[Breitbart] An Algerian national allegedly assaulted two women in the back of his New York taxi in separate incidents but is still snagging fares after getting a sweetheart deal from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, the New York Post reported Saturday.
Records show that Mohammed Bellebia, 34, was allowed to plead guilty to lesser charges in at least one of the incidents, according to the newspaper.
According to the tabloid’s detailed reporting, the cabbie’s first alleged victim was 23-year-old Maile Bartow who entered Bellebia’s yellow cab minivan around 2 a.m. in November of last year after a night on the town with friends.
What should have been an uneventful ten-minute ride to her place on the Lower East turned into a nightmare trip through the darkened streets of the Big Apple.
Bellebia, who reportedly spoke little English, allegedly began touching her leg, according to the Post’s account.
The cabbie not only ignored her pleas to stop, he then groped her genitals, according a lawsuit filed by the woman against the driver and the taxi company — ironically named “Tranquil Taxi.”
During the alleged assault, Bartow snapped a photo of the cabbie’s actions, but he snatched it from her hand and deleted her photos, according to her account. She then began recording her requests for him to stop in a voicemail.
“I started to beg him, ‘Let me out!’” Bartow recalled. “I didn’t want to make him any more mad than he was. I was so scared he was gonna kidnap or kill me.”
The cabbie finally pulled over, she said. She had to call for a ride service to get to her home. The California native had been working in New York as a social media marketing specialist.
She filed a complaint with New York police the next morning.
A month later in December, Bellebia allegedly picked up another 2 a.m. fare and touched that woman’s leg throughout the ride and tried to remove the 33-year-old victim’s underwear, a law enforcement source told the Post.
There was reportedly no partition or camera system in his vehicle.
The cabbie was arrested on Dec. 19, 2024 and charged in both cases, according to the Post. Bellebia faced misdemeanor charges of forcible touching and sexual abuse in Bartow’s case. Conviction could have resulted in a sentence ranging from probation to a year in jail.
Instead, Bellebia pled guilty in March to disorderly conduct and received a “conditional discharge,” the Post reported, avoiding jail time as long as he stayed out of legal trouble.
The second charge is under seal, the Post reported, with no further information available.
Bartow, who has since moved from the city, told the Post she had no idea there had been a second assault allegation and had been largely kept in the dark by the district attorney’s office.
“Oh my God,” she told the Post when she learned of the second woman.
Only when she pestered the DA’s office with phone calls did she learn of the cabbie’s plea deal. Bellebia, meanwhile, had his license suspended after the incident, but it was reportedly reinstated in March.
“He’s back on the road driving the exact same taxi cab,” Bartow told the Post. “I wasn’t looped in at all. They didn’t ask me what I was OK with.”
The newspaper contacted the cabbie, who said he was unaware of the lawsuit filed against him and the taxi company, which the paper reported couldn’t be reached for comment.
During the attempted interview, the Arabic-speaking driver called a friend to translate, who declined further comment. On a second attempt for comment, the cabbie hung up when a reporter asked him if he was in the U.S. illegally.
The charges in Bartow’s case were not bail-eligible, a Manhattan DA spokeswoman told the Post, also saying the driver had no prior convictions.

A former governor on the Federal Reserve Board who suddenly stepped down from her role over the summer violated the bank’s trading rules, according to a report Saturday citing new disclosures from the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.
The documents relating to Adriana Kugler revealed multiple purchases and sales of shares in stocks such as Apple, Southwest Airlines and restaurant group Cava, and showed that many of the purchases and sales happened during a blackout period ahead of policy meetings when officials aren’t allowed to make such transactions, The New York Times reported.
The disclosures state that "certain trading activity was carried out by Dr. Kugler's spouse, without Dr. Kugler's knowledge, and she affirms that her spouse did not intend to violate any rules or policies."
The Federal Reserve’s rules, which apply to policymakers’ spouses and children, prohibit trades in individual companies and limit purchases to diversified investments and mutual funds, according to the Times.
The newspaper added that the rules also ban trading in cryptocurrencies, foreign exchange and commodities and block any transactions from being made during a roughly two-week period before policymakers get together to vote on new interest rates.
The Federal Reserve overhauled its trading rules in 2022 after some policymakers were found to be participating in financial markets while the Federal Reserve was taking steps to back the U.S. economy at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the newspaper also said.
FOX Business has reached out to the U.S. Office of Government Ethics for comment.
The central bank said, as a governor, "Dr. Kugler was an active member in multiple committees, including the Committee on Financial Stability, the Committee on Federal Reserve Bank Affairs, the Committee on Board Affairs and the Subcommittee on Smaller Regional and Community Banking."
The Times reported Saturday that some of the improper trades, which ranged as high as $250,000, were flagged to a Federal Reserve internal watchdog early this year.
Just prior to her resignation announcement, Kugler asked Powell in July to grant her a waiver so that she could trade during the blackout period and get rid of impermissible holdings, but that request was denied, the newspaper added.
A Federal Reserve official told FOX Business that Kugler had an initial filing with the Office of Government Ethics in October 2024 and said she said her husband had carried out some trades that violated policy and that she was curing them. Around the end of last year, Kugler also had training with ethics officials and, over the course of that training, it became clear to the officials that Kugler had additional potential violations, the official added.
Kugler initially was going to leave the Federal Reserve in January, and, at the time of her early departure, was going to return to Georgetown University to teach, the Times reported.

