[Wash Times] The government flagged more than 1.6 million foreign visitors for overstaying their visas from 2013 to 2015, but deportation agents said they fell too low on President Obama’s list of priorities to bother targeting for removal, according to a watchdog report released Monday.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the deportation agency, concluded that it would cost too much to pursue the overstays, the Government Accountability Office said. ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations branch instead chose to focus on illegal immigrants who jumped the border and who amassed serious criminal records -- the priorities Mr. Obama laid out.
Overstays pose an increasingly prominent problem in illegal immigration, with estimates saying that as the border has become more secure, migrants are attempting to enter by getting legal passes and refusing to leave when their time is up.
Some estimates say more than 40 percent of illegal immigrants each year arrived legally but overstayed.
While new border crossers were a priority for the Obama administration, overstays were not.

Charge those who overstay a fee of at least several thousands to pay for the cost of tracking them down and deporting them. Make them pay before they're released from jail. Jail charge included in said fee, so the longer they stay, the more it cost them.
#2
Create an exit fee for each international entry point, payable to the local jurisdiction, linked to their declared departure date. When they fail to pay at time of departure, it creates after processing through local courts a failure to appear warrant that can be linked to NCIC. Warrants can be made enforceable nationwide and are legal for apprehensions by every law enforcement officer in the country. Poof, 700,000 cops added to immigration enforcement. Ends the canard of immigration enforcement being a federal responsibility only.

Maybe the money that could have been spent apprehending and deporting people who overstayed their visas was spent on the Border Patrol's welcoming committees.

I like the last two.
Treat it like civil asset forfeiture so that the locals have the incentive to reel them in.
[INDEPENDENT.CO.UK] Following in the footsteps of Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey is attempting to use witchcraft to remove Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and whatever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... from Presidency. You gotta utter the Words of Power just right, y'see?
"At the stroke of midnight," the famed singer Tweeted. "Feb 24, March 26, April 24, May 23... Ingredients can be found online." That's when they're gonna let fly with the phlogiston...
Observers noted these dates line-up with the 'waning crescent moon ritual dates,' dates that recently made headlines as members of the occult claimed they would perform ceremonies to rid the world of Donald Trump each time the event occurs. Pelted with Philosophers' Stones, Trump will be turned to a solid golden statue of himself. Then he can be melted down and the money used for social programs or to fund Green Power projects..

...Miss Del Rey (born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, AKA 'May Jailer', AKA 'Lizzy Grant', AKA 'Lana Rey Del Mar', AKA 'Sparkle Jump Rope Queen') is a classic example of what happens when you're not right in the first place, and then people start giving you millions of dollars.
You have ONE job: stand there and sing while looking good. Your political opinions matter not insofar as the stay with you.

[BLOOMBERG] Anti-immigrant populists and the opposition Labor party advanced in opinion polls as Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s government descended into infighting.
One-in-10 people surveyed by Newspoll backed Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party, more than double its support base late last year, amid her attacks on Moslem immigration, free trade and foreign investment in Australia.
Labor climbed 1 percentage point to 37 percent, while the incumbent Liberal-National coalition fell 1 point to 34 percent, according to the survey published by the Australian newspaper Monday. The poll showed that, on a two-party preferred basis, Labor would trounce the government 55 percent to 45 percent in an election.
Turnbull is being undermined by his hard-line conservative predecessor Tony Abbott, seven months after scraping an election victory with a razor-thin majority. Abbott last week conducted a media blitz calling on Turnbull to slash immigration, scrap a renewable energy target to lower electricity prices, abolish the Human Rights Commission, reform the upper house of parliament and cut government spending to undercut One Nation’s supporter base.
Turnbull said the "outburst" was "sad" and wouldn’t distract him from governing; Finance Minister Mathias Cormann, once a loyal Abbott supporter, described the comments as "deliberately destructive" to his colleagues.

One Nation's problem is that Hanson is an intellectual lightweight and over the years has attracted some wacky fringe types.
We have a state election in a couple of weeks in Western Australia and Hanson's party will pick up some upper house seats (under our PR system).
[PJ] WASHINGTON ‐ Political activist Dr. Cornel West said he does not have a "tremendous amount of faith" in the "progressive vision" of the Congressional Black Caucus, telling PJM that he believes the group of lawmakers is on the wrong side of several issues.
West called for a "multi-racial coalition" that can work to "transform" America’s "capitalist civilization into a more democratic socialist one." He also said there should be a "more serious conversation" in the U.S. about reparations for descendants of African-American slaves.
In response to a question at a recent press conference, President Trump said he was open to meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus and the two parties are reportedly going to meet soon. When asked if he would like to see Trump and the CBC meet, West described the group as "neo-liberal."
"They’re too friendly to Wall Street. Too many of the campaigns come out of the Wall Street entities and therefore they are not free enough to really speak to the issue of poverty.
They haven’t made poverty a major priority, and that’s the legacy of Martin King and the others," he told PJM following a news conference with Hashim Nzinga, chairman of the New Black Panther Party, and Malik Zulu Shabazz, national president of Black Lawyers for Justice, at the National Press Club on Wednesday.

How many deaths were caused by the Civil War?
Union Enlistment 2,893,304 Confederate Enlistment 1,317,035 Battle Deaths 110,070 Battle Deaths 94,000 Disease Deaths 224,586 Disease Deaths 164,000 Other Causes 24,872 Other Causes No record given Total Deaths 359,528 Total Deaths 258,000 Percentage Deaths 12.4% Percentage Deaths 19.6%
If one makes an assumption that the Union soldiers were fighting on the side of emancipation; Although that may not be an accurate assumption since people go to war for many reasons, but let's assume it is true for now. It seems the debt was more than settled long ago. Leave it alone and put it to rest. Is that a serious enough conversation?

359,528 Deaths. That was in a population less than 1/10 of today. To put that another way in today's perspective, that would be 3,590,280 deaths. Can you imagine anything America would intentionally sacrifice that many for today?
