Not that this matters -- he has already been sentenced for a long time for a number of other misbehaviours, and each case has to go all the way up to the supreme court, sentence be approved by the chief religious authority then, if I understand correctly, repeat part of the process. For each case. Former President Morsi will be shuttling between prison and the courthouse for the rest of his earthly existence unless he is released as an act of Ramadan mercy or the Moslem Brotherhood somehow takes power and releases him along with the rest of their people. Ditto for the rest of the Moslem Brotherhooders on trial with or without him.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Egyptian court Saturday sentenced former Islamist President Mohammed Mursi to life in prison in an espionage trial in which six co-defendants were handed death penalties.
The court acquitted Mursi of charges of having supplied Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates... with classified documents but sentenced him to life for leading an unlawful organization, his lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maksoud told AFP.
The ousted president was also convicted of having "stolen secret documents concerning state security" and handed another 15-year jail term, the lawyer added.
Mursi was ousted by the military in July 2013 and has already been sentenced to death in another case.
The court also confirmed death sentences against six defendants, including three journalists tried in absentia who allegedly helped relay secret documents to Qatar.
The journalists have been identified as Ibrahim Mohammed Hilal and Jordanian citizen Alaa Omar Mohammed Sablan, both of Qatar-based Al-Jazeera ... an Arab news network headquartered in Qatar, notorious for carrying al-Qaeda press releases. The name means the Peninsula, as in the Arabian Peninsula. In recent years it has settled in to become slightly less biased than MSNBC, in about the same category as BBC or CBS... channel.
The third has been named as Asmaa Mohammed al-Khatib, a female news hound with pro-Moslem Brüderbund news outlet Rassd.

[DAWN] DHAKA: A teenage suspected holy warrior being held in jug in Bangladesh was rubbed out Saturday in a shootout, police said, days after he allegedly hacked and critically maimed a Hindu lecturer.
Police said Golam Faizullah Fahim, a 19-year-old Moslem, who was in jug for questioning, was killed when officers came under attack in a farmland area after taking him to a river in search of his associates.
"Miscreants fired at the police van as we came near a jute farm. A shootout ensued. After the shootout we saw Fahim was shot and maimed. He died after we brought him to a hospital," Sarwar Hossain, police chief of Madaripur, where the shooting took place, told AFP.
Locals in Madaripur caught Fahim on Wednesday after he and two other suspected Death Eaters attacked and maimed 50-year-old mathematics lecturer Ripon Chakrabarti, a Hindu, police said.
The attack was the latest in a wave of brutal assaults on secular activists, writers and religious minorities by suspected Islamist holy warriors.
Police later told news hounds Fahim was a college student and was a member of banned Islamist group Hizbut Tahrir ...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate... Hizbut Tahrir (Party of Liberation) is an international holy warrior group outlawed in several countries, including Bangladesh.
Six suspected Islamist Death Eaters have now been rubbed out since Bangladesh launched a nationwide crackdown on local jihadist groups in the wake of a spike in murders of secular activists and religious minorities.
The drive has seen more than 11,000 people including 194 Death Eaters nabbed Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un! over the past week despite widespread criticism by local and international human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... groups.
Rights activists also questioned the incidents of deaths in police custody, saying the Death Eaters were rubbed out in "cold blood" in encounters staged by officers.
Nearly 50 people have been killed over the last three years in a wave of gruesome murders targeting Hindus, Christians, Sufi Moslems, secular activists and foreigners, with most blamed on or claimed by Islamist holy warriors.
Many of the victims were hacked to death with machetes.
This month alone, an elderly Hindu priest was found nearly decapitated in a rice field and a Hindu monastery worker was hacked to death, while a Christian grocer was found murdered near a church.

But authorities instead blame homegrown holy warrior groups and say international groups such as IS and Al-Qaeda have no presence in Bangladesh.
Although it is officially secular, around 90 pc of Bangladesh's 160 million-strong population is Moslem. Some eight percent of the population is Hindu.

