[All Africa] A video has surfaced online showing Nigerian migrants colonists making efforts to enter Canada illegally from the U.S. border.
The two countries share an international border.
The video was published in September 2017 by a Canadian media, CBC News.
The migrants colonists, inside a Greyhound bus, are seen in the video arriving a filling station which also serves as a bus stop at Plattsburgh, New York, just before dawn.
From there, they took taxis to the border between the U.S and Canada, where they would cross by foot illegally into Quebec, Canada.
The taxis stopped at a road end. And the migrants colonists, about 12 of them, got down were they were confronted by Canadian police officials.
"This is not a legal point of entry," an officer said to the migrants colonists standing a few metres away from the blocked border. "This is an illegal point."
"Yes, we know," the migrants colonists chorused.
The voice-over the video says "The RCMP (referring to the Canadian police officer) is obligated to tell them with one step across they will be tossed in the clink Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! "But still if they can slip into Canada they will be considered for asylum status. And that flicker of hope is enough for desperate people."
One man among the migrants colonists told the police officer that they believed Canada could help solve their problem and that was why they were desperate to enter the North American country illegally.
"We don't have any other choice," the man said.
And the others concurred: "We don't have any other place to go back to. Our mind is made up, that's why we want to come into Canada."
The voice-over the video continued: "This is a mock standoff, really. Almost no one who comes here turns away."
One of the migrants colonists, identified as Lilian, is interviewed in the video.
She said she learnt about the illegal crossing from a report on television and had to read it up on Google.
Ms. Lilian, with her child strapped on her back, said Canada "has a future for the children and for everybody.
"I want to take the risk because I know there's a future here for me and my baby."
Ms. Lilian said her son is a U.S citizen but that she didn't want to stay in the U.S "because Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... doesn't want me".

[Al Jazeera] Ahmed Shafik, a former Egyptian prime minister, has said he will not stand for president in the country's upcoming presidential elections.
The 76-year-old had previously announced his plan to run in an exclusive video message to Al Jazeera.
"I saw that I will not be the ideal person to lead the state during the coming period," a statement posted on Shafik's Twitter account read on Sunday.
"Thus I have decided not to run in the upcoming 2018 presidential elections."
Shafik was seen as one of the few people who could potentially challenge President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in the election, scheduled to take place in March.

[All Africa] Nigerian authorities have placed in durance vile Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! leaders of a group leading a separatist movement in neighbouring Cameroon ...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there... At least seven leaders of the Movement for the independence of Southern Cameroonians were arrested by the State Security Service on Friday in Abuja, several sources told PREMIUM TIMES.
The group leads a movement for an independent Ambazonia State, which seeks to break away from the domination of the French-speaking Cameroon.
Most leaders of the movement have since fled to neighbouring countries including Nigeria amidst a clampdown by the central government led by President Paul Biya.
The seven officials arrested include the leader of the group, Sisiku Tabe.
Others are Nfor Ngala Nfor, Fidelis Che, Henri Kimeng, Cornielius Kwanga, a professor identified as Awasum and a lawyer, Nalowa Bih.
They were arrested at Nera Hotel in Abuja.
"They were picked up yesterday by the SSS. They (SSS) came with guns and ammunitions to the hotel when they took them away. They arrived for a meeting of the high command of the leadership of the Ambazonia republic scheduled to hold at the hotel," our source said.

