[UK.REUTERS] Egyptian troops fired warning shots over the frontier into Gazoo on Tuesday after a bomb went kaboom! on Gazoo territory near an Egyptian army convoy, Egyptian security sources said, blaming Islamist group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, which denied the charge.
In Alexandria, Egypt's second city, a man was killed in a kaboom hours after two devices were discovered at Cairo airport and another went off in the centre of the capital without casualties, other security sources said.
Hamas, which governs Gazoo, said Paleostinian positions had come under fire from Egyptian soil with no justification.
"Fire was directed in a surprising, unjustified way and without any violation from the Paleostinian side," said Eyad al-Bozom, a front man for Gazoo's Hamas-run interior ministry.
Security concerns have deepened in Egypt since last Thursday, when Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. 's Egyptian affiliate grabbed credit for coordinated attacks that killed over 30 security personnel in the Sinai Peninsula.
Egypt is facing an Islamist insurgency based in Sinai, which borders the Paleostinian Gazoo Strip as well as Israel and Egypt's Suez Canal.
The Egyptian government has accused Hamas of funnelling weapons and fighters to the Sinai-based bully boys.
Paleostinian authorities have made contact with Egypt to protest about Tuesday's shooting and have demanded an investigation, Bozom of the Gazoo interior ministry said.
An Egyptian court last week banned Hamas' armed wing and listed it as a terrorist organization, prompting Hamas to reject Egypt as a mediator between Israel and the Paleostinians, a role it has played for decades.

[YEMENONLINE.INFO] A drone strike killed at least four Al-Qaeda suspects in Yemen Monday, tribal sources said, the third attack in a week after Washington vowed to pursue its anti-jihadi campaign there.
The unmanned aircraft, which only the United States operates in the region, targeted a car carrying "at least four" suspects in Baida province, the sources said.
They said the bodies inside the car were left charred.
"Loud kabooms were heard after the attack," one source told AFP, saying this could mean the car had been "loaded with arms and explosives."
This was the third such strike since U.S. President Barack Obama Republicans can come along for the ride, but they've got to sit in the back... on January 25 vowed no let-up in Washington's campaign against jihadis in Yemen.
Four suspected Death Eaters were killed in a similar strike Saturday, while another raid left three alleged Al-Qaeda Death Eaters dead on January 26.
Both of those attacks were in the southern province of Shabwa.
Obama had dismissed suggestions that deepening chaos in Yemen since last month's resignation of Western-backed President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi had forced a change in Washington's campaign against Al-Qaeda.

[USATODAY] An attacker with a knife hidden in his bag attacked three soldiers on an anti-terror patrol in front of a Jewish community center in southern La Belle France on Tuesday, two police officials said.
Sarah Baron, a police union official in the city of Nice, said the attacker was detained after the attack near the Galeries Lafayette department store. Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi said the attacker had an identity card with the name Moussa Coulibaly.
The surname, which is relatively common for families of Malian descent, is the same as that of the man who seized hostages in a kosher supermarket in Gay Paree and bumped off a policewoman last month.
Another police official said the attacker pulled a knife at least 8 inches long out of a bag and set upon one of the soldiers, injuring him in the chin. He then swiped two other soldiers -- one in the cheek, the other in the forearm -- before being apprehended by riot cop shoppeed near the building, which houses the city's Jewish community center.
A manager at the center, who did not want to be identified because she was afraid, confirmed soldiers posted in front of the building were attacked. She said it happened around lunchtime and no one was inside the office.
The attacker, aged about 30, had a record of theft and violence, the official said on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing. His motive was not yet clear, the official added.
Mayor Estrosi told BFM television that a possible accomplice were tossed into the calaboose.

