[DAWN] Suicide bombers killed more than 60 people at a mosque and a market in northeast Nigeria ... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border... on Tuesday, in a twin attack bearing the hallmarks of Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... and a day after US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... pledged greater support to fight the bad boys.
The blasts, said to have been carried out by young boys, happened shortly after 1:00 pm (1200 GMT) in Mubi, some 200 kilometres (125 miles) from the Adamawa state capital, Yola.
Imam Garki, from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said a joint assessment with the police and Red Thingy found that 26 people were killed and 56 were maimed, 11 of them critically.
They were transferred to the Federal Medical Centre in Yola for treatment.
But a medical source at the Mubi General Hospital said they had received 37 bodies, while a rescue worker involved in the relief operation said he counted 42 dead and 68 injured.
"These I saw with my own eyes. We were counting as they were being taken," said Sani Kakale.
Two local residents who attended funerals for the victims said the corpse count was much higher ‐ and could climb further.
"Before I left the cemetery I took part in the burial of 68 people. More bodies were being brought by families of the victims," said Muhammad Hamidu.
"I think this is the worst attack Mubi has ever witnessed. The human loss is unimaginable." Abdullahi Labaran added: "We left 73 freshly dug graves where each victim was buried. There are still unclaimed bodies at the hospital.

[AlAhram] At least 15 people including a priest were killed and scores maimed in Central African Republic's capital Bangui on Tuesday when unidentified button men attacked a church, a morgue official and rights groups said.
The attack occurred on the border of the predominantly Moslem PK 5 neighbourhood where 21 people were killed last month when a joint mission by UN peacekeepers and local security forces to disarm criminal gangs descended into open fighting.
Witnesses said Notre Dame de Fatima church was attacked with gunfire and grenades during a morning service, forcing trapped churchgoers to escape through a hole made in the church wall by police.
"Filled with panic, some Christians began to flee until bullets and grenades began to fall in the parish grounds, trapping those who remained in the compound," Moses Aliou, a priest at the church, told Rooters.
Nine dead bodies were taken to Bangui's Community Hospital, a morgue official said, while aid agency Doctors Without Borders said six people had died and 60 were maimed at other hospitals where it operates.
It is not clear if they were all killed in the church attack itself or during skirmishes that occurred afterwards in the surrounding area.
A priest named Albert Toungoumale Baba was among those rubbed out during the attack, said the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Bangui, Walter Brad Mazangue.
A crowd of thousands of angry, shouting protesters gathered as his body, covered by a sheet, was carried on a makeshift stretcher along dirt streets to the presidential palace, a Rooters witness said.
Although the button men were not identified, Central African Republic has seen frequent incidences of inter-faith violence since 2013 when mainly MoslemSeleka ...a 'mainly' Moslem rebel force in the Central African Republic that overthrew the govt, imposed a regime of rapine and looting on the country's non-Moslem population, and was then tossed by France. They still exist, getting funding and weapons from somewhere or other, licking their wounds, complaining about the oppression of Moslems, and occasionally raping and looting someone... rebels ousted President Francois Bozize.
Retaliation killings followed by "anti-balaka" gangs, drawn largely from Christian communities, and Moslem "self-defence" groups sprang up in PK5, claiming to protect the Moslem civilians concentrated there against efforts to drive them out.
The same church was previously attacked in 2014, when button men with grenades killed a priest and some worshippers.
After last month's deaths in PK5, demonstrators who blamed UN soldiers for firing on residents protesting against the operation to counter gangs carried the bodies of the dead to the gates of the UN mission, known as MINUSCA.
MINUSCA and the police were not immediately available for comment on Tuesday.
Article is in German. Here's a short summary:
In the night from 04/29 to 04/30 three police patrol cars came to the Ellwangen refugee reception center (former Bundeswehr barracks) to pick up a 23 y/o Togolese who was to be deported.
200 Africans surrounded the police, freed the Togolese (with handcuffs still on) and forced the police to withdraw to the center's guard area.
The refugees hit and damaged the patrol cars.
Later a security guard who was acting as a middleman at the behest of the refugees issued an ultimatum to the police.
If the police didn't remove the Togolese' handcuffs the refugees would storm the gate. (It is unclear whether they threatened to storm the center's outer gate and attack the town or the gate of the guard area and attack the police.)
The police surrendered the key to the handcuffs to the middleman. The Togolese has apparently vanished.
The police were commended by their superiors for staying calm. Reinforcements would have taken hours to arrive. The rioters will be criminally investigated.

