This is the fourth such tunnel discovered this year in the Podlaskie region, according to border officials. A 69-year-old Polish man and a 49-year-old Lithuanian national were arrested on suspicion of aiding migrant smuggling networks.
Poland said digital monitoring systems were used to calculate the number of migrants colonists who passed through the tunnel, while police and army units continued searches in nearby forested areas.
Since 2021, Poland has accused Belarus and its ally Russia of facilitating irregular migration to destabilise the European Union, allegations repeatedly denied by both Minsk and Moscow.

German authorities said Saturday they had arrested five men on suspicion of involvement in an Islamist plot to plough a vehicle into people at a Christmas market.
Officials have been on high alert during the festive season, after a deadly car-ramming attack at a market in the city of Magdeburg last Christmas shocked the nation.
Police and prosecutors said they had detained an Egyptian, three Moroccans, and a Syrian on Friday over the plan to carry out the attack in the southern Bavaria state.
Investigators suspect "an Islamist motive" for the plot, according to the statement.
The Egyptian, aged 56, was a holy man at a mosque in the Dingolfing-Landau district, German newspaper Bild reported.
According to authorities, he had called for an attack to be carried out on a Christmas market in the area "using a vehicle in order to kill or injure as many people as possible."
The Moroccans — aged 30, 28, and 22 — allegedly then agreed to carry out the attack while the Syrian, 37, encouraged them.
All the suspects were brought before a magistrate on Saturday after their arrest and are in jug.
Joachim Herrmann, state interior minister in Bavaria, told Bild the "excellent cooperation between our security services" had helped to prevent "a potentially Islamist-motivated attack."
Authorities did not say where the suspects were arrested.
It was also not clear when the attack was supposed to take place, how detailed the plans were, and which market was to be targeted.

In a joint statement on Saturday evening, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Defense Minister Israel Katz said that Saad was killed “in response to the activation of a Hamas explosive device that wounded our forces today in the Yellow Zone of the Gaza Strip.”
They added that the Hamas commander “had been engaged in restoring the terror organization and in planning and carrying out attacks against Israel, as well as rebuilding an attack force, in blatant violation of the ceasefire rules and Hamas’s commitments to respect President [Donald] Trump’s plan.”
According to the military, the operative crossed the Yellow Line and approached troops of the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade “in a way that posed an immediate threat.”
The Israeli Air Force then struck and “eliminated the terrorist to remove the threat,” the IDF adds.
Palestinian media reported earlier that one person was killed by Israeli fire in the Jabalia area.
According to the IDF, the bomb exploded while soldiers were working to clear the area of terror infrastructure.
They were taken to a hospital and their families were notified, the army says.
The IDF does not link the incident to the strike on top Hamas commander Raad Saad in Gaza City — which took place several hours later.
The military said the target of the strike “had been involved in efforts to restore and manufacture the group’s weapons,” but has not explicitly claimed that his actions are a violation of the truce.
He is identified in Palestinian media as Mohammed Sabri Al-Adham, 19.
According to WAFA, the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency, he was killed in the Nazla area of Jabalia, on the Hamas-controlled side of the Gaza ceasefire line.

It says those detained under the ongoing investigation include the captain of the tanker. The identity of the vessel and the nationalities of the crew members are not disclosed.
The authorities say the tanker committed multiple violations, including “ignoring stop orders, attempting to flee, (and) lacking navigation and cargo documentation.”
Iran, which has some of the world’s lowest fuel prices due to heavy subsidies and the plunge in the value of its national currency, has been fighting rampant fuel smuggling by land to neighboring countries and by sea to Gulf Arab states.

