[TOWNHALL] President Biden appeared confused Thursday evening when asked what he thought states impacted by Hurricane Helene needed after he spent the day touring parts of Florida and Georgia that were battered by the Category 4 storm.
''What do the states in the storm zone need after what you saw today?'' a reporter asked him.
Biden paused momentarily before responding.
''Oh, in the storm zone!'' he said.
''Yes, sir,'' the reporter replied.
''I'm wondering what storm you're talking about,'' Biden continued. ''They're getting everything they need and they're very happy across the board.''

[Newser] Nearly 1 in 5 Secret Service staffers left the agency in 2022 and 2023, leaving it "unprepared" for a year in which a former president would face two assassination attempts, the New York Times reports, noting "even agents willing to take a bullet for the president were often unwilling to tolerate life at the agency that protects him." At least 1,400 of 7,800 employees jumped ship in "the largest outflow from the agency in at least two decades," with reasons for the "exodus" blamed on punishing overtime, which resulted in no additional pay after a certain point; perceptions of favoritism; dilapidated facilities; and a poorly conceived retiree program that pushed many agents into retirement "so they could be paid a salary and a pension at once," per the outlet.
In July 2023, then-director Kimberly Cheatle described the critical need to retain employees in an agencywide email. Yet resignations kept coming. The Secret Service had then been seeing "overwork causing departures, causing more overwork" for at least 10 years, per the Times. In a recent survey, 68 of 153 agents said they hit the pay cap for protective details ($221,145 in 2024), with some missing out on some $30,000 in overtime. In an effort to boost numbers, the agency lowered recruiting standards, but that meant taking on new hires who didn't fully understand the job and were more likely to quit, one agent said. The agency also took on a man who'd reportedly held a gun to his girlfriend's head, the Times reports.
The service also sought to welcome back retirees with a salary paid on top of their pensions, but that only led more agents to retire so they could benefit. And some agents say those who were brought back contributed little. One was reportedly put to work painting an office. Cheatle ultimately helped boost the service's numbers to 8,100, "its highest level ever," with bonuses and enhancing subsidized child care among the benefits, per the Times. But staffing levels remain below the goal for 2023, and a senior official tells the Hill that the agency is being pushed to its limits. CNN has also reported on what agents say is "a high-stress, high-intensity workplace beset by management and logistical issues."

Facebook deleted my post about the real jobs numbers. Here it is. eptember jobs report claims 254,000 jobs on September. In September, more than three million Americans lost their jobs in the United States. However, the September jobs report showed a big increase in employment, with 254,000 jobs added4. Job cut announcements dropped slightly in September, with employers announcing 72,821 cuts, a decline of 4% from August3. The link I used is no longer found.

Reports are that FEMA is confiscating items meant for hurricane victims and putting them in storage. The biggest looters in hurricane Helene disaster areas is FEMA.

Soros is a globalist interfering in your nation
So are all the largest corporations
They own the political system but for a few rogue politicians who try to serve the people
We have to rebuild our societies from the ground up, join your local and state institutions, school boards, councils
Change their procurement to small local suppliers, cut out big corporations wherever possible.
School lunches? Have 15 local small business suppliers not one big national supplier.
Start doing this, cut off the legs of the globalists
Small business means self-determinationfor your nation
Multinational corporations, wef and UN means billionaire oligarchy runs everything

"there’s no way we’re gonna find someone up here or a place to land. I saw him flashing a mirror. A mirror is a great signaling device.”" A burning spare tire is an even better signaling device in clear daytime conditions. I've found no online mention of CB, FRS and GMRS radios being used to communicate with those marooned by Helene. Big box stores all over the affected areas have been selling them for many years now. It's hard to believe these haven't already been used multiple times for rescue & relief purposes. FCC requires amateur radio licenses for 2M transceivers, which have been available for <$25 for years now -- license requirements do not apply during emergencies. Keeping all these charged for more than a few days is a problem. Generators and vehicles can be used for charging with DC DC converters but many aren't aware this can be done, and many don't have these readily available.

