"He drove the car by himself into the crowd at Yujiang Square that night and had with him shovels and daggers to attack the crowd, intending to cause serious damage," a Thursday police statement said.
Yang’s previous offences included drug charges, theft and intentionally causing hurt, according to the statement. Pictures reportedly from the scene and shared on social media showed a red SUV with a crushed bumper.
Videos of the incident circulated briefly on social media, but were quickly removed by censors.
Violent crime has risen in China in recent decades as the country’s economic boom has widened the gap between rich and poor. Police have also previously blamed such attacks on murderous Moslem separatists.

[DAWN] A college student was kidnapped and raped by three men in India's northern Haryana state while on her way home from a tuition class, the latest sexual attack to shock the country.
The 19-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop when she was allegedly kidnapped, drugged and raped, police said on Friday.
"She knows the three accused as they are from the same village (as the girl). They are on the run at the moment," said Anirudh Kumar, a local police official.
Haryana, governed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, is a largely rural and conservative state.
"Our prime minister says save your daughter and educate them, how can we do that?" the mother of the victim told news hounds on Friday, referring to a 2015 campaign launched by Modi in Haryana called "Save your daughters, Educate your daughters".
"We were made to run from pillar to post before our complaint was taken up.... All we want is justice for our daughter."

[DAWN] A British parliamentary team has rejected a lobby petition demanding a parliamentary debate on the issue of deportation of former Pak finance minister Ishaq Dar, describing its contents as "libellous".
The petition started by an activist from the UK about a month ago has so far gathered around 82,000 signatures.
Under the UK parliamentary system, an individual or a group can highlight an issue of public importance through a lobby petition and get signatures to gather support for the cause. Once the petition gets over 100,000 signatures, the issue involved is debated in the House of Commons, the lower house of British parliament.

[DAWN] SAHIWAL: A public school headmistress tortured a Class II student for allegedly using her toilet in an emergency.
The incident happened at the Government Girls Middle School in village 2/10-L near Harappa city on Thursday noon.
Iram Shahzadi was so critically injured that she received 10 stitches to her private organs. Dr Zahid confirmed to Dawn over phone that the child’s private organs were maimed. She was admitted to the DHQ Hospital in a critical condition.
The girl’s family claimed when they submitted an application for registration of a case, Harappa police not only allegedly refused to register it, but also discouraged the girl’s father from moving against headmistress Farkhanda Batool.
The parents claimed that the police also refused to issue them a medical docket.
Sources said that on Friday Shahzadi’s parents succeeded in getting a medical docket from Harappa area magistrate Tajammul.
Shahzadi’s mother Sakeena Bibi told Dawn that the medical superintendent of DHQ teaching hospital conducted a medical examination of her daughter that confirmed critical injuries to her private parts. The parents demanded a departmental inquiry from the education chief executive officer and registration of a criminal case against the headmistress.
Iram Shahzadi, 6, is a resident of village 2/10-L. On Thursday morning at school, she wanted to use a toilet and in the urgency she used the headmistress’s toilet as the other washrooms were non-functional. When she came out, the headmistress saw her and started slapping Shahzadi.
Witnesses said the headmistress pushed and shoved the girl, who hit a cement wall and steps and started bleeding from her private parts. On seeing the blood, the headmistress took the girl to her room and locked the school’s main gate.
A witness said that later headmistress Batool took Shahzadi to her cousin’s house in the village and attempted to stop the bleeding. When the girl’s parents found out about the incident after two hours, they took their daughter to a private hospital where doctors examined her and gave her 10 stitches.
Sakeena told Dawn that the headmistress’s family, instead of apologising to them, were pressurising them against reporting the incident to the authorities.
"The headmistress’s relatives threatened us to be silent when we decided to move an application to Harappa cop shoppe," her husband, Riaz, added.

As opposed to using a minor in her toilet I suppose.
A nearby exoplanet orbiting within the habitable zone of a star just 4.2 light-years from Earth may be home to a vast ocean, boosting its chances of supporting life.
Since its discovery, questions about the conditions at the surface of Proxima b have been swirling; the planet’s mass is just about 1.3 times that of Earth’s, and the red dwarf star it circles is similar in age to our sun.
Studies over the last few years, however, have both bolstered hopes of its habitability and shot them down.
Now, a new study has once again raised the possibility that Proxima b could support life, suggesting that under the right conditions, the exoplanet could sustain liquid water. More at the link
NASA and one of our colleges designed a new custom designed solar sail material, theorizing they will be able to hit 20% - 25% of light speed - giving us the ability to send probes to nearby explanets in a matter of decades.
[DAWN] The number of foreign-born people in the United States grew last year to its highest share in over a century, according to Census Bureau data published on Thursday.
The increase took the number of foreign-born residents to 44.5 million in 2017, up 1.8 per cent from a year earlier.
The administration has said it wants to restrict legal immigration, and has stepped up efforts as well to detain and deport immigrants colonists in the country illegally since President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... took office in January 2017.
But so far, said Randy Capps, a demographer at the Migration Policy Institute, the government hasn’t restricted legal immigration much and America’s strong job market likely fuelled part of last year’s increase in the foreign-born population. "The economy’s definitely a factor in this, not just in more people coming but in more people staying," Capps said.
Foreign-born residents made up 13.7 per cent of the US population in 2017, up from 13.5 per cent in 2016, according to the Census Bureau’s estimates. That put the proportion of immigrants colonists in the United States last year at the highest since 1910, when they made up 14.7 per cent of the population.