Sucky ROE. Should have ended with 'suicide by cop'.
A security source involved in the investigation told AFP the main suspect was expelled from Turkey last week and had been interrogated by French intelligence services upon his return, but they had not gathered enough information to take him to court at that point.
[AnNahar] Swedish prosecutors indicted Monday a former Syrian rebel accused of severely beating a pro-regime fighter in 2012 after a video of the attack was posted on Facebook.
The 28-year-old is accused of violating international law -- including the Geneva Conventions which govern the treatment of prisoners of war -- and of aggravated assault, in what is believed to be the first case in Sweden linked to the conflict in Syria.
A video of the beating posted on the defendant's Facebook account has been cited as evidence against the former Free Syrian Army ... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund... fighter who has lived in Sweden since 2013.
"To my knowledge, there has never been a trial like this," prosecutor Henrik Soederman told AFP.
According to the indictment, the defendant participated in beating "an unidentified person tied to the Syrian state's armed forces" in the summer of 2012 in a manner that "resembles torture."
The victim -- whose hands and feet were tied -- had been injured before the assault, which included several blows with a whip and a truncheon or with similar weapons.
The former Syrian rebel said he had been forced to perform the acts.
He has been detained since October and a trial date has not yet been disclosed.
Prosecutors said they would seek his deportation and a ban on re-entry to Sweden.
The man arrived in Sweden in September 2013, the same month that Stockholm announced it would grant automatic residency to all Syrians fleeing the conflict, except those found guilty of war crimes.

If a 'neutral' state invokes rules of war, does that set the precedent for the declaration of a war following a 'civil action'?

Not necessarily. But it does establish precedent for a 'neutral' state to prosecute its citizens for "violating international law -- including the Geneva Conventions."
It opens up a huge can o' worms, especially if the so-called human rights or other interest groups get involved. Say, a Swede or a Swiss who joins the IDF or French Foreign Legion, or the US military...

The sources say that the casualties occurred in what is believed to have been a remote-controlled blast.

Bad idea. 40% of Jordanians wanted their king to trash the relationship with the US if that is what it took to secure this popular pilot. Those 40% and all the fence-sitters will now be pissed off and go against ISIS if they weren't going to be before.

I think that one of the big problems between the West, especially elites, and the proper responses to this evil is the 21st century world view vs a 7th century view. Back in the 18th, 19th and early 20th century we understood the concept of barbarians and how to deal with them. From WWI on we lost that knowledge/will.
Unless and until we are prepared to "do unto others" we're in for a hard time.

[AnNahar] Syrian government air strikes on opposition-held towns across the country killed at least 44 people on Monday and maimed more than 100, a monitoring group said.
In Jassem in the southern province of Daraa, 16 non-combatants were killed in four air strikes, while 25 were maimed, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The strikes came in response to a major rebel offensive that has been under way in southern Syria for months.
"As usual, the regime is striking populated areas in order to make civilian supporters of opposition fighters turn against them," Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman said.
Rebels fighting to oust Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Supressor of the Damascenes... have suffered a spate of defeats at the hands of his forces, but they still have the upper hand in Daraa.
"Opposition fighters are making steady progress in Daraa province. The vast majority of the west of the province has completely fallen out of government control, and that is where Jassem is located," Abdel Rahman said.
Rebels in the area benefit from "the fact that supply lines from Jordan are still open," he added.
The involvement of experienced fighters from Syria's al-Qaeda affiliate, the al-Nusra ...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant... Front, has also helped the rebels to gain territory in Daraa.
Elsewhere, air strikes on Douma, the besieged rebel-held town east of Damascus, killed at least 10 civilians and maimed dozens more, the Observatory said.
An Agence La Belle France-Presse photographer in Douma said the strikes hit residential areas and that most of the maimed were children.
- Defector killed -
At Khan Sheikhun in the northwestern province of Idlib, 15 people were killed, including a former army officer who had defected from loyalist ranks to join opposition forces, the Observatory said.
Now, nearly four years into the war, there are air strikes every day, despite repeated warnings from the international community that such tactics fail to discriminate between civilian and military targets.
Another three people were killed in strikes elsewhere in Syria -- one in Aleppo province, a second in Damascus province and a third in Busra al-Sham in Daraa province.
The regime first deployed warplanes in the Syrian conflict in July 2012. Now, nearly four years into the war, there are air strikes every day, despite repeated warnings from the international community that such tactics fail to discriminate between civilian and military targets.