it's actually true that emergency services have to control a disaster zone and not let in any unknown volunteers for very good reason
sometimes they say they are helping but instead loot or do worse to survivors.
That's why firefighters always have control of hte ground (in australia)
Volunteers are best to volunteer through established services not go it alone, because they can expect to be told not to go in. Nobody can tell if they are looters or not, that is the problem
Also even if well-intentioned, they can become a casualty

There are instances in which you don't wait for 'authorities'. You don't ask from some power hungry individual a "mother may I". When the people start to finally arrive, they should coordinate not shut down efforts till they can replace the workers on the ground. Till then either lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way.

Random, previously un-met individuals thrown together in chaotic circumstances are self organizing in real time, before our very eyes better than over paid govt 'professionals'.

Historically, Americans have stepped in to help others in bad situations, less so recently. In order to get Americans to back off an authority has to demonstrate that they are taking decisive, organized and effective action. Since Abbey Gate, the Biden Administration has demonstrated everything but capability. Nobody trusts or respects Fed authority currently.

[FoxNews] The deadly hurricane has claimed at least 230 lives
Reporters had a unique opportunity to question President Biden when he made a surprise appearance at the White House press briefing on Friday, but didn't ask about the historic disaster unfolding in the Southeast in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
It was the first time that Biden appeared at a White House press briefing since taking office. The president spoke briefly about the suspended port workers strike and Friday's positive jobs numbers, and he announced that he may request additional money from Congress to fund Hurricane Helene relief efforts. But there was no follow-up from the press on hurricane relief.
After thanking the president for his presence, the first reporter asked about Republicans casting doubt on his economic numbers, saying, "Florida Sen. Marco Rubio described today's jobs report as having fake numbers. What do you make of that? And how worried are you that many Americans are hearing that the jobs numbers aren't real?"
The crisis in the Middle East was the biggest topic, with questions about Biden's comments about strikes on Iranian oil facilities, Israeli plans to retaliate, possible U.S. sanctions, and worries about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu trying to influence the U.S. election.
Election security and the peaceful transfer of power were also top of mind for reporters.
"The election is a month away. One, I'd like to know how you're feeling about how this election is going. And then also, do you have confidence that it will be a free and fair election and that it will be peaceful?" one reporter asked. "Are you making any preparations, getting security briefings related to domestic security?"
The only mention of Hurricane Helene, with a death toll topping 230, was in a question about Vice President Kamala Harris' role in the administration.
"There have obviously been a number of crises that the country has been facing over the past several days with the hurricane, with the port strike, with the situation in the Middle East. Can you talk about how your vice president, who is running for the presidency, has worked on these crises and what role she has played over the past several days?" a reporter asked.
The Biden-Harris administration has come under fire from former President Trump for the federal response to the devastation left by Helene, already one of the deadliest hurricanes this century.
The White House has pushed back hard against these criticisms, emphasizing that Biden has coordinated the federal response, including approving emergency declarations and deploying 1,000 active-duty soldiers to support search-and-rescue efforts. More than 4,800 personnel from FEMA and other agencies have been deployed to North Carolina and neighboring states impacted by Helene. Additionally, FEMA has shipped over 8.5 million meals, more than 7 million liters of water, 150 generators and over 220,000 tarps to aid response efforts, according to the White House.
As of Friday, the federal government has provided more than $45 million in Individual assistance to survivors affected by the storm, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, including in the form of one-time $750 payments from FEMA to qualified applicants in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
While Biden ended his own press conference dry spell, Harris has not held a formal news conference since emerging as the Democratic nominee when Biden dropped out in July.
[Nt'l Pulse] A gun owners coalition supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign has only eight members on average in each state it is active in. GIFFORDS Gun Owners for Harris-Walz, organized by a pro-gun control PAC founded by former Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), reports having just 400 active members across 45 total U.S. states as of its launch on Thursday.
The Democrat gun owners group aims to organize pro-gun voters in support of Harris and Walz, a demographic with which Democrats have almost universally struggled to win over for decades. Additionally, GIFFORDS Gun Owners for Harris-Walz says it will provide cover for the Democratic presidential ticket from Republican attacks highlighting Harris and Walz’s past anti-Second Amendment stances.
Giffords is one of the Democratic Party’s most visible advocates for gun control. Notably, she was featured on the main stage of the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) alongside her husband, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ). In 2020, she also appeared on the party convention’s main stage, backing Joe Biden and pushing for stringent gun control laws.
The former Arizona Congressman, once seen as moderate on gun policy, founded the pro-gun control GIFFORDS PAC after being shot in the head in an assassination attempt in 2011. Giffords suffered a severe brain injury as a result of the shooting but has since regained much of her ability to speak and walk.
Kamala Harris claims she owns a handgun, a point which she emphasized during the September presidential debate with former President Donald J. Trump. Despite the claim, the Harris campaign has been evasive when pressed for more details about the firearm.
Meanwhile, Harris’s running mate, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), suffered an embarrassing gaffe during his debate square-off with Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) earlier this week while defending his anti-Second Amendment record. While attempting to use school shootings as a shield, Walz stated that he had "befriended school shooters."