Jewish gun owners, firearms instructors and security professionals in New York City say demand for firearms training and concealed-carry permits has surged since the election of mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, with many citing concerns about safety and a perceived shift in the city’s political climate, according to a Saturday New York Post report.
At Samson Armory, a recently opened gun shop in Brooklyn, owner Michael Bergida said interest rose sharply immediately after Mamdani’s victory. Bergida, 30, an NRA-certified firearms instructor and Orthodox Jew, said many of his new customers are older Jewish residents, clergy members and others who fear rising antisemitism.
"We’re probably the only gun store to have a minyan," Bergida said. He described growing anxiety within Orthodox communities and predicted "chaos" under the new administration. "The NYPD is all retiring — we have to fight for ourselves. People are freaking out over Mamdani — anyone who has any Christian-Judeo values," he stated.
Bergida said he works closely with synagogues on preparedness. "It’s like doomsday prepping — people are loading up ammo," he said. "I have a passion to prep Jews."
Despite the concerns he cited, Bergida said he has no plans to leave the city. "We ain’t fleeing — we’re here to stay. We’re not victims anymore."
Other firearms instructors reported similar spikes.
"It’s getting busy because of him," said Lance Dashefsky, a gun safety instructor who teaches the mandatory state concealed-carry curriculum. He said many students explicitly cite the mayor-elect when asked why they want a gun license.
Brooklyn instructor Ross Den said the trend now includes Jewish doctors, lawyers, plumbers and even rabbis.
"There are plenty of rabbis who carry — shul is where the greatest threat is," he said. Den added that bringing a concealed weapon to a synagogue is legal if the congregant is designated by the house of worship’s leadership as a security volunteer.

According to NYPD licensing data, concealed-carry applications rose from 620 in June — when Mamdani won the Democratic primary — to 706 in August, a 14 percent increase. Approvals typically take six months to a year and require completion of a state-mandated 18-hour course.
The increase in gun-carrying activity among some Jewish New Yorkers follows years of debate over firearms in houses of worship. [TOWNHALL] The former Director of Fleet and Facilities for the company that manages the operations and maintenance of Boston Public Schools' fleet of school buses was arrested and charged today for allegedly soliciting bribes from vendors who worked on the buses and in the bus yards. One of the vendors who allegedly paid bribes was also arrested and charged.
Michael Muller, 59, of Millbury, Mass. and John Colantuoni, 60, of Westwood, Mass. were charged in a 21-count indictment.
Muller is charged with five counts of soliciting and accepting bribes as an agent of BPS, five counts of conspiring to commit bribery, five counts of conspiring to commit honest services mail fraud and four counts of extortion.
Colantuoni is charged with one count of paying bribes to Muller as an agent of BPS, one count of conspiring to commit bribery, one count of conspiring to commit honest services mail fraud and one count of obstruction of justice.
Muller will make his initial appearance in federal court in Boston at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. Colantuoni was arrested in Florida this morning and is expected to make his initial appearance in federal court in Tampa today. Colantuoni will appear in Boston at a later date.
Court documents say that Muller's employer, the ''Transportation Company,'' had a contract with BPS to manage the operations and maintenance of BPS' fleet of over 700 school buses. When not on the road, the buses were kept in bus yards owned by the City of Boston. Muller allegedly supervised all the Transportation Company employees who worked in the yards. According to the BPS contract, Muller's job was to ''ensure that BPS's fleet is safe, well-maintained and ready for service on a daily basis.''

The island that he picked was under nominally under US control. To do what he did, Jefferey would have had to have had total control of the local government in the same way that the Mexican government is a wholly owned subsidiary. If that was not the case, there is no way that those people visit him there. He also had facilities in Florida, NYC and New Mexico.