[Bloomberg] Belgian authorities charged three people in connection with a suspected terror plot amid a broadcast report of a plan to attack fans gathering to watch the national soccer team.
The trio of Belgian citizens were accused of "having attempted to commit a terrorist murder and for participation in the activities of a terrorist group," Belgium’s federal prosecutor said in an e-mail Saturday.
The country’s terror alert will remain at level 3 out of 4, Belgium’s government said earlier Saturday, after security forces raided properties across the country and locked away Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! 12 people. The prosecutor didn’t confirm a report by broadcaster VTM that the holy warriors were planning to attack fans -- possibly on Saturday -- while Belgium’s soccer team played in the Euro 2016 tournament.
Counterterrorism forces across Europe have increased security during the soccer championships, particularly in La Belle France where the tournament is taking place until July 10.
Prosecutors identified those charged as Samir C., born on Jan. 13, 1989; Moustapha B., born on March 14, 1976; and Jawad B., born on March 3, 1987. The other nine people who were arrested during the overnight raids were released without charge, prosecutors said.
Prime Minister Charles Michel called for calm and said public events will go ahead with heightened security.
"The security services have obviously been extremely vigilant," Michel told news hounds in Brussels after an emergency meeting with Cabinet members and counterterror chiefs. "We will continue our fight against extremism, against radicalism, against terrorism."
In total, police questioned 40 people during raids on Friday night and Saturday morning. No arms or explosives were found, the prosecutor said.
Belgium has been on a high state of alert since holy warriors allied to the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group killed 32 people in suicide kabooms at Brussels airport and on the city’s subway. The federal government has deployed soldiers on streets around prominent buildings and introduced increased security checks for travelers and commuters.
Security Protection
Since Friday evening, several members of Belgium’s federal government, including Prime Minister Michel, have been subject to heightened security protection, broadcaster RTBF said, without saying where it got the information. The overnight anti-terror raids were not linked to the threat to politicians, RTBF said.
A Belgian citizen, identified only as Youssef E.A., born on Aug. 4, 1985, was arrested and detained in connection with the March attacks, the federal prosecutor said in a statement sent by e-mail late Friday.
Separately, a French terror probe is under way after Larossi Abballa, who swore allegiance to Islamic State, stabbed a policeman and his partner to death on Monday and may have planned similar attacks on rap stars, public figures and the media, according to Sherlocks. Abballa, the attacker, was killed by police inside the couple’s house near Gay Paree.
The Gay Paree prosecutor on Saturday said it’s investigating and requesting detention of two other individuals, Charaf-Din Aberouz and Saad Rajraji, following the slaying. Aberouz, Rajraji and Abballa had been convicted in 2013 in a previous terror case.
According to state broadcaster RTBF and daily Phlegmish newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Prime Minister Charles Michel, Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, Interior Minister Jan Jambon and Justice Minister Koen Geens, are among a group of 30 people who, along with their families, have had their personal security stepped up since Friday.
RTBF added that there is no link to the most recent raids.

[RUDAW.NET] Military operations against remaining Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) murderous Moslems in the liberated town of Fallujah are ongoing and late on Saturday three secret ISIS jails were broken up and a main hospital was recaptured in the embattled town.
According to a statement issued by Iraqi Terror Combat Forces, three secret prisons were found by the forces and a main hospital in downtown Fallujah was seized. The hospital was, however, destroyed after ISIS set it on fire upon their retreat from the area.
During the operation to take the hospital, Iraqi soldiers entered the building slowly, fearing that the murderous Moslems would use patients as human shields, Brig. Gen. Haider al-Obeidi told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named, adding that they did not find any patients inside.
Retaking Fallujah is the final step to wiping out ISIS' foothold in Anbar province.
Over the past year, Iraqi forces backed by US-led Arclight airstrikes have, city by city, regained large parts of the country. But the biggest prize, Iraq's second largest city, djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... , and surrounding territory in the north, remains under Islamic State control.
Friday evening, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi spoke on national TV from the joint command center, congratulating the troops on their victories.
"We promised to liberate Fallujah, ... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids... and it has returned to the embrace of the nation," he said.
ISIS took over the city in early 2014. It was the first area to fall into its hands before the murderous Moslems overran most of Anbar and much of northern Iraq.

