For forty years, the Lyndon LaRouche movement has been a ubiquitous, if diminishing, presence in the political landscape of America, and of Washington. LaRouche has made eight runs for the presidency, including one campaign from prison. At D.C. press conferences and think tank events, a reporter for a LaRouche publication called Executive Intelligence Review can often be heard asking strange questions about the grain cartel. Young, malnourished LaRouche acolytes frequently stop Hill staffers on their way home from work and hand them pamphlets with titillating titles like "Children of Satan" or "The Gore of Babylon." Stopped clock shows correct time . . . blind squirrel finds nuts . . .
A peek inside offers details on LaRouche's many enemies, such as the "Conrad Blackbacked McCainLiebermanDonna Brazile cabal." That one's too loopy even for the likes of DU.
One of the LaRouche movement's longest-serving loyalists was Ken Kronberg. A handsome classics scholar and drama teacher, Kronberg owned and managed PMR Printing, the outfit that has generated the idiosyncratic propaganda that sustains LaRouche's entire enterprise. Last year, the LaRouche organization spent more than $2.5 millionat least 60 percent of its publicly reported expenditureson printing and distributing pamphlets. Most of this money went to PMR. . . .
On April 11, 2007, Kronberg sat in PMR's offices in Sterling, Virginia, forty-five miles northwest of Washington, to read the "morning briefing," a daily compendium of political statements that reflect the outcome of the executive committee meetings held at LaRouche's house in the nearby town of Round Hill. This particular briefing struck unnervingly close to home. Written by a close associate of LaRouche's and addressed to the movement's younger followers, the brief bitterly attacked what it called the "baby boomers" in the organizationmembers like Kronberg who had joined LaRouche in the late 1960s and early '70s. The brief named "the print shop"Kronberg's operationas a special target. "The Boomers will be scared into becoming human, because you're in the real world, and they're not," the brief read. "Unless," the writer added, the boomers "want to commit suicide."
This note may have had an effect. At 10:17 a.m., Kronberg sent an e-mail to his accountant instructing him to transfer $235,000 held in an escrow account to the IRS. He got in his blue-green Toyota Corolla and drove east. He mailed some family bills at the post office, then turned around onto the Waxpool Road overpass. Just before 10:30 a.m., Kronberg parked his car on the side of the overpass, turned on his emergency lights, and flung himself over the railing to his death. At least, that's the official story.
As surely as night follows day, as surely as blind squirrels grope aimlessly for nuts,
LaRouche's current and former followers immediately burst forth with conspiracy theories. . . . "Betcha it was Queen Elizabeth, a couple of Wall Street investment houses, the McCainLiebermanDonna Brazile cabal, and Colonel Mustard, in the parlor, with a candlestick."
"Nah. It was the Carlyle Group, Howard Dean, and Mrs. White, in the library, with the rope."
Go read the rest. It's amusing.

Wow, Lyndon LaRouche is still alive? What kind of person would, in this day and age, follow such a nutbag?
#3
There actually (twice???) had been a larouchian among the candidates for the french presidency, Jacques Cheminade, they've got front orgs here and in Germany.
#4
Larouchians = Thruthers = Ron Paul neophytes = Birchers = anti-Floride birkestock wearing retro hippies = Harold Stassen interns = those people in Barnes & Noble coffee shops with huge 3 ring binders full of thousand of pages of copious notes = The homeless guy out front of the WH in Lafayette Sq. with all those signs about War and Peace = Dan Rather's molester = The guys who wear tinfoil hats = Tiny Tim afficianodos = Rantburg trolls.
Is that clear enough picture of who these people are?

I recall an interview where Henry Kissinger was asked about Larouche's paranoid claims that he was a murder target of the Doctor. Kissinger doesn't laugh much; he laughed at that.