[BREITBART] The populist Danish People’s Party (DF) has suggested the government consider a mandatory curfew for under 18s in migrant ghetto areas in order to prevent disorder and delinquency.
The DF has proposed that all children below the age of 18 living in the ghetto areas should be required to be off the streets no later than 8 pm every night. DF MP Martin Henriksen argued that children should not be allowed outside on their own in areas that were prone to criminality, both for their own safety and to make sure they do not get caught up in criminality themselves, Jylland Posten reports.
"Young people, for example, 10, 11 or 12 years old, should not run around in the late evening hours if they live in an area where there is crime and insecurity," Henriksen said.
"It is important that they are at home with their family instead of being out with criminal elements that can affect them in a negative direction," he added.
The suggestion comes after Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen announced last week that he would be looking at real measures to tackle the problems surrounding the migrant populated ghetto areas, like knocking down older apartment complexes and moving people to different areas.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Pakistain seems to be reluctant to act against the leadership councils of the Taliban ...Arabic for students... and Haqqani network which the Afghan and US officials believe are based in the key cities of Pakistain.
The foreign minister of Pakistain Khwajah Asif has told the Wall Street Journal that Islamabad would not allow the Afghan war to be fought on Pakistain’s soil.
"We have relative calm in Pakistain at the moment," Asif said. "But if we go against these people [Afghan krazed killers], then the war will again be fought on our soil, which will suit the Americans," he added.
This comes as pressures on the rise on Islamabad to act against the Afghan Taliban, Haqqani network, and other Lions of Islam having safe havens in Pakistain.

[GEO.TV] United States President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... cannot afford to walk away from Pakistain, which has often provided vital intelligence and has the world’s fastest-growing nuclear arsenal, a New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... article has warned, saying such a move on his part could be detrimental for America and pave way for even better Sino-Pak relations.
The article claims that Trump's aggressive and very globally audible admonition seems to indicate that he does not have a proper strategy in his plans.
"President Trump’s bombast and the precipitous way the decision seems to have been made have led to doubts that Mr. Trump has a serious plan for managing the ramifications of this move," the publication states.
"The president is good at venting grievances, as he demonstrated in his New Year’s Day tweet on the situation: "The United States has foolishly given Pakistain more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years," he wrote, "and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the hard boyz we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!" says the article.

Where is this pic of Trump with "You didn't get me in primaries..."?

Breaking off ties with Pakistan? WTF? No, we're just stopping funding their bullshit. We'll still have relations, but we won't be handing out any more of that sweet, sweet cash. Maybe if Pakistan stops supporting terrorists it might come back.

[GEO.TV] The United States is examining ways to mitigate any Pak retaliation as it piles pressure on Islamabad to crack down on holy warriors, a senior US official said on Friday, cautioning that US action could extend beyond a new freeze in aid.
Pakistain is a crucial gateway for US military supplies destined for US and other troops fighting a 16-year-old war in neighboring, landlocked Afghanistan.
So far, the Pentagon says Pakistain has not given any indication that it would close its airspace or roads to military supplies and US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis played down concerns on Friday.
But Washington has only just begun to work through its new plan to suspend up to roughly $2 billion in US security assistance, announced on Thursday. It came days after U.S. President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... tweeted that Pakistain had rewarded past US aid with "nothing but lies and deceit."
The senior Trump administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Washington hoped that the aid suspension would be enough to communicate its concern to Islamabad.
But the official cautioned that the freeze was also not the only tool that America had to pressure the country -- suggesting it might resort to other measures, if needed.
"We are considering many different things, not just the (financial) assistance issue," the official said.
"We are also looking at Pakistain’s potential response ... and we are looking at ways to deal with that and to mitigate the risks to the relationship."
The official declined to detail what steps were under consideration, including whether that might include possible unilateral U.S. military action against murderous Moslems in Pakistain.

well we know that ISI is even more out of control than the CIA and until those elements of the Pak government are brought under control, Pakastain will be a festering sore of radical Islam.
[Iraq News] The Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell denied on Sunday media reports about a parade held by Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... in djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... city.
In a statement quoted by Dijlah TV, the War Media Cell said, "All news circulated on social networking websites and media outlets about an Islamic State parade at al-Jazira area west of Mosul city is fabricated and misleading."
It also refuted claims about the emergence of Islamic State Lions of Islam again at some western villages in Mosul and the kidnapping and murdering of some residents there.
"Iraqi troops have totally cleared the country from terrorist groups and are now in full control of all Iraqi territories and borders," the statement read, adding that the country is now completely secure.
The War Media Cell also urged, in the statement, all media outlets to seek accuracy before publishing any news.
In July, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced liberation of the second largest Iraqi city of Mosul from IS bully boys, who had captured it in 2014.
More than 25000 Lions of Islam were killed throughout the campaign, which started in October 2016.