Reports are that the IS has fallen back to western Fallujah, along the river. Likely there'll be a holding action while most of its force tries to cross and head west.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi forces opened a second front on Saturday in preparation for an assault on the ISIS stronghold of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... , a day after government troops declared victory over the Lions of Islam in Falluja.
Elite counter-terrorism forces and two army divisions, backed by US-led coalition air strikes, advanced from a northern refinery town towards an airfield seen as key for a move to retake Mosul, security officials said.
Mosul is Iraq’s largest northern city and ISIS’ de facto capital in the country.
Government troops cleared two villages and pressed around 20 kilometers (12 miles) along a desert route west of Baiji, the first advance past the town since its recapture in October, the security officials said.
Defense Minister Khaled al-Obaidi said the assault marked the launch of operations to push ISIS out of Qayara, about 115 km (70 miles) north of Baiji, where an airfield could serve as the staging ground for a future offensive on Mosul, a further 60 km north.
Army troops on a separate front pushing west from Makhmour for the past three months have made only halting progress on the opposite side of the Tigris river.
"The launch of operations to liberate Qayara will not give the Lions of Islam a chance to catch their breath," Obaidi said on Twitter alongside a picture of Humvee military trucks snaking down a desert road.
Iraqi forces entered the center of Falluja, an hour’s drive west of Baghdad, on Friday morning after a four-week operation that sent its tens of thousands of residents fleeing to overwhelmed displacement camps nearby.
Prime Minster Haider al-Abadi had declared victory over the Lions of Islam by evening, but police sources said on Saturday that government troops had not yet entered seven northern districts held by ISIS and were still clearing southern areas.
Iraqi troops engaged the gunnies on Baghdad Street, the main east-west route through Falluja, firing rockets at their positions and taking sniper fire and mortar rounds.
Counter-terrorism forces took control of Falluja hospital, a nest for the Lions of Islam who set fire to large parts of it before fleeing, and were clearing the eastern al-Dhubat neighborhood, a military statement said.
Live footage broadcast on state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
from outside the hospital showed smoke rising from the hospital and elite commandos celebrating with an Iraqi flag.
Falluja, an historic bastion of the Sunni insurgency against US forces that toppled dictator Saddam Hussein, a Sunni, in 2003, and the Shi'ite-led governments that followed, was seen as a launch pad for recent ISIS bombings in Baghdad.
The International Organization for Migration said on Saturday more than 81,000 people had been displaced by the fighting in Falluja, which had a population about three times that size before the ISIS seizure in early 2014.
"Needs: tents, water, supplies," the agency tweeted.
Western desert route
Militants tried to slow the troops’ advance north of Baiji with mortar attacks that killed two coppers and maimed three soldiers, said army Col. Mohammed Abdulla from Salahuddin operations command.
Two suicide boom-mobiles were taken out by air strikes before reaching their targets, though dusty weather was making it difficult to target Lions of Islam and slowing the advance, military sources said.
A front man for the US-led coalition said Apache attack helicopters had conducted operations in support of Iraqi forces in the Tigris river valley, where the advance is situated.
The government forces were advancing along a desert path west of the main highway linking Baghdad to Mosul which is lined with mines and runs through villages that have a heavy ISIS presence, said Col. Mohammed al-Assadi, an Iraqi army front man.
Senior officers in the counter-terrorism service have told Rooters the forces would not enter ISIS strongholds in the area, such as Shirqat and Hawija, to avoid getting tied down in secondary battles.
The desert route also leads the troops further away from the Makhoul mountains east of Baiji, from which ISIS has been launching mortars in and around the town for months.
Prime Minister Abadi has said Iraqi forces will retake Mosul this year but, in private, many question whether the army, which partially collapsed when ISIS overran a third of the country in June 2014, will be ready in time.
Retaking Qayara and a nearby refinery with a production capacity of 16,000 barrels per day could also pinch ISIS' finances.