We had a Chevy S-10 pick-up. Bright red, 8' bed for drywall and studs when we worked on the house. For a couple of years it was my vehicle... we sold it when we moved to Germany, I think. But I don't think anyone will write a country song about me in it. ;-)
Tony Aiello WHITE PLAINS (CBS) ¯ The CBS 2 HD Westchester crew was about to head out on a story Friday when the news found them. Just outside our bureau Dr. William Moody, a White Plains dentist, left his Mercedes to confront Luis Infante for blocking his access to a parking lot. Moody even forced his way into Infante's car as if to move it himself.
Not long after, fists -- and bodies -- started flying.
"He was saying bad words to me, then he spit in my face," Infante said "Twice." Then Dr. Moody spotted CBS 2 HD photographer Chris Calarco. Reporter Tony Aiello warned Moody not to touch the camera, but to no avail.
Police were called to the scene after Moody smacked the camera twice. While they arrived, Dr. Moody confronted the driver's sister, pushing her to the ground.
Yolanda Infante is okay, but considering this incident came so soon after her father's death just Thursday night, she is shaken. "I'm devastated," Yolanda Infante said. "Besides my father's death, this happened in this moment." Unedited video after news cast footage. I've dealt with raging Yorkers before, no surprise here, just disgust

I carry industrial sized and Strength pepper foam for asshats like this. If assault and battery is their plan because they can't control their emotions it's simple self defense. Spray them and call 911.

Actually, I have found New Yorkers to be among the nastiest people when angry. Everyone gets angry, but not everyone "expresses themselves" the same way.
Points for originality...
PONTIAC A 54-year-old employee of a Pontiac car repair shop apparently decapitated himself early Thursday using a cable and the thrust of his tow truck. Yeah, probably saw it on Jackass or something...
Authorities in Livingston County released few details of the death and declined to identify the man pending notification of relatives. The mans employer called the death outside the shop a suicide. Hey, CSI:Pontiac will be the judge of that.
The man, who had worked at S&R Route 66 Auto Center on the western edge of Pontiac for about four years, appears to have tied a cable to a sign in front of the business and the other end around his neck. Then, at about 4:30 a.m., he got inside his tow truck and popped the clutch. ...and the rest is history.
Jeff Semmens, the owner of S&R, said the man usually kept the tow truck at his house, but had been sick the last few days and left it at the shop. He was a pretty good guy, Semmens said. It really freaks me out I cant think of why hed want to do this. Well, take a minute...Anything?
Semmens had not arrived at the shop by the time police had already found the decapitated body. He said he usually gets to work around 5 a.m. Ummmm...yeah, Mr. Semmens? Pontiac PD. Ya might wanna come in early today.
A bystander in the area called 911 at 4:27 a.m. to report a tow truck driving erratically through the S&R and neighboring parking lots along a commercial area off Illinois 116 near its junction with old Route 66. The truck careened through the S&R parking lot and adjacent Superior Gyros parking lot eastward, then struck a sign and crossed old Route 66. It went down an embankment and came to rest behind a business on the other side of the road. Get his kicks on Route 66...but not for long. When police arrived, they found the mans head in the S&R parking lot and his body inside the truck. Ever seen one like this, sarge?
What's wrong with you, Mulddon?

In case any one is wondering, that's Michigan 66.
US route 66, The Main Street of America, ran between Chicago and Santa Monica. Not east through Michigan.
Roy Wallace, who has died aged 80, developed stereophonic sound recording for the Decca company and designed the famous Decca tree microphone array which became the standard way across the industry of recording orchestral and operatic sound.
A meticulous man with a mathematical mind, Wallace Jolly Wally to his friends was also a bon vivant with an abiding passion for music.
Beginning his career in the days of mono recordings, Wallaces reputation in the classical music industry enjoyed a late resurgence as 21st-century listeners rediscovered the hiss and the natural nature of the original recordings, absent in the digital world of CDs.

This golden parachute bullshit needs to end. CEOs need to produce like everyone one else, and if they can't cut it then they need to piss off and get fired like everyone else. Go stand in the unemployment line, asshat.