"The Kurds now control an area stretching across 14 kilometers (nine miles) southwards from Kobane, 10 kilometers to the east, and 10 to 12 kilometers to the west," said Abdel Rahman. The Observatory director also said Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) backed by Syrian rebels had killed 10 IS members in the past 24 hours.
The U.S.-led coalition targeting the jihadists in both Syria and Iraq reported Monday it had launched 10 air strikes against IS in Syria -- nine near Kobane and one at Deir Ezzor in the east.
Nine of the strikes were concentrated near Kobani, Syria, where Islamic State bully boyz were reported withdrawing after advances by Kurdish and Arab forces, and hit tactical units, staging areas and a vehicle. An Islamic State checkpoint was struck near Dayr as Zawr, Syria, the statement said.

"Peshmerga forces discovered a mass grave yesterday [Sunday] containing the remains of about 25 people -- men, children and women -- from the Yazidi [sect] who were killed by" IS jihadists, local official Myaser Haji Saleh told AFP.
A peshmerga lieutenant colonel said the grave was found near Sinuni during a search for explosives that IS often leaves behind, posing a threat to security forces and civilians even after they withdraw.
"Our forces were searching for explosives and mines planted by [ISIL] in the area and found the grave during the search," the officer said.
Some of the victims had been rubbed out and others "slaughtered" using knives, he said.
ISIL spearheaded a June offensive that began in the northern province of Nineveh, where the mass grave was discovered, and overran large areas north and west of the Iraqi capital.
After sweeping south towards Baghdad, the snuffies again turned their attention to the north in August, driving Kurdish forces back toward their regional capital and seizing areas including Sinuni.
ISIL carried out a campaign of killings, kidnappings and enslavement against Yazidi Kurds living in the area that the UN termed an "attempt to commit genocide."

Good thing there's that White House "Responsibility to Protect" thingie...
[ARA] Erbil, Kurdistan Region ‐ Over the previous days, the city of Raqqa, in northeastern Syria, has seen several splits in the ranks of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group (IS/ISIS), followed by arrest campaigns against a number of the group's members.
The most prominent dissident name was Abu Talha al-Kuwaiti, the head of the al-Hisba security force of the group in the state of Raqqa, who fled with eight Lions of Islam to an unknown destination, which led to imposing curfew in the city as well as carrying out raids and arrests.
Following the defection of al-Kuwaiti, the IS hardline group appointed Abu Huzaifa al-Balijiki as head of Hisba force in the state of Raqqa.
This comes in light of the media blackout imposed by the group.
Military sources in Raqqa told ARA News that the escape of al-Kuwaiti was behind a big coup process led by Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, the IS alderman of Raqqa.
Al-Ansari, aka Abu Luqman, was reportedly fighting in the ranks of al-Nusra ...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant... Front (Syria's al-Qaeda branch) before joining the IS and being named as the governor of Raqqa.
"Two weeks ago, Abu Luqman was found dead, but the IS didn't announce the news of his death or the conditions behind it," a local source in Raqqa (who spoke on the condition of anonymity) said on Sunday.
The same source reported that al-Ansari (Abu Luqman) was earlier accused of coordinating with Abu Talha al-Kuwaiti to carry out a coup against the leadership of the IS group in eastern Syria.
The Islamic State hasn't issued any statement yet regarding the rebellion of al-Kwaiti or the death of al-Ansari.
Last week, the hardline group of IS executed at least 60 foreign Lions of Islam who defected from the group's ranks in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.
On Thursday, the IS Lions of Islam rubbed out four other members in the neighborhood of Rumaila in central Raqqa after describing them as traitors. The group shot the four members dead under the pretext of preserving the group's unity. The Lions of Islam killed in Rumaila were Tunisian nationals who had joined the group months ago.
The Islamic State has recently started launching organized campaigns of arrests and liquidations against its own members in different areas under its control, mainly because of their refusal to follow orders and attempts of rebellion.