International human rights groups on Saturday condemned the reported re-arrest of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi in Iran, with the Nobel committee calling on Iranian authorities to immediately clarify her whereabouts.
Mohammadi’s French lawyer Chirine Ardakani said on X that the human rights activist was arrested on Friday after denouncing the suspicious death of lawyer Khosrow Alikordi at his memorial ceremony in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
Iranian authorities have not yet confirmed her arrest. Mashhad’s city governor Hasan Hosseini told Iranian state television on Friday that prosecutors had ordered the temporary detention of several participants at Alikordi’s ceremony, but did not name Mohammadi.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee called on Iranian authorities “to immediately clarify Mohammadi’s whereabouts, ensure her safety and integrity, and to release her without conditions.”
The European Union also demanded that Mohammadi be freed, describing her arrest as “deeply concerning.”
“The EU urges Iranian authorities to release Ms. Mohammadi, taking also into account her fragile health condition, as well as all those unjustly arrested in the exercise of their freedom of expression,” said Anouar El Anouni, a spokesman for the bloc’s diplomatic service.
The spokesman added that “Mohammadi, who already had to endure years in prison because of her advocacy, bravely continues to use her voice to defend human dignity and the fundamental rights of Iranians, including freedom of expression, which must be respected at all times.”
Prominent Iranian dissident activists, including Narges Mohammadi (@nargesfnd) & Sepideh Gholian, were arrested today in Mashhad after speaking at a memorial for Khosrow Alikardi.
A video purportedly showing Mohammadi, 53, without the head covering that Iranian women are required to wear, standing on a car with a microphone and chanting “Long Live Iran” in front of a crowd, has gone viral on social media.
Her lawyer, Ardakani, said Mohammadi was beaten before her arrest, and social media reports say her whereabouts are unknown.
Reporters Without Borders said four journalists and other participants were also arrested at the memorial for human rights lawyer Alikordi, who was found dead in his office on December 5.
Authorities gave the cause of his death as a heart attack, but rights groups have called for an investigation into his death.
Hasan Hosseini said in the interview with state TV that prosecutors had ordered detentions at his ceremony after what authorities have described as “norm‑breaking” slogans.
The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency said the crowd also chanted “death to the dictator,” a reference to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as: “We fight, we die, we accept no humiliation.”
Mohammadi, who received the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize, has spent more than 10 years of her life in prison, most recently from November 2021 when she was charged with “propaganda against the state,” “acting against national security,” and membership in “illegal organizations.”
She has been on furlough since December last year for health reasons.
[Rudaw] The American civilian killed in an ambush on Saturday alongside two US troops in central Syria was a Christian from the Kurdistan Region working with US forces, a US military source in Syria told Rudaw, adding that the attack took place during a meeting with Syrian defense ministry-affiliated forces in Homs province.
Two US soldiers and a civilian were killed in an ambush in Syria’s western Homs province, while three other American soldiers and two Syrian security members were maimed, according to the Pentagon and Syrian state media.
The American civilian killed in the ambush was a Christian from the Kurdistan Region, a US military source in Syria told Rudaw on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
The US team that was attacked was based at the al-Tanf base, located in the tri-border area between Syria, Jordan, and Iraq. According to the same source, the team was in Tadmur (Palmyra), east of Syria’s central Homs province, for a meeting with Syrian armed forces affiliated with the Syrian defense ministry.
The source added that the attack took place during the meeting.

Rooters cited three local officials as saying that "the attacker was a member of the Syrian security forces."
Syrian Interior Ministry spokesperson Noureddine al-Baba told state-run al-Ikhbariya TV that an assessment issued on December 10 regarding the perpetrator indicated that he may hold murderous Moslem ideas, adding that a decision regarding him was scheduled to be issued "tomorrow, as it is the first day of work in the week," but the attack happened before the assessment could take place.
He said the attacker "does not have any command designation within Internal Security, and is not classified as a companion to the Internal Security commander," denying contradicting reports
"There are more than five thousand personnel affiliated with the Internal Security command in the desert, and there are weekly assessments of personnel, and based on these assessments, measures are taken," he said.
The spokesperson also said that security forces had "issued prior warnings" to US forces about a potential ISIS attack, noting that "The international coalition forces did not take the Syrian warnings... into account."
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said the attack occurred as the soldiers “were conducting a key leader engagement” in support of counter-terrorism operations, while US envoy to Syria Tom Barrack said the ambush targeted “a joint US–Syrian government patrol.”
“The savage who perpetrated this attack was killed by partner forces,” US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wrote on X.
Syria’s interior ministry asserted on Saturday that it had warned the US-led coalition of a possible breach by ISIS fighters, but the warnings were not heeded.
“There were prior warnings from the internal security command to allied forces in the desert region,” ministry spokesman Anwar al-Baba said in an interview on state television. “The international coalition forces did not take the Syrian warnings of a possible ISIS infiltration into consideration.”
The incident is the first of its kind reported since Islamist-led forces overthrew longtime Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad in December last year, and rekindled the country’s ties with the United States.
A Pentagon official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the attack “took place in an area where the Syrian president does not have control.”
Syrian state news agency SANA, quoting a security source, earlier reported that several US troops and two Syrian service members had been wounded in the attack.
The soldiers were taking part in a “joint field tour” in Palmyra, which was once under the control of ISIS, SANA reported.
A Syrian military official who requested anonymity said that the shots were fired “during a meeting between Syrian and American officers” at a Syrian base in Palmyra.
A witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said he heard the shots coming from inside the base.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor, which has a wide network of sources inside Syria, the meeting came as part of an “American strategy to strengthen its presence and foothold in the Syrian desert.”
Helicopters evacuated the wounded to the Al-Tanf base in southern Syria, where American troops are deployed, SANA said.
Last month, during Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s visit to Washington, Damascus formally joined the US-led global coalition against ISIS.
US forces are deployed in Syria’s Kurdish-controlled northeast as well as at Al-Tanf near the border with Jordan.

Why are national guard soldiers in Syria to begin with? I'll be damned if I would get fooled into being in the "national guard" when they seem to go over seas a lot.
