[An Nahar] At least six people were killed during festivities with police at a protest in southern Afghanistan on Wednesday, officials said.
There were differing accounts of what happened.
Authorities said most of the dead were Taliban forces of Evil who infiltrated what they described as the latest in a series of protests against alleged border intrusions by the Pakistain military.
During the demonstration Taliban gunnies opened fire, targeting government buildings and killing two drivers on a highway where hundreds of people had gathered, Kandahar province police chief General Abdul Raziq told Agence La Belle France Presse.
Raziq said police fired back at the gunnies and killed four of them.
"People were demonstrating against Pakistain but the Taliban turned it violent," he said. "The police had to shoot."
The Kandahar province media office said three drivers had been killed by attackers and eight Taliban had been rubbed out by police in Maiwand district.
"There were some armed people who... opened fire from among the demonstrators," it said.
Local residents told AFP the protest was against night raids on homes by joint U.S.-Afghan forces. A Taliban front man said none of its fighters were involved.
A doctor in Maiwand hospital said on condition of anonymity that five bodies and 20 maimed victims had been brought in.
On Monday more than 2,000 people demonstrated and chanted "Death to Pakistain!" on the outskirts of Kabul in response to the border dispute.
Around 3,000 students held a similar rally in the eastern province of Khost ...which coincidentally borders North Wazoo and Kurram Agency... that borders Pakistain.

[An Nahar] Jihadists being pursued by the army on Tunisia's border with Algeria are veterans of the Islamist rebellion in Mali, where La Belle France led an intervention to oust them in January, Interior Minister Lotfi Ben Jeddou said Wednesday.
"They came from Mali," the minister said during an open session in the national assembly, without giving more details on the krazed killers.
"I would have liked this to be a closed session to be able to say more," he told MPs, who were grilling him about the hunt for the two runaway Islamist groups.

[TELEGRAPH.CO.UK] Detectives are investigating if the gunnies were linked to the country's al-Qaeda offshoot.
A detachment of 60 coppers were on their way to arrest the leader of the Ombatse militia when the group's fighters launched their attack. At least 23 officers were killed and many were still missing, said Abayomi Akeremale, the police commissioner of Nasarawa State, which lies on the nominal border between Nigeria's Christian south and its Mohammedan north.
Separate reports said that 46 people were killed, but they could not immediately be verified.
"There was a huge ambush and our men were caught offguard and killed like they were animals," Mr Akeremale said. "Already 23 bodies have been recovered. Most were burnt after they were killed. There are many others who remain unaccounted for."
The Ombatse cult is known to have historic links to animist religions but has recently shifted its focus in line with radical Islamist movements further to Nigeria's north, including Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Like that group, Ombatse has said that it would now target people involved in adultery - as defined within interpretations of strict Islamic law - and those who drink alcohol.
"We decided to send our men to the area to arrest members of Ombatse including their priest," Mr Akeremale said.
"(They) have been going to churches and mosques initiating people into their cult by forcefully administering an allegiance oath to unwilling people."
Hamza Elayo, Nasarawa's Commissioner for Information, said that the authorities had been unconcerned with the movement until its sudden turn to violence.
"Everybody has right to freedom of religion, but when people go about forcing their creed on others in a violent way it becomes unacceptable," he said.
If it's 'unacceptable', what are you going to do about it?

[An Nahar] Nigerian soldiers blanketed the town of Bama on Wednesday, where residents stayed indoors after coordinated assaults by heavily armed Islamist snuffies killed 55 people.
The military said the brazen raid was carried out by some 200 gunnies from the krazed killer group Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... , who stormed the town in a convoy of buses and 4x4 trucks, armed with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.