[RUDAW.NET] More festivities between Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) broke out on Thursday in a second day of violence in the Shno area of Iran.
A KDPI blurb issued on Friday, states, "A group of political cadres who were accompanied by a Peshmerga platoon went to the villages of Sergiz and Qereseqe [in Shno]. Our cadres and Peshmergas came under fire by forces of the Iranian regime. The ensuing battle in this village lasted for 10 hours and continued in several other places of the region until around 23:00 on June 16."
The KDPI accused the Iranian forces of shelling "the villages of Sergiz and Qereseqe in the most brutal way, causing civilian deaths and destruction of property."
The group did not release numbers of civilian casualties but claimed to have killed more than 20 Iranian soldiers, stating on Twitter on Friday, "We have the identity of more than 20 killed [Iranian Revolutionary Guards] soldiers & commanders."
Also on Friday, IRGC forces ambushed Peshmerga in the region of Sarokani in Piranshar. "The Peshmergas managed to break the Iranian ambush without any casualties. The battle lasted for one hour," the KDPI confirmed in a blurb on their website.
Thursday’s festivities come after similar violence on Wednesday in Shno where at least six Iranian forces were killed.
The IRGC also issued confirmation of the skirmishes in a statement published on their website. "In a clash that happened between the Iranian forces and Death Eaters in the northwest of Iran, 12 of the bad boyz were potted and we have captured weapons, ammunitions and classified documents."
The Iranians announced that three of their forces were killed and they warned they will not let anyone destabilize the security of their borders.
The KDPI’s Operational Command confirmed that an undisclosed number of its Peshmerga were killed and said it would "release the names of our martyred Peshmerga in due course."
The KDPI and its other branches ceased armed activities against Iran some years ago to seek a political solution. But leaders say they have recently moved some of their fighters into towns and the border areas.
In May of 2015 KDPI deployed its Peshmerga forces to the border between southern (Iraqi) Kurdistan and eastern (Iranian) Kurdistan.
The KDPI was founded by the president of the first Kurdish republic in Mahabad, Qazi Muhammed, in 1945. The current leader of the party is Mustafa Hijri and its headquarters are based in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Following the establishment of the Islamic republic in 1979, the KDPI and other secular political organizations opposed the republic and a war between the Kurdish movement and the Iranian regime lasted until the mid-1990s.
On the occasion of Newroz, Mustafa Hijri announced that the KDPI would send Peshmerga and political cadres to eastern Kurdistan (Iran) in order to facilitate closer interactions with the Kurdish people.

[RUDAW.NET] Forces of the Manbij Military Council say they have broken the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... 's first lines of defense in order to reach trapped civilians who need urgent help such as water and food supplies.
"Concerning the trapped, we are trying to deal with the matter. Before we target any place we try to make sure there are no civilians in there, and this is one of the foundations of our operations. I can say that this campaign has been successful at every level. So far no damage was done to any civilians, no mistakes on the fronts between us and the civilians. We are being very careful and we are dealing with the matter very seriously," Sharfan Darwish, official front man of the Manbij Military Council said.
According to Nasser haj Mansour, adviser in the Syrian Democratic forces: "Manbij Military Council forces are working to rescue civilians from the jaws of ISIS and also working to open safe corridors from within the city. The stay of civilians inside the city is not because of the military council siege of the city but because ISIS is trying to use them as human shields."
General Commander of the military council, Adnan Abu Amjad, reported that his forces have managed to free more than 1,000 square kilometers of the Manbij countryside, and have killed and maimed nearly a thousand members of ISIS.
He claimed that the bodies of about 500 dead ISIS turbans lay in the hands of the military council.
"Our forces are now advancing towards the city and the siege is almost complete on the city. Our troops are rapidly advancing into the place where there are no civilians." Adnan Abu Amjad said.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Russia launched a second air strike on US-backed Syrian fighters battling ISIS, even after the US military used emergency channels to ask Moscow to stop after the first strike, a US official told Rooters on Friday.
The official, who spoke to on condition of anonymity, said a small number of Syrian fighters were killed in Thursday’s air strikes in southern Syria.
The Pentagon has criticized the strike near al-Tanf, saying it raised concerns about Russian intentions in Syria and promising to bring up the matter with Russia. No Russia or Russian-backed Syrian ground forces were in the area at the time.
"This was an attack on forces first of all that were fighting ISIS. And obviously that’s the first thing that’s problematic about this Russian conduct," US Defense Secretary Ash Carter told news hounds, using an acronym for the radical group ISIS.
"The Russians initially said they were coming in to fight ISIS, and that’s not what they did."
Asked about the incident, the Kremlin said on Friday it was hard to distinguish between moderate and bully boy rebels on the ground when it came to targeting air strikes in Syria because they were frequently fighting close to one another.
Carter did not get into details about the sequence of events but told a news conference that "the channel that we have to communicate with them in instances like this wasn’t professionally used."