[IsraelTimes] US Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with leaders from the Arab American community in Flint, Michigan, on Friday, as her presidential campaign seeks to win back voters angry at U.S. support for Israel’s wars in Gaza and Lebanon, two sources say.
Meeting participants include leaders from the Muslim advocacy group Emgage, which recently endorsed Harris, the American Task Force on Lebanon, and a long-standing friend of Harris, Hala Hijazi, who has lost dozens of family members in Gaza, said the sources, who did not wish to be named.
Other such as Jim Zogby, founder of the Arab American Institute and a longtime member of the Democratic National Committee, said he declined the invitation. Leaders from the Uncommitted National Movement protest campaign said they have not been invited to the meeting.
“I wish she would meet with leaders from the community who haven’t endorsed her or support her,” said one of the sources.
The meeting is one of several attempts in recent days to mend fences with Muslim and Arab voters, who resoundingly backed Democrat Joe Biden in 2020 but could withhold their votes from Harris in numbers that would cost her the key state of Michigan.
During the half-hour meeting, Harris expressed her concern on the scale of suffering in Gaza, civilian casualties and displacement in Lebanon and discussed efforts to end the war, according to a campaign official. She also discussed efforts to prevent a regional war, the official added.
Wa’el Alzayat, CEO of Emgage Action which recently endorsed her, said participants shared their deep disappointment with the US handling of the crisis and called on her to do everything in her power to end the war and reset US policy in the region.
“Emgage Action asked Vice President Harris to impress upon President Biden the urgency of bringing an immediate end to the violence” in Gaza and Lebanon, Alzayat said. “She agrees that this war needs to end.”
Ed Gabriel, president of the American Task Force on Lebanon, said the meeting included a good “give and take” on the issues, including “the need for a ceasefire, and the support needed from the United States and its allies to address the humanitarian crisis, the presidential leadership void in Lebanon, and the important role of the Lebanese Armed Forces.”
“We heard a lot of compassion on her side. We’ll see what happens,” he said. “This was a valuable two-sided exchange, and we made important progress in our relationship. We’re going to continue to meet.”
Other participants included Assad Turfe, deputy county executive of Wayne County, Michigan’s most populous county.
Hala Hijazi, a longtime friend of Harris who has lost dozens of members of her family in Gaza, was unable to attend.
Harris’s meeting on Friday comes on the heels of other efforts by her team this week. On Thursday, her vice presidential pick, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, promised on a Zoom call with Muslim voters that Muslims would have an equal role in a Harris administration.
Harris’s national security adviser, Phil Gordon, virtually met with leaders from the Arab and Muslim community on Wednesday and said the administration supports a ceasefire in Gaza, diplomacy in Lebanon and stability in the West Bank.
Critics say Biden and Harris have done too little to stop Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, while continuing to supply Israel with weapons to carry it out.
Some Arab Americans believe Harris’s refusal to distance herself from President Biden’s policies in the Middle East, as Israel escalates its attacks, will cost her in November.
“Harris is going to lose Michigan,” said Ali Dagher, a Lebanese American attorney and community leader. “I will not be voting for Kamala Harris. No one I know will vote for her. I cannot find a single person in the community who supports her.”