[Ynet] Israeli anti-BDS student volunteers see success after BDS Facebook group uploads plea for donations 'in light of pro-Israel students trolling, harassing, disrupting their events and activities.'
The official group for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to vilify and isolate Israel internationally, uploaded a Facebook post this week urging their supporters to donate money because, "Israeli students are disturbing our activities by using an app and through social networking sites."
The disturbance BDS leaders complained about was Act.il, launched three years ago as an initiative by students of the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) as a response to the rise in anti-Israel sentiments on social networking sites, especially after the IDF's military campaigns of Operation Pillar of Defense in 2012 and Operation Protective Edge in 2014.
More than 1,000 students, most of them at IDC, volunteer and use the platform to respond to what they see as anti-Israel slander on the web. IDC students hail from dozens of countries, enabling them to respond to online defamation in some 35 languages.
About six months ago, Act.il released a mobile app that was downloaded by thousands of people around the world and significantly widened its circle of activists.
The post on the BDS page continued, "They disrupted an internet event attended by senior BDS figures and they are paid trolls, racists, inciters and Islamophobes and they are spreading anti-Paleostinian propaganda."
The post was received with glee among pro-Israel activists. "This post is a certificate of honor for our volunteers," said Yarden Ben Yosef, the administrator of Act.il. "If we have reached a point in which they are anxious about us and are using us to ask for donations, apparently we are doing a good job."
Israel bars BDS activists from entering country
More on BDS, Israel recently published a list of 20 organizations from around the globe whose members are banned from entering the country for advocating boycotts of Israel over the Paleostinian issue.
Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan said Sunday that the groups blacklisted are the main ones who "operate consistently and continuously" against Israel using a "campaign of incitement and lies."
It is not clear how the ban will be enforced, but it could affect thousands of people.
Among the groups is the US-based Jewish Voice for Peace, which counts more than 13,000 members. Groups from La Belle France, Chile and South Africa are also among those banned.
In addition to quoting the spokespersons of several banned organizations waxing indignant, the Times of Israel adds:
In March 2017, the Knesset amended the Law of Entry to prevent leaders of the BDS movement from being allowed into Israel. The amendment applies to organizations that take consistent and significant action against Israel through BDS, as well as the leadership and senior activists of those groups.
[IsraelTimes] The Strategic Affairs Ministry releases a full list of the organizations whose members are barred from entering Israel over their efforts to boycott the Jewish state.

[ARABNEWS] The US risks triggering a security crisis in the Arab world if it follows through with threats to suspend funding to Paleostinian refugees, according to a Paleostine Liberation Organizaton (PLO) official.
It comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday called for the closure of the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees, just days after US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... threatened to cut financial assistance.
"Thousands" of children and teenagers would be left without access to education should the US withhold funding to the UN Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) for Paleostinian Refugees, cautioned Kanaan al-Jamal, who oversees the UNRWA portfolio for the PLO in Ramallah.
"There are lots of terrorist groups targeting those teenagers," al-Jamal told Arab News. "This will affect national security for everyone, not just the Paleostinians."
Israel has been a long-standing critic of UNRWA.
"UNRWA is an organization that perpetuates the Paleostinian refugee problem," Netanyahu said at his Cabinet meeting on Sunday.
He said that millions of other refugees were covered by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and questioned why Paleostinians should have their own body.
"This absurd situation must be ended," Netanyahu said.
Trump has threatened to cut "massive future payments" to the Paleostinians who he blames for stalling peace talks with Israel.
US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley ...Trump administration's ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems... doubled down on the threat earlier this week: "The President has basically said he doesn’t want to give any additional funding, or stop funding, until the Paleostinians agree to come back to the negotiation table," she told news hounds in response to a question about funding for UNRWA.

