[Daily Caller] The Georgia state ethics commission will subpoena bank records from Stacey Abrams’ 2018 gubernatorial campaign and several other groups that raised money to help her candidacy. Your specific menu may vary. Updates to follow.
David Emadi, a former Douglas County prosecutor who became director of the state ethics commission Monday, announced on Thursday that he will soon subpoena Abrams’ gubernatorial campaign, various political action committees and special interest groups that supported her failed campaign, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"What I can say about the investigation into the Abrams campaign is in the relatively near future, I expect we will be issuing subpoenas for bank and finance records of both Miss Abrams and various PACs and special-interest groups that were affiliated with her campaign," Emadi said to reporters on Thursday.
It’s not immediately clear what Abrams’ camp is being investigated for specifically, and the new director did not give many details on the matter. The ethics commission, known formally as the Georgia Government Transparency & Campaign Finance Commission, is tasked with collecting reports on lobbying expenditures, vendor grift and campaign finance. The Commission is also in charge of issuing penalties for any violations pertaining to these issues.

So, not that I don't believe that she is up to something unsavory and illegal, but aren't these investigations required to state what they are looking for/list some kind of charges?
Sometime later today, most likely, the agency will announce a large order of Orion space capsules from Lockheed Martin. This will offer Johnson Space Center the promise of a long-term Orion program on site.
Manufacturer Lockheed Martin
Airbus Defence and Space
The Orion MPCV uses the same basic configuration as the Apollo Command and Service Module (CSM) that first took astronauts to the Moon, but with an increased diameter, updated thermal protection system, and a host of other modern technologies. Orion will support long-duration deep space missions with up to 21 days active crew time plus 6 months quiescent spacecraft life.[10] During the quiescent period crew life support would be provided by another module, such as the proposed Deep Space Habitat. The spacecraft's life support, propulsion, thermal protection, and avionics systems can be upgraded as new technologies become available.[citation needed]
The Orion spacecraft includes both crew and service modules, and a spacecraft adapter. The Orion's crew module is larger than Apollo's and can support more crew members for short or long-duration missions. The European service module propels and powers the spacecraft as well as storing oxygen and water for astronauts.
There are no NASA estimates for the Orion program recurring yearly costs once operational, for a certain flight rate per year, or for the resulting average costs per flight.

Hale said that Johnson’s decision to suspend Parliament “was unlawful because it had the effect of frustrating or preventing the ability of Parliament to carry out its constitutional functions without reasonable justification.”
"It is not illegal per se, but we just don't like it. Who does he think he is, Trump?"

I'm obviously out of date; but back in the day the House of Lords functioned as a Supreme Court for Britain. I wasn't aware that they had a Supreme Court--can anyone help me understand this development?
Also a comment--with an unwritten constitution, you invite stuff like this. Not that judges over here aren't creative readers; but at least we have in writing the way that things are supposed to be.

Disappointing, but predictable. In a similar manner, this whole drama will come to a sorry but predictable end with blood in the streets.

Chinese government officials predict that the country’s emissions could peak in the next few years and then fall as more renewable energy comes online.
Unexpectedly. However -
But critics point out that China may end up exporting polluting industries and dirty power plants to other developing countries, even if domestic use of fossil fuels goes down.

Africa springs to mind. Middle Kingdom seems to be busy there.

1) G(r)om - could you at least include a paragraph or two from the article when you make your posts?
2) It's a debt of $1,600 she has refused to pay over a period of years; $10 says that when she finally gets around to paying it off, they'll waive the penalties like they did with Tiny Tim Geithner and his IRS debt.
[Townhall] A Senate Judiciary Committee report revealed that New York Times reporter Robin Pogrebin coached sources on what to say and how to respond to her questions based on information she obtained, The Federalist reported. Her motive was to shape a false narrative against now-sitting Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and allegations of sexual misconduct. Pogrebin is one of the co-authors of the anti-Kavanaugh book whose chapter was featured in the New York Times last week.

Are people surprised by this? I take it for granted now that these "sources" are purposefully cultivated and instructed by journalists and their political handlers.

[Real Clear Politics] In an interview on "FOX News Sunday," President Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani outlined allegations of corruption against Joe Biden regarding his son's business dealings in Ukraine, China, and elsewhere.
FOX NEWS, JOHN ROBERTS: Interactions between President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and the president of Ukraine are under scrutiny following reports of a whistle-blower complaint, claiming that the president urged the Ukrainian to investigate the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, potentially influencing the 2020 race. Joining me here live in Washington to talk more about this is Mr. Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani.