What the hell happened to the Germans? I remember in the 80's there was an anti-US/Nato/Nuclear protest and the police smashed it. Then there was an anti-police brutality protest and the reporter actually said, "So the West German police went out to break some heads." And they smashed that one.

The police in a Western democracy at peace isn't supposed to be an internal occupation force.
The vast majority of inhabitants obeys the laws by consensus i.e there's a consent of the governed.
Merkel let in over a million of men of military age who share a cultural and legal consensus that is quite different and incompatible.
The consequences of this act are just staring to manifest themselves.
So far these incidents were always the result of a spontaneous escalation.
With just a little coordination interested parties could inflict great harm on Germany or Europe.
Think synchronized riots and looting at a multiple places that simply overwhelm the police's resources.
This was a standoff between six policemen and 200 refugees. The police expected deference, it wasn't equipped or prepared to impose German law on a large group of people using armed force.

[LI] The so-called Great March of Return held every Friday for the past four weeks at the Gaza-Israel border is falsely portrayed as a peaceful civilian protest by groups like Amnesty International. That false designation has led to claims that Israel is violating international law by using live fire against "protesters" who approach the border fence.
In fact, as we have documented weekly, the "protests" are actually military operations by Hamas and other terror groups using civilian protests as cover.
The purpose is to cut through, burn down, or pull down the border fence so that terrorists can infiltrate Israel to carry out operations. Even when the fence is not breached, explosives are placed next to the fence for later detonation.
[IsraelTimes] IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot said Palestinian terror groups have attempted to kidnap soldiers on the Gaza border.
At a ceremony marking the installation of a new top liaison to the Palestinians, Eisenkot said, “In recent weeks we’ve once again seen the complexity of the situation, when our forces found themselves facing mass protests that served as cover for terrorist actions, attacks on soldiers, attempts at kidnapping, attacks on military posts, and attempts to infiltrate [Israeli] towns.” The IDF chief did not elaborate.
[IsraelTimes] Security forces arrested two Palestinians on Tuesday after they were caught with three pipe bombs at the entrance to the Samaria Military Court in the northern West Bank, police said. The youths were also said to be in possession of a bag containing a gas canister. The two youngsters, aged 14, were from the West Bank city of Jenin.
Border police said that sappers were working to defuse the devices, and that the entrance to the court remained closed.
Police later clarified that one of the three pipes contained explosive materials and that the canister was empty.
[IsraelTimes] East Jerusalem residents who allegedly wanted to gun down Israeli soldiers in the West Bank were known to security forces
Prosecutors on Tuesday charged three Paleostinian residents of East Jerusalem with planning to carry out an attack against Israelis on behalf of the Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede, terrorist group.
According to the indictment filed at the Jerusalem District Court, Naseem Hamada, Izz al-Din Atun and Obeida Amira were "terrorist operatives" known to Israeli security services.
The three, all from East Jerusalem’s Sur Baher neighborhood, were charged with contact with a foreign agent, membership in a terrorist organization and conspiring to carry out a terror attack.
A fourth suspect, identified only as A.A., was under investigation for suspected involvement in planning the attack, but the state prosecutor’s office has yet to decide whether to file charges against him.
The charge sheet said Hamada, Atun and Amira were placed in durance vile Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! in "recent weeks" after a joint police-Shin Bet operation uncovered their plan to open fire on IDF soldiers at a bus stop outside the settlement of Oranit, in the central West Bank.
During interrogation, Hamada revealed that he was the group’s ringleader, and was taking orders from Hamas operatives in the Gazoo Strip.
The investigation also revealed that Atun and Amira traveled to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... last year to visit Hamas figures Mahmoud Atun and Musa Azari, who were exiled under the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange, and received thousands of dollars to help fund the attack.
Prosecutors have asked the court to remand the suspects in jug until the end of the legal proceedings against them.
Earlier this year, the Shin Bet accused Turkey of helping Hamas launder money for its military activities, and asserted that Ankara was in "direct contact" with the Paleostinian terrorist group.
The security service said that Zaher Jabarin, a senior Hamas operative who also settled in Turkey after being expelled in the 2011 prisoner exchange, was smuggling money into the West Bank to fund terror attacks. Jabarin, who is also an Israeli citizen, was arrested in January with 91,000 euros in cash on him, which Israeli authorities said he intended to hand over to the terrorist group.