Somehow I knew someone would blame Bush. This President must be in control of everything. The shear stupidity of that last comment amazes me. NOT. Rewarding CEOs for bad performance precluded the Bush administration by many years.

I dont blame Bush, just his cronie string pullers who represent the elite of corporate America. To say this isnt true is to be putting your head in the sand. But, a sandy head wont help your impoverished ass when the financial they've so carefully laid in the US economy, GOES OFF, BOOM! all the middle class Americans are suddenly lower class americans with not much of a pot to piss in.
#8
with a very small or non existant middle class, the "elites" of corporate America can really get down to work. the only problem is, you dont want to kill the golden goose, just clip its wings a bit, therin lies the tricky part.
#9
One of the nice things about America is that the class warfare thingy just doesn't work here. The statistics show our class structure is more like a rolling boil than a layer cake, with people moving from poor to middle class to rich -- and the other way round -- over the course of decades, if not generations. A great many corporate senior vice presidents were the first one in their families to go to college.
With a very small middle class, the elites of corporate America would have no educated employees to do the work. Look at Pakistan or Mexico, or anywhere in the Third World, really. That's what economies look like without a large middle class. Honestly, Claique McCoy1045, even I know that much, and I'm just a little suburban housewife with no understanding of financial matters at all (much to Mr. Wife's dismay).
#10
corporations in america dont need educated employees as much as they once did, what with overseas outsourcing, also, corporations are not beholden to one country or another, they exist seperately and can change their "nationalities" at will, an example would be Halliburton, it is a Bahamian Company these days. Just wait and see what happens by the end of the reign of King George, just you want. smugness will avail you nothing trailing wife.
#11
McCoy, as one of the middle-class educated employees that you seem to think are about to evaporate, I can only say that that your left-wing, cartoon-grade stereotypes of the corporate world literally scream your total ignorance. You're rude too.

Saying Bush or his cronies are in charge of the corporate elite is about as retarded a statement as Bush caused Katrina. I blame the elite board of fucking directors that plays the good 'ol boys club. They look out for each others and make sure the stock doesn't go down too much. Maybe make a profit here and there. Other than that, they don't do much. And thus, their companies either stagnate or only progress through the buying of smaller, more agile and imaginative companies. Rinse, repeat. I don't want a law against it, since I believe in free markets, but big corporate America needs to wake up if they want to keep their nice salaries.
#14
The last time I participated in a free market was when I sold my spare fan belt to a guy with a busted one parked out in the Great American Desert. Made a 170% profit, taxfree.
#15
Good thing you unloaded that spare belt. In my experience, buying a spare belt is a sure way to hasten catastrophic engine/motor failure. And there's a 99.99% chance that the replacement machine will use a different belt. Doesn't matter if it's a car, a lawn mower, or a clothes dryer. It's a universal law.
#16
The law you cite has been broken. The guy I encountered out in the desert had the exact same make & model I was driving, the belt was a perfect fit.
NEW DELHI: A lone monkey let loose a nightmare for the residents of Shastri Park in east Delhi on Saturday, attacking and injuring at least 25 people through the night and fleeing in the early hours of Sunday.
The rampage comes less than a month after deputy mayor S S Bajwa died after fending off a monkey attack at his residence.
"Look out, yer deputy honor! He's got a knife!"
The attack on Saturday began around 7pm and continued late into the night. Several of those bitten or injured were children below five years of age, some of whom the monkey tried to drag away, eyewitnesses said. Most of those injured were taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital but residents complained that help wasnt forthcoming.

As part of the preparations for the youth wing conference of DMK at Salem in December, Local Administration minister M K Stalin held a meeting of the party's office-bearers here on Sunday.
Speaking at the meeting, Stalin exhorted the young members to get inspired by the efforts made by party leader M Karunanidhi for the welfare of the people of the state.
Youth wing secretary Adv Rajendran MLA and Veerapandi Raja MLA, who were present at the meeting, offered Rs 5 lakhs each for the two-day conference scheduled to be held from December 15. Made ya look!
Almost a century after a mysterious explosion in Russia flattened a huge swath of Siberian forest, scientists have found what they believe is a crater made by the cosmic object that made the blast. The crater was discovered under a lake near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in western Siberia, where the cataclysm, known as the Tunguska event, took place. . . .