Russian police officers killed eight suspected Islamist militants in the volatile North Causcasus region where insurgents are fighting to establish an Islamic state, Russia's anti-terrorism agency said on Thursday.
Four were shot dead in a rural region of predominantly Muslim Dagestan, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said.
"(The men) opened fire with automatic weapons on law enforcement officials and as a result of the firefight the militants were fatally wounded," the agency said in a statement.
Three others were killed in separate firefights in two other regions of Dagestan. An eighth suspected rebel was killed in the nearby North Caucasus region of Kabardino-Balkaria.
Russian security forces are trying to staunch an insurgency in the North Caucasus, between the Caspian and the Black Sea, where militants want to establish an Islamist state. Dagestan, on the Caspian Sea, is the epicenter of the insurgency.
U.S. prosecutors charged a third man in connection with an "al-Qaeda-supported" plot to derail a passenger train at the Canada-US border.
Authorities in New York unsealed an indictment Thursday against Ahmed Abassi, a Tunisian citizen, who used to reside in Canada, with fraudulently applying for a work visa in order to remain in the United States to facilitate an act of international terrorism.
Mr. Abassi was arrested by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation on April 22, 2013 but the charges against him were sealed until Thursday. The RCMP arrested two men in Canada that same day -- Chiheb Esseghaier, also a Tunisian national, and Raed Jaser, an Canadian immigrant of Palestinian heritage.
The Mounties have accused the suspects they arrested of a murderous "al-Qaeda-supported" plot to derail a passenger train as it crossed the Canada-U.S. border, and recruiting an unnamed person to advance that conspiracy.
Mr. Abassi is accused of entering the United States specifically to advance a terrorism plot.
[NY Times] Unidentified gunnies kidnapped a son of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday, according to media reports, throwing an already violence-ridden election campaign into more tumult.
Should we be concerned about this or should we nod and remind Gilani that what goes around comes around?
The motive behind the kidnapping remained unclear, but suspicion immediately focused on the Pak Taliban and banned sectarian krazed killer groups. Talibs have issued several threats to political candidates, especially those belonging to liberal and secular parties, and have targeted political rallies with suicide and remote-controlled bombings.

A member of a local government administration was killed and another man was wounded in a drive-by shooting by suspected terrorists militants in Narathiwat province on Wednesday evening.
Siwaka Niseng and Yalae Arlae were together on a motorcycle on a local road in Si Sakhon district when they were followed by two men on another motorcycle. The pillion rider shot at them with an unidentified weapon, killing Ms Siwaka, who was part of the Tambon Si Banpot Administration Organisation, on the spot.
Police from the Si Sakhon district station said they were advised of the incident by residents in the area by telephone. They will inspect the scene on Thursday because the attack occurred on an isolated stretch of road, sided by thick brush, and police feared the terrorists insurgents might use the shooting as a lure to set up an ambush of first responders.
Syria on Thursday welcomed efforts by the United States and Russia to end the country's civil war, as warplanes pounded rebel targets in an offensive to reclaim territory from the opposition.
The strikes came against the backdrop of a new, joint U.S.-Russia effort to bring the sides in the 26-month conflict to the negotiating table before the end of the month. In the first official Syrian reaction to the initiative, Syria's Foreign Ministry said it welcomes the step that could lead to a "national dialogue."
In Israel, security officials said Thursday they have asked Russia to cancel the imminent sale of an advanced air defense system to Syria.
The officials said Israel shared information with the United States in hopes of persuading Russia to halt the planned deal to provide S-300 anti-aircraft missiles. Disclosing the deal, the Israeli officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters.
Israel aircraft evaded Syrian air defenses twice in the past week to strike weapons that it said were to be headed to the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Israel has not officially acknowledged the attacks.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said President Bashar Assad's air force attacked rebel positions in Aleppo and Idlib in the north on Thursday. The group said warplanes hit rebels near the Mannagh military air base outside Aleppo.
[An Nahar] The United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... on Wednesday pulled peacekeepers back from an observation post in the Golan Heights ceasefire zone where four Philippine troops were kidnapped by Syrian rebels, a front man said.

Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman was only immediately able to say that Jawlani had been hit in the foot.
Al-Nusra, which seeks to establish an Islamic state in Syria and has been termed a "terrorist organization" by Washington, is among the most prominent organizations involved in the country's conflict.
It has gained notoriety for suicide kabooms but also won admiration from other forces of Evil for its reputation as a formidable fighting force leading attacks on battle fronts across Syria.
Last month, Jawlani pledged allegiance to Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri ... Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area.