The problem here is arab-americans, like the other support groups, feel that they should get something back in return for their support.
Nobody is going to get anything in return for support.
The carcass has already been divvied up. Soylent Green for you.

If they want peace, they will vote for Trump. I don’t think they want peace. The Dems will have to explicitly disown Israel to lock down Michigan. They will do that in the last week before the election.

[BREITBART] The International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) has snubbed the Harris-Walz ticket with a non-endorsement — news which comes after Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) spoke at their event in August.
IAFF President Edward Kelly made the announcement on Thursday following an executive board meeting, where the determination was made.
''Today, the IAFF Executive Board, by a margin of 1.2 percent, voted to not endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election,'' he announced, noting that IAFF took ''unprecedented steps to hear out members' views on the candidates and the policy issues that matter most to them'' over the last year.
''As we have over our 106-year history, the IAFF will continue its work to improve the lives of firefighters and their families,'' Kelly continued, contending that the Executive Board determined that ''we are better able to advocate for our members and make progress on the issues that matter to them if we, as a union, are standing shoulder-to-shoulder.''
''This decision, which we took very seriously, is the best way to preserve and strengthen our unity,'' he continued, encouraging members to get out and ''make their voices heard in the upcoming election.''

No endorsement, but they invite Vance to address their membership. No Union pressure to vote Dems because union members are sick of it and are willing to vote their own union hierarchy out over the BS.

At every turn Biden is trying to ensure a Trump win in November.
Everything he does and every time he opens his mouth, he undermines her campaign.
Biden is furious that he was tossed aside by the Democrats. His first payback was naming Harris as his successor. It was supposed to be Hillary.
His comments last week tying her to his policies was another act of sabotage.
Biden has Irish Alzheimer's. He forgets everything but his grudges.
[ALJAZEERA] Military officials in the United States are debating whether sending more forces to the Middle East risks further emboldening Israel, according to a report in The New York Times
...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... US officials say its policy of military support for Israel seeks a ''de-escalation of the situation through deterrence and diplomacy.'' But some bigwigs now question if it is having the desired effect, the paper says.
In the 12 months since Hamas ..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,... attacked Israel, the Pentagon has supplied billions of dollars of weapons to Israel, while sending its own aircraft carriers, guided missile destroyers and fighter squadrons, as well deploying 43,000 troops in the region.
The Times said several Pentagon officials expressed concern that Israel was waging an increasingly aggressive campaign against the Lebanese gang Hezbollah, knowing that ''an armada of American warships and dozens of attack planes stand ready to help blunt any Iranian response.''
One official was quoted as saying it was in Israel's interest to take advantage of the beefed-up US military presence in the region to achieve its objectives of destroying Hamas and Hezbollah.
Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who previously commanded U.S. air forces in the Middle East, has raised the issue in meetings at the Pentagon and at the White House, The Times reported, citing US officials.
''If you're Israel and you're a military planner, you want to do all that while things are in the region, not after it leaves,'' said Dana Stroul, the Pentagon's former top official for Middle East policy, of US military presence.
On Sunday, Biden administration officials said they had talked to Israeli officials about limiting its ground invasion of Leb ...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... . But Israel's raids this week have so far looked more like a more extensive operation is planned, other officials said.