MSM > still putting out historical Russian research fotage depicting Tunguska as caused by an AIR BURST. WHat are they arguing here - that (1) the object " struck = "bumped" the ground first before exploding in air; or (2) they found the hole made from a post-air burst piece of the rock???

Historians say Mr. Putin may have cited Dr. Kovals accomplishments as a way to rekindle Russian pride.
"Pride" with regard to betrayal and stealing technology someone else has developed? I doubt it. This is just another stick in the eye from Putin to the US. I hope we learn something from this little celebration, but I am not hopeful.

The most surprising thing about this disclosure was that Koval had been assigned to the Manhattan Project even though he had spent time & had been educated in the USSR. What were they thinking of?
The other surprising thing was that eventually (article doesn't say when) he was known to be a spy. During the later investigation co-workers on the Manhattan Project were debriefed and then sworn to secrecy. His role in destroying US nuclear supremacy has only now been disclosed - by the Russians.
Reading I've done on this has stated there were several other high-placed US spies of that time who have never been disclosed, although there identities may be known to "top officials." I suspect the US has learned very little from such matters.
At long last, the often-rumored, often-discussed, often-delayed new sports station in San Diego is ready to go on the air.
Barring anything unforeseen, the plan is for XTRA Sports 1360 to debut at 3 p.m. Monday with none other than Lee Hamilton welcoming you the fan to KLSD-AM, which has been carrying a progressive-talk format. I'm fired up, Hamilton said yesterday afternoon, less than 100 hours from his return to afternoon drive time in San Diego after an absence of nearly five years. It should have never, ever happened and now we're back.

The really funny thing is the incredibly weak programming that Air America is being replaced by. This one is being replaced by a worn-out sports host who got kicked off the air five years ago.
More KKKrushing of dissent in Bushitler's AmeriKKKa! How did KKKarl Rove get to the program director?

actually, the "Hacksaw" Lee Hamilton has been on the air continuously on KOGO - I don't care much for him. Air America stickers on cars here in San Diego clearly identify a loser, and I make it a point not to let them merge in my lane on the road. Lets em revel in their inner rage. Just trying to help

Perfect call letters for 'Progressive' talk radio. Shame they lost them.

Finding a still functioning Air America station is like finding those Japanese soldiers who ran around the islands in the fifties that didn't know the war was over...

A TWO-YEAR-OLD Indian girl who was born with four arms and four legs is making a good recovery after a marathon operation last week, doctors said overnight. "She is more or less stable now but her wounds have to heal still," said Sharan Patil, who led the team of surgeons that completed the 27-hour procedure last Thursday.
Lakshmi, named after the four-armed Hindu goddess of wealth, was born fused to the pelvis of the twin that stopped developing in her mother's womb.
"Infection is still an issue because she is so little," Dr Patil said. "We will decide tomorrow when to move her from the ICU (Intensive Care Unit)."
Lakshmi is cheerful and has been spending time with her father, Shambhu, mother Poonam, and older brother Mithelesh over the past two days, responding well to interaction with her family and hospital staff, said the surgeon. She is able to eat semi-solid food such as rice pancakes and soft breads after regaining consciousness and being taken off a respirator on Saturday, Dr Patil said.
In the rare, risky operation, the first of its kind to be performed in India, doctors separated Lakshmi from the organs and body parts of the other foetus, a condition that occurs once in 50,000 conjoined twin births.
Her parents, from a remote district in poverty-stricken eastern Bihar state, brought her to Bangalore after a New Delhi hospital refused to perform the operation saying the case was too complex and the cost prohibitive. The surgery, which cost 2.4 million rupees ($66,340), was performed free by the Bangalore hospital.