Nah, we know from the Paris accord that other countries will step up and fill the gap. It's about time America cut them off. Lead a vote in the UN to give America the finger, and you can't be surprised when this happens.

[GEO.TV] Iran has banned the teaching of English in primary schools, a senior education official said, after the country’s Supreme Leader said early learning of the language opened the way to a Western "cultural invasion".
"Teaching English in government and non-government primary schools in the official curriculum is against laws and regulations," Mehdi Navid-Adham, head of the state-run High Education Council, told state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
late on Saturday.
"This is because the assumption is that, in primary education, the groundwork for the Iranian culture of the students is laid," Navid-Adham said, adding that non-curriculum English classes may also be blocked.
The teaching of English usually starts in middle school in Iran, around the ages of 12 to 14, but some primary schools, below that age, also have English classes.
Some children also attend private language institutes after their school day.
And many children from more privileged families attending non-government schools receive English tuition from daycare through high school.
Iran’s Islamic leaders have often warned about the dangers of a "cultural invasion", and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei voiced outrage in 2016 over the "teaching of the English language spreading to nursery schools".

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Paleostinian militia known as al-Quds Brigade is reportedly heading to the frontlines in South Idlib in order to support the rapidly advancing Syrian offensive against terrorist forces in the area.
The al-Quds Brigade, also known as Liwa al-Quds, is a predominantly Sunni Paleostinian armed militia force that is composed mostly of Paleostinians living in the al-Nayrab district of Aleppo and the Handarat camp. The Brigade played a dominant role during the Battle of Aleppo, where is was the single largest auxiliary force assisting the Syrian Arab Army in liberating the city.
By relocating to southern Idlib, the Paleostinian auxiliary force seeks to support the Syrian advances against Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly known as the al-Nusra ...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ... Front) and other rebel gangs. The armed forces of Syria have been making massive advances in Idlib in the past days, cutting a bloody path through the rebel positions.
It is expected that the al-Quds Brigade will be employed mostly in the safeguarding and defending of recently liberated towns, and the prevention of possible HTS counterattacks in the rear of the ongoing Syrian offensive.

[REUTERS] Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said on Sunday the country’s people and security forces had put an end to unrest fomented by foreign enemies, as parliament and security officials met to discuss the boldest challenge to the holy manal establishment since 2009.
There has been more than a week of unrest in Iran in which 22 people have died and more than 1,000 placed in durance vile Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un! , according to Iranian officials. The protests spread to more than 80 cities and rural towns as thousands of young and working-class Iranians expressed their anger at graft, unemployment and a deepening gap between rich and poor.
Residents contacted by Rooters in various cities have said the protests had subsided after the government intensified a crackdown by dispatching Revolutionary Guards forces to several provinces.
"Iran’s revolutionary people along with tens of thousands of Basij forces, police and the Intelligence Ministry have broken down the chain (of unrest)," the Guards said in a statement on their Sepahnews website. The Guards said the unrest had been "created ... by the United States, Britannia, the Zionist regime (Israel), Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... , the hypocrites (Mujahideen) and monarchists."
Parliament met on Sunday to discuss the week of unrest with the ministers of interior and intelligence, Iran’s police chief and the deputy commander of the elite Revolutionary Guards, state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
said.
Late on Saturday, videos on social media showed a heavy police presence in cities, including Khorramabad in southwestern Iran where on Wednesday evening social media posts showed protesters throwing stones at riot police.
As protests have ebbed, the government has lifted restrictions it imposed on Instagram, one of the social media tools used to mobilize protesters. But access to a more widely used messaging app, Telegram, was still blocked, suggesting authorities remained uneasy about the possibility of further protests.