[UCA News] A bomb blast shook a Catholic church in the southern Philippines on April 29, a day after Southeast Asian leaders were warned of a real threat of terror attacks in the region. Philippine officials blamed the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, which have claimed allegiance to the Islamic State, for the blast that wounded two people in the city of Koronadal.
Another bomb was later found outside a convenience store in the city, three blocks from the St. Anthony Parish cathedral where the first blast occurred. Central Mindanao police chief Marcelo Morales said, "This is a diversionary tactic [of the terrorists] because of a series of arrests we made and military operations against lawless groups."
The blast happened after Sunday Masses while baptism ceremonies were taking place inside the church. Police sources said the bomb "bore the signature of an Islamic extremist group."
The day before, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore warned Southeast Asian leaders that the region is facing "very real" threats from terror and cyber-attacks. Lee said, "We need to be resilient to both conventional threats, and also non-conventional threats such as terrorism and cyberattacks."
Indonesian terrorism expert, Ansyaad Mbai, said the threat of cyber-attacks is a reality in Indonesia with a network known as Saracen allegedly behind the spread of hate speech. Mbai, former head Indonesia's National Counterterrorism Agency, said the group intends to sow division ahead of upcoming elections.

[AAWSAT] The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces kicked off on Tuesday the final stage in its battle to expel the ISIS terrorist group from eastern Syria.
Backed by the US-led coalition, the Kurdish SDF have driven ISIS out of large parts of the country.
ISIS has retained a presence in a few areas of the country, including in the eastern oil-rich province of Deir Ezzor near the border with Iraq.
The SDF's Deir Ezzor Military Council on Tuesday said it would press its efforts to oust ISIS from remaining areas.
"Our forces with the forces of the international coalition have started the last stage" of the anti-ISIS campaign, it said in a statement.
"Our forces will liberate these areas and secure the Iraqi border once and for all," the military council announced at the al-Tanak oilfield east of the Euphrates.
The United States confirmed the start of the military operation.
ISIS holds dozens of villages in eastern Syria, from the eastern banks of the Euphrates River that cuts across Deir Ezzor to the border with Iraq, and in the south of the adjacent province of Hasakeh.
The US State Department said later that the coalition and its "partners, including the Syrian Democratic Forces, are launching operations to liberate the final ISIS strongholds in Syria".
"The fighting will be difficult, but we and our partners will prevail... The days of ISIS controlling territory and terrorizing the people of Syria are coming to an end," it said in a statement.
Deir Ezzor Military Council head Ahmed Abu Khawla told AFP there was a "shared operations room with Iraqi forces".
The US-led coalition including French forces had increased their numbers and would support the SDF in "the final stage" of their operation, he said.
French special operations forces arrived in Syria last month to help boost US-led efforts against ISIS, US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said last week.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... ’s offensive to expel the People’s Protection Units (YPG) from Afrin - where the United States has no presence - led to a pause in the campaign against ISIS, the Pentagon has said.
Ottoman Turkish forces captured Afrin in March.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their Paleostinian allies continued their large-scale offensive inside the key town of Hajar al-Aswad today.
Backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes from the Russian Aerospace Forces, the Syrian Arab Army and their Paleostinian allies managed to liberate the al-Alaf area and al-Bassel Garden, which are both located in northwestern Hajar al-Aswad.
Following this advance, the Syrian Army and their Paleostinian allies continued to press further into Hajar al-Aswad, reaching new street blocks in this strategic town.
Tonight’s operation was led by the shock troops of the Syrian Arab Army’s 9th Division; they arrived a few weeks back after spending a short period of time in Dara’a.