Several hundred Congressional legislators also shocked to learn of former President Woodrow Wilson's passing. Calls for flag lowering are being heard across the aisle.
[BREITBART] Idaho House Representative Tammy Nichols spoke to SiriusXM Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle that Idaho’s state legislators are considering defunding Boise State University after revelations that the school’s new president, Marlene Tromp, is seeking to implement a leftist agenda at the university.
“[In] a lot of conservative areas, there’s this attack that’s going on — and we’re seeing things slipping in,” said Rep. Nichols on Saturday. “Idaho has been one of the fastest growing states in the nation, so we’ve been getting people from all over, moving to our state.”
“We had a new president for Boise State [Marlene Tromp] that was selected to take over,” continued Nichols, “and we got a hold of an email that was sent out after she took her position — changes she wanted to make [to the university] — and as we started looking through this email, we became really concerned.”

It is really encouraging that the state legislature is paying attention! In so many states, even extremely conservative ones, everybody just ignores what the universities are up to and lets all of this garbage continue without end.

Gromgoru - I believe that this could be the case now, but at least when I was in school, I saw the minds of so many classmates decimated by relentless leftists BS at university even after they made it to 17-19 without being too badly off. It seems so hard to believe that things have gotten even worse in a relatively short time (I entered university in the late 00s). The university indoctrination really was a lot worse than in K-12, at least where I was (our school drew very heavily from more conservative areas of our state, so parents might have been resisting better while their kids were in school).

Fair enough gromgoru. I have pretty different experiences, so I'm coming from a different place. I know our K-12 schools pushed a lot of crap onto people, but they were just so bad at teaching ANYTHING that most of it didn't stick.
[DAILYWIRE] In a recent interview with Hromadske, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko denied that President Trump attempted to pressure the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, into investigating former Vice President and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body... (emphasis added):
I want to say that we are an independent country. We have our own secrets. Our president has the right to speak to another president so that that conversation remains confidential. This is the one precondition that leaders [set] each other so that they can exchange sensitive information. American Sherlocks have the full right to turn to the U.S. and to get this information if they think that our president has been pressured. They can clear this up. I know what they spoke about, and I don't think there was any coercion. There was a talk ‐ talks can be on different topics; leaders have the right to talk about any problems they wish. This conversation was long, it was friendly, and it touched on a lot of questions, some of which had rather serious implications.
[FOXNEWS] Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, who is challenging President Trump in the Republican primaries, proclaimed Monday that the president committed treason through his controversial phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky -- adding that the punishment for treason is death.
The statement drew a swift rebuke from the Trump campaign.
"The media’s affliction with Trump Derangement Syndrome has driven them into an actual discussion of the proposed execution of the President of the United States," communications director Tim Murtaugh told Fox News. "In severe cases of TDS such as this, immediate consultation with a physician is recommended.”
[PJMEDIA] Introducing her new gun control legislation, Congresscritter Sheila Jackson Lee ......the clownish U.S. Representative-for-life for Texas's 18th congressional district, serving since 1995. The district includes most of inner-city Houston. She is noted for her lack of tact and intellect. She is a member of the Democratic Party, and almost its epitome...... (D-Texas) proved conclusively that she's just too uninformed to go anywhere near the subject. She claims to have "held an AR-15 in my hand," which weighed as much as "10 boxes that you might be moving." She also claimed the rifle fired a .50 caliber round, and that "these kinds of bullets need to be licensed and do not need to be on the street."
"I held an AR-15 in my hand, I wish I hadn’t. It is as heavy as 10 boxes that you might be moving. And the bullet that is utilized, a .50 caliber, these kinds of bullets need to be licensed and do not need to be on the street." - Rep. @JacksonLeeTX18 pic.twitter.com/U71ir6BHZH
If Lee wants to ban 90-pound .50 caliber AR-15s, I say, "Why not?" While she's at it, Lee could put a ban on flying cars, unicorns, and doing seven impossible things before breakfast. If Lee wants to get heavy .50 machine guns off the streets, well, first she's going to have to get some on the streets.

The AR-15 modified to fire the .50 Beowulf proprietary cartridge exists: "...the .50 Beowulf is best described as a low-velocity, heavy caliber, making its ballistics roughly equivalent to those of early .45-70 Government rounds rather than the higher pressure rounds tolerated by lever-action rifles such as the Marlin Model 1895."
By the way: The .45-70 rifle cartridge, also known as .45-70 Government, was developed at the U.S. Army 's Springfield Armory for use in the Springfield Model 1873, which is known to collectors as the "Trapdoor Springfield.". Ooh! Scary! Not that any sane person would want to be shot by this round, but a big, bad sniper/machine gun bullet it ain't.
TL/DR: "She keeps using that word (.50 caliber). I don't think it means what she thinks it means."

What's that saying about "you get the kind of government yo deserve." Why is this semi-functional "special needs" type still collecting a gov't paycheck?
